Brewers Fayre Exeter in Exeter

Absolutely disgusting- walked on at 1pm and the restaurant was half empty. Asked for a table for four as we had driven from Swindon to meet a relative who has a life threatening illness and were told that the only people who could eat in the pub was people who were staying in the premier inn that evening. We pointed out that we had stayed the previous night but were still turned away by a very rude waitress who said she was the only person working (there was clearly two other people behind the bar). Asked to speak to the manager who also refused to let us in and was shocked that we asked for an email address for their head office and also refused to provide this. Have been using this premier inn/brewers Fayre for several months but will no longer do so

My recent experience at Brewers Fayre (M5, Jn 29) was marred by numerous disappointments, leaving me deeply dissatisfied with the overall experience. The lack of empathy and understanding particularly exemplified by an encounter with Josh, the duty manager, was particularly disheartening. Despite clear information from Google and the establishment's own website indicating a closing time of 10:30pm on Sundays, I arrived just after 9pm to find the bar and restaurant closed. I had endured a particularly challenging day, and as I was staying at the Premier Inn next door, had factored a late evening meal at the BF. Rather than acknowledging my clear confusion and frustration, Josh displayed a lack of willingness to assist or offer alternative dining options. His actions demonstrated a notable deficiency in customer service. He later drew my attention to a paragraph that stated the restaurant closed at 9pm, but as I explained, my information was gleaned from Google. Despite being left hungry, I sat to complete a few work emails. I was then asked to leave by a young staff member at 9:45pm. Josh's rude and dismissive attitude upon my request for a brief 10 min extension, was unacceptable. When I expressed my dissatisfaction with his attitude, his response was dismissive and disrespectful, with a flippant retort of "you too mate." This exchange only served to highlight a lack of managerial competence and customer-centric values, leaving me deeply disappointed in the overall experience. Additionally, I must highlight the unkempt appearance of the staff, which detracted further from the overall ambiance of Brewers Fayre (M5, Jn 29). It was evident that some members of the team were not adhering to the expected dress standards (clothing be neat and clean and not ripped, frayed, disheveled, tight, revealing or otherwise inappropriate), with several staff members appearing scruffy in their attire. Drainpipe jeans, untucked shirts, and trainers seemed to have become the norm, presenting a disconcerting lack of professionalism. This disregard for dress code standards reflects poorly on the establishment's image and contributes to an atmosphere of carelessness and laxity. It is essential for management to enforce and maintain appropriate dress standards among staff to uphold the reputation and credibility of the establishment. Overall, my experience at Brewers Fayre (M5, Jn 29) fell far short of expectations, marked by poor customer service. For a brand purporting to offer a comfortable and enjoyable guest experience, these shortcomings are deeply disappointing and underscore a need for substantial improvement in various areas. As a result, I am compelled to seek alternative F&B options in the future, as the current standards fail to meet even the most basic expectations of guest satisfaction, nor do not meet my expectations or warrant continued patronage.

Absolutely brilliant from start to finish! I booked for my daughter’s 21st. On arrival there was birthday banners and balloons and a gift and card from the establishment for my daughter. We were a large table of 18. The food came out all together and all cooked perfectly with no hitches. Staff were amazing. Thank you to all the staff for being so accommodating, my daughter throughly enjoyed her self.

Staying nearby and looking for somewhere nearby to eat. My expectations were not high, but even they weren’t met. If you could find them, staff were polite and service was pretty speedy in a half full venue. There were a lot of menu items not available. We picked bearing that in mind, and one of the two items was also not available. Food came. Burger and fish & chips. Both were warm and ok. Batter on fish was soggy and removed. Fish underneath ok. Drinks came fast and were ok. Not much more to add Overall a disappointing visit. Have been to man better Brewer’s Fayres in the past. Doubt I will be back to this one in a hurry.

The worst Brewers Fayre I have visited! The staff member taking orders at the till incorrectly took my order and when I went back to query the error blamed me! Because I argued back, saying they made the error I was asked to apologise by both the supervisor and duty manager. I refused to apologise and I was made to feel uncomfortable. After a heated discussion we managed to sort out the order. Things only went down hill from there, we were a table of 12 and main courses were brought to the table with starters. The carvery was poor, the roast potatoes and parsnips were burnt and the vegetables had been standing on the hot plate for to long. Finally, desserts were brought to the table whilst people were still eating the main course. I will not be returning to this Brewers Fayre, both the staff and management team need to look at their customer service skills and improve the standard of the food they are offering. If this had not been a family meal on Mother's Day we would have walked out.

Been visiting Brewers Fayres for lunch for several years. The Lunch menu was always great value for money but now they've cut the size. quality and content so much it is now quite poor. I'd rather they'd increased the price more and maintained the previous standard. Smothered chicken used to be excellent and the option to upgrade the fish has been withdrawn from the Lunch menu. Very disappointed, unlikely to visit on a regular basis now.

We are regular visitors here Sunday carvery ( often coming mid week too). The vegetables are always crisp and fresh with everything in small bowls so it gets regularly changed. Always a friendly welcome on arrival no matter who is on duty. The chef on Sunday is happy to chat with customers as he perfectly carves the meat. Bit reluctant to put too good a review as it's a bit of a hidden gem

Mark made us feel welcomed and gave us a very happy ending. I am happy to come again as mark provided the happiest of endings this time not just to me but for the whole family and done it with a smile. Thank you !!!

Service was quick and food was fair. Staff was friendly. Only minor issues was the "Wait here to be served" sign seems to be a lie as I was standing for a few minutes and while staff acknowledged I was there no one came to inform me it's sit where you like.

Very friendly and welcoming staff, great value for money. Always stop here when travelling on holiday. A lot better than stopping at the services.

We make this part of our routine and have breakfast here once a week We arrive at 8.30 every time and it's always clean and tidy, I have seen Mark keeping a very strong eye on how clean and tidy the restaurant is! And how he's hoovering alot! He is passionate about his job and this shows We will be back

I came here with my friends for dinner as it was just off the Motorway and we was heading on a road trip. The service here was great, the staff was amazing and super friendly. I ordered the fish and chips and was surprised how good it tasted, It tasted better than some of the fish and chips I’ve had at the seaside.

We were staying with the holiday inn down the road and popped in for dinner with our two children. The manager was friendly, I think her name was Tam, she hosted us right away and shown us to a table. We ordered very quickly and had our food within 20 minutes! The food was hot and delicious and the kids loved their smash sundaes. Definitely recommend. Drilon served us on the bar.

We've been to This Brewers Fayre many times, two things not as good, firstly the menu has changed with a real cost cutting exercise. Smothered Chicken has no salad or dressing and without coslaw, plus if you upgrade to two bits of chicken there is no cheese or bacon on the second bit. The plate looks very empty. The heating on the main room wasn't working, or the temperature was set to low.

I’m a tad annoyed. We had been working hard all day. At about 2pm OH said ‘I wonder if anywhere near us does an all day roast?’ Btw we are new to the area. I googled and saw that Brewers fayre does a roast 12-6 on a Sunday. Great. I booked a table for 5.30. We read the menu which also states roast 12-6. At the bar, when ordering a roast I was told that they finish roasts at about 2-3pm . OH furious! The curry was ok but it wasn’t what we wanted. First world problem I know but………unhappy customer.com

A pleasant surprise when we stayed overnight in Exeter Premier Inn. Steaks were succulent and tasty. The meal was served hot. Excellent service

As regulars we always have a great experience. Staff always so friendly and food great value and delicious. Even when their heating was broken they provided free hot drinks and had portables heaters to ensure our comfort.
