Wonderful old building beautifully maintained had really lovely lunch

What an incredible building! The brunch we had was very welcome as we had been travelling many hours. Everything was excellent!

This is a stunning building with an old pulpit and numerous stained glass windows. Food and service were great and the server checked to see if everything was okay with our breakfast. As always, very reasonably priced for a good hot meal and unlimited hot drinks.

Great Wetherspoons pub in a fantastic old historical former chapel. Good value too. Not as great as it used to be, but hey it's a Wetherspoons!

Great value excellent staff . One small moan could the breakfast be hotter. No complaints otherwise great value for mone. It's a regular meet up.

Great pub with excellent staff. Nice for a quiet afternoon ale. The food has always been near to the top of the Spoons ladder and obviously has quite good options for kids (vegan/veggie/pescatarian kids especially, I would say. Also meat eating kids. And probably kids who just like a drink). Yes, nice place. Rarely rowdy in the day. Probably exciting in the evening but I'm too boring for that!

It’s a Wetherspoons, generally quieter than the other two in town.

Went for drinks and food. Ordered from the 'small plates' menu. Food was delicious and plentiful. Quirky location (old church complete with pulpit). Staff never stopped: pouring drinks, serving drinks, clearing away plates/glasses, cleaning etc, they were brilliant. There's a large inviting outside area too, which is also well kept. One of the best Wetherspoons I've been to.

I've been to this place twice recently. First time I had a breakfast with my friend there and it was great. I definitely recommend mushroom eggs benedict with hollandaise sauce. The second time, I was there with my partner. I had a buttermilk chicken burger for lunch. This is my go-to dish when it comes to food there. They do have plenty of affordable food options and great drinks. Service and atmosphere were really good too.

Myself and a friend met some of my old school mates in the Saint George's Meeting House , food was good and it was great to see my old buddies again.

Quirky church conversion with some upstairs seating and a small yard. Good value food, friendly staff.

Interesting venue. Service from the staff is friendly and helpful but management is not and so I would not recommend a visit.

The building is quite something, both outside and internal. Adapted with style, we thought it was a good example of what could be done to adapt a protected building, a wide range of beers plus a meal range to feed any hungry sole at competitive prices

Some advice: serve app ordered drinks in the order they are placed. Drinks left on the bar for ages and staff just picking up the closest ones. Bar staff couldn't care less.

Went for a couple of drinks here and it was really nice, fun and quirky weatherspoons being in an old church. Great prices too.

You simply cannot beat a Spoons for value for money and a great atmosphere. George's is a converted church and is beautifully converted. It's very spacious, so finding a table isn't a problem. There's also a great outside area in the summer. Aside from the price, the range of beers, wines, gins and other spirits is extensive. This really is a great business model in times when people cannot afford more expensive hospitality establishments prices.

Weekday evening service was speedy and friendly even though most tables were occupied. The pizza is good and you pretty much know what you're getting with Wetherspoons. Everywhere was nice and clean. Visit regularly

Great place as it was an original meeting house with stained glass windows and wooden carved timber and the staff. Food,coffee is nice .

Typical JD wetherspoons in the near centre of town, can be very noisy as it has very tall ceiling.

Went on a Tuesday and had steak with drink for £14. Decent prices, really nice food, can be very hit and miss and was really good this evening

Everyone who worked there was lovely. Food was a good price and what you'd expect from a wetherspoons. The free coffee refile was a nice idea,the coffee was great, but again what you'd expect for a 2 pound infinite coffee. The building was really nice, and the menu had some history about it, it used to be a church, and you can still see some of the pews aha. Good place to meet with friends

Such a pretty wetherspoons, the full English breakfast was fantastic and I will definitely come here again! The service was friendly and just altogether amazing!

The food is fantastic, especially when ordering via the phone app, as the service is impressively rapid. The building is quite spacious, offering a more elderly-friendly environment compared to what you find at the Chevalier Inn.

Popped in for a coffee and beer. Cheap for what it is but it's a Spoons so you get what you expect. Tables hadn't been cleared upstairs but we're done while we were sat down. Value for money.

Quiet day here, so service extra specially quick. Food it definitely what you expect from a wetherspoons, suits us. Nacho especially today were good. Came with hubby and 10 year old and we're all happy. New fav for the youngest in our group.

Had a tray of pints spilt over us and then got charged for 3 drinks which (by no fault of our own) were put on our table, before we proceeded to get shouted at by a member of staff for accepting them! Left soggy and upset - won’t be returning would not recommend. Get better staff.

Would give this place zero stars if I could. Awful rude staff. Got 5 drinks poured over me with zero compensation. Made us pay for drinks that weren’t ours after being shouted at by the staff. Ruined my evening, AVOID at all costs.

Spacious, airy revived church. Good Wetherspoons standard. A mistake was made on our order but they swapped out the buttermilk chicken - all good 👍

Spoons review- obviously you know what to expect with a spoons. As a spoons it gets a solid 8/10, definitely better than the Chev unfortunately overshadowed by Imperial, but if you don’t fancy the walk it’s a good option.

Had a very nice fish and chips, staff very pleasant BUT had a pint (accidentally) thrown over me by a member of staff. I accept it was an accident, and the pint was replaced, however, when I cheekily asked if I could have a free pint while I continued drying off I was told "No sorry, it was an accident." What's the chance of a freebie if it's done on purpose?

Good service even though they were absolutely slammed. I ordered through the app literally seconds later I was informed by a member of staff I could pick up my drink.

Always enjoy going with friends. Old church gives good atmosphere. Drinks seem fairly quick and cheap.

We went to George's Meeting House to reconnect with friends after a prolonged period. While the location is relatively easy to find, parking posed a challenge, necessitating a considerable walk from our car. Upon arrival, two bouncers warmly greeted us, a nice touch that raised questions about the clientele inside however. Being a busy Saturday evening, the place was packed, lacking any available seating. The large opening to the ceiling intensified the noise from the numerous patrons, making it challenging to engage in conversations. The staff were friendly and prompt. The pricing, typical for Wetherspoons, proved reasonable given the extensive menu and drink options. Although we didn't sample the food, our friends did, and it arrived promptly and looked appetising. In summary, our visit was brief. The venue's high noise level makes it less ideal as a primary choice for me, but if you're seeking a spot to gather with friends and manage to secure a table, it serves its purpose adequately.

Large old Chapel. Plenty of seating upstairs and downstairs. Can get a bit rowdy.

Fantastic, superbly designed pub. The decor is amazing, it really makes you feel part of an experience not just having a swift drink in a pub. Outdoor seating, well lit, great facilities. Disability access is a bit limited especially with the main seating area having very tall tables and chairs. There are other lower seating options but within the main body of the establishment this may be tricky for people with mobility issues. I also have to point out that the beautifully set out outdoor seating area is great to sit in but the only draw back is there is no table service and it's a looonnggg way back to the bar especially when you're relaxing.
