First and Last visit. Strange fishy smell on arrival ( I presume some cheap cleaning products) Coffee served barely warm and weak. Ordered two sausage buns. Served on dry bun. One was Ok the other had a strange taste and smell and seemed like the sausages were bad.

Visited very early morning not busy and ordered two coffees and a bacon roll plus toast and found the bacon roll was dry no butter on the roll which was dry and tough to cut.The toast was okay but the coffee was not very hot is this because the machine which produces it is set to low.Staff seemed to be under pressure lots of people coming in for coffee and they looked under pressure, not a successful visit so will avoid going into the cafe again.

Recently, I stumbled upon an unparalleled cappuccino experience at the Waitrose Cafe in Exeter. Priced at a modest £3.10, this delightful concoction was crafted with oat milk and elevated with a hint of hazelnut syrup. But it wasn't just the beverage that left an indelible mark; it was also the heartwarming presence of the elderly lady who brewed it with such love and expertise. Her genuine warmth added an intangible flavor to the experience. Truly, for value for money, this stands as one of the finest cappuccinos in the UK.

I’ve shopped in Exeter Waitrose for a few years now, and sadly I can no more. This unfortunately is due to the management in store. They’re unhelpful, rude and unfair to their staff. I’ve witnessed them be unnecessarily patronising and cruel to their employees and customers. I used to enjoy a coffee in their cafe each morning, but again, since the arrival of a particularly nasty young lady who I believe manages the barista’s, I have ceased to go. I can commend a young male employee who made me a lovey coffee and was delightful - I do believe he was called Tim/Tom. I do hope this situation is quickly resolved and the management in the store take a long hard look at themselves and take a leaf out of some of their employees books.

Mobbed on Easter Saturday, the entrance is badly laid out, with masses of trolley traffic jams and the flower stall in the wrong place.

Having family in the Devon countryside and visiting a couple of times a month the Exeter branch is our second most used Waitrose branch in the country. Why? The excellent cafe of Course!Waitrose have been very shrewd in adding these classy cafes to their stores particularly in the more affluent areas, not that you need to be affluent to use them mind as the excellent hot beverages served are free with any purchase in the cafe - provided you are a Waitrose Card holder. The Exeter cafe is a relatively large one and also provides outside covered seating. It is staffed by young enthusiastic staff and service we have experienced here is usually swift and comes with a smile. I say usually as this is an incredibly popular cafe and on a Sunday you may have a job finding a table. Food ranges from an excellent donut through to a full English breakfast or light lunch. Main meals are about £7.50, more probably than you would pay in Tesco or Morrisons - but then, from experience you are getting much better quality here - and an excellent free coffee too!

If your ambition runs to coffee and a cake, or a sandwich, then Waitrose café is indeed very good - the cakes especially are well above average. And if you happen to be shopping before 11:30 (I never have) then there's an entire menu offering a wide choice of breakfast items. But after 11:30, they stop serving breakfast (WHY? Have you never heard of the "all day breakfast", Waitrose?). What's more, this wide menu contains items that are clearly not breakfast, e.g. bubble and squeak, hot dogs. If you want a hot meal after 11:30, you're stuffed. The choice narrows to THREE ITEMS. Yes, you read it right - THREE. Lasagne, scampi & chips, burger & chips. Kind of easy to remember the menu in its entirety. What's worse, you're told "there's currently a 20 minute delay for hot food". Well, no thank you. I can pick up a top quality ready meal off their shelf for less than £5, and microwave it as soon as I get home.Stick to what you're good at Waitrose, but don't pretend you're in the "restaurant trade" - you're a café, albeit a good one, but no more than that.

Even for a slim person.Shopping in Waitrose is a good experience. Absolutely no complaints but often, after a large shop, its good to enjoy a tea or coffee or lunch. It was a nice gesture to be able to have a tea or coffee free with the My Waitrose card. Now its restricted. Legitimate shoppers must pay for their drinks or be forced to make a cafe purchase in order to have a free drink! That would be okay except...its quite different for those with the My Waitrose card who only want the free drink without the bother of a purchase. They can go to customer service, show the card and get a cup for their choice of hot drink. These cards register purchases so why not link them to a mimimum spend. £5--£10 minimum spend is not a lot to ask to qualify for the complimentary cafe drink. Why should students etc be able to pop in, collect their freebie and leave, while the loyal shopper is penalised? Come on Waitrose, you've got this totally the wrong way round. Shoppers are loyal. Freeloaders just want the free drink. It needs sorting.

Just wanted soup and coffee. The leek and potato soup was beyond watery - it was potato- flavoured water rather than soup and tasted as if it had started life in a catering pack. You can go only so far when cutting costs - this was too far.

My wife and I have used the cafe a couple of times and have enjoyed it both times. For a light snack whilst before going home it's perfect - and the food is actually nicer, and more reasonably priced, than the John Lewis cafe that's in town.Being a Waitrose they get a lot of customers coming in for a free coffee, so there's often a cue - but most people don't sit down.

We arrived to find no queue! The reason became clear - the coffee machine had broken down. A sign also stated that "part of the cooker had broken down and they could not cook certain items". I would imagine that Waitrose is such a good customer that they should be able to call on a local repairer to fix things almost at once.I wanted a particular sandwich which was not in the sandwich section so I asked at the counter "that will be in the sandwich chiller" "No that's why I am asking you". The staff - otherwise - were charming, just what you'd expect at Waitrose, perhaps but so unfocussed. They got in each other's way and took ages to get the tables cleared. I also ordered a leek soup and it took so long to come that I almost expected to see someone nbearing leeks from the veg counter; how long does it take to ladle out a soup and deliver it? The food at least is good; the cakes are superb. My major "beef" [oh dear!] with the surroundings is with the awful chairs which shriek loudly when anyone moves them on the floor. Please fit rubber protectors to reduce the noise [or is it a plot to keeping the customers moving?]

Oh dear, what has gone wrong with the Waitrose Cafe? To begin with the nice sofas and chairs have gone to make room for more tables and chairs. The cafe is now way too small for the numbers of tables and chairs squeezed into the space. It used to be a pleasure to shop, have lunch, coffee or tea depending on the time of day but not anymore. There just don't seem to be enough staff to cope with the volume of customers. The queues are often so long with the resulting wait. Yesterday as we arrived at the cafe seven people were coming away with their free coffee. Another ten subsequently left with their free coffee. It's seems to be causing chaos. Why not restrict the My Waitrose card with free drinks to account holders or on production of a till slip for a minimum spend. Or say "drinks to go" must be paid for. Even the police have been seen, in uniform, with their My Waitrose card, then leaving with their free drink. The clutter, overcrowding, often lots of messy tables, and long waits are not what we associate with Waitrose. Something needs to be done before a once pleasant experience turns very sour.

I often take my grandchildren to the cafe if I am shopping in Waitrose.I have to be honest , the service isn't good and on several occasions I have had to wait up to ten minutes for something I have ordered to arrive from the kitchen.Tea, coffee and hot chocolate also seem to take some time to prepare. On the last occasion I stood alongside a lady who was obviously frustrated by the wait and who seemed to know what she was talking about when she told me that it wasn't the employees' fault it was the layout and system which needed revising.

Located inside the Waitrose Store, this is a supermarket quick stop for coffee, a sweet, or a snack, while shopping. The expected assortment of sodas, coffees, sandwiches and other snacks. Reasonably priced, convenient and tasty.

We love this cafe. Whether its for morning coffee, lunch or afternoon tea. It's so civilised to be able to shop and then head for the cafe. The staff are so lovely but that goes for all Waitrose and John Lewis staff. Other supermarkets and stores take note. The cafe is light and airy and there's always a good selection of daily newspapers to browse if you feel like it. Today, because the weather was fantastic, we were able to sit outside for tea. Even better, with a My Waitrose card, the tea or coffee is free. Shopping in Waitrose is great. Wide aisles, produce well presented and good selection. If your feeling lazy why not order on line to pick up at customer collections then head to the cafe for lunch. It's a doddle and so far Ive no complaints with my online shop either for collection in store or delivered to home. I cannot find anything to criticise this store for.

Well designed car park with pedestrian walkway to shop from disabled and young family parking area. Level site that continues into the shop. Wide aisles in shop made browsing an enjoyable time - no trolley rage here! The cafe was a very pleasant experience with delicious coffee and chocolate eclairs (generous size, very fresh, plenty of fresh cream filling). I liked the pot of tea for one option - very stylish presentation and tasty brew. Choice of seating at tables or comfy sofas. Toilets available off the cafe area. Newspapers available to read. Cafe light, bright and very clean. This was a lovely venue for a shop and post shop chat with my elderly Mum. If I lived closer I would be a regular visitor. I visited here on Wednesday 14th November. I look forward to my next visit and another eclair!

Had to give evidence but was kept waiting all day. Small volunteer counter in court lobby with hot drink and confectionary only. An usher pointed out Waitrose not far up the road which was excellent. Light snacks and more, good range of drinks and very pleasant environment. Not expensive. Good option.

Absolutely heaving when we went during the Christmas market. You know what you're going to get, not fine dining, but at the price, with free coffee refills you can't beat it. Nice surroundings in an old chapel.

We have never been to Heavitree let alone heard of this pub!! People we met in Topsham said it was their local and that it was a super pub.....well, we have had an adventure and experienced it first hand. Probably not the best time at 3pm . It was quiet, it was a nice pint, the barman was very friendly but overall it is not our favourite pub. No doubt it gets busier and has a better atmosphere....Nice charity shops in the area though! We will be back to explore this new area more on a busy main artery into the city.....
