Grounded in Bristol, City of

This is not the first time that I have been here. I have sampled their roast dinners twice before. Been again today for a roast dinner and did not enjoy it. Carrots underdone, sprouts overdone, cold Yorkshire which they replaced and the meal was swimming in gravy. Was there with a friend and they also left half of the food uneaten. Not sure if I would go again.

Popped in for Coffee and Cake. Lovely welcome which matters a lot. Didn’t know it was a bar and music venue as well so really good to know. Might become my go to place - well done!

This is becoming a great spot for live music, there’s been some great stuff going on there lately. Great vibe, lovely people and nice food too

Ive been to Grounded in FIshponds a few times. Always a great atmosphere, lovely pizzas and good selection of drinks. Also seen some fabulous live music and DJs on Friday and Saturday nights. Well worth a visit!

3 of us came for a roast and it was well priced plus delicious! Fast, friendly service and overall great vibe of a place. Met the new manager and he’s doing some great things for our community. Highly recommend!!

Such a nice community space for fishponds. Has really become more lively, friendly and vibey than previously. Is a nice place to hangout and tasty food too.

Nice enough atmosphere and service. Food is poor though and coffee is hit and miss. Kids meal was inadequate for a 2 year old let alone any older children. Honestly the serving of beans for beans on toast was about 1 table spoon put in a pot the size of a shot glass served with 1 slice of dry toast. Other meals in the past have come without key ingredients listed in the menu. Generally, I leave here quite disappointed.

Great cafe bar in Fishponds dog friendly the staff are 5* very friendly and polite, foods good and just a nice place to chill out...good music soundtrack, lots of evening events all round good vibe ⭐️

Vino a almorzar con mi hijo y no pudo haber sido mejor. El café era precioso y muy caliente y luego ambos tuvimos los desayunos vegetarianos que eran deliciosos! ¡Las salchichas vegetales fueron probablemente las mejores que he probado! El personal era amable y nos dejaron para charlar y disfrutar de nuestro largo almuerzo sin sentir prisa. En general excelente. Gracias, sin duda un nuevo lugar de almuerzo para nosotros.

No other venue could be packed to the gills for a jazz gig on a Monday in December!

Didn’t get food but went for a gig (jazz - Yard Dogs). Excellent, friendly atmosphere. Swift bar. Friendly staff. AWESOME MUSIC! Real sense of community and a total escape for an evening. Buzzing!

Took a table for 9 for a Sunday roast on short notice, food was lovey and staff were fantastic!

We had such a lovely Sunday roast at Grounded today. It had a welcoming, family friendly atmosphere and the food was yummy too. I would def recommend the veggie option which was delish & the children’s options were great too. Fantastic service & lovely staff would def go back.

I've popped in here a few times over the last year with my baby daughter. The food is great and the place is exactly the kind of place I want to pop into when out and about as it has highchairs and plenty of room to manoeuvre a buggy. It's never been busy on the weekday lunchtimes when we've been in there, in fact, it was often very quiet. However, it was always a little unusual that the food would take so long to arrive. The last time I was in there, I ordered a fishfinger sandwich with a side of chips. After quite some time of waiting and hearing the food ding dong, I estimated around 10 minutes between food orders coming out. Then, after around 40 minutes on another quiet lunchtime, my little one had finished all her emergency snacks and was, understandably, getting bored and agitated and making a lot of noise. We were sat right in front of the bar area and the two staff that were there totally ignored us and offered no information about our order. Hungry and disappointed I asked for a refund as we had to leave. The two staff then proceeded to stare at the till with confused expressions for what seemed like an eternity before one of them headed out the back. Eventually they gave me a tenner in cash and I left, never, ever, to return. If this had been a one time thing I wouldn't have left this review, but there were many times when the food I'd ordered only just made it to us before deciding to leave.

Ben el gerente es genial y puedo ver por qué está regularmente lleno. Tienen buenas opciones veganas. No soy un gran fanático de las hamburguesas y los bollos, pero la hamburguesa vegana de hongos estaba deliciosa. Si tuvieran algunas ensaladas como plato principal le habría dado 5 estrellas. Definitivamente volveré.

Love this place! The music is always spot on, super welcoming energy from the staff and the food is so good(the £10 pint and pizza student deal is a major bargain). There always seems to be events going on here too. Notable mention is the jazz and quiz nights! The quiz nights come with a free pizza at half time too:) Definitely would recommend to people of all ages!

Absolutely smashing vegan breakfast! Such an improvement from what was on offer before!! Especially the vegan sausage. Thank you ☺️

The roasts are brilliant. I work at the Bank Tavern and our roasts are amazing but these were exceptional.

Popped in yesterday for a pint and a pizza and wow, what a lovely place. Really welcoming atmosphere and friendly staff. The mix of clientele shows what a community focused place it is. They were just setting up for an open mic night which I wish I could have stayed for, but I very much enjoyed my amazing vegan pizza and will definitely be back.

Grounded is a great stop for a beer, coffee or some food. All three of these are great from here! My favourite meal was the Shakshuka which made me fall in love with the dish - the staff were funny and approachable and out the back in the garden is super cosy with a playground available.

Another fabulous Saturday night at Grounded, Fishponds, listening to The Terraplanes blues band. Food was brilliant, gorgeous smashed burgers. Music was exceptional. A great combination of blues classics and original material. A most convivial crowd of all ages. Dancing occurred!. Great fun. Well done to manager Ben for bringing this to Fishponds. May there be many more like this.

El lugar era bastante sucio, especialmente los baños, y la calidad de la comida estaba por debajo de lo estándar - parecía que los chefs no estaban orgullosos de lo que estaban sirviendo. Nunca antes había experimentado este nivel de higiene y servicio deficientes y desafortunadamente no volveré. Espero que la gerencia tome en serio estos comentarios para mejorar para los futuros clientes.

Este es un gran café / bar para visitar Ben el gerente sin duda está dejando su huella en Fishponds junto con todo su personal que es amable y educado fuimos el sábado por la noche y tuvimos una comida de primera clase y vimos una banda The Rumble O's que somos realmente buenos, siempre hay algo que sucede en Grounded y vale la pena una visita, oh sí y el café es genial.

My wife had the Katsu Chicken Burger with no katsu sauce on it. With or without the sauce it was very poor quality - it was like it was reheated. The fact that it was £17 (with chips) made it even more disappointing. The Turkish eggs (£10) I had just tasted like a some tined tomatoes with a bit of veg thrown in - healthy but not very tasty. The "ciabatta" bread it came with seemed more like a cheap baguette. The only redeeming features were that service was ok (but the staff never came to check on us) and the atmosphere was friendly.

Although it was busy, breakfast arrived without having to wait for too long and it was delicious. The coffee was so good that we had another. Service was great, staff and manager were friendly. Our dog was welcome too. Will definitely be going again.

First timer, fantastic place super food and drinks, lovely atmosphere friendly staff inside and you can even sit in the garden if you like.

My favourite spot in fishponds, the music and atmosphere are hard to beat. Very lovely staff, they are so accommodating and really accepting and friendly. Great food, beers and coffee. I'm a coffee snob and they might not be the cheapest but certainly not the most expensive and you're assured a good amount of nice strong coffee unlike many other cafes that charge the same or more and give you a tiny amount of weak watery coffee. Lovely back yard and front seating areas there is always sun as they're south and west facing. They have live music and interesting events. Just a nice relaxed vibe, cool spot to focus on work, eat good food or or attend fun events. Literally ticks every box and more.

Tasty but for 2 of 4 people, what arrived what not what was described on the menu. Staff never came to the table to check on us, so there was no opportunity to get it fixed. Could have been great, but missed.

I've been coming here for a few years and whilst I have always liked the place the new management has done a stellar job at improving the atmosphere and service. Everything they have to offer makes me happy, plus the decor is now right up my street. Can't wait to check out Jazz night. Thanks for my 'half a farm' burger today, delicious 👩‍🌾🍔

The staff and coffee were lovely. But the breakfasts was a big let down. I had the vegetarian breakfast which didn't state on the menu would come with mashed vegetable sausages. For £12, this felt like such a crime. Im a chef, so im fully aware im bring ripped off with them costing no more than 20p each. They come across as cheap and they taste cheap. Most of the plate was potato, yet i still left hungry. My friend had the regular breakfast, most of which was unedible and over cooked.

We LOVE coming to Grounded Fishponds! Ben, Jess and the team always make us feel so welcome especially my two Godchildren. The new decor and menu are fantastic and we couldn't ask for a more personal and friendly service. We would come every day if we could!

Me and my partner love this place. It was taken over earlier in the year by Ben, who is brilliant and has done wonders with the place, it's a lot nicer than other grounded venues. It's a real anytime spot - after work pint, Sunday roast, Saturday brunch, etc. The staff are always lush and the prices are reasonable. Oh and great vegan options. The terrace is a total sun trap which you don't find many of along Fishponds road!

Grounded have loads of great little nights, quizzes, jazz, even free food if you win a dice deal or half time at the quiz! Honestly, the food at breakfast and dinner is lush, and if you love a burger, you can’t go wrong with a triple maple stack!!! Class environment all around

Had a lovely time last night very quiet as it was a monday but the manager behind the bar was lovely and told us all about the different events going on, will deffo go back to check it out!! Pizza is a 10/10

Went here last night for a pizza and beer. Was such a pleasant evening especially talking with the manager who was super friendly and welcoming.

The veggie breakfast comes with potato, potato and potato. Fried cylinders of mashed potato are not sausages. It's not like there aren't enough proteinous veggie sausages to choose from. It's not the 90s.

This is what a bristol Eaterie should be about. Excellent service. Excellent food and the manager creates an unbelievable vibe Walk past the crafty egg and fed. This is perfection on a wet early autumn evening

Popped in for a late lunch with a drink and later in afternoon for a coffee and cake. Open all day for a wide selection of light meals, sandwiches etc and a good selection of quality drinks both soft and alcoholic. I was struck by the friendly nature of the cafe/bar that has a really relaxed community feel. My tuna, mozzarella and onion panini I had for lunch was very tasty. Only small criticism was lettuce in side salad was a bit past its best. I later had a very nice coffee and a delicious, soft blueberry and banana cake.

Good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices

We had a celebration family meal on Friday night. We’d passed the restaurant earlier in the afternoon and spoken to the manager to check it was ok to return with kids in the evening. He was an excellent host and the food and service was top class. Highly recommended ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We visited Grounded on Saturday 10th August to see the fabulous Bristol Blues band The Terraplanes. Grounded has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, brilliant venue for live music. The staff are very friendly and they make a great cup of tea. We didn’t have a meal so can’t comment on the food but will definitely return.

Popped in the other night, the first time since the new management have taken over, and what an improvement! Lovely decor and vibe, and such a bonus to have live music ! Will definitely come back for more music and dancing, and to sample the food, which I am told is really nice (pizza and a pint for £10 sounds like a bargain to me!)

We had a lovely evening in Cafe Grounded Fishponds with live music from The Terraplanes Blues Band. Very friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Perfect place for an evening with friends, looking forward to going there again.

Really like the Grounded chain. However, I find the Fishponds chain quite dark inside. That said they do have a lovely outside/garden area at the rear.

First visit. Nice welcome on arriving. As a 3 we ordered 2 burgers and a sharing nachos. Burgers perfect and until we were talking about our meals thought the nachos were good too, until I realised that the guacamole, sour cream and coriander relish were missing. But overall would give it another go.

Came here to try out the roasts they are now doing on a Sunday and highly recommend as was superb! A new management team that have already made some great changes and looking forward to returning!

Quite possibly the WORST full English I’ve had in my entire life! The staff were not bad, very unbothered I must say, Friday afternoon at 2pm when a cafe should be in full swing, they have one staff member, who like I said, wasn’t rude but was very unbothered, clearly didn’t want to be there.. Now onto the NIGHTMARE of a breakfast, wow, can I just say that I have been a customer of Grounded Cafe for the good part of 15 years! Yes my main branch is Redfield which is the only reason I even trusted coming in to the Fishponds branch for a basic English breakfast, but can I say there is NOTHING similar, Fishponds branch DEEP FRY their sausages which is the stand out item in the Redfield branch, they undercook the bacon, the eggs were practically raw and worst of ALL the beans were half cooked, I mean how hard is it to cook BAKED BEANS for the adequate time, honestly I was close to just leaving the breakfast there and walking out but at the end of the day I had to eat before returning to work, please please please save your hard earned money and please Grounded Management, fix this branch or sell the lease and have someone else brand it, they are RUINING your brand Down to small things like there being no napkins in any of the amenities pots on the tables, to the toilet having no handwash, to the bleek bleek atmosphere which is no suprise if I’m honest, save yourself a nightmare of a breakfast/brunch/dinner and head on down to the Redfield branch! Again as a GROUNDED CUSTOMER of FIFTEEN YEARS, I am APPAULED.

Used to come here all the time but new management refused to honour bottles of wine won from quiz which we saved to have as a group. Manager stated they had expired but we could find no evidence to support this. Not impressed. We will not be coming for the quiz again. Big shame because we used to love it here. The vibe has changed for the worse.

Highly recommend lovely breakfast great staff

Came in for a Sunday roast not impressed. The roast potatoes were almost like boiled potatoes they hadn't been cooked long enough. The Yorkshire and stuffing were chewy. The veg was cold and all the rest was lukewarm. I appreciate this is a new thing for them doing roast dinners but that was bad. If it hadn't been for the fact I had just finished a two hour mtb ride and was ravenously hungry I would have sent it back.

Ordered 2 x Ham, egg and chips. After 10mins, I am told they only have enough ham for one of us. OK, so I said my 94 year old friend could have it I would have the chicken burger. 10mins later, told they had no chicken!!!! OK, I'll have the fish fingers sandwich and some chips. Both meals finally arrived after a 45 minute wait. I asked for English mustard ( I like that with chips). Guess what? No English mustard. Really unbelievable. My sandwich was plastered in tartare sauce (way to much, making it inedible. My salad that came with it was just a bit of lettuce, literally drenched in balsamic glaze. It was pretty horrid. My friends said get gam was "off" so she didn't eat it and her eggs were solid, so no runny yoke. All I got from the waiter/manager was "I am waiting for a delivery". My friend doesn't get out much, as you can imagine at 94, so she was really disappointed. Terrible food (if you could get any of what you wanted,) and pretty terrible attitude by the staff. We won't be returning and would certainly never recommend.

Not a enough choice one size coffe

This place seemed lovely on first impressions, however the food is absolutely not up to scratch for the prices. £11.75 for a vegan burger and pasta and pizzas were around the same. This would’ve been fine if the food was half decent but it was Wetherspoons quality, and took over 45 minutes for our food to come out. For what seemed like microwaved food, with wilted salad leaves and cold chips. Pasta was undercooked and barely any vegetables as advertised. An open mic happened during our meal which seemed to be the only redeeming thing about this place, albeit rather loud! Staff are very “casual” and dress like they’re outside wearing coats, but I can understand why as all heaters were off and it was freezing in there. Smelly dirty glassware too. I would probably give it another visit if the coffee is any good. I appreciate the fact they had a few vegan and veggie options available.

Very empty early Sunday, but full breakfast is fabulous. Sausage tasted of pork! Bacon was cooked on the grill and was smoky fabulous brown toast I could not finish my brekkies. So nice. Thank u

Grounded is a staple and reliable option delivering quality tasty food, good coffee in an airy spacious environment. Friendly staff, dog friendly, good children’s menu. Lasagne is top!

Myself and my partner both ordered the epic breakfast and I asked for no black pudding on mine. They both came out without the black pudding and they were both inedible. Extremely salty bacon, undercooked eggs and hard cheap sausages. I advised the person at the counter about this and he gave me a refund. Also the lock on the ladies toilet did not work and someone walked in while I was thankfully washing my hands.

Nice place to chill as has a good vibe. Friendly and very helpful staff. Lovely breakfasts. Good facilities and has seating area at the back.

I really love this place. Its very cosy and warm. Food is tasty and service quick. Prices are also good. Clean toilets and staff is friendly and helpful, everything is great and I've been here many times and will be coming back again.

One of the best lasagne I have ever had

The service, food, and atmosphere were all good. It has such a cosy feel, a great place to be on a miserable day!

As a customer there are a number of decent options for breakfast in Fishponds but we opted for Grounded. Very long wait for food even though they were not busy. Pancakes were very dark in colour, dry and resembled the ones you can buy in a supermarket. The bacon was grey in colour and not in the slightest bit crispy. All in all a very poor breakfast! We won't be back.

Me and My mum goes to grounded in fishponds we use to love going there having a nice cappuccino but the last couple of times the cappuccino tasted burnt and has really out me of now

I always have a coffee lovely, today I had a giant teacake which would of been 100 % if it came with real butter not Margarine ,I will know for next time the girls behind the counter were lovely friendly staff.

Always a fan of a good coffee shop, Grounded is a great spot. Child friendly, dog friendly. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The cakes and pasteries are amazing. I am a huge fan of their Chai tea. It is what makes me come here time and time again.
