Good selection of food and drinks at reasonable prices

We visited Grounded on Saturday 10th August to see the fabulous Bristol Blues band The Terraplanes. Grounded has a lovely welcoming atmosphere, brilliant venue for live music. The staff are very friendly and they make a great cup of tea. We didn’t have a meal so can’t comment on the food but will definitely return.

Popped in the other night, the first time since the new management have taken over, and what an improvement! Lovely decor and vibe, and such a bonus to have live music ! Will definitely come back for more music and dancing, and to sample the food, which I am told is really nice (pizza and a pint for £10 sounds like a bargain to me!)

We had a lovely evening in Cafe Grounded Fishponds with live music from The Terraplanes Blues Band. Very friendly staff, and a great atmosphere. Perfect place for an evening with friends, looking forward to going there again.

Stopped in for pizza and a couple of beers. Beer and a pizza great value at £10. Kids had cake and hot chocolate. Staff were attentive, Manager really friendly. Highly recommend

Really like the Grounded chain. However, I find the Fishponds chain quite dark inside. That said they do have a lovely outside/garden area at the rear.

First visit. Nice welcome on arriving. As a 3 we ordered 2 burgers and a sharing nachos. Burgers perfect and until we were talking about our meals thought the nachos were good too, until I realised that the guacamole, sour cream and coriander relish were missing. But overall would give it another go.

Came here to try out the roasts they are now doing on a Sunday and highly recommend as was superb! A new management team that have already made some great changes and looking forward to returning!

Quite possibly the WORST full English I’ve had in my entire life! The staff were not bad, very unbothered I must say, Friday afternoon at 2pm when a cafe should be in full swing, they have one staff member, who like I said, wasn’t rude but was very unbothered, clearly didn’t want to be there.. Now onto the NIGHTMARE of a breakfast, wow, can I just say that I have been a customer of Grounded Cafe for the good part of 15 years! Yes my main branch is Redfield which is the only reason I even trusted coming in to the Fishponds branch for a basic English breakfast, but can I say there is NOTHING similar, Fishponds branch DEEP FRY their sausages which is the stand out item in the Redfield branch, they undercook the bacon, the eggs were practically raw and worst of ALL the beans were half cooked, I mean how hard is it to cook BAKED BEANS for the adequate time, honestly I was close to just leaving the breakfast there and walking out but at the end of the day I had to eat before returning to work, please please please save your hard earned money and please Grounded Management, fix this branch or sell the lease and have someone else brand it, they are RUINING your brand Down to small things like there being no napkins in any of the amenities pots on the tables, to the toilet having no handwash, to the bleek bleek atmosphere which is no suprise if I’m honest, save yourself a nightmare of a breakfast/brunch/dinner and head on down to the Redfield branch! Again as a GROUNDED CUSTOMER of FIFTEEN YEARS, I am APPAULED.

Used to come here all the time but new management refused to honour bottles of wine won from quiz which we saved to have as a group. Manager stated they had expired but we could find no evidence to support this. Not impressed. We will not be coming for the quiz again. Big shame because we used to love it here. The vibe has changed for the worse.

Highly recommend lovely breakfast great staff

Came in for a Sunday roast not impressed. The roast potatoes were almost like boiled potatoes they hadn't been cooked long enough. The Yorkshire and stuffing were chewy. The veg was cold and all the rest was lukewarm. I appreciate this is a new thing for them doing roast dinners but that was bad. If it hadn't been for the fact I had just finished a two hour mtb ride and was ravenously hungry I would have sent it back.

Ordered 2 x Ham, egg and chips. After 10mins, I am told they only have enough ham for one of us. OK, so I said my 94 year old friend could have it I would have the chicken burger. 10mins later, told they had no chicken!!!! OK, I'll have the fish fingers sandwich and some chips. Both meals finally arrived after a 45 minute wait. I asked for English mustard ( I like that with chips). Guess what? No English mustard. Really unbelievable. My sandwich was plastered in tartare sauce (way to much, making it inedible. My salad that came with it was just a bit of lettuce, literally drenched in balsamic glaze. It was pretty horrid. My friends said get gam was "off" so she didn't eat it and her eggs were solid, so no runny yoke. All I got from the waiter/manager was "I am waiting for a delivery". My friend doesn't get out much, as you can imagine at 94, so she was really disappointed. Terrible food (if you could get any of what you wanted,) and pretty terrible attitude by the staff. We won't be returning and would certainly never recommend.

Not a enough choice one size coffe

This place seemed lovely on first impressions, however the food is absolutely not up to scratch for the prices. £11.75 for a vegan burger and pasta and pizzas were around the same. This would’ve been fine if the food was half decent but it was Wetherspoons quality, and took over 45 minutes for our food to come out. For what seemed like microwaved food, with wilted salad leaves and cold chips. Pasta was undercooked and barely any vegetables as advertised. An open mic happened during our meal which seemed to be the only redeeming thing about this place, albeit rather loud! Staff are very “casual” and dress like they’re outside wearing coats, but I can understand why as all heaters were off and it was freezing in there. Smelly dirty glassware too. I would probably give it another visit if the coffee is any good. I appreciate the fact they had a few vegan and veggie options available.

The coffee and hot chocolate don't taste nice at all pancakes made my friend feel ill but cheap and service was good

Very empty early Sunday, but full breakfast is fabulous. Sausage tasted of pork! Bacon was cooked on the grill and was smoky fabulous brown toast I could not finish my brekkies. So nice. Thank u

Grounded is a staple and reliable option delivering quality tasty food, good coffee in an airy spacious environment. Friendly staff, dog friendly, good children’s menu. Lasagne is top!

Myself and my partner both ordered the epic breakfast and I asked for no black pudding on mine. They both came out without the black pudding and they were both inedible. Extremely salty bacon, undercooked eggs and hard cheap sausages. I advised the person at the counter about this and he gave me a refund. Also the lock on the ladies toilet did not work and someone walked in while I was thankfully washing my hands.

Excellent local place really busy, great service. Food good came very quickly. Dog friendly. Recommended

Nice place to chill as has a good vibe. Friendly and very helpful staff. Lovely breakfasts. Good facilities and has seating area at the back.

I really love this place. Its very cosy and warm. Food is tasty and service quick. Prices are also good. Clean toilets and staff is friendly and helpful, everything is great and I've been here many times and will be coming back again.

As a customer there are a number of decent options for breakfast in Fishponds but we opted for Grounded. Very long wait for food even though they were not busy. Pancakes were very dark in colour, dry and resembled the ones you can buy in a supermarket. The bacon was grey in colour and not in the slightest bit crispy. All in all a very poor breakfast! We won't be back.

Me and My mum goes to grounded in fishponds we use to love going there having a nice cappuccino but the last couple of times the cappuccino tasted burnt and has really out me of now

I always have a coffee lovely, today I had a giant teacake which would of been 100 % if it came with real butter not Margarine ,I will know for next time the girls behind the counter were lovely friendly staff.

Always a fan of a good coffee shop, Grounded is a great spot. Child friendly, dog friendly. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The cakes and pasteries are amazing. I am a huge fan of their Chai tea. It is what makes me come here time and time again.

Visited on a Sunday at 1pm, nice atmosphere but let down by many aspects: 1. Drinks - viewed menu & chose 6 o’clock gin with a fever tree tonic - no 6 o’clock gin or fever tree tonic! 2. Ordered Poached eggs on English muffins - no muffins so told it would come with toast, when it eventually arrived the bread had hardly seen the toaster 3. Ordered at the same time as our friends but paid separately, our friends food arrived but ours was no where to been seen. Friends finished eating before our food arrived 4. Visited the ladies - door wouldn’t lock, dirty loo roll on the seat, very dirty & hand drier didn’t work Sadly very disappointing!

We waited over 50 minutes for our food to come and then it was luke warm. I complained to the waiter but he just informed me that it was his first shift.

Food is awful. Staff are great. Grounded, if you sort out your menu, you will be great. Your staff are fantastic.

The manager was super sweet to me and my kids. She spoke to my daughter for ages about being a barista and was so lovely and helpful. The food is always delicious (we go every Monday!) and the drink selection is good. We love the playground in the back garden!

I went for some drinks with my gf Tunde and maristella was serving that day both of them so polite and very helpful. They always made sure we felt welcomed and explained a bit of what was going on that night as they had an open mic. Both ladies super friendly

Just popped in for coffee, but a lovely atmosphere and little patio with a small child play area, I was impressed and will try the food next time 😁

I had a panini and chips. Took a while to come but worth the wait. All delicious and good sized portions, very reasonably priced. Chips were amazing ! Will definitely go again.

Service was lovely, came in for a pint with mates, left with a delicious slice of cake. The manager on shift T had some really friendly and welcoming banter.

We went for lunch and spent time choosing a pizza we wanted. But they wouldn't serve that before 4pm and it wasn't mentioned on the menu either but apart from that everything was great. We had vegetarian breakfast, blueberry muffins and tea.

I visited with my daughter for a delicious brunch and was served by a lovely lady called T.. who was super friendly, personable and extremely helpful. The food was delicious and we will return.

Food was terrible eggs was swimming in oil , sausage very cheap quality and bacon well 🤢 posh toast with margarine on it no butter won’t be visting again and a waste of money

Had some lovely vegan shakshuka with egg substituted by tofu. Really lovely and flavoursome sauce, but tofu a bit underwhelming. Great service by T the waitress, really polite, helpful and bubbly. Bathroom door needs a mend, but otherwise atmosphere in restaurant lively and welcoming.

Lovely relaxed place. Great on a hot evening with their opened up front. Quiz night every Tuesday for a bit of fun. Loyalty stamp cards for coffees and beers. 2 for 1 on pizzas between 7pm and 9pm Mon to Thurs. Friendly happy staff, outside area to the rear and dog friendly with water bowls, treats at the counter and a doggy breakfast menu! Great place to visit and relax

It's OK. Service was a bit slow

We normally enjoy this place but I think it’s important for the chef to recognise his errors and then motive upon what should have been a lovely breakfast. We had scrambled eggs on toast and I hate to criticise but the eggs were dry and majorly over cooked with zero flavour and not the best presentation either. Hope this helps for the future cooking of your eggs.

Scrambled eggs were a complete disaster. Something I would expect from a child learning and I hate to criticise as I’ve had other lovely food here. Timing is slow even for a coffee.

Food with flavour! We rarely eat out because it’s so often disappointing and overpriced. But after visiting this place 5 times during the day we’ve not been let down. Amazing breakfast. Great burgers and fries. Reasonable prices. Pleasant staff. Nice back garden. Relaxed atmosphere with no pretensions. Highly recommend.

Amazing service highly recommended

After our recent visit we certainly won’t be back anytime soon, which is a shame as we had visited twice before and both times it was lovely. It’s never very busy which makes sense recently as it seems to have gone downhill a lot. The atmosphere is stale and almost nonexistent. The place seems a little run down and lacking some form of management. The food has become pretty poor, so much so that I didn’t even eat half of my breakfast as nothing tasted very good. The hashbrowns were grease soaked, toast burnt, potatoes hard, we had to ask for black pudding that was forgotten from our breakfast too, which while they were edible, we wouldn’t call it great. The only things that were good were the bacon and beans, and it’s incredibly hard to ruin beans let’s be honest. They also didn’t have the full range of juices advertised and no ice either as they had run out, at 1:30pm on a Friday….not a great start to the afternoon and evening service.

Ordered lasagne it took them 15min to say they didn't habe so went with the carbanara but it was dry no sauce left mist of it, the waitress was lovely though

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place has gone down hill so much, the food in general has got so bad, increasing prices but lower quality. We used to enjoy a breakfast here but we have since gone elsewhere due to the quality. We had a fish finger sandwich today which was low quality, my bread was toasted and on the burnt side, there wasn’t enough cutlery, the fish fingers were no better than frozen ones you can get from supermarket and we waited 15mins for drinks because they forgot we ordered them. The place in general is very grubby and the tables are very sticky. They need to adapt to the competition around them if they are going to survive, as plenty better options now available….

This used to be the best place in fishponds for breakfast, I am afraid no longer, my breakfast was disappointing to say the least….so much chives unneeded snotty egg and garlic butter fried mushrooms warm bread not toast the only good thing is the sausage….£13 for 2 is excessive even in the current inflationary times

When new to the area this was one of the first cafés we visited, and a year in it's now a firm favourite with us and our 2 year old (he loves the chandeliers and babycinos ☺️). Nice food, not too expensive, and the staff are always friendly and helpful.

For the managers , i have come in grounded few times and I must say it's not been great and the food , the welcoming is poor , and staff have no idea on customers, even sit watching you struggling through door, toast was cold hard and snapped and I like mine soft to make sarnie with it, so clearly toast was sat cold on side before buttering toast, I was charged wrongly, I have looked at reviews and its appalling and as a manager I would be appalled to read so many similar comments, and you have not learnt from first bad reviews.. I would say same to one customer it's no wonder your cafe is not full , you have many cafes and could of had a great opportunity however you have lost alot customers, staff and managers at fault and I will contact head office

I was looking for a space to work for a morning. Grounded staff were welcoming, the music was chilled, the coffee was delicious and the vegan breakfast was varied and hearty. I didn't want to leave.

Was going to Pinto Lounge over the road but full up there and VERY noisy. Decided to go to Grounded instead. A great option, still fairly full but quiet and the food was delicious.

Lovely lunch at Grounded today. I must say it has changed enormously since the last time we were there. They have a new manager called Laura who seems to have turned it round. The staff are now so friendly and the food was really good. I had the vegan avocado brunch and it was delicious. My partner had the spinach and feta shakshuka. Good value and well presented. Good atmosphere and welcoming.

There were 3 of us, 2 of us ordered coffee, 1 Latte and 1 Cappuccino both were just about Luke warm, we all had veggie burgers definitely the worst we have ever had, a lot smaller than the bun and totally tasteless, no greet when you walk in and no goodbye or did you enjoy your meal on leaving, the staff really look as though they do not want to be there, service was terrible, definitely will not be returning, no wonder there were empty tables, everywhere else around there was full up.

It's a shame that this place has gone downhill so much! It's a big place and could be a thriving café but there is no atmosphere and the food is really bad these days. They can't even get a toasted tea cake right. Mine came out cold, was so dry and like a brick. I was scared to eat it in case my tooth broke! It's never a good sign either when plates of uneaten food are left behind on the tables. But there's was no wonder why when you look at it. They had run out of diet coke and earl grey tea, so my friend settled for tap water! My friend had the shakshuka and she said it lacked any flavour. The staff don't seem that bothered by you being there. There is no friendly welcome when you enter and no goodbye. They don't ask if the food is OK either. The only good points are that the coffee is very nice and the outside bit at the back is a suntrap and has a wooden play house for younger kids. Unfortunately, I don't think I will go back which is a shame as I want to support local businesses, but I would rather spend my money elsewhere. :(

Drinks were great, food took a long time to come and was rubbish. Staff were really unhelpful.

4 meals took 45mins to show up. This is ok if you're warned the kitchen is slammed but it didn't seem that busy in there and nothing was said... So... When they showed up they were fine though. Biggest issue... The place is filthy, bathrooms are pretty gross and thick with dust. Poster io detailing an offer from summer 2022... It's Jan 2023.

Been waiting an hour for a breakfast so far.

If I could give 0 stars I would, but unfortunately you have to give 1 star as a minimum. One breakfast was missed off the order. Instead of apologising and offering to make the breakfast straight away. The waitress rudely insisted it was our fault and wouldn’t do anything until we paid extra for it. The food was put to the back of the queue and came out 30 mins after (the food was also cold).

Ok but we went on a Tuesday and were not aware that it was quiz night and it ruined because we were sat right by the speaker and quiz host so could not hear ourselves over the noise. They had run out of chicken, gluten free pasta and had labelled the pudding wrong so it was totally different to what was ordered.

It's always nice to find somewhere that has gluten free food, especially cakes! We just ordered a few snacks but everything came quickly. The staff were really nice and friendly, they also turned the music down for us when we asked as our friend with ADHD was struggling with background noise. Overall the place was nice ,clean and a great place to meet up for a coffee.

Nice place to visit for a fry up. If you go before 11am you get a free coffee. The staff were a little behind with the drink orders which was a surprise as it wasn’t that busy. I would visit again when in the area.

One of a chain of cafe lounges in and around Bristol, possibly all round the country for all I know. Double espresso, very good There's a terrace outside - wooden decking in a rather uninspiring back yard, with depressing battleship grey walls except for a Fishponds mural - we went outside but it promptly started raining. Inside it's wooden floors and wooden tables. Comfy sofa by the window, smiley lady brought my coffee over for me. I think the comfy sofa is probably the best seat in the house

Absolutely fantastic place. Went in the early afternoon the other day and the server, James, went absolutely above and beyond. Friendly, helpful, very kind! Service like that creates lifelong customers and I’ll definitely be going back!! The food was also delicious, with every effort being made to accommodate my friend’s dietary requirements and answer all her questions about the menu. Made for a perfect afternoon!
