Had an impromptu visit to the Red Lion and entered with a very warm welcome from the staff. We shared a starter trio asian chicken skewers served with raita, katchumba salad and poppadom crisps - absolutely fabulous!! We had a side of cheesey garlic bread too!! Mains scampi and chips or and steak and ale pie ( homemade!!) all served on hot plates and piping hot too!! The pie was definitely homemade and the pastry crumbly and buttery!! It was a lovely countryside feel, and we will definitely be returning again. Thanks guys, well done!! 😋😋

When it’s open it’s ok. Seems to be run as a hobby though because the opening times are haphazard at best. Rubbish wine choice. Only a few beers available. God knows when the CAMRA award was given. No chance now. Avoid this pub and go elsewhere.

Just had a great family meal at the White Hart. We used to love the food under the old management and chef, but this was even better. The little touches like home made bread with the starters made all the difference Really hope they succeed, we’ll be back!

This is probably our 4th or 5th stop off at The Crown on the way home. A pub we discovered not long after lockdown after walking in Cheddar . It is an absolute stunner- a hidden gem. Traditional olde worlde with proper stone floors and a roaring fire. Lots of outside space but today after a walk at Goblin Combe we dropped by and that roaring fire was very welcome. We grabbed a couple of ales which were very nice and on a whim ordered a sandwich each. We’ve never eaten there before and these were amazing . My wife has rare roast beef and there must have been about an inch thick of lovely thinly sliced beef. I had ham and cheddar on granary - again absolutely thick with filling and lovely bread. It seems silly fussing over a sandwich but even the side salad was very good. I can’t wait to come back and have a lasagna on another cold day after walking. Staff have always been very friendly -it is obviously a locals pub but has never felt that they treat outsiders any different. Probably the best pub we’ve ever been to?

Googled a pub around Stroud and came upon this one. Emailed to reserve a table and had a confirmation email back within an hour or so. A smiley lady behind the bar directed us to the restaurant. Greeted by a young lady who was very pleasant. 5 of us in our party including an 8 year old and an 11 year old. Ordered ciabatta, baguette, omelette and jacket potato. All of which was freshly prepared, well presented and good quality and arrived fairly swiftly. Husband had a pint of Butty Bach which seemed to go down well! There was a children's menu but our children preferred a baguette! Children's menu was fairly standard but mash on offer as well as chips. Will definitely return.

There’s always a big warm welcome from Helen and her wonderful team at the Lord Nelson, our favourite Somerset pub for miles around. Four of us went for dinner on St Valentine’s and had the best evening. The bar has been refurbished since we last ate there and it looks terrific - light, airy and stylish - but the pub has still retained its cosy feel. The food was amazing and up to chef Mark’s usual high standards. I just loved my tuna, pak choi and noodles and the fish and chips, scampi and chicken, bacon and Brie dishes all got a big thumb’s up from my friends. And as for the chocolate fudge cake and salted caramel ice cream….. Can’t wait to eat there again!

Very cold and unwelcoming reception from young girl at the bar. The other lady quite friendly. Didn't know if they did food. Mostly a mans pub vibe.
