Our first visit for four years because of COVID and disruption to holiday plans. The pub is still looking lovely, just like a local should be. My wife and I both had the Sunday lunch, roast lamb. A generous portion, beautifully cooked, and not a scrap of fat or gristle. Large selection of fresh vegetables. When our plates arrived we both thought we wouldn’t manage it all, but we ate every last morsel. The family running the pub are very friendly and welcoming. Very highly recommended.

Popped in post a round of golf at West Bay. From the second we walked in and the warm welcome we received I knew it would be good. Landlady made you feel at home straight away. Cider was great and the food was fabulous. No brainer if passing through. Will visit again very soon.

Splendid Steak, Ale & Mushroom Suet Pastry Pie with fresh vegetables made a very hearty lunch. The staff were very hospitable and were welcoming. Spotlessly clean; it proved to be a most welcome find on Bank Holiday Monday. A very good and wide menu selection too.

Visited on last night of our Easter break and sorry we didn’t go earlier. Wet, miserable night but had great table by window and roaring fire. Really welcoming atmosphere with friendly staff. Food was excellent value - with plenty of choice for all tastes. Everything was clearly freshly cooked and piping hot. Simple but not always easy to find in many places now. Hope to visit again when in area.

We went for Christmas Dinner late in the month as we where going away for Christmas. This was Friday the 22nd and I think it was the last day of Christmas Dinners (and I was dinner number 297 served in December )!! As usual the service was excelent, the food was good and the customers in a festive mood. My starter should have been prawns in filo pastry, but as I cannot stanf the stuff I asked for Prawns in a Yorkshire pudding !! (I got it with some frowning by Gail). I followed this with Beef as well as Turkey, all cooked to my satisfaction. I can only ask that when you look at comment left by customers you also look at the number of comment they have left and how many over what length of time !! Finally all the best to Gail and Jo along with there small number of staff for all the great service, food and drink they supply us with over the six and a half days a week all year .

Saturday Breakfast with an ex Mariner behind the bar. We seemto be able to order a pint just as the Copper needs changing (they sell a lot) so Darren ends up in the cellar more often than not. Full breakfast (not much plate showing, as they say). As I can only do 1 review per month on Tripadvisor I have to incorporate other meals in this one. Food good with a wide range on the menu and always 8 to 10 meals on the specials board. Not always have to book in advance but on certain nights (Curry night Friday and Steak night and Sunday Lunch ) it may be a good idea, even though the full menu is available on those nights as well.

What a great welcoming traditional village pub. We were lucky enough to be staying in Beaminster and wondered into this pub as it looked busy and had a sign saying “Dogs Welcome”. Well it’s not just the dogs that were welcomed, we all were!!! Lovely chatty staff and regulars. A lovely couple even bought our dogs a pup cake each. We felt so welcomed we went back for a drink another night and a meal and drinks another. The food was great quality, a great choice (even for me as a Coeliac) and very reasonably priced. Should we visit the area again we will definitely pop in and recommend others do too.

Whilst saying in the Town for 5 days we had dinner at the Inn on 3 occasions, each time we were looked after very well and enjoyed all of the meals we had. Reason why we came back. Its really nice to see establishments like the Inn doing so well and this can only be down to the owners approach on running their business. The choice of local ales, a varied choice of food but just enough to suit most peoples tastes. We were always made welcome and felt as valued customers, each night the Inn was busy and its was great to see. We would highly recommend the Inn and if we are back in the area its a place we will be heading back to.

In particular the welcome and service was of a very high caliber. Certainly if we are in the area we will return again. Just one point is that the portions were far to big and feel they could be reduced by about a quarter thus leaving room for more sales i.e, desserts/sweets. Two mains at full price from the Specials and two halves of lager was £26, which I considered that a very good lunch considering that the plates were full. I noticed this time we were in the UK, that some pubs have become big screen TV and fast food places where tourists and truckers stop. Noisy and too much like NA pubs. The Greyhound is NOT like that. This is where the locals come, talk and bring their dogs, but even they make reservations, so you should too. We went twice for dinner. The first night was curry night. Delicious Rojan Josh with all the trimmings, and washed down with Copper Dorset Ale. The second night we enjoyed chicken pie or half chicken and had Dorset Apple Cake with ice cream for dessert. Amiable bloke who keeps a clean tidy pub and most importantly above anything else his beer is good, after all that is what a pub is all about. We looked at various places for a quick lunch and found this cosy little Inn. A homely atmosphere, simple old fashioned place with a number of locals. We found the main menu a little pricy but they did have a selection of quick meals. We opted for the Cod and chips. The portion was adequate for the price The batter was crispy, the Cod a bit over cooked. A good selection of local Cider. Recommend this place for a quick lunch without the trappings of a restaurant.

I have passed by many times and a month ago called in for a pint. I was extremely surprised by what I found. A welcoming, clean, cosy pub.

We wanted an early meal as we are all OAP’s and do not enjoy a late meal, we waited over an hour after ordering our meal. Others came in after us and got their meals before us and we had mostly ordered from the specials board. The food was disappointing.

We called on a Tuesday night in October and must have got the last table as the place was full at 7.30pm. As far as I could see they use local suppliers and my lamb steaks were perfect. There were 6 of us and we were the last to order so the kitchen was under pressure and we had a wait, but it was worth it. Superior pub grub with plenty of choice as it's a specials menu rather than the usual limited choice you get in a pub. I enjoyed my meal including traditional dessert at least as much as two other dinners at much more expensive restaurants in Beaminster.

Somewhat grumpy when I went in at yardarm, as it had taken so long to travel just a short distance from Bridport, about two hours in fact, due to the ridiculously restricted bus service - which terminated in Beaminster! Thankfully the pub was open, as a beer or two direly needed. An excellent pint of beer from the Palmers Brewers range (local producer), a very pleasant landlord who gave us details of a local taxi service, which proved very reliable and got us safely to the next step. I could happily have stayed all afternoon in this lovely pub, the food looked gorgeous and reasonably priced with all sorts of specials on the chalkboards around. The pub quickly filled up at lunchtime so is clearly popular with locals. Alas though, we had to go, will certainly make a point of visiting here when next in Bridport.

A group if us including a dog stopped in here for dinner whilst walking the Jubilee trail last weekend. The hospitality was second to none, especially as we were all dirty and probably smelly. The food was delicious and very welcome after a full day of walking! It was a bonus that they are extremely dog friendly. Couldn’t have stopped at a nicer place, highly recommended!

Had a week in a Lodge in Corscombe with friends, we went here for a meal, the food was really good, so good we went another night! Great menu and other choices on the blackboard. Great value for money, the lamb chops were to die for ( hubby's words!) We would thoroughly recommend going here, good beer, good food and a lovely atmosphere, friendly staff too.

Booked a table in advance to be on the safe side & I am glad I did as all the tables were taken. We both had the black pudding stack to start which was very good with the stilton on top! A fish pie & a mixed grill for mains. Great meals for a good price!
