Silly fresh dont come here so often

Carvery was poor. Meats were rubbish and veg was cold. Bar area was good with TV screens.

Great hosts beer cheap fantastic service. Very friendly.

Good Beer good atmosphere thoroughly enjoyable evening

Been a loyal customer all year and got treated absolutely horrendously by the landlord and a member of the staff tonight. Was absolutely disgusting and very disappointed considering my previous fond feelings to the pub. I would like an explanation and an apology.

Very nice pub - was able to accommodate Sunderland v West Brom despite a premier league fixture going on. Also some rugby. Bar staff all excellent and a nicely poured pint of Guinness Guinness is £4.00 Yeah that's not a typo £4. I recommend highly

Student pub. This is simply a student pub and should not be considered by non-students as a possible drinking establishment. Having said that, I went there and it was alright! Cheers!

First visit here with the North Devon Grecians , what a great pub ! We had such a friendly welcome. It’s a very attractive building with lots of windows. It’s a open plan pub which is on level ground. Loads of t.vs and a very well stocked bar. I noted that there were a lot of bar staff and they were all well presented and were very friendly. Well done to the manageress Graham Norman.

The young women who served me at the bar I believe her name is suchi was a wonderful young lady who served me. Also the young man named Reve really made my experience of this pub 10/10. Highly recommend!!!

Amazing service every time! The atmosphere never disappoints - this is THE student pub in exeter. The staff always serve us with a smile, especially Suchey who always goes out of her way to make us feel welcome.

I can’t describe in words the experience I had today, a friend recommended this pub to me today and I was so nervous to try out a new pub but the bartender suchi made me feel so safe and happy. I love suchi and I love the vic

I rated 5 stars for food, though they do not do food, BUT, the service, my oh my, I don’t think I am understated when I say that the experience was nothing short of phenomenal. So phenomenal I just had to give the whole place 5 well earned stars from top to bottom. To begin, I entered the quaint establishment, and was immediately hit with the palpable, joyful atmosphere. For a student bar, the aesthetics were wonderful and charming. As I approached the bar a lovely young bartender, I think her name was suchi, served me with a smile and made me feel like she really cared about providing a great service. I ordered a classic thatchers gold, and it was poured excellently, and for a great price! I only popped in for one after my shift at work, but the energy was infectious and the working attitude of the staff was so amazing and nice to be a part of. I intend to visit this pub all the time and you should too!

The burgers at this establishment were decent, albeit not remarkable enough to rave about to others. However, the real highlight of the experience was their spicy chips, which offered a delightful and tasty twist. I can attest that while the burger's overall quality didn't stand out as exceptional, the distinctly flavorful chips successfully compensated for it, providing a satisfactory dining experience.

Went with my brother Anton. He was feeling a bit shy but when we met a few mysterious girls he cheered right up. No disrespect but I feel that the pub was pretty good. It definitely has its own style, but if I had to say one it would probably be a mix between a student pub and local. It’s a good mix. Woah woah woah this pub is really good!

Terrible servicio al cliente. Me dieron una mesa que ni siquiera era una mesa (una mesa de billar con una lámina de plástico). Después de pedir educadamente que nos cambiaran a una mesa disponible, nos dijeron que esperáramos a que la limpiaran. Después de esperar, llegó un nuevo grupo y les dio la mesa. Aparte del impactante servicio, hubo una falta de seguimiento de las reglas de COVID. La gente ni siquiera usaba máscaras cuando se movía por el pub e incluso vio a un grupo de chicas entrar para no sentarse y buscar su propia mesa. Ni siquiera se les dijo que nos moviéramos porque el distanciamiento no estaba presente. ¡Sin seguimiento y rastreo también! ! No volveré a ir.

Lovely place to have a pint. Friendly very helpful staff. Nice environment old fashioned but with a modern twist. Clean tidy and comfortable. When they get the kitchen up and running it will be a good all round pub. Highly recommend this pub.

WOW!! This is an under rated pub.. new management. Trying hard. And doing a good job. Such a warm welcoming feel. Love the decor the vibe. Free pool and Juke box on Sundays. That's a winner winner chicken dinner

Only ever here for a drink. It's a nice cosy place with always a few nice ales on tap and the draft maltsmith is a really nice pint.

This pub really aught to be more supported. When the students are away it's almost empty. It has great beer well kept and an enthusiastic new landlord. Pool, table football and a selection of board games. It's going to have s kitchen refit during the summer so the good pub grub that it currently serves will no doubt get even better. Come on people of Pennsylvania and Stoke Hill, get behind this great local pub!

Since being referbished I have been once. The staff didn't seem to want us there which was odd. Also unsure if it is possible to order food there like it was before new management.

An excellent local, and that's coming from a non student! Well kept ales, good atmosphere. Pool table, juke box, quiz machine, TVs, regular open mics and quizzes. You couldn't ask for much more.

Used to be such a good pub but what has happened? It's £5 for a small glass of wine, there's never anything in stock, food has got smaller and worse. I echo other reviews on this. Avoid. Will never be frequenting this place again.

This pub used to be good. It had good burgers and a great atmosphere. Since then, food quality has only gone down with the introduction of the '2-4-1' deals they have on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Waited nearly an hour for our food, buns stale, burgers dry, and chips hard. The only good thing about our visit was the drinks, which are part of the 2-4-1 deal and they have an okay at best selection. Will not visit again.

Nice inside and great atmosphere. Burgers were ok, nothing to write home about, but the spicy chips were good. AVOID TUESDAY NIGHTS! The place gets swamped with students attending the quiz. We took part once but noticed one team with a notebook of answers written in it, which kind of defeats the point of the quiz? All in all not bad for some drinks. Just avoid Tuesdays!

Horrible. Really Horrible. We were a big group that had preordered weeks ago (about 40 people). Had to wait over 2 hours for food and when it came it was less than impressive, however several people did not even get the food they ordered because the kitchen closed before they managed to finish cooking it. Severely understaffed made for SUPER SLOW service. VERY RUDE management, not to mention old-fashioned inventory. Nothing about it is worth even a minute of your time. Expensive drinks and very simple menu as well as not particularly clean restrooms. The management's/owner's response was to blame us although this event was planned and confirmed weeks ago. He was rude and unprofessional, ensuring none of us will ever enter the place again. He really just couldn't seem to care less about this place.

The Vic, as it's known among the students from University of Exeter, is my favourite pub in Exeter. One reason is it's proximity to the university, but it also has a great service and the best burghers and chips you'll find in Exeter! The selection of beer isn't great though, they offer 3 brands of ale, 3 of larger, and 3 of cider plus some cocktails. There's also a pool table and if you're lucky you might meet Oscar, the owner's lovely dog.

I went into this pub with a group of 5 friends, we went up to order burgers (the only items on the menu) and after the 3rd person had paid we were told they only had 3 burgers left... We were clearly all ordering food and it was early evening, would have been useful to be told before we ordered. On another note there are always at least 2 drinks on tap which have run out. Simply put, the just in time approach to inventory isn't working out for them.

Good little local pub. Wednesdays tends to be the student night out in town and this is a place to avoid if you prefer not to to be around that.

Ordered two burgers on a Monday, both burgers were included in two for one deal. Was told we couldn't have two for one on the burgers because the two burgers had to be the same, even though this was absolutely not mentioned on the menu. When my mexican burger arrived it was missing guacamole, when I enquired as to my lack of guacamole I was told they had run out. I was not informed of this before I ordered the burger as according to my manager the person that took my order wasn't actually working there that day. Also my burger came with normal fries when they should have been curly. Just felt like I didn't get at all what was advertised to me and was made to feel like management really couldn't care less about this, probably because I was a student and thus not really a real customer.

I've had great pub grub here many times and the beer is excellent. It's in a Student area of Exeter so it's always lively with a friendly vibe during term times.

I have frequented 'The Vic' with friends whilst being at university, but in the last few months it has gone downhill significantly. My recent visit fell on the night of the pub quiz (Tuesday), which always fills out the whole pub. However, it appeared that there were only two members of staff on shift on this particularly busy Tuesday. The management will know how busy they get on a pub quiz night, and so it seemed ridiculous that there was only one member of staff behind the bar. The poor bar lady continuously had a queue of about 10/15 people waiting to be served. My food eventually arrived about in approximately 45 minutes. Admittedly, the quality of the food was great and of reasonable value. However, the experience would have been much better had the service been faster. My friends and I only bought one drink because we didn't want to queue again. I'm sure there were many more people in the pub that felt the same. And so, having more staff behind the bar wouldn't only have been for our benefit, but for the benefit of your business.
