Best fish pie ever. Friendliest place I have ever stayed. Lots of nooks and crannies and staircases, just like Fowey itself. At the quieter end of town and with free parking for Hotel guests.

We saw an advertisement for D Day Special Fish & Chips for £8, so we booked ourselves in. They had reserved us a lovely table and the food was cooked so fresh and piping hot. Beautiful battered Cod, Chips, Peas, Bread and Butter all for £8! The ambiance was friendly and service great. We then indulged in Bread and butter pudding made by Gill which was also delicious. I would highly recommend The Safe Harbour and will definitely return when we visit Fowey again. ☺️

Stayed one night, hotel is typical hotel/pub conveniently sited in middle of town close to amenities. Be aware Fowey is small town with lots of steep roads and paths! Hotel has a number of compact rooms but with suprisingly good modern facilities. Excellent breakfasts including a full Cornish are supplied. Only issue we had was there was no food on the Saturday we were there but there are plently of other options close by

I was very happy when I visited this premises, I was on a weekend break with my husband and our best friends from Ireland. We went in around 7 in the evening and we were in high spirits, it was very quiet, there was about 5 people at the bar, one being a child. We ordered our drinks and took in the surroundings, there was 2 men in their 60,s at bar with an Indian family( they could of been another nationality but excuse my ignorance) , the 2 older men insulted the foreign family unbeknowns to that family, we were disgusted, the bar woman didn't seem to see it.They then asked the family if they were Irish or Mexican Irish??? So bloody insulting, I cannot believe this country tolerates this absolute rubbish.. I as an Irish visitor in an amazing place in this country am outraged and disgusted that national front still exists in our world of peace and good living. It was evident the foreign people were unaware as they were peace loving people but it was infuriating as normal good living people.

We stumbled across the Safe Harbour whilst staying nearby. We walked into the ‘public bar’ and didn’t realise there was another side, but this didn’t matter. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming. We enjoyed a great pint (or two) and a game of darts . Thank you Safe Harbour!

We had been booked to stay here for one night only as our final night on our 7-day trek from Penzance. First of all, I wrote to Management several weeks before our stay to enquire about a taxi service and also to enquire about breakfast times since we had a 300 mile journey on the morning of our departure. We did not receive a reply. Upon our arrival at the Inn, we were advised that they had no space for eating that night and also that there was a live band. After 9 hours and 18 miles walking that day - Mevagissey to Fowey - we were not best pleased at the prospect of being kept awake until the early hours. The music played until midnight. Also, breakfast not served until 08.30 which, again, disappointing. This was the latest breakfast for us all week. Most establishments served breakfast from 08.00 with 2 other St Austell brewery Inns on our trip serving breakfast from 07.30 which suited us during our walking week as we wished to be on our way by 8.15 with mostly 8/9 hr walking days ahead of us. Not a suitable place to stay for walkers, if you want a decent night's sleep and if you wish to be on your way sharpish in the morning. Not only discourteous in not asking its guests if they wish to book in for dinner but also not replying to emails :-( You can probably surmise from this post that I am not happy. I will be writing more positively about other places we stayed during our week. This was the worst!

Don't even think of going. Been coming to Fowey since 1967. Been going to pub since 1977. Popped in to Safe Harbour this evening. Had to ask 3 times for beer as bar staff glued to TV. No welcome. No conversation. No guests. Worst pub experience EVER. Such a shame. Used to be great late night spot but won't be back for atleast another decade.

I stayed at this hotel for the 3rd time since April. As a lone female traveller its important to feel safe. Staff are very friendly, food was great, eaten in their lounge bar and the Cornish rattler cider was cold and refreshing. The front rooms have a great view down over the rooftops to the river. As these rooms face the street you do get some noise from the bus which reverses to the bus stop right outside and occasionally from people as they leave the pub. I took earplugs as I already knew what to expect. Beds are comfy and nice selection of tea in the rooms. Books and DVDs to borrow as well if you want. Breakfast is served in the first floor restaurant again with a great view down to the river. Choice of hot breakfasts as well as cereals. Some parking at the back of the hotel which in Fowey is like gold dust! The hotel is at the top of a steep hill but only 3-5 mins walk downhill and you're in the town. If you're walking the Saints Way its about 3 mins walk (uphill) from the final Church in Fowey. The bus to Par (mainline railway station Penzance to London Paddington line) leaves from right outside and takes about 20mins to get to the railway station. Ideal. My tip is to walk into Town, grab a coffee and sit on town Quay just watching the boats ply up and down the river - just gorgeous. And visit Readymoney beach and St Catherine's Castle - the remains of a Tudor castle with its twin across the river. Stunning views.

Room review only. I was given Room 6 which was nicely decorated and furnished, etc with a lovely shower room BUT air conditioning/chiller units under the window to apparently keep their cellar cool! These came on and off until 12.30 am! So a dreadful nights sleep in this establishment and the managers didn’t apologise or offer to do anything about it - when I called them in desperation for them to turn them off they knew I was in room 6! So obviously the dog of the available rooms. The room is tiny so very difficult to move around a double bed if you have luggage. Not impressed!

Absolutely disgusting customer experience. They had tables for local fowey residents only with notices on and a very obnoxious customer sat at the end of the bar telling you that you wernt welcome to sit there and the bar staff agreed and said I was rude and not the man at the end of the bar! Although I live Cornwall! Our friends was staying in Fowey, we thought we would take them around the town. We were all extremely embarrassed by their arrogant attitude in the pub regarding holiday makers . Won't be visiting there again and wasn't made to feel welcome even before we ordered a drink.

Also wish breakfast was served earlier. I would stay here again but in an ideal world with a much firmer mattress, but it was better than the Ships!! Breakfast was good, service with a smile, however someone needs to tighten the hinges on the slamming door that ruined my morning. eggs cooked perfectly to my preferences. It wasn't the servers fault she was run off her feet - only one woman working for a restaurant full of people. A nice old style pub. Nice beer. A shame the lady behind the bar could not assist me with the post code, for my party to join me. Despite their free fayre, the posties were no help either. I returned to the car park and we had a day out in Charlestown instead.

We have just spent several very enjoyable evenings at this really friendly and local pub. The pub is up the hill from the harbour so loses some of the tourists and thus has more of a local feel to it. The menu is good and comprehensive and all our meals were excellent, tasty, plenty of, and well presented. They have a bar, lounge and restaurant upstairs so plenty of choice, but our everlasting impression will be "friendly and charming". thank you.

The stairs are steep and the Hotel is at the top of the hill but the views are wonderful and the service friendly throughout our stay. Given the lack of parking in Fowey the hotel's own carpark is a real asset.

Well what can one say Graham and Carol at the Safe Harbour have excelled themselves once again with the opening of The River View resturant, we were all privileged to last nights 10 course tasting menu - which was fantastic, great work by you and your team.

Called in for a pint at lunchtime, the place was clean, the staff were welcoming, and the beer was good. Did'nt stay for lunch but the menu looked good and packed with local fish.It probably gets very busy in the summer though but that would still put it above the Galleon Inn further down the hill on the quay side.

The Safe Harbour is reached via a short walk from the main town car park, or a walk up some steep hills from the main road through the various shops, hotels and bars. As such, it is a little out of the way if you want to visit a few pubs during the evening, great if you plan to settle down and enjoy the evening in one place. Decent beer, and friendly staff.

We were staying in The Fowey Hotel just up the road from here but found the restaurant to be a bit 'stuffy' and the menu overpriced and uninspiring so a short walk down the road led us to this little gem. The service was so friendly, and the food was excellent. If the salmon and prawn linguine is on the menu it is a must have, packed with fish and absolutely delicious. The fish and chips was huge, such fresh, flakey fish and gorgeous chips. We also indulged in the sticky toffee pudding and didn't regret one sinful bite! Thanks to the staff for looking after us so well. We will definitely be back!

This is of course not on a par with La Gavroche, LE MANOIR AUX QUAT'SAISONS etc - but for good honest food and a reasonable price - Safe Harbour takes some beating.4 of us wanted to participate in their monthly quiz and we needed to eat too. Very hospitable welcoming Landlord/Landlady and serving good food. F&Chips; Hake in sauce; fish pie and excellent (Kittows local butcher) rib eye. All good; but the gem of the evening was Vicky the Barmaid/waitress - friendly; efficient; knowledgeable and more.If I was going to open a restaurant (at any level - Gastro-pub to high end) I'd employ her on a profit share - and we'd both make a lot of money!

The bus stop is opposite. This pub offers excellent take away coffee. It's a no brainer to buy a coffee from The Safe Harbour and then drink it on the bus stop whilst watching the expert bus drivers manoeuvre the buses into position.

We really like this place as it it has a good honest vibe and good food. This evening we had the sea bass which was absolutely delicious. A generous portion with two fillets that were cooked to perfection. Reasonably priced and great service. The only surprise this time was that we were the only ones dinning on a Saturday evening! you don't know what you're missing people...especially visitors to Fowey. It's worth the walk up from the town to find the Safe Harbour.

I ate at the bar/ restaurant nice atmosphere great for eating alone. Quality food on the menu I had fish pie which was good. I could see there was good portions of crab linguine and fish of the day. A little better value than at the quayside. A quiet dog was in the pub. The bar full on the evening I was there too. Nice cornish ales and ciders too. I have stayed there previously a pleasant B&B and I would return. Walk up the hill from the Quay.

I had my evening meal and also breakfast in the morning.Evening meal - staff member was brilliant and saw how disillusioned I had become from my first day of cycling. She let me take my meal to my room and it was just what I needed. Scampi and chips were spot along with the peas.Breakfast - I think the owner was present in the morning and we were duly given our food. Absolutely loved it and we had a really good conversation as well. Lovely place to stay and eat. Would definitely recommend.

So good, we visited this pub 4 times in 10 days during our stay with our 10 year old son and found the Safe Harbour to be great quality home cooked food, excellent value for money and friendly, welcoming and accommodating staff. The 3 local ales are excellent and well kept. For food, there is a good menu and also many specials on the blackboard, often reflecting recent bountiful catches from the fishermen. Would highly recommend.
