Terrible I know 1 star is bad and and can come across as personal, but this place was truly that bad. We ordered a mushroom burger (advised by bar staff) and a butter milk chicken burger, a side of fries and an ice-cream. 2 drinks and 2 kiddy drinks. £65 The food was so underwhelming, And not how described. The burger was roughly 8cm in diameter on cheap basics bread. I small slice of tomato 2 mushrooms and a leaf of lettuce. I paid extra to have the smallest slice of cheese and some pickled jalapenos.... £20 The butter milk chicken burger was a small plain chicken breast. The type you buy frozen. When I asked the waitress if this was normal. There was an instant wall up. It was a simple question that could of had a simple explanation. (Maybe Chefs ill and someone else cooking or run out of ingredients) instead we got resistance. And I had to say, this isn't about you or anything but about the poor food. I wasn't blaming the waitress but the question had to be asked. The chicken was apparently cooked in a sauce (it was not). And was told in actual words "what do you expect this is Padstow" I'm also a local and work in similar industry. You do not need to rip people off because we're in Padstow. It is that attitude that ruins the holiday makers experience. I can honestly say I'll never return.

The best fish and chips we've had in a long time. The fish was fresh and delicious, the peas tasted home grown and the chips were just right. Also had a pint of Daymar which was lovely. Highly recommend

First Week of Sept 24: The friendly staff where a credit to Cornish Tourism. Normally we eat at another harbour side pub, but chose The Old Ship as the courtyard seemed more cosy on a cloudy evening. The Tribute was good and really enjoyed the local Pork Chop and Creamy Mash. So stayed for a 2nd pint and the Chocolate pudding.... 😋 Also do a great job at deterring the flying white & grey thieves...!!

We have visited the restaurant a few times before and it has always been very good. Sadly this time our choice of food was ruined by the amount of Caesar salad dressing the chef had poured on the Chicken Caesar salad. My wife left most of hers and we spoke to the waitress who showed the chef and he agreed he put to much dressing on the salad. Hopefully, they don't spoil this in future.

Tried breakfast here for first time - Very basic, took a long time to come. Eggs were all overcooked (don’t offer poached if you can’t cook them). Staff were all obviously exhausted from the summer season and drained of any energy or enthusiasm so didn’t have it in me to send the food back or my coffee which was awful. £12 for full English which isn’t bad but it was all basic ingredients (kids weren’t impressed with the sausages at all).

I don’t mind Al dente but the cauliflower needed more time in oven. (I would give it a miss) and the roast potatoes 🤮 hard , tasted of salt, horrible .. A great find on a day in Padstow. Sitting out side with a pint of Rattlers cider and a great meal who could ask for more. The hotel specialised in fish dishes and to be honest at first glance did think everything was a bit pricey especially when so close to the sea. Ended up ordering the meaty chop and the three cheese linguine. The linguine was fabulously tasty. My wife had the meaty chop, and no better name could it have been called. The chop was almost an inch think and was huge, even the apple sauce accompanying it was special in that it was a stewed and flavoured apple serve in a baked apple skin. Would happily eat there again and might push out the boat to one of the fish dishes.

We stayed 5 nights in a superior double room. It was very spacious, with a sofa and 2 tvs (both fairly small) - one on the wall at the end of the bed, the other in the separate area in front of the sofa. Excellent shower with good pressure. The room was very clean and the staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was also very good, cooked fresh to order and high quality. The staff at breakfast work very hard to make sure everyone has what they need - even guest's dogs get a sausage. Our room was at the back and away from the street, so it was fairly quiet at night. Although there is no air conditioning, there was a powerful fan in the room that did the job well. We only had dinner at the restaurant once but the food was very tasty. Would definitely stay again.

On arrival we were not treated with a welcome but felt a hindrance, we were intentionally seated half in the front and half at the back of the restaurant and told they did that so we couldn’t talk to each other! Staff were very rude and unwelcoming. The restaurant was empty at the time and other families arrived and were seated around us. When we asked politely if we could sit a little closer (but still separate of course) we were told no. Beer was cloudy so we drank up quick and found somewhere more pleasant to dine. Seated quickly even though we were a large group that hadn’t pre-booked. Nice seating inside and outside, dogs welcomed inside. Great variation of alcohol and the food menu has something for everyone. Large portions, fresh food, friendly service and pretty accommodating. However, having to pay for everything after ordering and having to go to the bar to do so is so inconvenient, also having to wait for staff to come to your table and see if you would like any more drinks due to no ‘at bar’ service is equally annoying (although we admittedly didn’t sit with empty glasses for more than 10 minutes and the staff were doing their best). I understand the reason for doing so (infection control/covid-19) but a tab would have made life a hell of a lot easier and more enjoyable for both parties. Rather than asking if we want drinks/food, then going away to pass our order on, calling us to tell us the drinks are ready at the bar, us walking to the bar to pay and then coming back to relax with our drinks- doing this often as a family of 6 all finishing drinks at different times was pretty inconvenient. We asked about a tab and was told that they do not do tabs, just a heads up for others going there for more than one drink. Other than that it’s a really great pub.

Just returned from a wonderful three night stay at The Old Ship in Padstow. I always enjoy it there but during these uncertain times we all have a certain amount of apprehension. The staff at The Old Ship have worked tirelessly to put together a slick, well run COVID safe environment that ensures you feel protected whilst also being very well looked after. Without exception the staff were polite, friendly and welcoming - special shout out to Olivia and Ben for being so kind and lovely - the breakfasts were delicious and the room was clean and comfortable. I couldn’t have asked for more and will be back soon! Thank you to all the team for making me feel so welcome during my solo stay!

Popped into the Old Ship to get out of the rain and have something light to eat. There is a large bar area and inside and outside (covered) seating - with heating. We both had a crab sandwich on granary bread that was probably the best we’ve ever had. Generously filled and the bread wasn’t stodgy or bulked out with Trill. We’ll definitely come back if in the area and hungry.

Visited over Christmas with my family and found the place fairly empty. The table we sat at was on its last legs, but we persevered. As it was late in the day there was nothing left on the specials board so we chose from the menu. The food we were served was of poor quality with microwaved potatoes and raw vegetables and every now and then a faint smell of eau de Labrador wafted over the table. The beer was good though

Large pub in central Padstow very popular in summer and lovely and cosy on a recent December evening. Good choice of ales and wine. Very friendly staff on both visits , the menu looked good and the food we saw looked lovely.

As we have found in the past The Old Ship offers great food at normal Padstow prices but with a more interesting menu. The portions are generous and the staff very friendly.

A reasonably priced, quick veggie snack with good flavour, well presented by polite helpful staff. It was early and it was quiet but the food arrived quickly and hot.

Fortunately, there are a number of good food pubs in Padstow. This isn't one of them.Picked the Panko Seafood Burger off the menu for lunch at £14. Advertised as you can see from the menu photo at 'Seasonal Fish with King Prawn'...what I got was a mosty potato fishcake between a bun. The fishcake consisted of mostly potato, there was definitely some white fish in there, not a lot, and a few maybe 3-5 tiny cold water prawns that you might expect in a prawn cocktail, certainly not King Prawns. Anyway, I won't be going back. Worst food I've had in Padstow and we come here a lot!!

We had two different meals and both were very nice and tasty. The waitress was lovely and the hotel restaurant has a lovely ambience. Dogs are welcome inside but they also have a seating area outside if preferred. Can get busy for food but staff will always ensure they find you a seat as there is extra seating in the restaurant. Would recommend on a visit to Padstow as not overpriced, the staff are always friendly and helpful and it is never rushed.

Good choice of ales. Very Efficient and engaging staff. Had Cesar salad and falafels with hoummous. Both arrived promptly considering the pub was packed and a lot of patrons eating. It was tasty, delicious and copious. Will be eating there again.

I’ve stayed at a lot of different Hotels & Pub B&B in Fowey and other places in Cornwall!! But the king has surpassed them all beautiful, super clean room fabulous view. The staff was amazing and friendly. They were knowledgeable of the area gave me information even though I’ve been there several times of NEW places to visit. The food absolutely delicious from lobster ravioli starter to the scallop plus their Sunday roast. I will definitely be staying there again!! Last, but not least for once they had pillows that were plush not the flat hard as a Rock ones you usually get because I’m allergic to downfilled ones!! I could not say enough great things about staying there. Well done everyone at the King of Prussia. 5 stars

Our meal was very disappointing and it not that cheap either. I don't mind paying for good and tasty looking food. But this I wouldn't even give this to my dog. So where do I start. Std fish and chips X3 and a extra std portion of chips ( with free oil ) that's right the chips were soft undercooked and full of cooking oil. The fish batter was very soggy and most of the batter stuck to the box lid, the fish was was not nice. I am not even sure we were served Cod. We also found a blonde hair. Not sure how they achieved the award winning title of best fish and chips if they serve disgusting food like I had.
