A typical small village pub offering great hospitality. Made so welcome on the first visit, we went back the next day and had a fantastic Sunday roast. Just what was needed after a stretch of the SW coastal path

My husband and I stopped here for a spot of lunch before the Minack Theater! We had two drinks a sandwich each and some chips. The bill was over £50, which we would have been happy to pay for if the quality had matched the price. When asked if we were happy with our food we explained that the bread was dry and we were expecting more for the price, also the dressed salad is a salad garnish! We had no apology but did hear them having a good laugh about it in the kitchen whilst the bar staff were munching crisps behind the bar! Not value for money, a complete rip off!!

This authentic Cornish pub is always a delight to visit. I particularly loved the impromptu sea shanty session by all the patrons last time I was there. It is the closest pub to the Minack Theatre and so a perfect destination for pre or post-show drinks and/or dinner.

Visit by the Vincent HRD Owners Club 7th Sept 2024. A group of about 25 members of our classic motorcycle club had a pre-arranged visit to the Logan Rock Inn at Treen last weekend and had a lovely time there. We pre-booked our food with the staff and had the summer house reserved for us. We got a very warm welcome and soon got served with our drinks. A while later our lovely meals arrived and we were all very satisfied with them. I myself had the cheese n pickle sandwich, which was excellent. An excellent pub and totally recommended

The waitress was young, and didn't seem experienced, or know how to be relational. The outdoor table wasn't clean and the food was very average, which would have been fine (it tasted fine) but the price was way above what it was worth, in my opinion - fish pie with a tiny bit of stem broccoli and two pieces of carrot for just under £20. I'm really sad about this at it was my partner's birthday and we would have loved something that warranted the prices but we did not get that. Not sure I'd go again :(

Went to this village pub after an early evening event at the Minack theatre. Friendly, warm, cosy, dog friendly, good beer (Hicks Cornish Ale recommended), we just wanted a snack really so opted for sandwiches, £10 each (Crab sandwich £16). good fresh bread and a side salad. It ticked all of our boxes. Thank you. And a special thank you to the young couple who gave us a lift back to our Guest House (Sea View) afterwards when they saw us walking there in thick fog/mist. I would have said that this was the quintessential English village pub, but I won't say that because we are/were in Cornwall !!

It is overpriced and poor value, no question. Ate here twice and they do have a captive audience. A real shame as the location and Inn itself is very nice. Hake on smashed potato, small portion, was 28 pounds. Ridiculous. Nice real ales so recommend you keep it simple and have pint and a pasty/chips.

Expensive beer and very expensive for pub food - bar was rammed with food customers. Was served the wrong pint (tribute instead of proper job) and neither that nor the HSD the day before were particularly good servings of the beers. Bit of a captive market here and maybe the only option, but if they're open, try the lovely Farm and Fort cafe/bar, food trucks at the campsite, or even the campsite shop (which has very reasonably priced cans of Verdant beers, and great pasties).

Although still one of my favourite pubs, for decades, with great food, beer and friendly service, it's a shame that the back garden has lost some of its charm with recent work done one it. It used to be nice to enjoy the view of the hills and fields over the way, but now a rather bare high wooden fence around the whole garden blocks most of this. Also a load of the pretty plants and shrubbery around the border have been completely dug out so it all looks a bit bare and without the lovely view could almost be just any old back yard. That said it's still the beer garden of a fabulous pub, but it's a shame that it's not quite as picturesque as it used to be. Don't it always seem to go...

Firstly the bar staff were super nice and a credit to this pub. We had the unfortunate experience of dealing with who I assume is a proprietor (an older gent). We had sat at a table marked reserved for 7pm, (it was 5pm), at 5.40 the gent came up to us and abruptly said, 'can you move, this table is reserved', we reply 'oh we thought it was reserved at 7'. 'No it's reserved at 5.30, I know my bookings'. Whilst I appreciate the pub was busy and they may have wanted the table for food, there is better ways of politely asking us to move rather than being rude and obnoxious.

The full rack of BBQ ribs looked very impressive when it arrived at the table. However, upon starting to eat it, it became very obvious that it was mostly bone with very little meat. I've usually paid between £18-£20 for ribs at other places (with more meat on them), so I was expecting better for £25. Hubby had steak and ale pie which I tried a bit of - it tasted nice but he also felt it was quite small. We did originally want dessert but at £9 each, therefore it'd be another £18 for the two of us, decided it probably wouldn't be worth it after the mains, as we were concerned that would also be a small serving. The couple sat next to us had fish pie, which also looked small. The tables were also all small and wobbly, and it felt as though they'd tried to fit as many tables as they could into what was quite a small room. The food tasted nice, there just wasn't enough of it. Staff seemed friendly enough but wouldn't return as didn't feel it was worth the price.

Probably a nice place to sit and have a drink, because it is a very characterful pub, but for somewhere to eat it's fairly uninspiring, although that might be due to the staffs tendency to seat people in the bar area instead of the restaurant area for odd reasons, which is far more cramped and noisy and not as relaxing. The food itself is good - my steak and ale pie was delicious - but it is fairly overpriced for the amount that is served, to the point that my wife and I decided to forgo dessert in case we ended up paying £9 for a tiny slice of cake.

The Logan Rock Inn is a tempting treat to anyone that may have parked at Treen and gone investigating the rock itself, or (debatably) England’s best beach in Pedn Vounder. The pub has oodles of character and charm and are clearly very busy. Despite an extensive seating offering, every table inside the many rooms, nooks and crannies were all reserved (on a Friday night). There are additional seats out front, which don’t benefit from the evening light, and a garden to the rear with standard picnic benches for outside eating (that do get the evening light). There were four real ales on, all Casque Mark and the Proper Job was on top nick. I’m always nervous when I see a pub with an extensive menu because it normally screams frozen food. Also the prices were rather top heavy, even for this part of the county. The fish, for what it’s worth tasted excellent with a delightfully thin batter (made with Tribute). The chips were a little undercooked. It wasn’t worth the money charged (in my humble opinion you can find stronger eating options for the same money), however I am not galled because the whole package of the Logan Rock is greater than the sum of its individual parts. Service was friendly, but if you want to eat here you’re either going to be in the garden or need to book well in advance.

The Logan Rock is a nice pub but it clearly thinks it can rinse the holiday makers and 'London locals' as a captive audience with its high prices. The food menu is pretty standard pub grub but massively over priced. example is £19.50 for a burger van standard burger and small potion of chips, £18.50 for the smallest portion of burnt lasagne which was clearly what was left in the tray and not a full portion, the saddest food I have ever had to pay for. I would visit the pub again when camping up the road but no way will I ever be tempted to eat here again. The drinks are also expensive for a St Austell brewery pu, £5 for a glass of coke for someone who is driving is just taking the mickey, Please, do you wonder why pubs are going out of business when you charge so much. The food is not worth the Gastro pub prices they want to charge. Such a shame for a nice pub.

I have read mixed reviews and can say I am afraid i am in the not satisfied category The virtues of this beautiful little pud are around its ancient quaint old world look However, I was disappointed with the food The prices do not match the chefs experience of cooking good quality satisfying food at the price tags the "pub" charges I had the steak and ale pie, whilst the meat was nice the gravy was thin and the pastry bordered on burnt and extremely hard to eat The vegetables were OK but spartan I went back two days into our trip and had a cornish pasty, it was lovely if over priced I went back for scones and tea advertised at £10 for two which I thought reasonable However I didn't get my scones as the girl said i "didn't order scones" it wasn't so much not getting the scones, although I was disappointed at paying £12 for a pot of tea and two scoops of ice cream, it was the fact that instead of just saying she didn't hear my request and apologising she blatantly tried to argue that I never said "scones" Staff need training in diplomacy of customer relations

A pretty average pub that thinks it's better than it is. The food is normal pub grub but very overpriced. There are 4 ales on draught but I wasn't tempted to have a second pint after trying one. Wine is available either by the bottle or in a large or medium glass. A small glass is not available. As the wine is priced cheaper by volume, customers are thereby encouraged to buy more than they might have, which is odd when most people visiting would have driven here.

Children and dogs not allowed in main bar and was put in a cosy room with a fire which was nice but had no atmosphere and felt like a clever way of keeping the grockles away from the locals. This is a nice pub in a great part of Cornwall, ideally located near Porthcurno. We went for an early lunch and were greeted somewhat surly staff at the bar when we ordered and asked for a table. But, no matter, it is West Cornwall and we know that they aren’t too keen on outsiders down here in the middle of nowhere Next up was the food and drinks - horrendously overpriced! £10 for a pint of coke and lemonade! Appreciate there is a cost of living crisis impacting on all of us, but that would be extortionate even in London, where we are from. As for the food - we had the fish pie and mussels. The mussels were ok, the fish pie was tasteless, bland and arrived hotter than the sun (obviously fresh out the microwave). Again, horrendously overpriced. The only thing I can say was genuinely pleasing about the place was the ample parking facilities So I would recommend for the location- but if you’re interested in a good meal at reasonable prices then pick somewhere different. Total rip off.

The location is nothing short of utterly charming, and boasts a 16th century building now called the Logan Rock pub. Visitors and tourists from all walks of life abound, especially during the high season, where you have incomers from the neighbouring Minack Theatre and dazzling Porthcurno beach. Attraction and charm aside, the inner workings of the pub are quite the opposite. Having gone for a Sunday Roast with three of my friends, I have to say that I was not impressed by the service at all. Most notably, my friend's crab cakes were dry and smelly and had to send them back. This came as quite a shock for a pub of such esteemed reputation. The owner said quite abrasively ''We never had any complaints like this before,'' and we all felt a bit gaslighted. So we shrugged and tried not to make much more of a fuss, until the sirloin steak that came when the mains were serves, and although it was ordered medium-rare, it came out quite cooked. I was polite enough to address this with the lovely waitress, who obligingly sent it back to have it remade. The chef, however, refused to remake the steak and asked if we wanted to order something else. I, naturally, refused and had to excuse myself from the venue whilst my friends finished their meal. So, sadly, I shan't be returning to what is otherwise quite a charming pub. Pity that the service and attitude was so vituperative.

But waitress was lively and found us a table. Started with mussels which could have done with being warmer. Fish pie for mains, which took the roof of my mouth off, as it was so very very hot from microwave. Disappointing as we have given benefit of doubt more than a couple of times. We booked a table for my husband's birthday which was Mother's Day. Our reserved table was in the main bar which is our favourite room. There was a good choice of roast beef sirloin, roast pork or roast lamb, vegetarian options or another menu for those not wanting a roast. We ordered one beef and one lamb. Two beautiful plates of food arrived each with our choice of meat, a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, roast carrots and roast parsnips. Bowls of mashed swede, cauliflower cheese cabbage, mint sauce and the most delicious horseradish sauce and a jug of gravy also accompanied the meat. What a feast, we cleared our plates and enjoyed every mouthful. A lovely touch as we left, I was handed a gorgeous bunch of daffodils and wished happy Mother's Day. Thank you Logan Rock Inn for being our special place to dine in West Cornwall, we are so lucky to have you so close to our home!

We visited The Logan Rock for a Sunday roast today, enticed by the promise of a delectable meal at a reputable establishment. However, my experience left much to be desired, especially considering the hefty price tag of £21.95 per plate. Let us start with the positives: the quality of the meat was commendable. Tender and flavorful, it was evident that attention had been paid to sourcing good-quality cuts. Unfortunately, this was where the praise ends. The portion size was abysmally inadequate, particularly given the steep price. While the meat was satisfactory, the serving size left much to be desired, leaving me feeling unsatisfied and, frankly, a bit shortchanged. Moving on to the accompaniments, the vegetables were indeed hot and boasted a decent flavour. However, the portion provided was intended for two individuals, yet it was just enough for one person. This lack of generosity further contributed to the sense of disappointment. As for the roast potatoes, they failed to impress. Lacking the crispiness and flavour one would expect from a well-executed roast dinner, they fell short of expectations and added to the overall underwhelming experience. In summary, while The Logan Rock Inn may pride itself on offering a premium dining experience, my recent visit failed to live up to the hype. With a price tag of £21.95, one would rightfully expect a meal that is both satisfying in portion size and exemplary in taste. Regrettably, what was delivered fell far short of this standard.

Staff friendly and efficient. Sunday lunch was expensive and mediocre. Beef and lamb were full of flavour but the roast potatoes had been cooked some time before and although crispy could not be cut with the steak knife provided. The base was rubbery. Cauliflower cheese was reasonable and the cabbage was freshly cooked. The swede on the other hand was watery and lacked flavour. £21.95 each - very expensive for what was provided.

We walked in on a cold Tuesday in February to a cosy open fire and had the choice of the full menu which was fabulous. We will definitely be back.

Reminds of how pubs used to be before they were all cloned by certain breweries. Open fire, wooden beams, comfortable chairs and seat and excellent staff. Filled up a quick lunch of a burger and washed down with a local brew. My friend was a bit more adventurous and some local dish. Both happy with our meals and fair price. This time of year it wasn’t crowded as the weather was not great. But I imagine it would be busy in the summer. I’ll be back before high season when the sea fog hopefully won’t ruin the day.

Extremely arrogant owner. Avoid !! Looking at other unfavorable reviews he doesn’t seem to like any criticism . Always pretty patronising. One should always take the rough with the smooth.

We popped into the pub for some lunch after a coastal path walk, and wow, what a treat it was. It was a cold, windy walk and to come into such a warm and friendly atmosphere was lovely. The food was amazing and all in a lovely setting. The fire was roaring, and it was lovely and cosy. We cant wait for a trip back down west to visit the pub again.

Lucky to bag the last table last night in the bar. Fire blazing, good burgers and beer and a tricky pub quiz. Most of the other people were locals but we were made welcome. Great to come back to an old haunt and find it as good as ever.

Empty plates and happy smiles say it all. Well done Logan’s Rock on another first class Sunday Lunch. A warm fire welcomes us in winter and a beer garden bursting with flowers for the warmer months. Food always excellent and always a warm welcome (and fine Ales). Well done all….see you soon. 👍

From our perspective the hotel was really well positioned offering easy walking access to the city centre and railway station. The hotel offers generous parking and is easily accessed as you enter Truro. The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable, whilst the food was excellent with friendly staff and great bar ambiance.if we return to Truro we will immediately book again.

I hate writing negative reviews but our dinner tonight was disappointing. It felt like the pub had overbooked and just couldn’t cope. Despite booking the table 5 days earlier, they seemed surprised by our arrival and we were directed to a dirty table. We cleaned the table ourselves. After ordering two starters and 4 mains we were told it would be about a half hour wait. During this time, another couple walked out as their food was so poor (cold gammon, claggy rice with a curry). Our starters finally arrived after 50 minutes and were no more than passable. Mains arrived an hour and a quarter after ordering. Gammon and chips was barely warm, catch of the day was the most basic bit of hake with capers thrown over and Greek salad seemed to have about half a pot of oregano sprinkled over it. By this point, it was too late to eat anywhere else so we stayed and ate but left as soon as we could. It was such a shame… we’d heard positive things about the food but clearly tonight was not their night. If you’re in need of nice pub food, I’d recommend The Old Ship or the Golden Lion.
