Quite possibly the saddest looking burger I’ve been ever served, not to mention it cost £14.25. Other meals looked better in fairness, avoid the “burger menu” they actively promote.

Beautiful pub! Fabulous view. We had coffees but no food, but what we did see, the food looked good! Would return here. Dog friendly too!

Had a fantastic meal last year so returned this year. Once again we were not disappointed. Staff very friendly. Food was good. Lovely and clean. Could do with a bit bigger menu choice in my personal opinion however I can't fault my choice. We like the fact dogs are Welcome and left out are bowls and water for them. And with a little treat too. We will be back on our next visit.

Amazing view, super competitive price, location tidy and cleaned. It's 5 minute walking from a long stay car parking and from town centre.

Got to the pub and had to seek out a member of staff to find our table. The table was still yet to be cleaned and was missing a chair. Ordered some fairly expensive drinks (£11.70 for a large house wine, which seems fairly expensive even for newquay). After looking through the menu, went to the bar to order, and was told a good portion of the main menu was out of stock (mixed grill, lasagna, chicken salad, chicken and ribs, cajun chicken). The server didn't seem to care whatsoever. It would have been nice if we'd have been told about the lack of choice on arriving. Other than that, fairly nice but pricey food. Good location overlooking the harbour.

Large shop inside and outside, relaxed atmosphere and fast service. For drinks, you order online from the table (except for certain hours) and for food, from the bar, which at peak times has a queue but they serve quickly. It has a bowl , water and treats for dogs. It has a very nice view of Towan beach. We have used the toilets (which in peak hours need a little more attention) even if we didn't sit down to eat.

Great place for kids and lovely sea views. Although the bar was busy with food orders we didn't have to wait long and the food was good.

The food was excellent and the service from every member of staff was first class, we will definitely be returning on our next visit to Cornwall

If it's a nice day you couldn't ask for a better view while you eat. Pretty standard pub fare but it didn't promise anything more than that and it delivered what was expected for a fair price.

Great views and good food. The terrace was quite busy, but it was very quiet inside.

We only had a drink so can't comment on food other than seeing others eating it looked nice. The pub is set in a great location overlooking the harbour and branches in Newquay great for a drink. Only rated service 3starts as we ordered the drink via the app and after 20mins wait it never arrived so went to the bar to be told just ordering drinks via the app doesn't always work as the orders get lost. The staff we're apologetic and I felt we should have just gone to bar instead of being lazy anyway 🙊

Enjoyed our visit down memory lane. A lot has changed in 30 years, but still the same great service and views.

Today I went into this place to ask for a missing refund that I wasn’t provided on Sunday, and me and My partner were both verbally abused by the Assistant manager named (Paul) he repeatedly and loudly insulted us and offended us in front of all the other customers just because we were asking for something that is our right as non-satisfied customers. On sunday I went in there and ordered a cocktail that after 25 minutes was never delivered, so I approached the tills and asked for a refund because I couldn’t wait any longer, the same guy did not provided me with the refund but wither with a receipt that showed the details of the transaction just some random printed paper saying that it’d take 24 hours for the refund to be processed… then today Tuesday 13 of august, I walked over 2 miles to ask what was going on and the same guy (Paul - Assistant manager) came back to me and was extremely rude and disrespectful, he insulted me and my partner, shouted at as and somehow threatened us, we are considering taking legal actions against this individual, and against the establishment probably with the financial ombudsman for allowing someone like that disrespect and threaten customers in such a negative way and also for denying me the right to get something that corresponds me (my Money) … So unless you want to be abused and disrespected in the most horrendous way AVOID at all costs visiting this place.

Me to a barman: "See you later." The barman (sarcastically): "Can't wait." The rest of the staff: "Ha-ha-ha" No, you won't see me later. Goodbye.

The pub was nicely decorated with a good Outside space. The toilets however were disgusting and tye general mess on the floor and tables put me off eating there

We had dinner here early on a Friday night in August during Boardmasters. We were pleased to find all the youngsters at Boardmasters had left town and were at the festival site. This meant that the pub was quite quiet with plenty of seating available. We ate inside since the seagulls outside are extremely aggressive. The quality of the food was good for a pub. Service was exceptional, with plenty of staff. Service at the bar was quick and friendly. The view from their beer garden is probably one of the best in the UK. We could see the Boardmasters festival site right across the bay. Overall, we have no hesitation in recommending this pub and we will return.

It's was busy, but there was plenty of room and the food came out quickly. Good quality food and very tasty. I will visit again this week.

Went in today for lunch. The portion size for the price wasn't great. Spent over £60 on 3 kids meals, 1 wrap and a few sides plus drinks. Staff were in a rush to clear the table when obviously not finished eating. The place needs to either review their pricing or up the portion size. P.s coleslaw should at least be homemade coleslaw if your charging £3

Lovely location. Nachos was very nice. Good options for siders. Friendly staff but service was delayed. App didn't work well to place an order for food.

Awful place. Staff are no help whatsoever. Had to get rummage through a pile of menus to find the children’s menu myself. Then had to get the high chair myself. Never been somewhere so unhelpful. Place is also disgustingly dirty with food all over the floor. Plus the food was terrible. Worst place I’ve been to in Newquay.

We didn’t eat here but enjoyed nice cold drinks with beautiful views. The staff were always very nice and polite.

Food and service were OK/ good but the seating area smelt of cat pee and the customer toilets smelt like a sewer, really bad. General sanitation needs to be greatly improved

Caesar salad is without chicken! So basicly salad, croutons and some low quality cheese. Children's pasta is without flavour. Tourist trap.

Quality, great food and service on a very busy evening

I ordered Hunters Chicken and when it came out the chips were burnt, chicken and bacon was so dry they also seemed over done, I have arthritis in my hands so I asked for a simple salt pot, they couldn't help me and I couldn't twist the salt they had. Totally not recommended. Wetherspoons are better food.

Love,Love,Love,sadly discovered this at the end of our holiday,great service, great atmosphere,great food,had steak both nights we visited and was cooked perfectly.Will definitely visit again when we return to the area. Exceptionaly dog friendly throughout which made our visit stress free.

This pub is honestly gorgeous to look at and a very clean place, the staff were so quick to help us and we got our food within 15 minutes of ordering it. The food was amazing and we finished it all. The toilets are clean which is a bonus. We sat inside and it was a good temperature and not too busy but the view from out the window to the sea was gorgeous - there’s loads of room to sit both in and out.

Booked for Sunday dinner time. We had a very friendly welcome and were shown to our seats which had a great view out to sea. After the initial disappointment of there being no roast on the menu. We ordered food at the bar and the food came out promptly. The food was really nice and good size. The drinks menu is extensive. There is a terrace garden outside overlooking the sea and the views are stunning and well worst the visit just for the views alone. I would recommend this place to everyone.

Superb location overlooking the harbour... Sometimes you might catch a glimpse of the local seals. Lovely food and vegan options. They do an organic red wine that is amazing, pricey, but one of the best I've tasted. There's a small, indoor soft-play area that will keep the kids entertained for hours... And it's free!

Came here a year ago2023 that was good food well worth prices that yr this year though weren't nice food chips dry fish dry luckily I had curry sauce dry mash no gravy no onion rings no nuts certainly not worth the prices in 2024

Me and my partner came here on the 10th July for some drinks and food .food and Drink prices are decent. however… when ordering my boyfriend made it clear to the barman that I had a shellfish allergy and questioned the cooking method and all was cleared as safe to eat . I later in the night had an allergic reaction to the food . (Lucky I do not react in a deadly manor and only throw the contents up). I think the allergens need to be revisited and understood by all staff , for the safety of others with allergies ( especially those who react a lot worse than me) . The food was okay , nothing special but good for the price. Unfortunately was just ruined by the allergy. Lovely atmosphere and great location

Always seems to be busy, would recommend booking a table on weekends. Good selection of food options. Food quality is good with decent portions. Kids and dog friendly. Staff (lots of them) are helpful and polite.

Decided on dinner at the fort for a 90th birthday celebration an I wasn’t disappointed it has the most amazing views and the food was delicious and very reasonably priced, The staffwere extremely helpful an even tho it was very busy with people watching the euros we were still able to have a lovely family meal I’d definitely dine here again

The service and attention we had at May bank holiday was absolutely amazing the manager Paul was an absolute star when our best friend big john had a fall on the steps Pauls skills was excellent and went above and beyond the call of duty. We felt cared for and valued as customers. On our return visit yet again paul and his team exceeded our expectations fantastic carvery,service and atmosphere and look forward to seeing you all next year. Well done to Paul and the team. Have had lunch here twice this week and both times the food has been really good!! Not sure if having the starters & mains arriving at the same time is a new thing or just a Cornish thing but I’m more traditional and prefer them separately!

Was looking for a lunch munch and found The Fort. What a great product venue. Excellent staff and wonderful food with the bonus of beautiful views from the outdoor terrace. Will be back

Why so many positive opinions, I guess it's only because of the beer, but definitely not for the food, even the seagulls didn't want to eat it "a tragedy" the service was terrible

The food is awful, and the bar staff is terrible. The fish has more batter than actual fish, with a dry crust, the chips are burnt and uneatable. Apparently, Brits adore disgusting food because you can't communicate with the staff in normal English, you need to speak BO'OH'O'WA'ER, so any foreigner will have trouble ordering anything.

Dogs are allowed. There is plenty of seating inside and out. You can watch people surfing in the sea. There are accessible toilets. We ordered our meals here and they were hot and tasty. We ordered fish and chips, crispy chicken, ham, egg and chips and chicken and ribs combo. All were very nice and good portion size.

Went here today for Father’s Day, haven’t been here for several years. Food was lovely. The staff were so helpful and friendly, definitely won’t be leaving it so long next time. And a plus side it’s also dog friendly.

Professional stuff, lovely food.

12yrs, and never had a problem staff have always been friendly and polite until this year. On Thursday, my partner and I went for some dinner, the staff just seem like they don’t want to be there. It took half an hour for our empty plates to be cleared from our table and service wasn’t with a smile. Tonight, the final night of our holiday, went to watch the Euros Ger v Sco, got to the Fort at 19.30pm, and took a seat on the sofas with my partner, our pooch was with us also. At 9pm, when my partner decided to go to the restroom, a rude waiter came over and asked me where I’d moved the reserve sign. Baffled, I said, we’d been here the past hour and half and there was no reserve sign when we walked in. It was insisted that we moved, although I cannot see why it’s my problem the reserve sign had forgotten to be put on the table. We left 10mins after being moved to a table with some lovely comfy wooden chairs, and a table of 16 people dining next to us, as we couldn’t even watch the match as could not hear any of it anymore. Was a truly lovely end to our holiday. As I say, the past 12yrs I’ve been coming here every year and it’s always been a positive experience. So maybe it was a fluke and the staff just had a bad week. I’ll try again next year hopefully with better luck.

Recieved undercooked chicken. BUT new meal within 5 minutes. Cost of dish removed from menu, free round of drinks and an unreserved apology. Would come again due to the excellent customer service. Gluten free fish and chips available. Lovely view over the bay.

What makes the Fort special is the garden area. It's huge, and has great views across most of the Newquay beaches. On a good day it's a lovely place to sit and relax. Although we didn't eat, the food looked like good pub grub, with a carvery. Something for all the family. The pub is large, and busy on a good day. What really lets it down is the service. The staff are busy, efficient and friendly, but the system of ordering at the bar is flawed - you could be waiting ages just to get a drink, as 4 tills all take orders for drinks and meals, and if you're behind a big or complex order, then be prepared to watch others who arrived a lot later than you get served well before you! Management need to review the system. If you're not in a rush, it's a pleasant enough place.

This has to be one of the best views overlooking the bay in Newquay.

Parking is a nightmare but worth it for the amazing view of newquay beach

What a view! The terrace over looks the harbour and great western beach and is stunning on a sunny day. Ice cold beer served quickly on a very busy day.

£15 for frozen scampi and cold mushy peas, you would of thought next to the harbour would be fresh scampi. Extremely disappointing.

Dog friendly staff very friendly service great lovely food reasonable price great views of harbour if you go alfresco.

Great pints, nice open space inside - kids play area, huge outdoor space overlooking the beach Drinks slightly on the pricier side but the view is worth it. Didn’t eat so can’t comment on food.

Whilst the staff were friendly, the food was poor, and both the starter (Soup) and the main were served together. The young lady who served me was apologetic and very polite but I went there as it was a St Austell facility and as I usually use the Old Custom House which is a St Austell, I anticipated the same quality 🙄🫣😫
