A big thank you to all the staff for looking after my family on 15th November. You did us proud. It was a sad occasion but you made it the best you could. I will certainly recommend you when and if I can. Thank you all once again.

We have been going here for about 10 years when we holiday in Cornwall every September and it has always been great, friendly service with great atmosphere, friendly locals and great food. Boy, were we disappointed on this visit. Rude jobsworth staff, awful food with bottles of Morrisons Saver ketchup on the table, no atmosphere and very few locals it seemed. A young lady left us standing at the bar and said she wasn’t going to serve us as her shift had finished. We were a party of four and were told we could not have a table we wanted as it seated six. Someone then seated a couple in the very same table. We cancelled our usual carvery reservation for the Sunday after our experience and reading the reviews about the carvery which had previously been lovely. Apparently the same owners but under new management. In my opinion there won’t be a pub there in twelve months if that is now how it is being run. Such a shame, get the old management back.

Food was 45 min to get out then they forgot one which turned up when others had finished. Not sure how the chicken burger was both burnt and raw. Staff were disinterested in anything other than themselves. Sat 8 of us on a tiny table with no space which would be ok if we were walk-in but booked the table weeks ago. Really disappointed and will not be returning

Very, very busy at weekends. Especially Sundays for the carvery. BOOK IN ADVANCE. Pet friendly, fairly large outdoor area. Food is basic but good. However we went back a week later on a Monday and waited almost 50 min for a steak and ham, egg and chips and they did not appear too busy. I suppose they might say that a big group had ordered before us. But should that make that much difference?

We've here several times and always had good experience, but went for my wife's birthday and things have changed since our last visit food did not look good and saw a lot being left or being returned, several customers told us that carvery was cold, so we thought we would order from the menu, where you used to get table service, now nothing you are not even told your table is ready, staff appear uninterested and not to care, in the end we did not order food and got a return taxi, total cost for the evening £40 - taxi, £11.60 -drinks whilst waiting for table and service, we will mot return here unless there is a dramatic improvement in both service and quality

We visited the Quintrell Inn for the second time last week - this time for an 80th birthday. We took a surprise cake with us and they were more than happy to bring this out. The food was nice. Typical pub menu - Lasagne, Mac n cheese, ham egg and cheese etc. However, the service really let them down!! There was one poor lad (I'd say around 14) running around doing all the serving from the kitchen and clearing tables, and it was quite busy, not full but busy. Whereas there were 3 stood behind the bar just chatting to their mates and having a laugh between themselves. Some of our party went up for dessert but our table hadn't been cleared! I had to ask for our table to be cleared and also ask for the cake to be brought out. By this time our birthday guest had already had cake for dessert so didnt want her birthday cake! No napkins or knife was brought. One of the three who actually cleared a table had clean cutlery in her pocket to replenish the pots. Another turned away guests without even looking at the reseveration book because she was too busy talking to her mates. It really let the evening down and I wouldn't return for this reason.

What a let down! This place looks good and the food certainly smelt good but almost every aspect lacked quality. Our group ordered a carvery and ploughmans. The amount of bad reviews for this place really surprised me - we visited twice during our family vacation in Newquay and enjoyed our experience both times! The food was good and generously sized, the service was ok and I feel like you got your money's worth! The atmosphere is cozy, especially if you sit in a room further in away from the bar. It's a nice experience of a British pub/restaurant. Both the vegetarian lasagna I ordered and the BBQ Ribs were very well cooked, the meat fell right off the bones - as it should be! The lemon cheesecake was amazing as well, however the desserts change from day to day (they are displayed by the bar, not in the menu). I wouldn't say that the food is over the top, but it's absolutely good enough and worth a visit if you'd like a nice typical british dinner experience. I do believe that the service could be better, however I had no bad experience!

Me and my partner waited 55 minutes for our food. They claimed it was because they’d had two big tables come in and the kitchen were panicking that they had 70 people to cook for? I feel if a kitchen can’t handle 70 people, they’re not good enough chefs. We wouldn’t have minded the wait if the food that came out was worth waiting for but we had the chilli and the lasagna and they were both like microwaveable meals. The lasagna was literally brown and curling on the outside were it had gone in the microwave and the chilli was watery. Have not been here in years but won’t be returning any time soon.

I really wished I took some photos of what the Sunday carvery looked like so people could see how unbelievably bad it was. Burnt would be an understatement, Staff very rude and unprofessional, decided to order off the main menu instead but after seeing so many people leaving theirs, cancelled our order and left, walking back to the car it felt our duty being cornish to advise people going in not to waste their time and money on such a poor standard of staff and food.

Absolutely dire! After a lovely meal here in February we went for a Sunday Carvery with family. On arrival the staff were ignorant. we bought drinks and then I looked at the Carvery. Burnt potatoes that looked like coal! We sat down and ordered from the main menu only to go up and cancel the order when we seen people walking out and leaving their food and drink. We sat outside and booked a table elsewhere. Plates were left outside with uneaten food, even the seagulls didn't chance it!! The carrots were basically whole, one woman had one in her hand eating it. We could only laugh about it outside and was overheard by 2 customers who we advised to look before ordering, They soon walked out and we recommended booking a place in Newquay where we were going onto. We then seen them after having an enjoyable Carvery that was bang on! Staff at quintrell need to work on their manners and attitude towards hospitality. Sack your chef for a start as he should never have put the Carvery out for paying customers. We called it Quintrell crematorium!!! Never to return or recommend again.

Finally got told to go to table 10 & 11 which the boy told us should be round the corner. Got to the table to find another party still eating their desserts. Tables outside and inside were empty but cluttered with dirty glasses and plates etc and staff were walking past them. Ladies toilets were broken and closed so a queue to use the disabled. After 15 mins of standing in what I can only describe as a circus we left and went elsewhere.

Nearly all the staff are rude arrogant kids & the management are dressed like slobs ! Honestly, stay away. Definitely not a village pub serving home cooked food. I feel traumatized by the experience, I actually apologize to some holiday makers, they were so shocked on how they were treated by the staff, I apologized on behalf of Cornwall locals, we don't treat people in this way but it seams they do at the quintrell inn ! !

I haven't been to a restaurant where the Chef visits the cash and carry when there are reservations and customers have to wait for him to return. May be as a result service was rushed as my seafood platter was a disaster. Fish over cooked, mussels that resembled peanuts, not worth what I paid. Shame as it's a fab location.

Friendly, great setting and decent pub food. We didn’t stray from pub classics and what we had was as good as you would expect. However the whole experience was marred by the smell of cooking fat that seemed to resonate through the place, to the extent I probably wouldn’t go back. Perhaps it was where we were sitting but we were not far from the bar in the central part.

Went to sample the ribs. These were well cooked but could have had some more sauce. At £14 with coleslaw but no side OK. BUT£13 for a glass of wine means we will not be going again. (£6 for beer). You also have to pay for the car park and claim back. Left in the dark absolutely no lighting of the car park which is full of potholes and puddles. Don't know how this can survive the winter financially without emets to rip off
