Great atmosphere staff were lovely but things off carvery seemed pre cooked and not home made

No idea who the chef is but he understands food like a top level Michelin star chef. The meats are tender and seasoned to perfection. The pies are out of this world. Yes it's busy but there's a reason why. It's good classic pub food done with skill and flair. The girls at the bar are kind and friendly and made us feel welcome. This is a great place.

Very,very busy at weekends. Especially Sundays for the carvery. BOOK IN ADVANCE. Pet friendly, fairly large outdoor area. Food is basic but good.

This is the worst pub I have ever been to in my life. The food and atmosphere was shocking 😮 From Entering this Depressing and dirty place,the very strange welcome to the hostile environment and to Top it off the food was disgusting This place should be on the next series of “Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmare’s “ I can’t imagine what state the kitchen was in as the place was filthy from top to bottom.

Place was proper busy I went in with the family for lunch and was very impressed food was good and came in a decent time for how busy it was and nice to have clean Ice from there ice machine staff where very helpfull easy parking and for cornwall good value

you get what you get for a carvary really, beef was extremely tough and potatoes was not very nice atall, sweede was lovely, cabbage under done but the turkey was perfect so hit and miss really I think it depends when you go. dessert was lovely.

We stopped there for dinner by accident as it was the first pub on our way. I have to say we were surprised with the quality and the amount of food served. Highly recommend.

Booked a table at 7:30, arrived at 7:20, told to come back at 7:30, to then be told there was no table available and to seat in the covered area full of rubbish and ripped settees. It was disgusting, will definitely not go back here again. Staff was no help whats so ever

For years we have mentioned visiting but hesitant as some bad reviews. To be fair with the 1000s of customers sometimes things go wrong. Anyways we went for it today. Soooo glad we did. The carvery was so tasty and fresh. Big portions of meat which hubs loved. Proper cauliflower cheese and the carrots were roasted and tasty. The staff were super busy but friendly. The place was clean, how I do not know. Defo glad we went.

We love this place and keep coming back every time we come away it's where we head to first , we can't fault the food , atmosphere or staff especially kelsey, Emily always smiling and friendly especially towards my children They can't do enough for us and make the best banana mikeshakes for my boy even when we hadn't booked and took a gamble they fitted us in we was so grateful thanks girls ❤️ we love that it's dog friendly too there is a lovely play area for the kids too play and we even got to watch a band there Sunday dinner is banging too over all its a fab place to go with the family we will miss you guys and the food we can't wait too come back see you soon love The Corry family ❤️

Popped in here for a late-ish lunch. Very welcoming and friendly staff, good pub menu, quick delivery of our meals - which were decent quality and really generous portions. The beer was cold. And Scampi Fries, blimey - like it’s the olden days! Al for a fair price, too.The bar staff member with the wicked tattoos was cracking, and they gave my sons a very generous portion of ice cream. Very happy.

Looked online at menu great lamb shank steak Got there it was a menu like your bog standard cafe. Burgers hunters chicken Lasagne Fish over cooked. Food dry not a lot on plate. I asked about online menu We don't use it no more If I wasn't on holiday and knew other places I woukd of walked out

Extremely friendly and welcoming place to go if you're on holiday. Very popular so make sure you book or you could be disappointed. Nice range of food to choose from including GF,V,VG food. Not much time to wait before the waitress brought out our food, and the puddings are to die for! Definitely a must if you're in the area!!

Booked for 3pm table wasn't ready after 20 minutes, staff were rude, toilets disgusting and whole place was dirty and overcrowded, and limited drinks on offer, left without anyone offering us a table

Very accommodating, friendly and welcoming staff. Menu could do with a refresh along with the lines in the beer taps but otherwise very reasonable place.

Fantastic all you can eat Biker Breakfast on the first Saturday of every month, 9.30am . Would definitely recommend 👌. £10.

Visited while on holiday for a Sunday carvery, which tasted great! Staff was friendly, great pudding selection and outdoor seating and play area for kids.

Me and my partner waited 55 minutes for our food. They claimed it was because they’d had two big tables come in and the kitchen were panicking that they had 70 people to cook for? I feel if a kitchen can’t handle 70 people, they’re not good enough chefs. We wouldn’t have minded the wait if the food that came out was worth waiting for but we had the chilli and the lasagna and they were both like microwaveable meals. The lasagna was literally brown and curling on the outside were it had gone in the microwave and the chilli was watery. Have not been here in years but won’t be returning any time soon.

If you like pub grub I would recommend this place! It is cheap and cheerful but the food is still lovely. My partner had steak and I had fish and chips and both were cooked perfectly! Definitely recommend!

Wow, reading the reviews , I wondered if we had visited the same pub? After a 1st visit, we booked to return for a cavery, evening of irish music and football! We had the best time (sadly, the result was not favourable)

I really wished I took some photos of what the Sunday carvery looked like so people could see how unbelievably bad it was. Burnt would be an understatement, Staff very rude and unprofessional, decided to order off the main menu instead but after seeing so many people leaving theirs, cancelled our order and left, walking back to the car it felt our duty being cornish to advise people going in not to waste their time and money on such a poor standard of staff and food.

Absolutely dire! After a lovely meal here in February we went for a Sunday Carvery with family. On arrival the staff were ignorant. we bought drinks and then I looked at the Carvery. Burnt potatoes that looked like coal! We sat down and ordered from the main menu only to go up and cancel the order when we seen people walking out and leaving their food and drink. We sat outside and booked a table elsewhere. Plates were left outside with uneaten food, even the seagulls didn't chance it!! The carrots were basically whole, one woman had one in her hand eating it. We could only laugh about it outside and was overheard by 2 customers who we advised to look before ordering, They soon walked out and we recommended booking a place in Newquay where we were going onto. We then seen them after having an enjoyable Carvery that was bang on! Staff at quintrell need to work on their manners and attitude towards hospitality. Sack your chef for a start as he should never have put the Carvery out for paying customers. We called it Quintrell crematorium!!! Never to return or recommend again.

Best pub in Britain! We’ve travelled far and wide in our campervan but this pub is the best we’ve come across. The food and service are exceptional!

Went in a Sunday afternoon for the carvery and there was only one meat available despite being open for another few hours, apart from this would have scored five stars. Food was good, service was good and atmosphere was too. Lovely place.

Carvery cold, didn’t taste nice at all, would go as far as to say the worst roast dinner I’ve ever had! I don’t know how they managed to get it so wrong, it looks like a knock off toby carvery but it’s a lot worse than that! Don’t do it..

Booked a table for 8 people for a Sunday carvery. Stood waiting to be seated with staff walking past and ignoring us. Finally got told to go to table 10 & 11 which the boy told us should be round the corner. Got to the table to find another party still eating their desserts. Tables outside and inside were empty but cluttered with dirty glasses and plates etc and staff were walking past them. Ladies toilets were broken and closed so a queue to use the disabled. After 15 mins of standing in what I can only describe as a circus we left and went elsewhere.

The whole experience was awful. Aggressive bar staff had such a terrible effect on the atmosphere. The food was sub standard. This was once an ok pub you could get a decent beer & a bit of pub grub . Now avoid it , the new owners are slowly but surely running it into the ground. Such a shame as villagers really want to support local businesses.

To be honest I don't know where to begin ! The whole experience was just awful. The bar staff haven't a clue how to interact with customers. The food was worse than sub standard. One bar person kept running around to prop open the door even all though the customers were freezing, she was so aggressive people got up and left. The whole set up in this pub is a joke ! Nearly all the staff are rude arrogant kids & the management are dressed like slobs ! Honestly, stay away. Definitely not a village pub serving home cooked food. I feel traumatized by the experience, I actually apologize to some holiday makers, they were so shocked on how they were treated by the staff, I apologized on behalf of Cornwall locals, we don't treat people in this way but it seams they do at the quintrell inn ! !

I asked what the vegan option were and the bar maid said “salad” and laughed🙄 then they said the halloumi burger was a vegan option so poor education on food and a bit embarrassing as it’s a restaurant, then I had the vegan chilli that was bought in, not cooked in the restaurant, ate 4 mouthfuls and then couldn’t eat any more, pretty rubbish experience and won’t be coming back

Dog Friendly Sunday Carvery. The pub staff were so friendly and welcoming. The Carvery deck was not a massive conveyer belt affair that some of the multi nationals offer, each vegetable had its own distinct taste, and the meat was a chunk or two, unlike the slither offered elsewhere. If you are on hols at White Acre, then it's a short 8 mins drive. Best book with the pub, the number is on their website. Tasty food at a very reasonable cost. Thank you

Brought 11 old folks here for food while we are out on a mystery trip, we weren't disappointed the service, food quality and price were excellent.

Called in a week or so ago. Nice choice of beers and great food. They had a band on outside and I think they were called One for the Road. Brilliant they were.

Apart from the fact they got our coffee order wrong then got our food order wrong,the lady serving us seemed reluctant to serve us from the start Ordered lasagna which was off small appetite menu was mediocre The best thing I can say is the dessert was nice

Such a lovely pub .. was so welcomed from the moment we walked through the door. A lovely dog friendly pub that welcomed our Bulldog Betty from the moment she stepped in and offered to get her some water straight away. The food was delicious! Homemade Chilli with a spud and Hunters Chicken … gorgeous! Really reasonable price! Next time we are on our hols .. we will be coming back! ❤️

Lovely outside space when open but inside is dire! Sat next to a dirty radiator crammed in and couldn't even get the chair out as the tables were so close together. Easy food ordering however the whole place needs a good clean and more warmth. Kids meals good value 😊

We've always frequented the Quintrell Inn on our annual holidays to Newquay. It went from a gorgeous little spot several years ago that catered fabulously to children, with a soft play area and occasional children's entertainment, to a still lovely pub without any of that, offering a daily carvery and with friendly service throughout, to your average boring old man's pub offering nothing. This year, I couldn't have been more disappointed. The carvery is now only on a Sunday, the service was very, very terse, the pub was extremely quiet with a poor atmosphere with a few men watching sport. It now just emulates your average pub in any city in the world, it has completely lost its sparkle. We used to visit this place 3-4 times over any holiday because it was so lovely but on this occasion, we stayed for our 1 drink, which we drank quickly, and left. It's the end of an era. I'm surprised that the attitude is what it is as I can only imagine the money they're losing as they are now, and being out of the way from the usual tourist spots anyway, it really needed to stand out to gain that custom. Perhaps that's the point, perhaps they're not interested in tourists any longer. Very sad to see what it is now, after such fond memories over the years.

Went here yesterday for our last meal of our holiday, didn’t have a table booked and they put us on a table that was reserved as long as we was finished by 6pm, Unfortunately there was another guest that didn’t appreciate our son making sounds due to his autism, After overhearing her moan to her friends we spoke to her to explain this is how he is. She wasn’t having any of this, Spoke to the barmaids to see if we can cancel our meal due to the other guest complaining about the noise in a family pub we was met by the manager who moved us to a different table, The staff then went above and beyond to make the experience amazing. This pub is well worth a visit

We're on the first night of our holiday and wanted to go to somewhere that wasn't your usual chain pub...we all really wish we'd hadn't have bothered. Rang up to book a table for 6pm. We ordered food at 6 10 and we're still waiting for food at 7 30. We asked a waitress to check if the order had been missed, she said she'd check but never returned. Went to the bar and found the said waitress at 7 40 and she went into the kitchen for 5 minutes before returning with one of our meals, walked past us and put the plate on our table without saying a word. Waited another 5 minutes for the next dishes - every dish had something missing or not amended as requested at the point of ordering. One meal didn't arrive at all. I sat and ate the peas my wife didn't want as she'd asked for salad in their place. They were good peas to be fair, my mate even gave me some garnish from his chilli to make them feel a la carte! No apologies just rude staff and the feel of a pub where no one really cares what happens to it. Avoid and go somewhere else.

Food was really nice and a bonus was they serve your food then leave you alone. Tried to go back again but it was fully booked.

We visited last weekend in our motorhome and parked on the carpark. Landlord was great, just asked us to have a drink or 2, we did. We ate there both nights, the food was fantastic and very decent portions, beer was good and all reasobly priced. Would highly recommend, with a motorhome or just a visit

Wouldn't go again , only 1 selection of meat for the carvery , meat chewy, potatoes hard, defo not homemade yorkies the staff were rude it use to be a nice place but with the new owners , its gone down hill.wasted my money here should of gone to a better place.,

On holiday in Cornwall visited this place three times. Food and service was very good. Lunchtime menu is exceptional value for money. Will be visiting again.

We went for what we hoped would be a lovely family lunch on new years eve What we got was A cold uninviting dated pub The carvery was barely edible three slices of very over cooked hard rubbery beef or dry turkey along with potatoes ( it would be a stretch to call roasted ) so hard I could play rounders on the beach with them and veg that had the texture of baby food and any flavour was boiled out of them Non of our party of 7 finished it An awful dining experience would not recommend

Friendly and attentive staff. Food is well prepared and tasty and good value. The menu isn’t enormous but has a good range of steaks, vegetarian and pub grub. Puddings were ok - ice cream probably the nicest option.
