County Arms in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

Check-in was smooth. Staff on reception explained things very well. The room was a good size, well equipped, and had a lovely view over the fields. Pillows were good quality, but unfortunately the bed was far too soft for our liking but that's just our opinion. Dinner in the restaurant was typical pub food but was very nice, served by friendly staff and reasonably priced. We did have an issue at breakfast but this was dealt with professionally by two female members of staff, one from the restaurant and one from reception. The County Arms is a perfect base for that part of Cornwall.

I visit Truro regularly to visit a Client . Always get a warm welcome . The staff are professional and friendly and the food is never a let down . The last visit was probably the best so far , and I hate to do it (as all the staff are good )but I have to say Chelsea was a superstar . Looking forward to my next visit and enjoying the views from the beer garden thanks everyone !!

I used this hotel for a single night stopover for work. There is a large carpark, and EV charging should you need it. My room was spotlessly clean and well equipped with the usual touches to make an overnight trip more tolerable. The coffee pod machine is a nice touch, and the coffee was surprisingly good. The evening meal was fine, similar to many pub chains, and the bar had a good selection of local ales. Breakfast was fantastic, with a wide range of fresh made food. The staff are friendly and efficient. I would stay again for work, and recommend to colleagues.

Good all round place for lunch. There was a party with lots of children in one area so we asked for a quiet area as some of us are hard of hearing which was given. Staff were friendly, food good, prices reasonable. We were able to stay as long as we wanted for a relaxed chat. Would have been a lovely view rom the panoramic windows at the back if it hadn't been misty & raining!

Enjoyed a 1 night stay here with my partner, our room was clean and spacious, all the staff we saw was friendly and helpful! Had a lovely meal in the restaurant, again staff was fast to serve us and very attentive of when we needed help or more ordering, would come back here again!

Went with my wife and Mum, thought it was very nice, not been there for several years. Certainly changed a lot since last time I went there, but food was good. Will be returning for the carvery which looked very nice.

Had the pleasure of staying here for 3 weeks while working down Truro. The room was spotless and the bed was like sleeping on a cloud!!! The food is exceptional and I can highly recommend the Hunters Chicken followed by an Eton Mess!!!!! The bar staff are very good and attentive. Great stay and will hopefully be coming back soon.

I often bring my mum here for the Sunday carvery and today we came back for a Mother’s Day lunch. Lovely touch with a gift on all tables of a small bottle of Cornish Gin and tonic for mothers today. The carvery as always is good value for money with a great choice of vegetables. I had the vegan option which today which was a delicious apricot and nut roast served with its own little dish of gravy. The service is always great at the door, the table and at the serving counter too. Today as is often the case we were served by Danny who is always cheerful, helpful and efficient. We will be back again very soon I’m sure.

Nice hotel but noisy if allocated rooms are at the front. Constant sound of sirens, both police and ambulance throughout the night. However it is close to the city centre, about a five minute drive. Helpful staff and a small but good menu. All food was cooked as requested.

I would visit Truro many years ago when I was involved in the military so it's my first time staying here to attend an event at the cathedral and what a great place County Arms is. Lovely, clean and a comfortable room with reception, bar and restaurant staff second to none. The dinner meals were always nicely prepared and served by nice and easy to talk with staff. Highly recommended and will definitely be my place to stay if I visit the area again.

We had a lovely meal here, with the most fabulous service from Keira - thank you!! She’s a credit to your establishment. The lasagne was great but the fish and chips could do with being a bit better (the fish was overcooked and not of a great quality), especially for the prices you’re paying for main meals!

We booked for Sunday carvery and it was great. There was a slightly different variety of vegetables on offer compared to other places and the meat was lovely. The staff were all friendly, the atmosphere was chirpy, the decor is cosy and twinkly! I was really surprised at the amount of parking there was, it was a bonus. We would definitely like to go back again

I had my short holiday stay with County Arms. I can highly recommend them, the room was large, clean and beautiful. The staff is very responsive and understanding. Perfect location for those who needs a bus service.

Celebrating my birthday with my girlfriend and a friend a very enjoyable evening was had by all great tasting food and a good plateful I would recommend.

This is a smashing pub hotel with a car park, good quality restaurant, large comfortable rooms and lovely staff. It’s 15 or 20 minutes walk to the centre of town and it’s well worth staying here to avoid having to drive into the centre. We had dinner in the evening and breakfast the following morning and both were really good. There’s plenty of choice and the service is good.

County arms in Truro is the best place for a meal with family and friends, Dan and Richard are very welcoming ,they make you feel very welcome and relaxed, great atmosphere and nothing is to much trouble for them,they make sure that everything is to a high standard and the food is excellent,all the staff are very friendly and service is with a smile,IAM a regular customer to county arms and I wouldn't go anywhere else, number one pub/restaurant, well done to Dan and Richard,you both are doing a fantastic job,came to had a meal again tonight with my son ,and lovely service again,top notch, after a chat with Dan and Richard,I left very happy and felt like part of the family,well done guys,see you again Sunday, highly recommended.

Can’t fault this place at all, it’s perfect for good food, great service and a comfortable night stay. We use this place for our nights out in Truro when we don’t fancy a taxi home, it’s just ideal.

A cosy and welcoming pub, in a lovely scenic location overlooking a valley. Menu had a good range of options, which suited a variety of tastebuds and appetites. We were very well looked after by Dan, who was charming and helpful. It looks like it would also be a good spot for a summer visit, with a lovely outdoor area, and also attractive accommodation so I'd like to say we'll be back when we're next in the area.

The atmosphere was ok, the food seemed expensive for what it actually was and the veggie options weren’t great! The vegan burger was a disaster to be honest and we had to complain about it. They did knock it off the final bill but won’t be going again…

I organised a family meal for 25 people aged 6 to 81 and we were all pleased with the welcome and the standard of food, service and attention we were given. Nothing was too much trouble and the varied dishes ordered were all served up promptly. The booking was easy too, and various changes handled efficiently and politely. Thoroughly recommend for a group.

Stayed here 3 times now. Lovely staff, clean and comfortable rooms. Bar area is always relaxed and inviting. My only draw back is trying to turn right onto the road outside. It's easier to turn left and turn at a roundabout further up.

Great hotel on the outskirts of Truro city centre. Comfortable, sizeable rooms, well kitted out for the tariff. The attached restaurant serves decent quality food and has a great selection of beverages. Great Value. Garden Views are over the valley. 👍

From our perspective the hotel was really well positioned offering easy walking access to the city centre and railway station. The hotel offers generous parking and is easily accessed as you enter Truro. The bedrooms are well appointed and comfortable, whilst the food was excellent with friendly staff and great bar ambiance.if we return to Truro we will immediately book again.

A group of 10 of us ate here on Halloween evening. The food was lovely and the staff were amazing too. The atmosphere was spot on. I would definitely recommend this pub.

Sadly the restaurant has gone vastly downhill since we last visited! The menu was very limited and the majority being fattening/unhealthy apart from one salad (if you happen to like feta) or one salmon option. We were there to celebrate a birthday on 30 October. There was no drinks menu so we couldn't choose or see the price we would be paying for anything! We were told that there was no drinks menu as it frequently changed! After we had ordered mains and finished eating, we waited and waited and waited for AGES. Nobody came to clear our plates or ask if we would like deserts - the young lady who was supposed to be serving us was sat at the bar, head down, on her phone for an inordinate amount of time. We gave up and went to the bar to pay so that we could leave. We won't be returning.

We keep saying the same thing but as ever brilliant staff, service and hot tasty food, been many times and never disappointed.

Was told to help ourselves to everything on the buffet, only to be billed for orange juice as they said it’s not included but we were not told that. “Everything” means everything, not certain things.

Great staff, food is an ok quality like weatherspoons but expensive for what it is and portion sizes! Foods gone downhill even more and now they don't have Guinness , thsnk god for the Victoria Inn great food and Guinness

I've eaten here a couple of times recently and would highly recommend. The menu is simple yet delicious and all dishes I've tried so fat have been incredibly tasty and really good value for money. Staff have been friendly and knowledgeable and the setting is lovely when sat out on the south facing terrace to the rear of the restaurant.

I’m just reviewing the carvery at entrance we was greeted by Dan it was very busy we hadn’t book and Dan had managed to get us a table he my husband is gluten free Dan was brilliant that is too costumer service at his finest what a credit to the company he was working non stop but his service was top notch it deserves a review just for Dan outstanding service thank you

Been here quite a lot over the last few years with no complaint but today the food was well below par. The prices have gone up the quality today was not very good. I had fish and chips, the fish was very flat and the batter was well over done and greasy. We had no table check during the meal, Nobody asked how the meal was when the plates were cleared or when we paid, which was unusual. I'm not one to complain and ate as much as I could but it left a bad taste in the mouth. My other half isn't wasteful and finished it but said later he wish he hadn't. This is a RARE occasion but has been the most disappointing meal so far.

The best accommodation in the Truro area....that I know of. Has everything you need. A bar, comfortable rooms, free parking..

This was our 1st visit to the County arms . here for a 3 day getaway (wedding anniversary). It was as we expected, food staff and accomadation were very good. Will use the C.A. again when we visit Truro

Superb stay from start to finish. Wonderful clean hotel, beautiful room with gorgeous views from the balcony. Everything was clean and tidy and of good quality. Ate in the restaurant, food was lovely staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Great all round experience ❤️would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

Food was overpriced a feta salad with salad leaves and a sprinkling of Feta not even chunks just a few crumbled bits £15 is expensive, childs meal was 7.50 sausage mash and peas, mash was yellow so guess its powdered but was just a dry lump on the plate, staff were friendly but we are locals and wont be returning

My wife and I would like to make our thanks heard for the excellent service at County Arms. We have been to several places in Truro but the service we received from Alice on this team really made it the most impressive meal out we have had in ages. She was able to cater for our awkward requests for vegetarian food and extra, extra tartare sauce and helped us out with some great recommendations on drinks. Thank you to Alice and thank you to County Arms - we will definitely be back!

Reviewing the pub only. Adult meals were OK if a little over priced. Kids meal was embarrassing, 15p worth of pasta at the very most, finished off in approximately 2mins. Chef must embarrassed to serve such tiny portions. Wines extortionate.

My go-to place to stay when visiting relatives in Truro. Friendly staff, very spacious, comfortable, clean and well appointed room, excellent breakfast menu, extensive parking, good wifi, can't fault it, perfect for my purposes.

Love this place. Everybody is so helpful and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble. Beds are super-comfortable, food is great, as is the bar! Very well place for hospital visits, which unfortunately I have to make fairly regularly. Will definately be staying there again.

Been coming here for years and always loved the food.Tonight we waited nearly an hour for our food and other tables who ordered after us were getting there's before us.The food turned up and my wife's jerk chicken was disgusting and her bread and butter was stale and her corn on the cob was burnt and dried.My burger was nice but had a child's portion of chips.to top it off my wife started chocking on a piece of plastic label left on the lemon on in her coke.I have never left the County Arms feeling hungry but apparently the St Austell brewery have told them to cut there portions.I will never return to this establishment or any other st awfull brewery establishment and will be spreading the word.

Booked a Sunday night for a relaxing evening, was put in a room by the road but was assured by the lady behind the counter that there would be no noise and that the road would be quiet from 8:00, this was a lie. The road had lorries going along it all night and was very loud, the thin old windows did nothing to block our any noise at all. We didn’t sleep. The bathroom was fairly clean but the tiles had dirt in all the grout and along the edges wasn’t very relaxing. The WiFi, which was stated was included, did not work , it would keep cutting out and we couldn’t even watch Netflix on it we ended up using our own mobile hotspot. In the morning when we went to go speak to somebody the lady was very rude and refused to take in anything my partner said, all in all was an awful night. And for £100 you would expect a good night sleep.

Popped in with my 18 year old son; meet with : have you got I.d. to my son when his drink was put in front of him; acceptable to be patronising and aggressive when it took you so long to work out from his I.d. that he was actually 18 and legally entitled to be drinking in the pub? Also, good customer service when you had eventually worked out he was 18 to comment “just” before you wandered off to the bar (my son was 18 last month).Foolishly ordered a second drink; original server in the kitchen chatting and no one else serving drinks. The one shining light of the visit, the young female waitress who offered to investigate why we had not been served 14 minutes after ordering, fetching our drinks is and apologising for the communication breakdown.So, first and last visit, particularly as this is not what I would expect when popping out with my son at the end of the evening.

As some one who lives close by, you like to support your local. But not this one. We have gone back to the County several times, giving them another chance. But never again. The customer service is absolutely awful! A few of the staff are so rude especially the manager who had no managerial skills. This used to be a lovely place to visit. Time to find a new local.

Went here for the Sunday lunch, lovely bright airy restaurant, very friendly staff, fantastic tasting roast dinner, lovely fresh vegetables, good size portions. The sweets were lush as well. Well worth a visit.

Where do I start, stayed in the County Arms for 4 nights, very difficult to get a table in restaurant between mon to weds because of the deal, but to be honest don’t bother, as the food was way over priced and service was dreadful. Booked a table for 8pm one evening, arrived at 10 to 8, was told at door table was not ready, so waited 10 min until called, then waited quite a while before they took our order. I had a starter which was £6 for 4 small chicken wings, which were over cooked, waited over 20 min for main meal, which to be fair was ok, but still over priced. Waited another 25 mins before anyone came to clear the table, by which time, we were told it was too late to order dessert, as they had finished serving. Tbh, the attitude of the staff was appalling when we spoke to them about it, although one waitress did say she’d go and see what was available in the kitchen and make it herself, which did not instill confidence of what we’d have been served! Gobsmacked wasn’t the word for it!

I ordered the regular roast beef which looked like a large meal. My husband had the fish and chips. The beef was good, the vegetables really nice and the gravy lovely but the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding let it down as they tasted reheated. There was no innards to the yorkshire. My husband enjoyed his but felt that the chip portion was a bit small. We both thoroughly enjoyed the desserts, my husband chose the sticky toffee pudding and I had the chocolate brownie with raspberry coulis which looked well presented.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a roast dinner it was lovely , the turkey wasn’t dry at all , and it was home made Yorkshire pudding which I was so happy about and the price was very good two , the only thing i could say it could be seasoned a bit more but just ask for salt and pepper no worry’s lovely ! we had a small one and it was still more than enough to eat, was happy and service quick two ! And Out the back they got a nice little garden two sit in two over the steps very spaced out !!!

Despite very limited basic menu some items not available and not notified until requested. Surly waitress.After having our main course felt abandoned despite a lot of staff. Had to ask for a dessert. Not impressed!

Had a nice meal here, good pub grub tho nothing super exciting. Is a Greene King place and the food and drinks were good value. Lovely, huge multi layered beer garden. Location on a main rd just outside the centre of Truro. Service pretty good, via app if you sit outside. I had the wedges to start and scampi for main. Generous portions.

Seated next to the hotel telephone that was not manned and If kept constant ringing. I asked if they could turn down the ring volume if not answering. Nothing done.Waited ages to order. When my medium steak arrived it was properly well done like charcoal. Very basic menu and lack of staff made the experience terrible.

A very average pub. We ordered two chicken burgers but they were so bland, I ordered a rump steak which was inedible, I eventually hacked it down to piece small enough for my golden retriever to eat which she enjoyed. Even the mushrooms were totally bland as though sitting in water for a long time. Just tasteless the whole meal.

I was staying in a guest house not far from here and wanted somewhere to eat that I could walk to, this place was recommended by my host and I was impressed by the first night so returned on my second. Having instigated new Covid secure guidelines, most of which were well thought through (except the route to exit) We had Scampi and a Hunters Chicken the first night, both of good portions. On the second night we both opted for the roast and this did not disappoint, large portions.I'm pleased we were given the place as a recommendation and the food really was good value, though I felt the cost of a shandy was extortionate in price.
