I’m just reviewing the carvery at entrance we was greeted by Dan it was very busy we hadn’t book and Dan had managed to get us a table he my husband is gluten free Dan was brilliant that is too costumer service at his finest what a credit to the company he was working non stop but his service was top notch it deserves a review just for Dan outstanding service thank you

I've eaten here a couple of times recently and would highly recommend. The menu is simple yet delicious and all dishes I've tried so fat have been incredibly tasty and really good value for money. Staff have been friendly and knowledgeable and the setting is lovely when sat out on the south facing terrace to the rear of the restaurant.

Been here quite a lot over the last few years with no complaint but today the food was well below par. The prices have gone up the quality today was not very good. I had fish and chips, the fish was very flat and the batter was well over done and greasy. We had no table check during the meal, Nobody asked how the meal was when the plates were cleared or when we paid, which was unusual. I'm not one to complain and ate as much as I could but it left a bad taste in the mouth. My other half isn't wasteful and finished it but said later he wish he hadn't. This is a RARE occasion but has been the most disappointing meal so far.

The best accommodation in the Truro area....that I know of. Has everything you need. A bar, comfortable rooms, free parking..

We popped for dinner this evening and the service was great with a smile! Keira explained the wine selection and helped us choose. Would definitely recommend for dinner and wine

As usual service was prompt and friendly. Steak was cooked to perfection. Our go to place before we go to a show at Hall for Cornwall.

This was our 1st visit to the County arms . here for a 3 day getaway (wedding anniversary). It was as we expected, food staff and accomadation were very good. Will use the C.A. again when we visit Truro

Superb stay from start to finish. Wonderful clean hotel, beautiful room with gorgeous views from the balcony. Everything was clean and tidy and of good quality. Ate in the restaurant, food was lovely staff were attentive and knowledgeable. Great all round experience ❤️would definitely recommend and will stay here again.

Food was overpriced a feta salad with salad leaves and a sprinkling of Feta not even chunks just a few crumbled bits £15 is expensive, childs meal was 7.50 sausage mash and peas, mash was yellow so guess its powdered but was just a dry lump on the plate, staff were friendly but we are locals and wont be returning

My wife and I would like to make our thanks heard for the excellent service at County Arms. We have been to several places in Truro but the service we received from Alice on this team really made it the most impressive meal out we have had in ages. She was able to cater for our awkward requests for vegetarian food and extra, extra tartare sauce and helped us out with some great recommendations on drinks. Thank you to Alice and thank you to County Arms - we will definitely be back!

Reviewing the pub only. Adult meals were OK if a little over priced. Kids meal was embarrassing, 15p worth of pasta at the very most, finished off in approximately 2mins. Chef must embarrassed to serve such tiny portions. Wines extortionate.

Excellent stay, super spacious rooms, delicious food, lovely views, helpful staff. Would highly recommend.

Might be a little more expensive, but worth the money. The rooms are fantastic, and you can have breakfast in a dining area which looks out to beautiful countryside.

Couldn't fault our stay here. Dan and his team were welcoming, friendly and professional . The evening meal was well cooked and delicious as was the plentiful breakfast with an excellent choice. Rooms were well equipped and spotless with some nice little extra touches. We'll definitely return.

My go-to place to stay when visiting relatives in Truro. Friendly staff, very spacious, comfortable, clean and well appointed room, excellent breakfast menu, extensive parking, good wifi, can't fault it, perfect for my purposes.

Staff were super friendly and efficient! The carvery was all very well filled up and all very hot with the meats being cooked to perfection!

Fantastic views over the valley and lovely beer garden. Good selection of food and drinks. Locally sourced ingredients. Great cooked breakfast, especially the bacon.

Love this place. Everybody is so helpful and cheerful. Nothing is too much trouble. Beds are super-comfortable, food is great, as is the bar! Very well place for hospital visits, which unfortunately I have to make fairly regularly. Will definately be staying there again.

Been coming here for years and always loved the food.Tonight we waited nearly an hour for our food and other tables who ordered after us were getting there's before us.The food turned up and my wife's jerk chicken was disgusting and her bread and butter was stale and her corn on the cob was burnt and dried.My burger was nice but had a child's portion of chips.to top it off my wife started chocking on a piece of plastic label left on the lemon on in her coke.I have never left the County Arms feeling hungry but apparently the St Austell brewery have told them to cut there portions.I will never return to this establishment or any other st awfull brewery establishment and will be spreading the word.

Booked a Sunday night for a relaxing evening, was put in a room by the road but was assured by the lady behind the counter that there would be no noise and that the road would be quiet from 8:00, this was a lie. The road had lorries going along it all night and was very loud, the thin old windows did nothing to block our any noise at all. We didn’t sleep. The bathroom was fairly clean but the tiles had dirt in all the grout and along the edges wasn’t very relaxing. The WiFi, which was stated was included, did not work , it would keep cutting out and we couldn’t even watch Netflix on it we ended up using our own mobile hotspot. In the morning when we went to go speak to somebody the lady was very rude and refused to take in anything my partner said, all in all was an awful night. And for £100 you would expect a good night sleep.

Popped in with my 18 year old son; meet with : have you got I.d. to my son when his drink was put in front of him; acceptable to be patronising and aggressive when it took you so long to work out from his I.d. that he was actually 18 and legally entitled to be drinking in the pub? Also, good customer service when you had eventually worked out he was 18 to comment “just” before you wandered off to the bar (my son was 18 last month).Foolishly ordered a second drink; original server in the kitchen chatting and no one else serving drinks. The one shining light of the visit, the young female waitress who offered to investigate why we had not been served 14 minutes after ordering, fetching our drinks is and apologising for the communication breakdown.So, first and last visit, particularly as this is not what I would expect when popping out with my son at the end of the evening.

As some one who lives close by, you like to support your local. But not this one. We have gone back to the County several times, giving them another chance. But never again. The customer service is absolutely awful! A few of the staff are so rude especially the manager who had no managerial skills. This used to be a lovely place to visit. Time to find a new local.

Went here for the Sunday lunch, lovely bright airy restaurant, very friendly staff, fantastic tasting roast dinner, lovely fresh vegetables, good size portions. The sweets were lush as well. Well worth a visit.

Where do I start, stayed in the County Arms for 4 nights, very difficult to get a table in restaurant between mon to weds because of the deal, but to be honest don’t bother, as the food was way over priced and service was dreadful. Booked a table for 8pm one evening, arrived at 10 to 8, was told at door table was not ready, so waited 10 min until called, then waited quite a while before they took our order. I had a starter which was £6 for 4 small chicken wings, which were over cooked, waited over 20 min for main meal, which to be fair was ok, but still over priced. Waited another 25 mins before anyone came to clear the table, by which time, we were told it was too late to order dessert, as they had finished serving. Tbh, the attitude of the staff was appalling when we spoke to them about it, although one waitress did say she’d go and see what was available in the kitchen and make it herself, which did not instill confidence of what we’d have been served! Gobsmacked wasn’t the word for it!

I ordered the regular roast beef which looked like a large meal. My husband had the fish and chips. The beef was good, the vegetables really nice and the gravy lovely but the potatoes and Yorkshire pudding let it down as they tasted reheated. There was no innards to the yorkshire. My husband enjoyed his but felt that the chip portion was a bit small. We both thoroughly enjoyed the desserts, my husband chose the sticky toffee pudding and I had the chocolate brownie with raspberry coulis which looked well presented.

Me and my boyfriend came here for a roast dinner it was lovely , the turkey wasn’t dry at all , and it was home made Yorkshire pudding which I was so happy about and the price was very good two , the only thing i could say it could be seasoned a bit more but just ask for salt and pepper no worry’s lovely ! we had a small one and it was still more than enough to eat, was happy and service quick two ! And Out the back they got a nice little garden two sit in two over the steps very spaced out !!!

Despite very limited basic menu some items not available and not notified until requested. Surly waitress.After having our main course felt abandoned despite a lot of staff. Had to ask for a dessert. Not impressed!

Had a nice meal here, good pub grub tho nothing super exciting. Is a Greene King place and the food and drinks were good value. Lovely, huge multi layered beer garden. Location on a main rd just outside the centre of Truro. Service pretty good, via app if you sit outside. I had the wedges to start and scampi for main. Generous portions.

Seated next to the hotel telephone that was not manned and If kept constant ringing. I asked if they could turn down the ring volume if not answering. Nothing done.Waited ages to order. When my medium steak arrived it was properly well done like charcoal. Very basic menu and lack of staff made the experience terrible.

A very average pub. We ordered two chicken burgers but they were so bland, I ordered a rump steak which was inedible, I eventually hacked it down to piece small enough for my golden retriever to eat which she enjoyed. Even the mushrooms were totally bland as though sitting in water for a long time. Just tasteless the whole meal.

I was staying in a guest house not far from here and wanted somewhere to eat that I could walk to, this place was recommended by my host and I was impressed by the first night so returned on my second. Having instigated new Covid secure guidelines, most of which were well thought through (except the route to exit) We had Scampi and a Hunters Chicken the first night, both of good portions. On the second night we both opted for the roast and this did not disappoint, large portions.I'm pleased we were given the place as a recommendation and the food really was good value, though I felt the cost of a shandy was extortionate in price.

Went for Sunday roast with 2 friends. The service was efficient and found us a table and then we joined a fast moving queue for the carvery. There was lots of choice of meats and plenty of different vegetables - all hot, tasty and quickly replenished. They also had a choice of 3 sized meals which was better than just a large and a small. We all enjoyed our meals and left full and happy!

A good place to meet up. Carvery at lunchtime ? evening. Standard range, some interesting light lunch options. No complaints, but a bit soulless. accessible toilet

The only time I eat here now is when with work colleagues and I have no choice. Went for the roast and yet again it was cold. Vegetables looked a mess. Surely it's not rocket science to keep a buffet roast hot and change it regularly. Eating out is not cheap and you shouldn't have to complain about food being served cold!

My absolute favourite cavery in the area. It’s always consistently hot, tasty and chef always serves with a smile. We always enjoy every visit to this lovely pub. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars Is as they friendliness of the bar staff can be a bit hit and miss at times, which is a real shame.

Had the Mediterranean vegetable pasta today from the lunch menu. The penne pasta was under-cooked and stuck together in clumps. The sauce was like water with a few sloppy stodgy vegetables here and there. A clump of rocket was dumped on top in an effort to make it look more appealing. I would have been disappointment in myself if i had knocked this up at home if i'm honest! The only positive was the speed of service but actually in this case it demonstrated not necessarily to be a good thing. A bit of attention to what was being served would have been nice.

The staff at this delightful hotel make it a real pleasure to stay there and they cope well with the fairly large group of us - thee food was good as always and the rooms were clean and tidy - no hesitation to recommend this to all

The County Arms is an exceptional over-night experience ~ professional greeting - nice comfortable room ~ fluffy towels and a user friendly shower ~ fresh pillows and very comfortable beds ~ perfect ladies make-up facility (light - plug & mirror) ~ excellent evening meal ~ perfect continental breakfast ~ easy parking ~ this hotel is an ideal overnight location and one we will use regularly ~ polite staff and economical charged ~ all in all very well done by the individuals involved in running this facility ~ THANK YOU Just one criticism ~ heavily bearded bare headed Chefs really should not be serving at The Carvery without obvious protection for the customer ~ this rather casual approach fails to confirm sufficient server hygiene standards customer's expect.

Went today with my nan, partner and nephew. Service a bit slow but the waiter was very friendly and obliging. My partner and I had a carvery but unfortunately the meat was inedible. Well my partner still ate his as he didn't want to waste it ha. My nan had scampi and chips and my nephew fish and chips which they both said was very nice. I have had chips there before in the past and they were very nice. We all had dessets to which took a while to come out buy was very nice

Christmas isn't always easy and going out for our Christmas dinner wasn't our first choice. But Dan and his wonderful staff made us feel so welcome and catered for. The food was exquisite and we all left feeling full and festive. Thankyou so much to all the staff who worked today. Merry Christmas!

Use this place quite a bit. Carvery mainly to be honest, good veg selection. Staff very good service excellent. If I have to have one little gripe, they had pigs in blankets on offer, but told they were only for the festive menu, we were having the roast, now come on don't you think it's a bit off could have everything else but that. Bit petty really I thought. Maybe you should really think this. Other than that all good

We visited this evening and had a car very, we chose the standard size and it was plenty for us. The chef was very helpful in helping my wife select food that was both gluten and dairy free and even made her a special gravy

Slow service and the most basic food.

This was our second visit we came last October when we brought our daughter down for her uni interview and we had a lovely meal. So now she is down her at Falmouth university we thought we would pay another visit while we fown here spending some time with her. Booked a table it was a friday evening and busy people being turned away so definitely book we had another lovely meal and will be back

Went for Food and drinks on a sunday afternoon with my wife. Disappointing experience. Manager behaved like we were an inconvenience and not welcome here. Tried his best to ignore us even when he asked the other diners around us if their food was fine. The waiter managed to forget a cleaning detergent on our table.At least, the food was fine

Came here on a whim, after going to a prior arranged location to be told no breakfast on a Sunday, so heading into Truro we drove past the County Arms, pulled into a massive car park, and headed into there establishment, Greeted by a polite barman who said breakfast is not a problem, ushered us to our seats and informed us about the fresh juice and toast, asked if we would like a hot drink and bought it over to us, after a few minutes he returned to take our food order, we both had a fry up, the sausage was absolutely amazing the egg was perfectly cooked , and pre seasoned food was spot on, no need to add extra pepper as it was just rite, I would 100% recomend dining here to anyone, friendly staff, brilliant food, and a relaxed atmosphere, We shall return here again for surtain, well done guys and thankyou for a great Sunday morning experience!

Very slow and poor service one meal arrived a long time after the first. Would think twice about coming back again.

All I was after was something tasty after a long day at work. If you don’t like chips, burgers etc not a lot of choice. Asked to swap veg for coleslaw on a main costing over £10 and was told it would be extra. Had two starters instead. So-so at best. A real shame as the staff are v pleasant and helpful and the attached hotel does the job nicely. As I do this trip regularly I may be looking for another solution. Would actively avoid eating here again in the evening.

First time here, nice looking place, friendly staff. We went for the carvery, good selection of fresh vegetables & meat, very tasty & plentiful. Good service. Well worth a visit.

We have been to the county arms on several occasions and I must say the service and food is lovely however this time we tried the carvery as it looked absolutely lovely but we were left very disappointed because The whole meal was very bland and had no flavour whatsoever and the stuffing was just sausage meat with some cranberries thrown on top I felt quite disappointed I really do feel that they need to taste there own carvery and at least season and add flavour

have eaten here a good few times and found the food ok the carvery taste better than it looks and there's plenty of it the food is average and does the job its just a bit slow in the service dept and could be a bit more smiley in the carvery dept but overall its ok.

We arrived at the county arms at 12-30 was seated and told it was table service we sat for at least 15 minutes while staff walked around eventually we went and ordered at the bar 3 carvery meals once again we stood at the carvery station being totally ignored ithe establishment only 1/3 full all in all disgusting service

Popped in on the way to truro. Lovely meal and good value. Didn’t have the kids with us but the kids menu looked great. Will bring them along next time.

Visited here this evening with family- including two children. The menu was okay but I was surprised there was not much of a vegetarian selection. Only a couple of options really and none of them really appealed. The rest of the menu was fine and there was a good kids menu. We had a couple of starters which were great. Very large portions. The mains were also okay apart from the portion of side veg that was ordered was literally ice cold. It was taken away and the waiter was apologetic. I will say also that the pasta dish was very basic. I couldn’t eat it all as I was quite full. It was okay but really not good value for money as no more than a bowl of pasta with some pesto stirred through. The desserts were very good. Again, good size portions. Overall it was okay. The staff are lovely and attentive. Drinks great. Food okay but could do better.

Sunday carvery was an ample good meal, At 1pm on a crowded Sunday it was a bit of a bun fight but by 2pm it was back to normal. Choose your time and day.

Stayed here on 8th august and was greeted by a nice young lady , check in was quick and the room was very clean . We used the bar in the evening and all the staff seem very pleasant . Continental breakfast in the morning was also good so all in all was a pleasant stay ,only marked 4 out of 5 as the room was quite cold but apart from that all good

Great place to meet friends as there is a free car park, but I don’t think the food is freshly made now. I had a roast on a Monday and it may well have been left over from the previous day. Still, it’s comfortable and staff leave you in peace and don’t rush you, so it’s worth a visit.

We had dinner at this pub on our first night in Truro. The food and drinks were acceptable and moderately priced. The portion sizes were filling. The dining room and bar area has plenty of natural light and is spacious. The views from the verandah are very good. The pleasant staff provided good service with a smile.

Sat on the large balcony with our dog as it was such a warm day. There is table-service but I opted for a "small" carvery ... it was enormous!! Choice of turkey or ham, carved off the bone, Yorkshire pudding, all the trimmings - as much veg as you could eat - it must be the best value in Cornwall! The service was attentive but not overbearing. Other dishes were available, but the carvery was superb.

We stayed here one Saturday night and invited extended family to dinner that evening. The restaurant was extremely noisy and we had difficulty holding a conversation.

Haven’t been here for over ten years due to poor reviews from family. However, we were told things had improved so we decided to stop for lunch on Saturday. Out the back, we were surprised by the lovely setting, that certainly wasn’t there years ago! The food (just sandwiches) came out quickly and looked nice but unfortunately did not taste very good. The prawns were watery and bland, absolutely no flavour at all. The chicken and bacon was in a strange herby mayonnaise which just didn’t work and the cheese and sweet pickle, was so sweet it was like eating a teaspoon of pure sugar. Unfortunately, not good enough to persuade us to return.

booked a table for Saturday evening for friends from up county when we arrived no table booked but we will fit you in .my gammon overcooked so was very dry my sons mixed grill was overcooked except for the steak cooked to perfection 2 beef lasagne were insipid to say the least and the hunters chicken was was very dry . service was very slow the desserts expect for the strawberry sponge were nothing like the description a gateaux looked like a flan another restaurant to cross off mot not to go again

We went early and were able to get a table. It got very busy later with customers who had booked. Pleasant waitress. We had the carvery which offered two sizes. Choice of three meats. Good range of vegetables but they were overcooked and fairly tasteless. We had the small size which was plenty. We chose lemon tart with clotted cream which was nice.

We often go to The County Arms Truro, we always enjoy a good meal, the staff are always friendly and it is a well run pub/restaurant.

Had two meals in the restaurant both were very nice happy friendly staff and reasonable prices. It was busy but with a good atmosphere food came out quick and hot. A veranda with lovely views of the country side

Spontaneous weekend break with the other half , we had to various other hotels in the area but thought we'd try the County Arms & we were in for a big surprise when we arrived

I stayed at the County Arms during the week. As you'd expect, the beer was excellent as was the food. My bed was extremely comfortable, I had a couple of great night's sleep.

Visited one evening and had a very nice meal, tasty, hot and good value. Service very good and staff helpful. Lovely views over the valley on a warm day if you want to sit outside, if not enjoy from inside! Worth a visit.

I was there, on Sunday 2nd January 2011, for a friend's friend's 30th birthday, and i had a carvery there. I went there via train and bus to the "County Arms" for a private 40th birthday party down in the function room, on Saturday 2nd March 2019.

My wife organised her works do here for Xmas. We have done others over the years and I wandered why she chose here at first... cut a long story short.. amazing. The price seemed cheap but the food was amazing. Never expected the 3 course meal for the price. The staff and service was amazing. Prompt and polite. Well done to all the staff as they are a credit to you.

Having just come from the local Hospital having been informed i needed heart surgery we Called in for lunch a week before Christmas looking for a table for two, the pub was full, however despite the staff running around like headless chicken's they managed to sort us a table, the guy was fantastic, brought our drinks to the table and the food arrived very quick and a great meal it was too.

Managed to get into restaurant at the last minute.

Been today with family Christmas lunch. 10 of us. Excellent service. Table looked lovely very festive even Christmas crackers good. We all had starters except the children. 3 of us had the prawn cocktail that was tasteless. Everything else fantastic. Carvery brilliant choice of 3 meats with everything to go with it. Desserts all good. Service exceptional staff really attentive nothing to much trouble. Family really enjoyed it. My husband and I eat in here most weeks always good. Thank you for lovely family lunch today we all enjoyed it keep up the good work we'll see you very soon that's for sure.

Decided on a whim to pop in with a friend for lunch today. I chose the sausage and mash from the lunch menu (with onion rings) and requested a side of peas. My friend had a bacon and Brie panini with sweet potato fries. We both agreed that the food was very good. With respect to my meal, the portion size was more than adequate for the price. It is always a good option for a tasty, filling lunch.

When we visited we all chose the carvery which was excellent. My wife is gluten and lactose intolerant so they prepared some items especially for her. Great now that orders are taken at the table instead of the bar.
