Booked 16 people (family) for Christmas Sunday lunch, wow what a great meal and the service was excellent, table was beautifully decorated withcrackers and even a mini selection box each, these little touches are what makes a great place, absolutely suberb, fully recommend any time of year 💯 👌

We recently visited the New Inn as a family group of twelve for Sunday/Birthday lunch. The booking was made for 12.00 on a Sunday and upon checking the opening time online, I saw that the venue was due to opensat 12.00. As some guests were travelling a distance and the weather was changeable, I thought it sensible to call and check the precise details and what time time we would be expected to sit down to eat. After several unanswered calls and the absence of a functioning voicemail system, I eventually spoke to a staff member and what I thought was a straightforward question, proved quite difficult to elicit an answer to but we got there in the end. At the time the booking was made, we were requested to supply our individual choices as the venue used place settings and the staff would know whose order was whose. In addition, that teas and coffees would be available afterwards. The required names and choices were passed to the venue in good time. Upon arrival, it was apparent that there were no place settings and I queried why. I was told that whilst place settings were used for parties, as we had submitted our choices the staff would know individual's specific choices, so there was no requirement for place settings. The staff member, (E) pointed out to me that she had been in the business over fifteen years and knew what she was doing. I went on to explain my difficulties in communicating with the staff member on the phone and I was curtly told that the individual concerned had been in the business for over twenty years! We sat down to eat at a sticky table. As the food arrived, served by two staff members, (E) and one other. It was clear that (E) knew exactly what people had ordered but her colleague didn't and this caused some confusion. An elderly member of the party was concerned that his beef was not cooked to his satisfaction so staff member (E), took it away only to return it moments later advising that she had inspected it and that was well done! This style of customer service was a new experience to me and in my opinion, more likely to achieve customer humiliation than customer satisfaction! After the meal, I requested to place an order for teas and coffees but was told to my total surprise that teas or coffees would not be available as the venue had no coffee machine.

Had an impromptu lunch visit recently while my car was being serviced nearby. A week or so before Xmas so it was quite busy but I was offered a seat quickly and given menus. Liked the fact you can order from the menu using a QR code. Has the signature burger, fries, slaw and onion rings (extra charge for these). Overall the food was good. The burger was well cooked with a good amount of cheese etc. my main observation here is the fries. They use the Mcdonalds style thin fries. If these aren’t cooked perfectly they become hard and brittle which means you’ve got to chase them around the plate to get them on your fork whilst they shatter when prodded with a fork. Mine were slightly over so didn’t enjoy the game of chip chase around my plate. Get thicker chips guys please! Staff were friendly and attentive and I would definitely return but will avoid the fries next time.
