The best restaurants serving British food in South West

i’ve come down here to visit my family, and we stopped in this pub to have a quick bite to eat but the old lady (owner i’m assuming) was absolutely rude to me and my family, we moved to the opposite table because our one was dirty and she proceeded to make a rude comment and be passive aggressive towards us, would not come here again.

Absolutely cracking roast dinner. Had the sharing platter for 2 and was fantastic! Will be back for sure.

Came here with my old man. The place just stood out with an amazing atmosphere and proper old English feeling inside. The couple that ran the place (sorry if you are not) very friendly and welcoming. We had the special today. Lamb liver with bacon, mash, and garden peas. Very nice price too. If we loved closer, we would definitely come back. Thank you for a lovely enjoyable visit.

Incredibly friendly staff. A lovely place for a drink or a coffee. The food looks good too!

We had a lovely meal here,we were the only ones eating there at the time so everything was lovely.The steak was perfect and we sat beside the fire so the atmosphere was great too.

The place is really good, absolutely vibing on a weekend, after 10pm the alcoholic drinks almost doubled in price.

Our table of seven were delighted! It was easily the best restaurant meal we've ever had. All three courses were exceptional. Absolutely delicious. It was evident that the Chef is highly skilled and had put much thought and expertise into every element of each of our meals. Outstanding in every way. We especially appreciated the special vegan gluten free menu that the Chef devised for some of our party. Again, Outstanding. The best vegan meal ever. Great wine list. The service was friendly, warm and professional. It is a beautiful venue to enjoy a special meal. A real gem. Highly recommended. Thank you Fontmell Pub!

Great breakfast as always visited many times over the years

Menu states vegan options. We ask to order 2 x vegan meals were told that they were not available. Went to relook at the menu tried to order a different vegan option was told there was no vegan food available except breakfast. This was delivered with bad attitude and our drinks were sat on the back of the counter and was told there’s your drinks. If there’s one thing I hate about eating out is attitude when I’m the paying customer. If you have no vegan food available put a sign up saying so. It’s not rocket science.

Previous visits to the Badger have been great and we have always enjoyed the food. Tonight we tried the camenbert starter for two. Very small portion for two to share. The Scampi & Chips main was very overcooked. We should have refused the food. At the end of the meal I did mention it to the waitress and asked if she would tell the chef. I didn't ask for a discount as perhaps it was a one off.

Fab meal, friendly staff, lovely atmosphere

This is a quirky little local pub with a really friendly local crowd. The staff here are all wonderful and so willing to accommodate. The bar offers a really good selection of drinks, and I’ve been told that the food here can be quite good. made a visit on a Friday, and it was a sling with energy, but not uncomfortable at all.
