The best restaurants in South West

Can’t wait to come back. Loved every minute. Yes it is pricey and you could probably find somewhere cheaper nearby but you can see where your money goes. From the moment you turn into the property and see the house - WOW. The pictures do not do it justice. The grounds with the river running through are beautiful. The main house is stunning with real log fire in the entrance with comfy sofas to relax. We stayed in one of the Mews cottages with our cat Pisco. He loved it. Running from the massive bathroom to the bedroom and back. He especially loved the bay window where he could watch the world and pose for pictures. Breakfast was great with some great al a carte options the eggs Royale was our favourite - add some black pudding you will not be disappointed. Unfortunately we stayed when the weather had been wet so couldn’t do any of the long walks due to the mud. Definitely will be back in the summer. For food the Castle Inn which they also own was unbelievable. We also ate at the Bybrook but I personally felt the Castle Inn was a better cost to quality option.

Our friends told us about Blas Burgers claiming that it's the best Burgers in Cornwall. I disagree. These were the best Burgers we have ever had, anywhere. It's small, only a few tables to dine in, but Blas also do takeaways. Our party had two of the truffle Burgers, one deluxe and one Chimchi. All of us agreed it'hey were the best burgers we have ever tasted. The accompaniment of fries were cooked just how I like, skin on. This, no doubt, will be the first of many visits.

Came for a family meal during our time staying in cheddar. Amazing food, friendly staff who couldn’t do enough for you, great atmosphere would come back in a heartbeat 👌

19 of us descended on Paul and Tammy for their xmas special,The Loaded roast!! Everyone without exception loved the meal and whole experience,for some it was their first time at The Rock Pool and others of us who have enjoyed our weekly visit during 2024. We also sang quite a few carols which was great fun. Many thanks to the wonderful staff who put up with us!! We look forward to the coming year and many more great times at our local cafe. What a treat. Amazing menu (we are all vegetarians) and exceptionally helpful staff. The food was delicious. The chilli paneer was especially gorgeous. Very impressed all round!!! Awesome. Highly recommend.

Superb festive burger! I visited to try the 'Boney M' festive special a couple of years ago but they didn't have it available so I finally got around to trying again. I'm extremely glad I did too because it was a top tier burger. The pulled brisket was so tasty with a little bit of crisp in places too. A perfectly cooked beef patty and a nice soft bun with garlic butter soaked into it. I was disappointed to hear something else was unavailable this time. They didn't have the brisket 'baubles'. I had some OG Tenders instead and fortunately they were phenomenal. Perfect crisp coating with excellent seasoning. I've had some superb food at this place and did so again but it would be great to go and not be told of things not being available! Previous visit: As was the case on my previous visits the service and food quality was excellent. I'll get the major negative out the way first. I was hugely disappointed that the festive special brisket burger and brisket balls were unavailable. I went specifically to try them having been teased by Instagram posts in the build up to Christmas. I've found myself in this predicament many times at multiple restaurants/eateries and it really does lower my opinion of places sadly. I've had one of the best meals of my life at eat the bird too. However the Dirty Ronald burger was an okay consolation. Very nice patties and bun with plenty of pickles. It did have too much sauce though. I like a messy burger but the mustard overpowered the other flavours. They did have the chicken tenders I had picked out beforehand and they were superb. Lovely crisp coating with tasty seasoning but yet the chicken was juicy and moist inside. I'll try to get over missing out on the burger I wanted because this place is great and has an impressive menu. I must also say that my last visit left me slightly disappointed too as they'd ditched tater tots from the menu. Hopefully I'll get some Christmas joy next year when brisket returns (and tater tots to create some real magic!).

I’ve been here twice now and it never disappoints. The food is always amazing and this time I tried their spicy margaritas—they were great!

Tried it last night with friends..Wasnt sure what to expect because it's doesn't shout out from the frontage.. WOW WOW WOW. It's like an entering a different country inside. Everything about it was absolutely fantastic.. Service ✅ Atmosphere ✅ Food ✅ Price ✅ Couldn't fault a single thing all evening.. Brilliant ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
