Bolters Coleford in Gloucester

Great service. We telephoned a long order in and were given a collection time. We arrived a little early to collect and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were keen to share top tips for local entertainment. The food cartons in our order were thoughtfully labelled so our take-away order was easy to sort out. The burgers and fries were delicious and so reasonably priced. Thank you for a lovely start to our weekend away.

Up there with the best quality breakfast l've ever had! All absolutely freshly cooked. Will be back for sure.

This place is a lovely cosy gastro restaurant, with great food, the burgers are amazing, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. All at a really reasonable price.

Service great I had all day breakfast it was lovely. My granddaughter had there burger it was one of the best she had tasted. My husband had a toastie which he said was really tasty. Could not fault it. We only come over this restaurant by accident glad we did.

What a fantastic place! Fabulous little restaurant, wonderful staff (Chloe you were amazing!) and truly delicious food! Cannot rate this place highly enough. Four adults dined for evening meal and four extremely satisfied bellies! We all agreed the food was the best we'd had out in a very long time, and I don't say that lightly! I had the BBQ platter; the meat was succulent, tasty and fell apart. Hubby and parents had burgers. All 5*! This restaurant deserves the No.1 spot! Will definitely be visiting again!

With a completed visit to a well-known beauty spot near Coleford on this, the last day of, our mini break, we decided to dine nearby. We didn’t want to get home, and then have to cook, or go out again; so this was to be our main meal of the day. My research, into the eateries we might like to visit in Coleford, had revealed this was the stand-out place for our lunch. I had made a lunch reservation for 12:30, and I was asked at that time to pay a £5 per person deposit to be refunded against the price of our meal. I didn’t mind at all, and this measure may help to prevent people from making reservations and failing to show up. Restaurants lose substantial revenue because of the thoughtlessness of some people, who do not cancel reservations when they know they cannot attend. By the time we sat at our table we were absolutely ready to eat. The menu had already been viewed online and reviews here on TA had revealed that the burgers sold here are really good, so that is what we ordered. We both chose the BBQ Brisket Burger (8oz beef burger in a bun with slow smoked cooked beef brisket, Emmental cheese and homemade BBQ sauce with skin on fries. I opted for rosemary and sea salt fries instead of the ordinary fries. The burgers were fab. They were dense and not at all greasy, and importantly they tasted of beef (some burger I have had didn’t). The brisket was a different texture and the BBQ sauce went very well with both meats. My fries were nicely flavoured; I really love the taste of most herbs and rosemary is certainly one we use in our own homemade meals. We had no room for desserts, and we didn’t want anything else other that the Elderflower Cordial that we both had ordered on our arrival. We would like to thank the Manager, who was very informative when asked about some of the framed blown-up vintage photos that adorn the walls, these we found interesting and showed the shop as it was in times past.

Delicious food served by a great team of smiley young staff who couldn't do enough for us. One of our party had some allergies to be considered. Before we arrived the chef had prepared list of all of the foods that were safe for her to eat. Really thoughtful and professional.

I had the chicken supreme which was really good (I mean really!) and others had burgers all of which were great. Lovely staff and a great environment.

We booked Bolters as we enjoy smoked food, but it's a shame as we were disappointed. We ordered "Applewood smoked BBQ pork ribs" and the "BBQ platter" It looked and tasted like the meats were all just cooked by heat and not smoked. There is a big difference in look and taste. Not a single smoke ring in any of the meets. Because of this, there was very little taste in any of the meets, and the sauce that came with it wasn't the best. My guess is, the use slow cook ovens. The staff were all really good, and so service was excellent, could not fault them.

We had a meal for 12 at Bolters this weekend to celebrate my partner’s Birthday. The food was excellent..virtually everyone chose a different meal so the chef coped extremely well with that. The waiters were very helpful and attentive. A good experience we would recommend them wholeheartedly. Thank you all at Bolters.

Helpful, friendly, knowledgeable staff. The bbq platter is very popular and we know why - absolutely delicious, great selection of meat and each bit very tasty. Just about had room for dessert which was also very nice. Recommend booking as this place, understandably, gets busy.
