We visited on Friday 30th August. A busy day in the city, as it was pay day sunny and the end of the school holidays. The decor and ambience is really great in here. Despite being busy, both the young ladies who served us were wonderful. They were attentive, friendly, helpful, hardworking and calm- a real asset to the business. We enjoyed the special offer of a sandwich, chips, coffee and cake for £14:95. I thought this was a very fair price, especially given the premium location, adjacent to the Cathedral. Lovely Brie and cranberry and given the option of having it toasted, which was perfect. It was good to have the choice of coffees too. We have since recommended you to family and friends.

Very pleasant cafe located near the Cathedral. The toastie was one of the best enjoyed as the bread was actually toasted on both sides - an u usual occurrence recently! Would certainly return.

What a delightful little cafe this is! Housed in a quaint historic building within view of Gloucester cathedral. We (3 friends) had the full English breakfast at £12.99. A fair price which included tea or coffee. Trish, the owner and her son are super friendly and most welcoming - can’t fault their customer service, or indeed the food and overall ambience.

Called in 'on spec' on a sunny Sunday lunchtime and although busy we were given a warm welcome and enjoyed some of the best lunchtime fare ever 😀 My wife spent most of the meal telling me how good her jacket potato was, while I enjoyed an unusual Halloumi toastie and the best coffee I've had in a long time! And very reasonably priced, too. Highly recommended if you get the opportunity.

We spent some time in Gloucester yesterday and came to look at the Cathedral. This little place was nearby so we popped in for a drink. The lad came over to us and explained that he was very sorry but he could only do takeaway drinks as they were due to shut at 3pm. It was 2.57pm. Not a problem for us at all and it was nice he offered rather than just saying he couldn't help us. He was very polite as was the other girl that was working with him. Shame we didn't get there earlier as the cakes looked good but if we return to Gloucester we will pay it another visit.

We had a comfy pew overlooking the lane leading to the cathedral, so no shortage of ambience. Couldn't resist ordering the Gloucester Old Spot sausages in a bap. They were excellent. Was working in Gloucester and tried a few cafes for a Friday breakfast (as always) then stumbled across The Comfy Pew. That was back in October 2023 and I have been back every Friday since. Firstly the produce used is second to none. Everything that is put on the plate is cleared up with joy.. Plus the chef cooks it all to perfection. No waiting, no messing. Then the service is excellent. The blonde.. And the not so blond (😂) are very friendly making you feel very welcomed and always serve with care and a smile. Lastly, the setting is lovely and very clean in line with being situated just outside the Cathedral grounds. I recommend anyone to pay The Comfy Pew a visit and they will not be disappointed.

We tried this quaint little Tudor era cafe next to Gloucester Cathedral and we were not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and the food was excellent. My dining colleague Rowan says this is the best English breakfast he's had in all our cafe reviews covering Cheltenham and Gloucester. 10 out of 10. It was £12.99 for a large breakfast, but this includes tea and coffee, so the price evens out to similar establishments.

I had the pancakes for breakfast and my boyfriend had a full English, both of which warm 5/5 stars from us, very reasonably priced for such large portions!

Well I can’t believe the review saying a member of staff was seen vaping in the kitchen, The kitchen is not visible from the main seating area, could this have been steam from the kitchen as if the back door was open you will definitely get a natural through draft. It would also be very difficult to hear conversations from the staff from the kitchen area. I have been to this establishment many times over the past few years and have always been impressed with the quality and service provided from very professional and friendly staff. Myself family and friends will always use this establishment as we believe it is second to none. Keep up the good work. Well done. Mike and friends

I went here with my wife for our 50th wedding anniversary last week. The food was subpar considering its advertised as luxury but was somewhat reasonably priced. A somewhat young lady was walking around the back vaping frequently and I saw her blow it into the kitchen. The vape was uncomfortably close to my food preparation area and I feel disgusted at what the youth of today seem to be up to. I heard frequent bad language such as calling customers 'pigs' behind the employees only doors and I feel as if this added an uncomfortable atmosphere. My wife is quite insecure and she felt these were aimed at her. Heed my warning! You will find faults!

This is such a great little cafe! We holiday in Gloucester every year in November and found this place a couple of years back now. Since then its become a ritual that we visit for breakfast at least once during our holiday. Its a wonderful little place, right next to the cathedral in a quirky old building. Theres always a lovely warm welcome and atmosphere here which we really enjoy. The staff are smiley and friendly and manage the busy service well. The breakfast is always top quality, hot and great value and there are good options for those not wanting a fry up, including a vegan breakfast option. Theres 5 of us and a dog most times we visit with various dietary requirements and requests and the staff manage our complicated orders well and when we ordered an extra sausage for the dog it even came out already chopped up and cooled down ready for the pooch to eat! (We were quite impressed with that haha) This really is a must visit cafe to any Gloucester local or visitor, but its popular and often busy so we always book and would reccommend others do too!

Went in for lunch today and was very disappointed. Pointed out my glass was very dirty all round the outside which was only noticeable when some of the lemonade had been drunk. The lady who I pointed it out to said that some of the glasses are old and marked. I showed her you could rub it off and all she said “oh sorry” as she turned around and walked off. Not even an offer of a clean glass. So disappointed as customer service is everything, the way this was dealt with has meant I would never visit again or recommend to anyone. I am adding this comment to my review to respond to the reply to my comment. I don't think you're response, when I bought your attention to the dirty glass, was in our opinion, what was expected for good customer service. In our opinion your first comment should have been I'm sorry let me get you a clean glass, we had no idea you were going to check your other glasses when you just turned and walked away. I didn't comment about the food as it wouldn't have mattered if it was 5 star once I had realised I had been drinking out of a dirty glass and I had such a dismissive response to my complaint it spoilt the whole meal. The only reason I have left this review is purely based on your response to us if it had been dealt with there and then I wouldn't have felt the need to do this.

The cafe is situated just next to cathedral abd I'm sure lots of tourists come to visit it fir a cup of coffee or tea. That was my first time to visit it. Its small place and stuffy in it,no fresh air,so I decided to be outdoor where there are some tables to sit on . I ordered French fries and a cup of coffee. I didn't wait long time it was served on time. Unfortunately I was disappointed when I saw hair on French fries and that was disgusting, and might be poisonous, I can't stand hair in the meal. My friend told me to take it easy. If your kitchen staff have long hair (any length that can be tied up or could fall in front of their face) or a beard (anything beyond stubble), then they should be wearing a hair/beard net. Stray hairs can fall into food, which is not only unpleasant but can contaminate foods. If in doubt about whether a member of the team should be wearing a hair net, err on the side of caution. Hope,my advice will help you to keep your staff well to Hygiene. Best wishes

Had to get table cleared to get a seat, ordered food and drinks for 5. Food came out at different times only 5 minutes or so between fry ups and pancakes so not too bad. One set of pancakes was meant to be banana and Nutella but they had no ripe bananas so didn’t put on and the chocolate spread was definitely not Nutella but some cheap alternative. Pancakes were warm and best and fry ups seemed to be lacking temperature. Service was slow / unenthusiastic at best with a apron of young staff spending most the time away from front of house. Also slightly shocked to find a staff member walking around the back and front of house with a caterpillar on her arm and thinking it was funny. Took a while to pay as no staff at front of house. However a sausage bap was one of our order's very dissaponted that £4.75, a sausage had been sliced into 4pieces, a toasted teacake came ready buttered, the butter was of a spread, onto a cold tecacke, butter portions rather than spread would of been better. I tried to get attention, but the lady was on her phone, despite me asking 3 times for attention. Then saw her outside on the phone. Eventually a lady from the kitchen gave me her attention, I was unable to give feedback as the lady didn't come back into the café. Not happy.

Cosy and comfortable tearooms, delicious homely food, and welcoming, friendly staff! Made a wet day in Gloucester far more memorable with a wonderful view of the cathedral from the window seat!

Great service. We telephoned a long order in and were given a collection time. We arrived a little early to collect and the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. They were keen to share top tips
