The restaurant was quite Busy, we were served the staff are lovely, table was clean food is good. This review has nothing to do with that. Getting to the Toilets as a disabled person in a wheelchair is an nightmare, the path is very steep going down then you have to try and open the door or wait for someone to help. Then it's getting in through the door while trying to keep it open if you don't have anyone around to help you . Then you come to the disabled toilet and you have the same problem getting in and out is hard. I have spoken to the manager on duty today and he said he will bring it up at the next meeting with his manager all I can say is I hope so, it's a lovely garden centre but if you are disabled I wouldn't recommend coming to this garden centre unless you can hold your Toiletting needs for the Duration of your visit. The manager has said he's had people complain about the path a lot, but not getting into and out of the toilets, I myself am guiltily of not saying anything before because I'm embarrassed, but today I decided to say something and I'm glad I did. The staff are all lovely nothing is to much trouble, if you are able body it's a fantastic place to visit, and I will miss going. But going down that path today was quite frightening and before anyone Says anything my chair was on the Slowest speed any slower. And I wouldn't have been able to move but I was frightened and thinking. And I was gonna hit the back wall. I really hope this review helps people and the managers Does something .

Have visited in the past, as it was elderly relatives' local garden centre. Plants used to be good quality, although food could be variable, good lunches, but cakes could be dry. Staff not overly friendly. Went recently, was going to grab some supplies and have lunch outside, but couldn't do that as they had changed their policy on dogs so could no longer even go in the outside areas with the dog. Sadly somewhat behind the times, given that most garden centres locally and elsewhere let you in with a dog, a lot even letting you go into the inside areas. Will be a haven for those who don't like dogs, as they are the exception. However, if you're going with your dog try Crownhill Garden Centre - good plants, fantastic cakes, and you can sit under a gazebo with your dog or there is a small indoor area in the coffee shop Endsleigh Garden Centre - large garden centre with a big product range, nice restaurant where you can sit outside under a parasol, or smaller coffee shop that you can sit inside with your dog. Avon Mill Garden Centre - independent garden centre with a nice range of items, large gazebo to grab lunch from their coffee shop.

Four of us went to the restaurant for Sunday lunch. We chose our roast dinners, 3 x lamb, 1 x beef, paid when we ordered, and took our tea and coffee to a table. Shortly after, the meals were brought out by two waitresses. The meals were a generous portion on pipping hot plates, I think I counted 5 vegetables, including roast potatoes. One of us could not finish the main course, but the others pigged out and had a dessert of triffle , cheesecake, and pavlova.

As we entered Otter Garden Centre Plumouth it was clearly busy and we really hoped we could get a table in the restaurant as we were starving. I think it was the busiest we had ever seen it - even with the recently extended seating area. The teams taking orders, pouring drinks and taking payment, were working at a pace, but smiling and clearly enjoying the business. Other cafes take note: The person at the till takes the food and drinks order, putting through the payment. The food order is transmitted to the kitchen and the drinks order passed the the colleage next to her. As the payment is made your tray of drinks is being poured and you are given a large table number. Available tables are clearly indicated by a large sign confirming all has been cleaned. In spite of the restaurant being extremely busy, tables were still available. You remove the table cleaned sign and replace it with your large table number. The hot food was brought to the table within 5 minutes. And in spite of the teams working at full pace, a member stopped at our table (as usual) to ask how our food was. It was excellent. We managed to catch Sue who we understand is the deputy manager for the restaurant. She explained that every team member is trained in every aspect of the job and teams are able to seamlessly change roles as required. It shows. If only other cafes and restaurants could get their act together in this way with happy teams and happy customers. As it is, Sue and her team at Otter Plymouth stand head and shoulders above all the competition and make every single visit an absolute pleasure. 5 stars. Well done!

We ordered jacket potatoes with cheese and chutney, which arrived within 5 minutes of placing our order. The jacket potatoes were cold, so we sent them back to the kitchen. The wait for the replacements was about 10 minutes. We were assured that they had been tested with the heat probe. One, when cut open, looked fresh and creamy white, the other was as off-colour as the skin. One wonders how many hours ago that particular potato was placed in the steamer? Neither was hot enough to melt the cold grated cheese that came with it. We don’t want fast food - we want food that’s freshly cooked, hot and tasty!

We had a lovely visit here last Saturday. Our food was made freshly to order and came out quickly despite the restaurant being very busy; there was a good selection to choose from; generous portions; and the staff were all friendly and polite. We had a walk around afterwards and bought some plants and lots of delicious food as well as a beautiful leather handbag. Sadly, upon reaching the till our visit was ruined by the smell and sight of a dog which had pooped all over the floor. Absolutely disgusting and made us both heave. There are clear signs everywhere saying no dogs allowed - our main reason for visiting as we are sick and tired of being surrounded by dogs everywhere we visit. So why were they allowed in? The management must be prepared to enforce their rules upon these selfish and irresponsible dog owners who think they don't apply to them. We have stopped visiting both Endlseigh and Avon Mill garden centres for that very reason. I doubt we will be returning here now! Such a shame.

Came here for a coffee and snack. They had teacakes on the menu but, when my friend ordered one for me, she was told I couldn’t have one because it wasn’t morning or afternoon! Apparently I could only order from the lunchtime menu, even though this wasn’t made clear on the menu board. So I settled for a mocha which was the worse mocha I’ve had thus far. It tasted like it was made from powder which they’d just added water to, was lukewarm and certainly not worth the price they charged. I feel the cafe has gone downhill in recent months and won’t be visiting there again. A shame as it used to be a lovely place to visit.

We often eat here and find the food is always tasty and good value. I had the Chicken and Bacon Caesar Salad and my partner had the Roasted Vegetable Quiche. These were served with boiled potatoes. Unfortunately, the Caesar Salad (my favourite dish) had changed and quite frankly for the worse. It was ok but not the delightful meal that I expected. The Quiche was ok but only made of egg and roasted veg, lacking any cheese, which made it quite strange to eat. The potatoes served with both dishes were boiled in their skins. They all had black spots and grey patches of flesh we had to cut out. They were really quite poor quality potatoes, again not up to the usual standard. In fact we did not think we had value for money. On the positive side we had a Raspberry and Polenta cake to finish off and that was delightful.

Paid a visit last night for the steak night (Wednesday 25 April) Lovely area set aside in the conservatory. A young man showed us to our table and took our order. What a credit he is to both himself and to Otters. Lovely manners, efficient and attentive, one of the best servers I have had serve me in a long, long time. Without expecting too much, my wife and I ordered sirloin steaks, mine medium rare and hers medium. To my surprise it was cooked how we wanted it. Accompanied by nice fries, a flat mushroom, onion rings and peas, it was all delicious and quite enough to satisfy. Would definitely recommend and pay another visit. TIP: Advisable to book your table.

We hadn't been to Otters since since their refurbishment. We had a warm welcome at the counter - nice to have and we gave in our order. The food was very well presented and the bread was really fresh. Another assistant came by and smilingly asked if everything was okay. A very good experience.

Visited here today and was very dissatisfied. The restaurant has become very expensive - 90p for a piece of thick bread to go with the £4.75 soup and the latte was bearly warm.

Their website was not up to date posting different tines for breakfast. Two young men on till, one failed to give me my ordered cheese scone and both did not know the difference between a baguette and a panini.

Stopped here to have a look at the Christmas trees, so we grabbed a spot of lunch at the same time, we didn’t want anything to big so just went for some sandwiches, we both went for the chicken and bacon mayo filling and a portion of chips, it came out very quickly and was very nicely presented with a small side salad and crisps, I have to say even though it was simple it was a very tasty sandwich, I only have one criticism and that is my mocha could have been a bit hotter.

We had breakfast at Otter nursery today, the restaurant is set out well and nice and clean, staff seemed friendly enough. We ordered the 10 item breakfast and a bacon bap, plus two cups of decaf coffee. Food came out in a reasonable time freshly cooked, well presented and reasonably priced with good quality decaf coffee. Would recommend and return for the breakfast.

Having a quiet drink mine and various other customers peace was shattered when a child started throwing a tantrum which the parents decided to ignore, after a while a gentleman approached the parents and suggested that they could comfort the child instead of ignoring it, at this another customer approached the gentleman in an aggressive manner telling him in so many words to mind his own business. Then two members of staff came out and had words with the gentleman suggesting he was in the wrong by speaking to the parents then having an argument with another customer which was not of his making, Having witnessed this storm in a teacup I feel that the staff were heavy handed in the way they assessed the situation.

I do love visiting Otter Garden Center. Lots to look at. Plants indoor and out door, garden furniture, fishy stuff, plants pots and so on. There is also a good selection of ladies and men's clothes and shoes. The restaurant is great with very good food, well presented and most enjoyable, but would not recommend the American, very weak and tasteless, but everything else I give a five star rating, staff are great and very helpful

Having returned to the restaurant after its refurbishment it was well lit and had a nice feel to it. The specials board had some interesting choices so I opted for the mixed grill baguette and the wife ordered the Chinese chicken curry. Both meals were presented with style and tasted superb. Great to find a eatery that does homemade food and the chefs care about what they produce.

Great late lunch with family, biggest haddock I have ever seen. Had that locally caught ling, calamri and my wife just cheesy chips. All with crispy fresh batter, chips golden but soft inside. Even cheesy chips were top, 1/2 chips, then cheese, more chips and topping of more cheese. All top quality, even the ice cream and with nice pints of Otter, bitter & ale on tap. Great way to end off long walk on the beach. You won’t be disappointed..

I loved this pub. We walked from Salcombe and it was well worth it (don't worry, you can drive there too). It had the feel of a genuine pub with some good beers that happened to do great food also. I had possibly the best burger I have had in a long time and my wife had a fantastic steak sandwich. Both were freshly prepared scratch. They have vegan options too. I notice some negative reviews, mostly due to poor service. We arrived at 12 noon on a weekday in October. Even so, the place was full by the time we left, so it is clearly a popular place. The service we experienced was without fault. I hope our experience is the norm.

We stayed 3 nights, Fri Sat & Sun, very comfortable well furnished room, ensuite, with breakfast (diy) available in little kitchen down the hall. Wonderful old world inn, great bar, and bar food til 8.30 (lunchtime til 5 on Sunday, no evening meal). Very friendly and helpful staff, and wonderful location in the wilds of Dartmoor.
