Very friendly staff who took a lot of trouble to ensure I was well catered for despite my gluten allergy. The food was very good too, with large portions. We would go again.

Lovely atmosphere and tasty food! We stayed at the hotel as guests and had dinner and breakfast here. Agree that if seafood isn't your thing, their menu is limited. The duck was lovely and the haddock and chips, for a reasonable price. Breakfast was tasty, was a bit surprised though that it was £10 for cooked breakfast when we had paid for bed and breakfast, but that just covered continental. The waiter both times (think he recently got married he said) was really friendly. Would recommend.

We arrived a had to go and find someone to take us to our table, we were stood waiting at the door while staff stood around chatting. We went 5pm on a Sunday and were given a bar menu, not the Sunday menu or full menu like we expected. We waited over 40 minutes for our food and it was average at best. Really disappointed as we were recommended to come for the Sunday roast and it was dead, lacked atmosphere, terrible service and poor food.

You need an inclusive menu. If potential customers don't like fish, they should not book an evening here. The non fish offering is beyond limited, even the chicken has lobster sauce and prawns! So as I love fish it was fine, but for my wife.... a vegetarian option, duck or a cheaper cut of steak... was all that was available, simply poor. Also for £345 b&b you don't get a hot breakfast.... other than those two show stoppers, the room was lovely and the service excellent.... sadly if we go back we'll get room only and eat in the town...

We have always been very happy dining at The Jetty in Salcombe plus other 'Jetty's on our travels. This time was no different. Despite some mediocre online reviews we had a brilliant experience - good food and great service plus amazing views of the estuary. The cheese soufflé starter was amazing. For mains we had Fish & Chips - quite pricey but worth it. Fish was perfect and the fries were just divine.

On arrival we were left stood at the door waiting to be seated a good 5 mins whilst staff were plentiful and busy chatting at the bar. We had booked in for a cream tea, u fortunately a mix up with my booking but we were reluctantly took to our table we placed our orders and it took 40mins to serve our scones. Tea almost finished by the time the scones arrived. Scones were delicious. A large wedding group was located in the same room and then their entertainment started playing. This was supposed to be a lovely family afternoon to have a chat together over a cream tea. But we couldn’t hear ourselves over the wedding party and their entertainment. It would have been nice if we had been made aware of this at the time of booking. Maybe the venue should decide to host a wedding or customers for a cream tea. But not both together in the same space as I don’t think it’s fair on either parties

Arrived for a drink - waited at the entrance for about 5 mins whilst about 6 members of staff just chatted at the bar. When finally approached we went to the lounge to sit and look at drinks menu. No one came after 15 minutes so we had to go to the bar ourselves to order. No apology. Once finished no one came to take another order of bill so we went to bar and paid. Awful service for what is supposed to be a 5 * hotel. The bar and restaurant was not busy and waiters standing around chatting. Would not return.

very average, not what it makes itself out to be online. We took our dog and was told on arrival that we hadn't put in the notes that we where going to bring our dog. I had and had email confirmation of the booking with the notes clearly in there. we were sat outside because of the dog (we expected this) and where told that someone would be out to take our order. Which they did after 15 minutes after my husband went in to place the order. we also had this weird thing where the resturant called me to ask us uf we were coming as we hadn't turned up when we where literally sat there. the food was good and came out quickly. We then sat there for another hour, nobody came to clear the table, offer us desert menu or check if we wanted more drinks, all of which we would have had. I then went in to pay the bill a little while later because nobody was coming to take it, i stood at the bar and was ignored, I had to catch a waiter on the way back from clearing a table to ask him to pay. the resturant was busy, but no where near full so there wasn't really any excuse. It was just a bit of a let down really compared to what it should and is trying to be.

Nice restaurant with panoramic view of the Kingsbridge estuary to the south. This hotel somewhat lets itself down by blatantly advertising ‘walk-in’s and large groups welcome’ to passers-by at street level. You risk eating alongside a stag party! The service is good with polite staff. The menu and specials will please most but not all. In keeping with its location, sea food is prominent but if you fancy a fillet steak you’ll be out of luck. The food itself is acceptable but no more. My dressed crab main course consisted mostly of fish paste with a token filling of crab meat. Prices are high and not what I would consider value for money. One pet hate is the hotel already adding a service charge to the bill which you have to ask to be removed, should you wish. I’ve been to this hotel many times over decades and I believe it’s suffering from customers being squeezed by the cost of living. It’s regatta week here yet the restaurant was barely half full. The external walls of the building are in a poor condition and it desperately needs an overhaul and refresh. It remains a reasonable place to eat but you might consider The Victoria Inn just down the road. The food is excellent and great value for money. I have no connection or allegiance to any hotels or restaurants in Salcombe.

This hotel restaurant has a great location and interior decor. Food was really tasty, cheese soufflé was light and flavoursome, and the honeycomb panacotta was stunning both taste wise and visually. Where the restaurant was let down was the haphazard service. Instead of having a 'dedicated server' we had a different person each time. Our sides were forgotten. Whilst trying to pay the bill... Eventually I gave up waiting for a card reader and just left the money as I was keen to leave the same day I arrived at the restaurant.

Absolutely brilliant. For a start the restaurant is really nicely decorated. The staff are helpful and welcoming. The food is exceptional. There was nothing I would change about my scallop starter, plaice main, or sticky toffee pudding dessert. It was all brilliant. The Kir Royales we had beforehand were lovely as well (the bar area is really nice). The meal was paced perfectly and was not overpriced for that level of food. Let’s hope they keep it up and we’ll be back!

…at last, Salcombe has a properly good restaurant. The interior of Salcombe Harbour Hotel has always been stylish, but the food offering has been somewhat hit and miss for years. Today I went for my birthday because my daughter had been seeing some good reviews on TA and the menu looked promising. I have to say that the food tonight was nothing short of exceptional. The cheese soufflé starter (taken with optional smoked haddock) was definitely the best I have had. The whole plaice with beurre blanc and fries was just the sort of dish you want when by the sea; the ingredients shone through with the cooking delicate and skilful. The fish was a very good size, no dab passed off as plaice here, and the greens and fries perfectly seasoned. I was hesitant to have dessert in case it disappointed because I had enjoyed my first two courses so much. Anyway, greed got the better of me and I’m very glad it did as the panna cotta with sorbet and berries was exquisite. This is the sort of food in the sort of environment that Salcombe has been crying out for for years, and the service was also friendly and professional. Expect it to be busy in high season if it maintains this quality, and so it should be. Great job by the whole team.

The restaurant has a very nice atmosphere when busy. service team worked well. The food however is really no where near the prices they are charging. Prawn popcorn - do not order this its very expensive for a shell with a few fried bits that resemble prawns. I would actually take this off the menu the beef, which was priced at £31 had the texture of a used boot, presented terribly, i did not finish this, ive not had beef presented that way and cooked to the point of no texture, the potato that it came with was uncooked in the middle. I do not recommend the food at its current price and quality. a very basic menu with a top tier price tag. the staff were friendly and on the ball during our meal, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming.

Very disappointed with our Wedding Anniversary meal! The starters were ‘ok’ as were the desserts but the main courses were very poor. My wife’s hake (what there was of it) was very dry and my ‘surf and turf’ was, quite frankly, a joke for £55! The scallops (there was one, extremely small and tasteless) and prawns adorned a rather small tough and chewy sirloin steak which I actually could not completely eat. The frites which were served with it looked as if they had come from McDonalds, except the McDonald’s ones would probably have been better in terms of quantity and quality! We did get a small ‘token’ reduction after I complained but the bill still came to just short of £200 in the end! We will most definitely not be returning and would definitely not recommend anyone else to dine there either!

However, the food was not what we expected. Whilst the sashimi platter was lovely, the tiger prawns were overcooked, the seafood curry was bland and the “seasoned” vegetables were definitely not seasoned. In fact, there were a few on our plate that were brown, so had gone off before they were cooked and served. One member of staff was lovely. The rest seemed to be rushed and didn’t care too much about whether we ate or not. If you were to come here solely for the food, I would advise against this.

The cheese souffle was not edible and was just a plate of congealed cheese with was still bubbling as it was served. I ordered the chicken for main which came with a side of 'truffle mac and cheese'. While the chicken was nice (nothing ground breaking) the mac and cheese was terrible. Our waiter was very apologetic and nice enough to substitute it for some chips which was appreciated but not really what I was looking for. Had dinner in the Jetty Restaurant whilst staying at the hotel. Food was really excellent - the skate and the bream were lovely and cooked to perfection, as indeed were all the courses we had (fish soup to start and rhubarb desserts). Service was excellent with a friendly and efficient waiter (one of our breakfasts in the restaurant was very slow but we think that waiter was new as our other breakfast was fine). Cost was actually less than we expected for this type of hotel and was on a par with other restaurants in the area. Setting is beautiful with estuary views. Covid precautions are taken seriously. Thoroughly recommend it.

My wife and I treated our daughter and 2 grandchildren to a meal here on 17th may, arrived 5.30pm but was seated and left,, 45 mins later we asked for a drink and a menu,, despite being one of only 5 tables in use at the time and plenty of staff standing around, then it went even worse, wrong drinks, food order being all over the place I.e. wrong items etc the children's drinks were 5 months out of date,, the list went on, we managed to get the manager over who was very apologetic and went out of his way to see we were then looked after and everything then went a lot better, so I would like to thank him for this otherwise it would of been a disaster, by the way the food when we did get it was delicious... but due to the horrendous first hour it's a 3 from us

We had an evening meal last Sunday, with which we had a couple of small issues, but these were handled professionally and the service from all staff was exemplary. Adam (front of house/restaurant manager) was fantastic and really looked after us. We returned for lunch/afternoon tea for my birthday today and the food was fantastic! We had a couple of tempura prawns each with sweet chill dip - big juicy prawns in a lovely light batter. We then had the champagne afternoon tea which was amazing. The sandwiches, cakes and freshly baked scones with jam and cream were all delicious. The cakes were so tasty - a little lemon meringue tart, coffee cake, rhubarb panacotta, and pineapple cake. All beautiful and homemade by their talented pastry chef. The tea was very good too. We were very pampered and spent a leisurely couple of hours enjoying our indulgent birthday treat! The location is stunning, even in the rain, and the staff are so friendly. I would like to say thank you to Adam, Alex, Lestari and Tom who went above and beyond to make my birthday a very special day. Thank you! Helen and Jon. XX

Varied menu with great choice of fresh fish. Friendly and attentive staff who looked after us really well considering it was the first week back after lockdown. A real treat.

The welcome included a thermometer poked at your forehead but if this was meant to reassure, it didn't. The tables close to us were only 1m apart and the restaurant was very full. All three courses were really good but sides are needed as mains comes with nothing extra at all. There was a good choice on the menu. The wait between courses was just about right but the service was rushed. A full restaurant meant the waiting staff were zipping about to the point of being rather slapdash. The drinks we ordered were wrong but the waiter disappeared before we had time to say anything. We will eat here again as we really enjoyed the food but will avoid a busy night when hopefully we will not be sitting uncomfortably close to our neighbours.

Lunch date. Reception quite rude when we said yes we had parked in their car park - there was no signs to say that we couldn’t park there as eating in their restaurant and we were forced to move the car which then made us late for our table. There are some bays close to the entrance that day reserved for residents and are blocked off but not higher up on the hill where we had parked. The restaurant was under a quarter full and the tables being used were all close together so not socially distancing as well as they could. Service was quite slow but the waitress was friendly and helpful. Duck terrine was nice, could’ve done with a little bit of bread, crab/avocado on toast was lovely but lots of shell in it. Chicken with prawn in lobster bisque was very tasty. Quite a shock when we received the bill. Not only were we charged VAT on the discretionary service charge the rate of VAT was incorrectly calculated and higher than the current rate. Quite a disappointment.

We ate here during our stay at the hotel. The portions are quite generous so be warned. The fish and chips and prawn cocktail are very good. I also had a really excellent fillet steak. The wine is quite expensive but you can order by the glass. Very nice staff make you feel welcome and well cared for.

We’d been here before but years ago...and that time we had a crab sandwich, so this time was a repeat! Very tasty crab, fab fries all washed down with a cool peroni. In late September the weather was gorgeous and so sheltered on their terrace, outside we had coats on, here we were sat in just a T-shirt.

A much anticipated family celebration. The restaurant, but particularly the staff, were less than attentive. We were left at the entrance for some time before being acknowledged. The service was a bit take it or leave it. Two of our starters (Caprese Salad) were really disappointing. Drinks were very slow to be refreshed. One of the Mains (Chicken Thai Curry) was disappointing. Not a good first visit.

As advertised they possibly do have the best dining view in the whole of Salcombe, service was very good (something quite rare we found in Salcombe), food and wine was wonderful. If you choose to stay or dine in salcombe I wouldn't hesitate to recommend to eat here. Sadly due to the feel of the town and the parking difficulties whilst I had a really good night here its not somewhere I will be returning.

We stayed in Salcombe for a week and ate at the Jetty twice during this time Firstly for lunch which we ate outside in the sunshine and the second time dinner inside, which was full.On both occasions the food was excellent, but even more important was the excellent service from the staff which included a little complimentary desert for our wedding anniversary.Hats off to all of the team and the management, keep up the great work.

I had 2 breakfasts and 2 dinners here during my stay at Salcombe Harbour Hotel. Really good food, fabulous view and ambience in the restaurant. The service was a little slow at very busy times but Peter should be called out for exceptional service. Very professional, anticipating what was needed but warm and friendly too. Would recommend this restaurant and I will be back.

It’s been quite a while since I’ve eaten here as a customer, and it was as delightful as I remember. Excellent service from Luke & team, an excellent menu and a great vibe in the dining area made up for it. All four of our meals were first class and it was a joy to return. Great to see that while things may have changed quite a bit in Salcombe, the King’s Arms is as good as ever!

Had lunch here today with a friend, used to visit a few years ago but then moved out of the area… firstly the welcome and service were both excellent… the scallop dish with toasted sourdough was the star of my lunch… the herby, garlicky sauce was beautiful… I wish I’d ordered another portion for my main course.. please ask the chef to never change this dish 💕
