Lovely 50s style diner in Dartmoor! Great service, the fish and chips were very good.

Just been for breakfast with my family down from Bristol for the day. Can’t fault the breakfast well done. Not been here for a few yrs but will definitely be back.

Excellent food made with lots of care. Burgers were great and moussaka which I only just found out was vege was the best I’ve tasted if slightly salty. The lamb roast was excellent. Overall very happy and will return. You must come here. The decor is a bit dated and could be updated but the food and the fact it was full speaks volumes. Happy happy customers.

Yesterday we had lunch at The Dartmoor Diner. Three of us, accompanied by my Guide Dog. Two All Day Breakfasts, and Egg & Chips, with tea all round. Delicious, and extremely good value for money. What really made the experience special for me though, was the reaction, and attitude towards my Guide Dog and I. It’s sadly rare to be treated with such tact and respect. You placed us on a table with plenty of room for a large Labrador to lie underneath in comfort, completely ignored the dog, and the gentleman who waited on us very calmly told me whenever and wherever he was putting something on the table. Things like this make such a difference. Thank you, we will be back.

Never again. The waitress there was so rude when I politely asked where my tea was after a wait. Then she came back and was rude again! Sorry, but very poor form and I'll never go back.

Great little diner off the main road. Excellent fish & chips. The carvery looked good as well.

Once again we were very satisfied with our visit. Being Mother's day it was busy which gave a great vibe when we walked in and were greeted by staff. We sat upstairs for the first time and the view was breathtaking. The service was 100% from the very cheery staff. The food was well cooked, fresh and plentiful. Desert, my choice of rhubarb and apple crumble with custard certainly did not disappoint. Thank you and see you soon.

Would rate it 0 stars if possible. Food was terrible and service was even worse. Would suggest you don’t eat here.

Excellent quality of food and service roast chicken was excellent with good quality fresh vegetables

The food was excellent, however I was left standing by the door before I was seated. A simple I'll be with you in a minute would have gone a long way.

Yummy all day breakfast, only downfall was the sausages but everything else was spot on. Will be back. Friendly staff and very clean.

Good food, they forgot a coffee off the order and chatted really loudly by the front desk struggled to hear it own conversation. However I would go again.

Wait times far too long, when food arrived we had to get our own cutlery, no one came to clean the table after previous customers. Asked if we could order told yes will be right with you that was 15 minutes ago. Food quick to arrive, service very slow Miusaka very salty. Kids enjoyed their meals & great that their meals were £1 thank you for this. Not sure we will be back again

Always nice in this resto dartmoor diner is best staff and reasonable price as we been there last wenesday we going again in wenesday valentine treat ahh wishing only the soup could be change to tomato or ministronie not the potato leek haha well just get away from soup for us other people like it

Proper cafe. Genuinely good service, warm and professional. We had a coffee and pot of tea, with just a few items off the cooked breakfast menu, all well prepared and good quality. Solid choice for a cuppa and bite to eat! We'll be back

Overpriced greasy breakfast consisting of small fried egg, one slice of toast, 2 sausages, 2 bacon. Friend and I had a breakfast a hot drink for total of £23.10

Arrived hoping for coffee and scones at 2pm. Server pointed us to the general area to sit. Huffed when we didn't want a meal. No scones. Only 1 teacake and that wasn't fresh. Cake was OK but sickly sweet. Flat white coffee? More like tepid milk. So weak. No froth. Was there any actual coffee in it? It was served to me slopped over the saucer. I asked for a napkin to mop it up and waiter brought some and slapped them on to the table. Have passed this establishment several times and car park was busy so had high hopes. Appalling service, food and attitude. As I paid, the tips beermug was pushed towards me. Really!!

We have eaten in the Devon Diner many times and it never dissappoints. Food is certainly value for money and service is always friendly and efficient.

Hi, had a Turkey roast at the Dartmoor Cafe today, won't have a roast there again. Turkey was grainy with crispy edges. Brussels sprouts, small and plentiful but extremely hard. Root mash was lumpy. Carrots were passable. Stuffing was definitely under cooked. Gravy was ok, just. All in all I wish I had the breakfast.

Consistently the best roast in Plymouth, been visiting over many years and never had a bad meal. From Mr Andrew to now Hassan the food is proper home cooked and plentiful.

We have been to the Dartmoor Diner many times and are never disappointed. Large selection of food and I dare you to ignore the very tempting selection of cakes!

Wentbfor a Sunday dinner. Decent food, well cooked meat, the staff are all nice, Rather busy at 3 on a Sunday but we were sat promptly and served. Its a carvery style thing which I am not a fan of but no need to queue like my last experience of a carvery.. The car park is rough but plenty of space, just go easy. it's a good stop right near dartmoor.

Tje service was fantastic it was extremely busy but the lovely lady who served us couldn't do enough for us and the cakes are amazing will definitely go back 😍 We took out cakes home with us which was really nice 👌

Came here a few years ago and had a breakfast and it was lovely. So thought we would visit again. We had two breakfasts. One with poached eggs, one of the eggs was over done and the other undercooked and full of water. I wouldn't even feed the sausages to my dog. They were cheap and nasty. I understand businesses are struggling and have to cut costs, but the quality of the produce wasn't up to scratch

Bit quiet but excellent breakfast.

Went to get a take away carvery, as my previous experience was positive. This week, i wasn’t able to choose my own foods, instead it was taken into the kitchen for the staff to prepare. Quite disappointed as half of the foods in the tray, were items I didn’t like. The man preparing the meats was quite intense when insisting the meal be prepared in the kitchen and due to my anxiety I didn’t understand what he meant, so I agreed. This was disappointing since I then watched multiple people who were eating within the restaurant, choose their own foods. I also watched the kitchen staff microwave the food before packing it up for me 😅 The potatoes were very salty and the parsnips were hard, very disappointing considering how positive my experience was previously. Don’t think I’ll return as this visit heightened my anxiety significantly and the food wasn’t up to expectations. Service 3* as the only person who made the visit great, was the man who took my payment.

Over the years i have driven past so many times and had the chance to stop today.firstly i ordered a coffee just to sit outside with dogs. The coffee never appeared.meanwhile some louts arrived and sat outside.one was obviously stoned and there was a smell of illegal substances. My coffee never arrived so i went in. They had forgotten.i ended up with a takeout.i reported the louts to staff. Yuk it was like a greasy spoon. Traffic roaring past.the coffee was the most expensive i have ever had.

When turning up there was a car blocking the disabled parking space, Only to find out it was one of the workers, Food over priced they state that it is locally sourced, The sausage was more like Richmond skinless, Bacon under cooked, the mushrooms were boiled to death then fried no taste, the toast was dry and cold, we had to wait over 27 minutes for our food,

A great place to stop off and feed - not fine-dining but good basic food with a good menu

Service was good but spoiled a little by the watery tasting coffee. Cake selection was excellent and well pleased by the child's hot chocolate.

We stopped here for some breakfast ahead of a 4 hour drive home. My son had a bacon sandwich that he really enjoyed, my partner had a big breakfast and was impressed with the quality of the fried bread and I had a halloumi and egg baguette with added bacon. All meals were delicious and served in a timely manner. Drinks were prepared well (my frappe was delicious!) And staff were welcoming, attentive and very friendly. Only issue we had was that the bacon fat is quite thick and undercooked which resulted in me choking after a partial swallow. However cannot fault the establishment and would happily return again. Lovely road side diner proven by the high footfall and multiple bookings made during our visit!

Great place in a great location and food was decent, although it wasn’t nice seeing one of the cooks walk around with his bum hanging out under his apron. Not even exaggerating we could see almost his entire bum! But other than that great place and friendly staff.

One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and I’ve had a lot. We ate outside in the garden because we love the sound of traffic and had a dog with us but said friendly dogs welcome so I assume that’s inside too. Definitely go there more often

Love coming here for a nice all day breakfast prior to flying out anywhere. Don't really need to eat for the rest of the day afterwards

Popped in here after a dog walk, just had a coffee and some toast, so can't really comment on the food. The service however was really good. This place is really popular so you need to get here early to be sure of a table.

Just popped in for a quick bit of breakfast- I just had fried eggs on toast and my wife a bacon sandwich - I’ll get to the food in a mo firstly I need to address the flies - we were sat at table 4 and there must have been a dozen flies buzzing around this section of the cafe especially around the coffee machine and the overhead fan and not nice whilst you’re trying to eat - you seriously need to address this issue - next the food - the bacon was undercooked and if it were a fillet of beef I would class it as rare not very appealing when it”s thick sliced and the fat along the edge was white and undercooked - the eggs were fine however the “chef” obviously doesn’t know how to butter a slice of toast to the edges - a blob of Marge in the middle was as far as it went - wont be returning- you’ve obviously got a little gold mine there looking at the number of customers coming in the door but if you want to keep their custom then pull your finger out

Used to love this place, but gone downhill recently. Ordered bacon sandwich which came out on really thin cheap bread, fatty bacon. Very disappointed. Had cake for dessert, usually amazing, but were bland & not much flavour. The service was rubbish,had to keep asking for drink, menu, to pay!!! I've heard a few people say it's not as good anymore, which I didn't want to believe as I'm usually a fan & love this place , but I have to agree, it was really disappointing & I won't go back for breakfast again.

Service was poor. Very very dated old and smelt bad. Was not happy eating there but I did Not choose the place!

A great place to meet friends for whatever kind of food you’re after from coffee, breakfast and Sunday lunches. Excellent service, very quick by a very small team of staff. The complaint made by someone else on here complaining about the service, I would completely disagree. It couldn’t have been better. All food is freshly cooked, with very good prices and lots of free parking. If you’re going after 10am I suspect you will need to book a table, particularly for Sunday lunch.

Tasty, piping hot, good portion sizes. Veggie moussaka & hunters chicken just right. Friendly & efficient service. Pity we couldn't stay for the delicious-looking cakes.

When we arrived took time to be seen too. Greeted by a nice man eventually who I gathered was the owner/manager . Breackfast and tea arrived promptly. Didnt clear our plates until we left. When we went to pay we were stood there for around 5 mins getting ignored by all staff. Had to ask to pay and then got told we had to wait 5 mins by a staff member who did t seem to be doing much apart from tidying drawers. When asked another member she said she didn’t know how ti take payment. What happened to the customer comes first. Without us you wouldn’t have a business or a job. Unfortunately because of this we will not be returning. I know the world of short short staffed but there’s no excuse for bad manners & poor staff who dosnt acknowledge their customers.

Family birthday meal booked in advance so as to secure a table at lunchtime. We were allowed to bring our dogs. Moussaka dishes were very nice. Steak pie was not as good for me as vegetables were over cooked for my taste. Burger was I'm told a bit average. Decor fun and place had character. Website gave accurate menu options and good range to choose from.

Stopped in on the Dartmoor Diner on the off-chance as we were out and needed somewhere for lunch. Last visited years ago and didn’t know what to expect, but had always seen the car park busy, and took this as a good omen. The staff were very friendly, polite and courteous. We both had the roast pork as a daily special. (almost too cheaply priced on comparison to the rest of the menu at £8:50). The whole meal was cooked to perfection, the mashed swede was very nicely seasoned, pork was tasty and tender. The overall meal size was decent and filling. Couldn’t fault it at all. The dessert choice was very extensive and a hard one to make a choice (in the end I went for toffee cream & chocolate toffee balls pavlova). Again extremely nice. I will definitely have to find time to sample the rest of the menu👍

This diner was the perfect place for a quiet visit with my mother who has dementia. They gave us a quieter table which was perfect for our midweek lunch. The staff were excited to have identified that they could offer vegan milkshakes and pointed this out when I ordered a vegan burger. It was nice that they were paying close attention. The food was freshly cooked and tasty. The menu has lots of British favourites.

We hadn't visited much recently due to Covid etc so we were excited to go back for a late lunch. We couldn't believe how quiet it was for a Saturday afternoon but then when food arrived we had to send back 2 plates because of quality control ( undercooked and microwave burnt items) . The deserts were amazing as always so I think we'll return again for a coffee & cake but we wouldn't order hot food.

Very convenient location on the edge of the moors, plenty of parking. Good food and really lovely friendly staff. Little garden as well if the weather is nice. The garden is by the road but it's a convenient location so you can't have it all ways!

My son had turkey roast, but the meat was slimy and red. They did offer more, but he was already put off by then. Our other meals were very nice.

Not bad but kind of just deep fried stuff and prepared roast dinners. I asked for a straw and they gave me something that looks like the exhaust of a boy racers car! ( Well, more like a milkshake straw rather than the drinking straw) Friendly and nice staff kept everything pleasant

I went to Dartmoor Diner on a Saturday afternoon the time was 4,20 pm and to my surprise they were not serving meals , because they had closed the kitchen

Myself and my partner popped in for a lovely brunch. The lady who greeted us as we entered was lovely, the food was delicious as we're the drinks. It's a lovely sweet little diner perfect for that quiet meal in a lovely setting. Very impressed
