Country pub with all the expected vibe. Cosy in the winter, large sunny garden for the summer and the food is honest pub food.

Quirky little pub on a very narrow back lane with some parking facing & definitely somewhere the locals seem to frequent ( I was taken there by a relative who knows the area otherwise you probably wouldn't find it) It's kind of back to front as it feels like your going in the back way up some steps and that's it there is only one way in its not a big place.... on this occasion I can't comment on the ale as I was driving & only had a Shandy

This is a fantastic pub set in a beautiful village on the edge of Dartmoor. It is extremely welcoming to both visitors and locals. The Landlord Dave is very friendly to all. Whenever we are in the area a visit is a must. Having been made aware of his steak night last Saturday (13/4/21), we travelled up from SE Cornwall. There was a choice of Rump or Fillet. Both were exceptional. My wife chasing Rump as I had Fillet. They were accompanied with a choice of sauces. Compliments to the Chef. We would thoroughly recommend the pub and their food. Service was excellent from Dave's small team. We look forward to his next 'Theme' night. I am only disappointed that I missed the recent Fish night.

Well having spent most of the afternoon on the moor we were looking for a small and intimate pub to drink a pint in. I would say that appearances deceive, there was a lot of understated refinement here. Attention to detail was lovely, really great alternative bar snacks and plenty of proper ale (if that’s your poison) would definitely come back. Dog friendly, just a general chilled ambience. Parking area is small but we parked behind someone and just let them know at the bar to avoid issue. Would definitely go again not just for rehydrating after supporting our right to roam

Lovely village pub. A hidden gem. Beautiful views over unspoilt countryside whilst you eat traditional pub grub. The food is amazing, especially the pizzas and so reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly making for a cosy homely atmosphere. The beer garden at the rear is now open and makes for a relaxing space to enjoy a pint and a pizza with amazing views and allows the pub to host some great local bands.

Great little pub that my cousin took me to. It took us a while to get there but it was well worth it. Had a nice pint of Black Tor IPA. Lovely friendly atmosphere. Great views out of the windows Parking is limited. My understanding is this pub was closed but was reopened by the community. You're doing a great job !

Really good village pub. Nice to see it open again at long last... and judging by the number of locals popping in, much needed.

Can only comment on the takeaway service (thanks Corona!) but recently had a Mountain Burger and it was incredible!! Service was quick and friendly. The way in which is was presented and packaged was great and convenient and I now can't wait until lockdown lifts so I can eat AND drink here.

It's not open and looks like it hasn't traded for a while. This was a lovely little pub on the edge of its village and of Dartmoor. Might be a perfect size and position for a micropub.

Lovely friendly village pub. We stopped for a drink on way back from walk to the beach while staying at Leonards cove ( family 6 adults, 3 children, a baby, and 2 dogs) Very welcoming and dog friendly. We only stopped for refreshment and sat outside but next time would like to try the food.

We stayed in Kingwear for a week, visiting Dartmouth and the surrounding area most days. This was the best meal out we had for the whole week. Lovely friendly staff, good service and truly yummy food

So disappointed with our visit to the Crabshell Inn last night. Having been on quite a few occasions over the years we greatly appreciated the wonderful food, hospitality and ambiance we’d experienced previously. Unfortunately we’ve never felt more unwelcome in any other restaurant, I wanted to leave and should’ve… We were sat near a large open door upstairs in the restaurant near the kitchen, we could feel the gusts of cold wind around our legs immediately and asked if we could relocate to any available table. I was told rudely by the first waitress none were available and the lack of customer care was evident. My husband wanted to stay and we asked the next waitress if it was possible to relocate to a table downstairs, she was much more approachable and understanding and offered to ask her manager and get her to discuss with us… Manager didn’t appear and our food order was being taken, so I re asked about a table out of the wind, she apologised and went off to get the manager again. A man appeared and confirmed that they was no table available but he’d put the heat on and would keep the door closed in between obviously needing to use it… it was at this point I realised it was empty words and zero customer care / respect, as the manager then proceeded to go out of the door, empty handed and leave the door wide open! (You couldn’t make it up! It told us…. Abysmal service and care from what used to be an amazing restaurant) We ate and left watching numerous wait staff leave the door wide open with empty hands. Such a shame as the food was a high standard, everything tasted as good as we’d experienced in years previously. It was clear to us it’s a restaurant for local people. There should be some indication the only table left is going to experience cold gusts of wind and be extremely fresh! We would’ve chosen a different restaurant to enjoy food and relax in. So choose your table wisely if you wish to eat in the Crabshell, the manager had no intention of making our experience and evening with them comfortable. No blanket was offered and numerous encounters with either rude or unfriendly, unhelpful manager.

Tailored a walk on the SWCP (Coast Path) from Jennycliff to visit this place, and it was well worth the effort! Beautiful venue, decked out for Xmas, and really welcoming on arrival! It was only a quick visit before walking back, so my mate and I only went for a light bite BLT ciabatta with a pint! Great menu, reasonably priced. Service was exceptional from the front of house, Luke. Great banter and chats, as we ate at the bar. 👌 This place has a lovely warm feel to it, and I'll definitely be back and bring the Mrs for a lovely meal. 🙏 Cheers, Team!
