The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Small family dinner post Storm Daraggh (sic) on a Monday evening. Never been before but really impressed. Nice menu, nice attentive staff and a great meal. We shall be back. Best pub meal I’ve had since moving down here 4 years ago !

Really tasty main and dessert! Service was great throughout the meal, really attentive! All together a really great meal!

Cold coffee and breakfast ! Not hard to make a decent hot coffe - Jan 6th am ! Hollandaise sauce ice cold Ciabatta - was like it was toasted last night and ice cold Really not on and very angry and there is so little love for somethings so simple

Gorgeous impromptu lunch. Lovely flavoursome and fresh food. Very nice staff, great wine by the glass. Would definitely recommend.

i never leave reviews but ive also never been made so uncomfortable by staff in my life. I ordered an iced flat white as i’m lactose intolerant and don’t really want a pint glass of oat milk, which was meant to be £3.90. I later discovered i was charged £4.25 which is how much they charge for their enormous iced lattes which just isn’t what i ordered. when i asked about this everyone just seemed to confused?? i went downstairs only to be confronted by like 3 women, one in particular who spoke to me like i was an idiot saying they charged me more since i got more milk in my iced drink than a regular flat white. I work in a cafe, i have never once charged someone more for an iced flat white because they’re getting significantly less than any other iced drink. it was so embarrassing and i left feeling like a moron. the way it also just isn’t that deep lol like imagine beefing over 35p when you work at a chain restaurant, girl your big boss is gonna pocket that money i don’t understand why you had to be so rude about it? you’re still getting paid at the end of the day. anyways, won’t be back :p

Mixed bag here (and in all Lounges). I was disappointed by the tiny side of chips which was served in a ramekin dish! The salt and pepper squid was excellent. The staff were brilliant but your venues are sooo noisy!

First time in this area of Bristol and so glad we chose to try this pub. The Ostrich was nice and Christmassy, the Sunday roast was delicious and an affordable price, and service was fantastic - efficient but not rushed, and a great atmosphere.

Wonderful place to stay, nothing like your typical hotel !

Went tonight for my nans birthday meal. Spent almost £30 on a T-bone steak which was over cooked. Didn’t bother complaining at the time as I was hungry and it was edible. Staff forgot to add our last round of drinks to our bill and we hadn’t realised, waitress grabbed our bill off the table and said are your last drinks on there? We said we hadn’t checked, she made us feel like thieves even though it was their mistake! Everybody else’s food was ok… but so over priced and has had the same menu for years so getting rather boring.

Went here today for our Christmas dinner at this establishment. What a mistake, food was vertually inedible , I personally thought it was the wirst meal I have had at a restaurant. The famine meal was dried out after being left out under lights. The vegetables were all dried out. The time between coarses was long. Some customers were eating there puddings as we got our mains. To cap it all at 2.00pm the manageress came over and said we have to move as the table was required by other customers. Bearing in mind we never got our puddings until 1.45 pm. Very disappointed is to put it mildly

I go here for the quiz. Wednesday nights. It's great fun and the quizmaster Luca, is very good in his role. However, the extraneous "extra" rounds and subjective additional point awarding seems a little... off.

What's happened to this place? Been here many times but today was awful. I booked a table for two and there was a bit of confusion where to sit us, once seated we were waiting ten minutes for our drinks (which initially went to the wrong table) were told our food orders would be taken separately, which they were around ten minutes later. We got our food 50 minutes after arriving. It was luke warm and the chips were hard and dry, the 'gammon' was little more than a slice of bacon, the chicken breast was small and dry. We left half of our meal. When asked if everything was ok I said the food wasn't as it should be, the waitress reported back to the manager who offered a free drink, but we declined as we had to leave (given that we had already been kept waiting). I paid £35 for two soft drinks and two main meals which were all but inedible. The waitress was lovely and apologetic which stopped me taking it further. So disappointed with the visit, I have been ripped off. Maybe it was an off day, but I don't think I will be returning anytime soon, and certainly not for food.

Used to come in here alot and enjoyed thier toasted sandwiches with a bit of salad. Came in today to have a cardboard cup of coffee and a bag with my toastie in ?? If I wanted my sandwich in a bag with no salad I'd have gotten a takeaway. Another customer lost I'm afraid....no fresh food, everything served in a bag...we will go somewhere else that serves food on a plate at the table next time

What can I say another amazing time staff very friendly good food carvery good too 😋 we will book again soon & dog 🐕 friendly

Had a pleasant meal of burger and chips whilst my wife had vegetable risotto. Food was good quality, bar staff were helpful and friendly and food was quick, hot and tasty 😋
