Great place to go in paignton for a drink and a game of pool, would recommend 5*

Took my son in to try tye interactive darts that was on offer at a reasonable £20 for 1 hour play along with a drink ,the drink I had to take back as have never tasted a worse pint of.lager in my life which genuinely made me feel ill ,as for the darts to say the boards they had on offer would make the ones they have at a funfair look pdc standard in comparison would be a understatement ,darts would not stay In the interactive board or the other 2 boards they have ,I can only say guy at the bar was friendly and gave refund

Great family activity to do on a 🌧️ day. Very reasonable prices 👍 Plenty of different activities from Crazy Golf, Pool,Darts. The staff are very friendly and helpful. A little gem if you're looking to entertain children of all ages 😊

We came here in the Easter holidays was amazing I’d recommend if you love doing mini golf !! Oh and get yourself a cocktail too!

Waited about 15 minutes for the Barman to serve 2 customers, it was literally like watching someone in slow motion I’ve never seen anything like it. Pint tasted sour, lines need cleaning.

Did the street golf and other activities, highly recommend and the bartender Kieran was a legend 👌

Was more of a nightclub on a Saturday night open till 3am. The music was not great but would play some requests if you asked. Reasonably priced , staff and other customers seemed fine.

Awful. The fish was soggy and chips rock hard, the restaurant was completely empty but for us, but service was still poor. It also cost an arm and a leg.

We came to Devon for a weekend break and we ordered on just eat. The food was delicious, thank you! We had the too cheesy pizza and it was lovely!!! We had churros too and they were so nice. It was a lovely take away, thank you! 👍🏻

Came today not bad £6 for adults £4 for children very small 9 holes and basic not very challenging not bad to waste half hour if its raining. Pool table is poor not all balls come out and was only 1 cue that actually had a tip on it! Darts looked decent tho food and drinks are very expensive. Shame could be an excellent venue with a bit more care and lower prices.

Held my son's 9th birthday party here, and was really good. Had 16 kids at the party and they all really enjoyed it. The 2 girls who were working were absolute stars, dealing with the carnage of 16 kids. Food was good. The golf looked great fun as well.

Staff were lovely and very friendly especially molly which served us through the night, her cocktails were very nice. Drinks are not over priced and food/desserts are beautiful, I’d definitely recommend the cookie dough! Very welcoming and a good atmosphere, music was good and bar had lots to do such as crazy golf, darts and pool. Will definitely return.

Street golf is fun, good for money, but drinks and food very expensive.

Quirky and colourful 9 hole golf course

Great bit of fun for the family. The design is great and this would be great for parties and staff gatherings etc. It does carry a bit of an odour which, being on the lower ground floor is understandable as it will be the toilet waste pipes. Some of the course felt is loose and affects the direction of the ball. But with a bit of love and care I'm sure they can put it back to its best.

Something different some unusual features and liked uv effect ! felt for family group bit pricey as only 9 holes but overall enjoyed course! A good wet weather option 2 and fun on a night out with mates!

Ordered food from Street Golf on Just Eat. They marked the order as dispatched and then as delivered, but after waiting more than 2 hours - the food never turned up. No idea on whether this was the restaurant or the delivery driver, but they ofcourse don't answer the phone, so theres no recourse. Currently persuing a refund, but won't be using again.

Amazing. Went for my partners birthday. Pre booked a package online for 2 drinks each and a round of golf. Was amazing value and great fun. Cocktails were lovely and staff super friendly. Would recommend to anyone and definitely look at booking a package as it works out much better value.

Went here for our daughters 30th birthday. The interactive darts was great fun followed by a round of golf which was something different although only 9 holes we all had a good laugh

eat here as much as i can it is great food and good value the fish is really nice and chunky and the chips not at all greasy

Have not been in for months, the people are so rude, 2 elderly people Tod they could not just go in for cup of tea in the pouring rain so ordered 2 teas and a fish n chips to share and were asked to leave just terrible

We have just driven quite a distance for gluten-free fish and chips. They no longer serve gluten free so very disappointed.

The fish and chips here are great tastes cod not whitebate good size and a good sized person off chips we will be back not the cheapest but the best

Absolutely fantastic service here. The fish and chips are excellent value for money and the portion sizes are huge. The restaurant was very clean and tidy. There were plenty of seats for various numbers. The staff were very friendly. Although it is now called saltrock fish and chips.

I would really recommend this fish and chip shop down in Paignton had a lovely meal down there- have had one not so good meal but this one was lovely- came down on holiday for a week and that was the nicest fish and chips I had had. If you like a sweet thing after fish and chips this is the place! The Banana split was lovely.

The quality of the fish and chip were excellent, the refurbishment in the restaurant is brighter and modern, The menu choice and service is excellent with all children meals under £5.00, If I have to add a negative the front entrance layout will not encourage customers to come, in the restaurant as the entrance is narrow, if this was opened up, it would work..

Takeaway awful. Batter was not nice and the chips were literally revolting. It is pretty hard to do fish and chips so badly. Stay well clear.

We had cheesy chips,I noticed the boy picking bits out of the cheese tub and when we got the food the cheese was mouldy! He was apologetic but the woman didn't even say sorry just looked at us! Had to ask for a refund! What a shame has put me off chips for a long time. Love Paignton though 😀

Have to confess that this place wasn't my first choice but so glad I/we went in and tried their fayre on our way to the Torbay Air Show. Fish, chips and peas was £7.50 and worth every penny. The fish was skinless and the batter was cooked to perfection. The meal came on an oval plate with the fish filling one side. If you wanted a smaller portion then the child's meal may be enough for you. Will certainly make this a port of call when next in Paignton !!

Great service, lovely food, family friendly. A great experience - definitely visiting again. Fish and chips, scampi and children meal were all delicious. Would highly recommend.

We got fish , chips and curry sauce each to take away and were told we could sit on one of the 2 tables outside the shop to eat them. Tasty enough, friendly girl serving, and we enjoyed sitting eating them outside as it had a barriered off bit so didn't seem like you was sitting in the middle of the pavement.

Squires is situate on the main street towards the beach and is easy to miss despite its large hoarding . This award winning restaurant serves skinless and boneless fish if required and offers the bonus of gluten or wheat free batter .There are also alternatives to chips of jackets or salad . Staff were very friendly and service was prompt. Squires offers an all day breakfast [ which looked delicious ] The ice cream sundaes are scrummy and there are unusual options of battered Mars bars and a variety of fritter and milk shakes.Wine, cider and lager available at reasonable prices [ £2-3] The toilets are up a fairly steep flight of stairs and we were not aware of any disabled access ...I managed with crutches with a little difficulty.. We enjoyed our meal here and will certainly return on our next visit to Paignton

I have visited Paignton for years and this chip shop has gone down hill big time

The way the oldish lady who claimed she was the manager spoke to us was nothing short of disgraceful, and something I have never experienced before. I was astonished this lady runs a shop providing a service. All we did was take a seat in the shop having ordered some chips and waited 20 minutes for them to arrive. We were spoke to like idiots for making an honest mistake in not realising we hadn't paid an extra fee for sitting inside. Instead of simply pointing this out, when we would have been more than happy to pay, the lady mocked us in saying things such as "the clue is in the name - take away" and was generally extremely condescending.Her attitude towards paying customers was disgusting, and if I treat customers that way in my job I would be sacked on the spot. Her reaction to us then pointing out how rude she had acted was appalling, going on to rush to point at a sign at the front of the shop which explained our error, which she seemed to take great joy from, and then complaining that we had ordered seven lots of chips. Isn't that your business? I would strongly advise against going here as it put a stain on what was otherwise a very nice day.

Vile, don't waste your time and money! Had to clean the high chair before use, got told off for parking buggy under one of the 13 empty tables, as it would stop customers using it. Coffee weak and tasteless, soggy, microwaved sausage roll, scrappy , greasy chips. Really poor quality food served badly. The location, across from the green and beach is the only thing going for this place.

Treated ourselves to ice cream sundaes- a Knickerbocker Glory and Hawaiian Dream. Both had generous portions of ice cream, fruit, strawberry sauce and cream, finished with sprinkles and a wafer. A real holiday treat.

After a long soggy day out, we wanted to have some hot food so went in search, we came across Squires, we arrived early evening, they had a good selection of food, you could buy take away or sit in the restaurant.We decided to sit and eat, we all choice the same food, which happened to be a special of fish & chips, mushy peas, bread & butter and tea or coffee, the food was served quickly and it was very hot, the food was not greasy and the fish was delicious.The cost was very reasonable approximately £6.75 I would recommend a visit.

We first visited this cafe 2 years ago and were pleased to find the same good value and quality this year. I think it was £6.25 for the special, cod, chips, mushy peas or curry sauce and a slice of bread with flora. I was extremely surprised to read some of the bad reviews on here. The staff were very polite and helpful, even the new members who were obviously still learning the ropes. Yes some of the fixtures and fittings are old but so are many similar establishments in Paignton that have been there for years. As for portion sizes I have a healthy appetite and can assure you the special size portions were big enough for me. We visited a number of times during our holiday and we were never disappointed.

Worst chip shop I've ever been to. I've should have trusted my instincts when we went in to the place as it was empty, we paid £19-60 for fish and chips and 2 burger and chips. The staff were non engaging and the place felt like a mortuary the decor looked very tired and dirty when the food arrived we asked for some napkins and sauce but where told we would have to pay for them baring in mind we had already paid £5 more than the take away prices to sit in. Please don't be ripped off like I was and food wasn't that good anyway and we left it. £20 down the drain don't you waste your money give this chippy a very big wide berth.

Family of 6 stopped for fish and chips. Service good and friendly but food the worst I have had, crispy batter but dripping in fat and fish inside only passable, but it was freshly cooked. Wednesday is a weekly motorbike rally on the sea front so entire town to be avoided unless you admire noisy motorbikes. Torbay Road is the main drag in Paignton and is well past its best which is surprising as the town council charge everyone staying in accommodation a 10 pounds fee.

The place was clean and air conditioned, which was fab. I was disappointed to learn the chips are cooked in beef fat, so not all our party could eat them. Not much else to chose from.

After the BMAD Bike festival, we had a few drinks and looked for some simple food, well what's better than Sausage and Chips, Squires were open and the service was pretty good and the food was perfect for what we wanted.They seem to be reasonable in the price department as well !

Every portion of fish and chips if you eat in the restaurant or take out is cooked fresh each time.No food is kept warm waiting to be sold.

Terrible slow service followed up with frozen supermarket scampi and sweaty chips. This just isn't good enough considering it's proximity to the coast.

I went for the basic cod and chips with mushy peas.The chips were great, the fish had too much batter for my liking and was overly greasy. Mushy peas were hot and smooth.I was given a piece of bread and butter which was a nice touch except the long black hair in.Not one for eating lots of fried food I am not sure I would go again, it was OK but I felt didn't live up to its 'award winning' signs.Also, when a restaurant is empty at 1pm on a summer Saturday it makes you wonder.

A reasonable meal but although the fish itself was very good it did have far too much batter. A nice cup of tea.

We had sausage and chips from here. The chips were really good but the sausages were a little overcooked but still tasty. Portion sizes were just right, not too much left over.

We brought chips yesterday afternoon and they were amazing it was not untill I opened my pot of gravy that I was disappointed best way to describe it was dishwater and tasted disgusting dont recommend.

Squires have a great reputation so it was disappointing here to receive poor service and poor food. We wandered in to order take away only to be told that we had to go out and order it outside - the place was empty and the attitude was poor. The person who took the order had no idea and disappeared for someone else to come and take it We waited an inordinately long time only for the batter on the fish to be soggy and the chips tepid. Don't do it folks.

This used to be a favourite place to eat back in 1997/2015 but it has gone right down hill.The food is okay but nothing special there is better fish and chips around!!! The customer service I always said was good here and the staff very friendly just a shame the food standards have gone down hill.

As having a wheat allergy I have to watch what I eat. Squires is the place for me. The batter was really crispy.

Called in for some chips they ended up in the nearest bin dark coloured and lukewarm wouldn't go there again

My cod was lovely and fresh but the batter was far too thick and gluggy and ruined the taste - in the end I had to peel the batter off like a banana to get to the fish... other than the batter, and if the chips could have been cooked a little longer (our preference on the chips) it would have been a great fish and chips... One other small suggestion, front of house for the takeaway - you'd get more custom if they are friendly and vibrant - instead of the 40/50 something, very moody lady that served us, that looked like she had endured the worlds troubles that day... not once did we see her smile or laugh and only gave one word answers to all her customers - customers like a re-pore with them!

Visited Squires whilst out at Paignton for the Colour Run. Chips were amazing. The fish was not very tasty and the batter in my opinion was overcooked. However it was okay. Service offered by the young man worki g there was great. He was polite and helpful.The restaurant was clean, a little dated but for me if it's clean it's good enough I'm there for the food.The toilets are up a flight of 12 reasonably steep stairs which is fine if you are fit and able but I was dining with a wheelchair user. I was initially informed there simply wasn't the facilities and when I enquired where there was a local disabled toilet it was as though I was trying insulting the older woman eorking there and trying to be difficult. What is difficult is a person in a wheelchair trying to go up a flight of stairs to use a toilet. If the premises aren't fully accessible it shouldn't be that it is as though the blame lies with the disabled person for Beeding accessible facilities. It would be more useful to be prepared to offer help and advice. I didn't raise my issues about the fish being a little dry as the woman had already shown no customer services skills when enquiring about the facilities and I felt it would fall on deaf ears. My score is for the chips, the cleanliness , price and the other server.

As some one with a lot of food problem,s it is great to find a real fish and chip shop I can eat in, with out being ill after. as some people might find a lot of chip shops cook a lot of things in together, but not here. they cook them separately so no cross contamination. if you have a problem with batter or sausage or gluten don't worry, just explain to them, they are happy to explain what's in every thing and how it was cooked and in what oil.

Got take out fish and chips , ok had to wait a while but it was cooked from fresh but we'll worth the wait. It's proper Devon fish and chips, went to a chain restaurant which friends were raving about but not even a patch on this. My sister even warmed hers up in the microwave and said they were beautiful. I live in the Midlands but might even come down for a day,just to get me fish and chips . Sad I know .

The food in this place is absolutely lovely, all cooked to order,beautifully presented and always hot. The staff on the other hand are rude,unprofessional, moody, have no customer service skills and look totally miserable. The toilets are absolutely disgusting, if that was my business I would be totally embarrassed,keeping a toilet clean and fresh is not that much hard word. It made me feel totally sick. It's a shame really as the food is outstanding

Service was friendly and quick and food was served hot and fresh. There is plenty of choice on the menu and you can eat in or take away. We ate in, and the place is family friendly, clean and comfortable.

After a long walk and taking the kids to the pier we stopped here for the lunch special. Cod or haddock and chips with peas and bread for just under £6. The cafe is very dated. Seemed clean enough. The staff polite if unenthusiastic, orders taken quickly. Food cooked to order so a bit of a wait. Food was nice. Nothing more nothing less. Nice crispy batter, flaky fish, crispy chips. Toilets weren't great but were cleanish. Wish people would take more care when providing facilities. Nothing worse than eating somewhere then using the Loo feeling a bit grubby after.

Came with 3 children, and we all enjoyed the food. Fish was really good, not at all greasy like some places. Only issue was that you have to pay for sauces, although the kids got one each included in kids meal. All together a nice experience.

Had a very good meal, 4 of us. Chips were very good, so was the cod, fishcakes and jacket with cheese and beams. Slush lacked juice and taste, should have said something but didn't so can't complain.

We stood in a long queue and then had a further long wait after ordering for very average fish and chips. Quite disappointing.

Love squires have been coming here for years always friendly and lush food have even stopped on the way to Cornwall for our breakfast would always recommend and will continue coming here whenever I visit Paignton

The Food and Service is ok but if you in a wheelchair or mobility problems don't use the toilets as they are up some very steep steps.

A lot to do and the pier is nice and cheap and you don't feel like you've been ripped off, stunning views, nice and clean as well.

Really nice fish & chips. Also does jacket potatoes, pizza's burgers etc. Reasonably priced on average a family of 4 meals costs £25.

We stopped here as it was close to the front and the price looked good,wether it was because it was late afternoon and the staff were tired but the welcome was not great,the food came on probably the smallest dinner plate I have ever seen,went up to ask for ketchup and was told we had to pay for it,then had to ask for serviettes,as the title says not impressed.

A great family meal out, great friendly staff and beautifully cooked fish and chips. Great value for money as for five of us at under £38! Good choices of chips or jacket potato, but we had the chips and they were good. Also a choice of garden peas, mushy peas or baked beans. The fish beautifully cooked in a light crispy batter and a little side salad. Portions are good sizes wether child or adult. Also parking out the front. What a good night!

Enjoyed a large haddock and tasty chips, the restaurant itself looks dated, but the food was fresh (cooked to order) and a perfect accompany to sitting on the famous promenade.

Squires is just what your looking for, it doesn't smell cheep and greasy, all food cooked to order, NO skin, No bones. Lovely

Visited for the fish specials for our teas, quick service but was charged for ketchup (condiments should really be free in my opinion) chips were nicely cooked as was the fish not too greasy. Please stop using flora on the bread though, it tastes horrible, get some Lurpak in.

As a southerner living in the wilds of Yorkshire it was lovely to have Rock at Squires. The serving girls were a delight. So friendly and helpful. We both enjoyed our fish and chips." Him" had haddock. The waitress even gave me uncut slices if bread - to make perfect chip butties. Only quibble, why salad on my plate? We'll be back.

Ok so not the healthiest chippy in the universe, but for sheer taste you can't beat their chips. They use dripping and butter which gives them an amazing crispy coating :)

Having visited there sister restaurant in churston & been very impressed with there quality of food, I thought I'd try the Paignton branch, wish I hadn't bothered, the battered cod was so over cooked I had trouble cutting it & it tasted awful, there was actually very little cod in the batter, needless to say we will not be returning here

Squires are the best gluten free chippy in the bay, always lots of choose, full understanding about cross contamination. happy friendly staff. just wish they opened winter aswel.

Very friendly staff here, and pleasant surroundings. As I was eating during the mid afternoon lull not too long to wait for the food either. The excellent gf cod, chips and mushy peas was as good as I have had anywhere.

Just fancied some chips, nothing fancy, or even a meal. We had to wait while they were cooked but it was well worth the wait they were tasty and we both enjoyed the old English tradition of walking down the street eating our chips. Simple but enjoyable

Came on recommendation of a friend, was not disappointed. Beautiful big plate of fish and chips, cooked perfectly with crisp light batter. Good range on menu including steamed fish options for the health conscious. Choices of traditional extras like pickles, tartare etc and some nice desserts, though after the main meal we had no room! Would definitely visit again.

This is a lovely friendly chip shop,The young lady behind the till is very happy to help :) Also the gentleman and lady cooking very friendly and happy for the custom.Me and my hubby came here twice and have been on a few other occasions and we have always had freshly cooked hot food!!!
