Loved this place. I went in for the very first time a couple of days ago and really enjoyed my visit. I was very welcomed by the staff who worked behind the bar aswell as some of the regulars in there. I'm looking forward to visiting again very soon.

We moved to Torquay nearly a year ago when we first popped in the old meadfoot for a drink. Richard the owner was so welcoming and friendly that we have now become regulars. The old meadfoot has such a warm homely atmosphere and great fun on a Monday, bingo night.

What a fantastic time we had, the staff and customers were welcoming and friendly... atmosphere was really good... Definitely my new place to grab a drink in a quiet proper pub.

Our friends took us out Sunday night for a drink at the Meadfoot. What a disappointment to find it was closed when the online add said it was open. Although we are sorry to hear you had health problems, according to the website. it would be nice to just put closed if possible so visitors don’t make the effort and are disappointed.

Staying in Torquay checked website said open on Sundays eve went as was closed with no notice on doors

Nice place for a drink in Torquay

What can we say.......brilliant. Richard and the staff are very welcoming, always had a bit of banter with them and the locals. I would really recommend Monday night if you fancy a game of bingo. It's a bit of a climb up the road, but it's well worth it and downhill home when you're full of booze, always a bonus!!!

Friendly bar with nice staff and a warm atmosphere. Short walk up from the harbour (or down if you're heading into town). Clean, reasonable drinks and comfortable seating.

Very down to earth pub, always something interesting happening and very friendly staff.

Went here on Sunday of the bank holiday weekend after hearing about it, had a taxi there only to find it empty apart from about three locals sat by the bar. The only time we were spoken to was when we ordered a drink, of which we had two as the price was very expensive. It was not unlike sitting in an old drag queens dressing room, full of tat and a musty damp smell which crept upon you every few minutes. The Greeks have the right idea what to do with old plates by the way!!!! If this is supposed to be a gay bar then god help the gay people of Torquay as I would never return. ALUN/JOHN.

Bring back the atmosphere of the old Meadfoot pub. I visited with my partner, and some family members over Christmas from a ‘straight’ bar. Not only were the drinks over priced, the bar staff were unfriendly, and could not even be bothered to talk. We returned back to our straight gay friendly bar. Doubt I will ever return.

Nice friendly LGBT space with good selection of drinks. There is karaoke and entertainment. Pub is really clean and comfortable and it didn't take long to mix in with the locals.

Visitamos aquí en dos noches consecutivas durante el fin de semana santa, (ahora llamado Bar a trompicones). La primera noche nos dimos cuenta de publicidad para karaoke la noche siguiente. Decidimos hacer una fecha, y allí nos aventuramos en la segunda noche. Enormemente decepcionada! Un puñado pf intenciones, y no de entretenimiento. No es bueno hacer publicidad y luego no entregar. Era sin razón alguna, aparte de 'es un poco tranquilo para karaoke. He oído otras intenciones queja. Paul, el camarero, era lo suficientemente amable. El otro inconveniente era que no tome pagos con tarjeta! Teníamos limitado y no efectivo, apetece caminar una milla de la ATM, así redujeron nuestra noche temprano. Aparentemente, la gente sólo iban para los jugadores. . Los jugadores. Así que deja de hacer! Pasar más tiempo y dinero, si se hubiera tomado cartas. Organizar y cumplir su entretenimiento anuncian!

Visitamos este bar en enero de 2017 para encontrar que ha cambiado su nombre, pero por desgracia no su concepto.

Beautiful place. Great day out with family!

A good rocky beach. A 30 minute walk from town. Better to access by car. Paid car parks at both ends but areas to park along the road to unload sports equipment. Access to public toilets. A cafe and sports rental shop for dive equipment paddle boards and kayaks in the summer time.

the meadfoot inn has recently change its name . it is situated on a steep hill and is very popular for transvestites . the pub it self is nice and you are made welcome

Now called the Stumble Bar - a great night out in a welcoming gay bar with friendly staff and customers....excellent!!!

One of the best beaches in Torbay, has close to no seaweed and has a café nearby. Public transport wise, there is no ways to get there, but it's not a far walk from town! There are two car parks, one is at Daddyhole Plaina and one is at the other end of the beach. There are toilets available as well.

Yo estuve en Torquay durante unos días y encontramos este lugar en la web. Pensé que era mi tipo de lugar y horario para encontrar registramos abrió en el 16. 00 horas. Caminamos en la lluvia 1,5 millas para llegar a las 17.30 y lo encontramos cerrado! Muy decepcionante.

Esto emergió de Trip Advisor sin ninguna petición, así que pensé que mejor que ser actualizados. Acabamos de regresar de Torquay (18 2015 ago) así que puedo informar que Meadfoot Inn ya no existe.

Al haber estado allí en 2005 y 2010 cuando visite los sábados de tarde el pub siempre ha sido amable y bien merece la pena una visita. Esta vez, nos quedamos desconocen el cambio de nombre o cambio de horario (por ejemplo no abierto) cuando llegamos a la 1 pm. No hay información en las ventanas o en la puerta, así que elegimos para no regresar más tarde. Me da la sensación que es otra desaparición de un buen bar gay.

When we visited, the bar had just undergone a bit of a refurb and had been rebranded as Stumble Bar. The drinks were pricey but maybe that's because it isn't a doubles bar. On arrival it was extremely warm inside and with about 20 people inside it was full to the brim.Although it was friendly enough there was very much a social club atmosphere which was a shame as from previous reviews we were expecting a classy gay friendly pub! We were treated to endless tone deaf karaoke singers the whole time we were here.If I was back in the area I would probably try again to see if I had just gone on an off night.

Was greeted by both barmen on arrival which was a nice touch. Nice and comfortable surroundings with none of the usual 'stop talking and look at the new people' things that usually go on. Prices are about right for the area and music is loud enough to be heard but doesn't intrude on your conversation (should that be what you are wanting to do). Will definitely come back here and possibly have something to eat too.

Friendly atmosphere. Liked the bar games on a Sunday evening. Mixed crowd which helped keep the pub from becoming a cliche. Some colourful characters. Would visit again.

My new favourite place in the universe.... Such an amazing place. Robin is a great landlord and the way the pub is decorated.... Wow!!! I asked what it's like in there at Christmas because as it is now it feels like Christmas in there! Robin said you can't imagine the loft has more. Defo coming back at Christmas. It's so pretty in there. You are served your drinks in crystal glasses and if you ask for crisps you get given them in a china dish. My only criticism is being a straight girl not one guy looked at me... What can I expect though in a gay pub. Visited there twice now and both nights didn't want to leave and was politely thrown out!

This is a lovely pub, with a warm, welcoming, friendly & inclusive atmosphere. It's a real home from home with friendly staff & clientele. Robin takes great care in attention to detail, from the decor, right down to the glasses you drink from. I was sad to leave such a welcoming pub & this will definitely be on my return list on any visits to Torquay.

We were down for the weekend celebrating our wedding anniversary and popped into this little gem.Derek was so welcoming and made us feel right at home, after a few we ended getting to know a lot of the locals who were equally as welcoming!I have never been so sad to see the night end! Robin was so lovely in all his bling and myself and my hubby will be back soon!Thanks for the memories and recommend anyone to go and meet some great people!

Visited last week with relatives, still a great pub and nicely decorated. It was relatively quiet but good music and a good atmosphere. According to the posters lots going on and we were given a warm welcome and there was a good choice of drinks.

This bar is a good halfway stop between my hotel and town - very welcome on the return trudge up the hill.The staff were very friendly and attentive and the clientele were also very welcoming. If you go in alone, someone will always speak to you.There is a good selection of drinks and this is the first bar I have been in where the drinks are served in what looks like cut crystal glasses.On various nights there are themes which adds to the interest.

This bar was halfway up the hill from the town to our b&b so was a good stopping off place on the way back after our evening meal,yes it's mostly gay but you are not made to feel out of place and the decor is smart and relaxing

We stumbled across this bar and restaurant - it's a bit off the beaten track. It's a gem - the place is high camp but very welcoming. It was so good we want back that night - it's comfortable and the prices are very reasonable - really great bar staff - especially Paul !

( usually behind bar )Is a genuine lovely welsh man who's Funny & entertaining ... Wether it a your first visit it or you regular he's makes you feel at ease and home. This one of the only the pubs I regularly go ... It's my local the staff are amazing they really are. Richard & Rob are brilliant polite welcoming entertaining and caring .The atmospher is all ways pleasant it warm and inviting generally lovely place to be ,

I haven't visited this pub for a number of years, but what a transformation, now situated a few doors up from its old site, the pub has carried it's great atmosphere with it. The staff were friendly and chatty and the drinks were served quickly and well chilled.

Went to the Meadfoot Inn Torquay at 1p.m for Sunday lunch. Brilliant.The bar staff are very friendly and the place is spotless & very well furnished and comfortable.I had the Turkey roast Sunday dinner and my friends had the Beef. All agreed that this was a great meal, none of this 'two peas and a carrot' lark. We had a large plate with plenty of meat, stuffing and a loads of roast potatoes. We all got a large side plate with three different types of vegetables. The food and the plate was nice and hot, all served at your table. I also had a nice pint of larger with my meal. The meal was approx, £7.00 -£7.50 cant quite remember but well worth the money, I will be going regular from now on, well done & thank you for a very pleasant afternoon..

A return visit to the Meadfoot Inn, sorry to say it wasn't good.Arrived and the place was cold and empty apart from a barman who took the order, we ordered food recommended by him which was scampi (apparently according to him the only thing he could cook), the barman disappeared for a moment or two and then returned to his bar stool from that moment on he completely ignored us, sat down and started texting on his mobile phone, which is a pet hate of mine. My wife and I helped ourselves to a table after ordering (two drinks came to over £9 which I thought was very expensive), it was only then that we noticed the television set, which when we arrived was playing music but was now playing a stream of photographs of naked men in various erotic positions, the images seemed pornographic to me which we both found embarrassing and in poor taste, and not really the thing to stimulate the apatite. The food arrived, which was to be honest very average, overpriced, greasy and out of a packet, by this time another customer came in, and to our horror entered into a very loud conversation with the barman about a recent sexual encounter. The conversation was extremely vulgar and explicit. I did cough a few times with embarrassment, especially when the barman described very loudly in detail his love of a particular type of sexual position, adding dimension by demonstrating it to the customer, with loud groans and moans - by this time we had had enough, left the meal untouched and the drinks mostly untouched and walked down the hill to the smugglers. The Meadfoot used to be a lovely place with locally found produce, cooked by a cheerful lady, sadly on this occasion we found the experience to be sordid, the barman was rude and extremely inappropriate. Not a place to take a lady or a child, will not be visiting again.

Good atmosphere and decent value food. Although it's a gay pub it's no dearer than nearby alternatives and a lot more comfortable as well as cleaner.

After many days of site seeing and days out we though we better give this a try as our accommodation recommended it. It was our last night in Torquay and I only wished we went in earlier there are always fun and games going on in the bar and the people from the locals to the visitors and friendly and chatty. The bar staff are happy to help and are friendly too, We struggled to find some places to eat while in Torquay as we can both be fussy and don’t meet in the middle and this place would have suited us both for our eating habits. If your passing this place then pop in or if you want a good pint pop in too its up will to get to it but on the way home its all down hill.

This place is utterly unique! from the clientelle to the culture of the decor resplendant in all its time classic & charasmatic glory! & the comfort of it! great choice of chairs to relax or cuddle up in, friendly staff & brilliant food AND some well chosen reading material! With ultra clean facilities, a great atmosphere, debates, converstion-& not forgettin fantastic quiz prizes to boot! Our family raised a few eyebrows-but ultimately glasses in this brill place!

We went in for a drink whilst visiting family in Torquay. This place is very friendly and welcoming. The mix of locals and tourists is good and they have plenty going on to entertain the customers. I'ts nice to find a pub that is 'real' and not part of some chain. The landlord and staff were really chatty. We will visit again when in the town again ...Thanks

We ate at the Meadfoot a couple of times and thoroughly enjoyed both occaisions. the food is good traditional pub food and done well. The atmosphare is really friendly and tourists get a good welcome.

Great for sunday lunch not to be missed. This is a gay friendly pub with a great atmosphere, but everyone is made to feel welcome and part of the local crowd. This is a place for a good giggle and not to be missed> it has the cleanest toliet I have ever seen in my life. we went in for a quick drink ina saturday afternoon and ended up spending every night in there. My hushand and i will definfinetly be going back.A big thank you to the landlords / landladys, Robbie & Richie for making us feel special and part of the family.Of course how could we not mention Derek the funniest barmen in the UK!

This is a great little find. The guys at the Key West suggested this for a meal the first time we visited in April 11 and we had a lovely snack lunch. This made us go back this time for dinner this month. Were not disappointed!Had two meals here lunch 1 day and then dinner with friends another. Lunch we had in the main bar area and was fresh and well cooked.Dinner was in the Back Room which is modern and comfortable and intimate as well due to its size. Had specials from the board and was fantastic. Sue is a great chef and it shows with everything we had. AND the staff andf management are very friendly and welcoming - especially Derek... what a wee gem he is. Thanks Derek for being so nice.... wel be back (Lady Gaga CD also with lol). Al n Stu x

the Meadfoot was recommended as the place to go for a breakfast. Was very enjoyable and not swimming in grease like other places in the bay . Would defiantly go again especially as after seeing some of the evening food coming out.

what a place great food great company such a welcoming and freindly atmosphere. we tried a few resturants whilst on holiday in torquay and the back room at the meadfoot inn was by far the best good home cooked food excellent service and very reasonably priced. the sunday lunch is delicious you will not go home feeling hungry as we did at some of the more expensive resturants. the meadfoot has got it so right and we will be visiting again next year.

My partner and I have enjoyed three Sunday lunches here and another meal, it is our nearest pub and has just started doing food. Spotlessly clean with a nice atmosphere. Sunday lunch is as good as anything my Mother could do with great yorkshire puddings and nice quality meat, at £7.50 a person it is hard to beat. Being a hotel we have sent several guests here who have also been impressed. This is not a £50 a head gourmet restaurant, just good quality, traditional, unpretentious honest food served by friendly staff. There are also daily specials such as Brixham mussels white wine etc.
