Lovely chip shop on the pier. Food was really nice, and good size portions for the price. They must have had a recent referb as the cafe to sit inside is done very modern and lovely. Staff were friendly, food came within a reasonable timeframe.

terrible customer service skills, food was cold and you could tell it’s been sat there unfresh went to put salt and vinegar on and got shouted at by a member of there staff as i didn’t pay to sit inside but i didn’t even sit inside i was just using there salt and vinegar as there was none outside. definitely do not recommend payed £2 for them to just give me a sprinkle of cheese leaving me having to ask for more and they refused and said you get what you pay for. save your money and DONT go! if i could do a no star review i most definitely would

Been in a few times when we've take the grandkids on the pier. Nice clean f&c restaurant that has been award winning, so is on the higher price point. But imo there is a more consistent offering, about 35% cheaper not that far away that I'd always use in preference. Today's chips actually tasted a bit odd. The chips were golden fried and looked good, but I'm not sure if it was the potatoes used or what. Very earthy taste with and undertone of seafood. Like I say, odd. Cod is what cod is, quite tasteless, so it relies on the batter, which was ok. The portion size for a mini f&c is good, but then so it should be for the money. The 'other' I place I refer to always tastes good (as 'clean' as f&c can be) are good portion sizes and similar to here, are always cooked fresh to order. I can't say where the other place is, as this review would sound like a knock and plug, which it isn't.

Okay, now I have eaten at this chippy about half a dozen times. It is a hit or miss. Some of the workers need to he in the local HMP not serving food to people. Watch them closely or pray it all goes well afterwards ;), best be near the bog.

Although the food was lovely I was disappointed that when paying £18 for fish and chips it didn't come with an accompanying side I.e beans/peas. Also I ordered Cod but noticed my reciept said Haddock so within 2 mins of ordering I was back at the till to get this rectified, I was told they can't change it as they are already cooking my order! Not one to argue I simply accepted this and sat back down. I also tried to order a sausage for my 3 year old and was told I couldn't have just a sausage so had to buy a full childrens meal! This does not help with food waste & obviously ment I had to pay for food that wasn't going to be eaten! Never have I been to a chippy that you can not order a sausage! Very bizarre! Furthermore the Waitress must have sensed I was unhappy (although I remained polite the entire time having been in the hospitality industry myself for 18years I would find it very difficult to be rude to a server) as we seemed to be the only table that was simply given our food and walked away everyone else was asked if they would like sauces or anything else, this was a minor thing but did add to the disappointing overall experience.

Sorry to say we didn't enjoy our meal, the service and really didn't enjoy the bill. More than £72 for 3 X jumbo sausage/chips and 1x large cod and chips, washed down with £4 cans of rio,coke etc and one bottle of cider is more than expensive. They go on about their double cooked chips but they were not great at all, grey, overcooked and poor quality. The cod was tasty to be fair. When ordering I asked for a second sausage on two orders and was told it depended on how many orders I was placing. I told her 4 and that if she couldn't do this we wouldn't be eating. She had to go and ask. Seems ridiculous to me. Mind you £9.95 for I jumbo sausage and chips is ridiculous in itself. £3 each for the extra sausage, almost a bargain. Great location on the pier so lots of footfall but very overpriced and not value for money imo. Unsurprisingly we won't be going back. Once bitten......

The new restaurant is lovely, great atmosphere and quality food. I've eaten from the takeaway too and I'd highly recommend both.

The chips were all mushy & in small bits, never ate them.

We had a mini cod and chips each and it's possibly the best fish I've ever had. Melt in your mouth with lovely light batter and a good portion for mini fish. It's expensive but entirely expected for eating fish and chips on the pier. It was very cozy seating inside though and you couldn't sit back to back with the table next to you otherwise you couldn't get out the seat.

Fish and chips on the pier, my wife reckons they were the best she has had for years. I had haloumi fries that were really good. The staff were very efficient and friendly, especially Ami and Maddie who looked after us brilliantly , they were a credit to the company.

Normal, a little bit expensive for a basic service but well.

Shocking!! Went inside to eat and wanted to add an extra sausage to my meal and was told they don't sell single ones. They sell single ones outside but I wasn't allowed to bring one inside. The lost out on over £60 as we didn't order

We visited here last Saturday for fish and chips, while the restaurant staff were attentive, this has to honestly be the worst tasting chips I have ever had. I thought to begin with it was just me but my wife soon said the same. While the staff were apologetic, they seemed to advise this was just the taste. Just to be clear like most of us I've had my fair share of bad takeaways but this was truly awful. I should have just asked for my money back and gone elsewhere.

Absolutely horrible! £9:50 just for a fish and it has no flavour to it, staff were very rude and over all for £26.10 we got 2 fishes and a small chips between us not worth the money not worth the experience save your money and go else where !

Delicious Cod & chips. Large is huge, but there's only large or mini, nothing in between. If there's 2 of you better off sharing a large, believe me you won't go hungry.

What you see is what you get, the food is classic chip shop food, overall good, what I would say is the cheese is that powdery plastic pre-grated type, not nice! But maybe that's just my personal taste. Very overpriced compared to our chippy at home but that's what I would expect at such a prime tourist location. Staff were neither good or bad, some of them didn't look too happy to be there but it was a very busy and hot day so I can forgive that.

It's a great little restaurant on the pier with a good view of the beach and sea. The fish was average - I was hoping for something a bit more flavour and not quite as dry.

Had a take away fish and chips, which were pretty nice. Was surprised that cost of eating in was almost double to take away. Usually it's just some 20-30% more.. Plenty of seating outside, good quick food when out and about with kids.

£3 for a smallest portion of chips mainly just the hard left over bits not worth it at all especially for price you pay barely even filled

Had a fantastic experience. The staff were friendly, and the food was delicious. We opted to dine in and enjoyed the seaside view. Ordered mini cod and chips as well as nuggets and chips, both simple yet tasty. Overall, I give it a 5-star rating for its welcoming atmosphere, great service, and delicious food. Highly recommended for a casual dining experience by the sea.

Poor service. Kept waiting ages for a portion of chips while the staff joked around with each other and one stood there transfixed on their mobile. When we finally got served my 'large' portion of chips which was not large at all for an overpriced £4.50. The food was average at best and the service was cr@p. If you want a takeaway in Paignton I'd strongly suggest trying somewhere else.

The food was amazing and you can see the view of the sea front, the food was so hot and it was good prices just make sure you tell them wether you want a meal or not cause most food comes with chips, way better than half the chip shops in the town

Following the great reviews we had seen, we visited during a family holiday and took our takeaway food to our car to eat in-front of the sea. Portions were of an average size and reasonably priced for a food outlet on a pier and the staff were friendly too. Food was cooked fresh to order and looked tasty! Unfortunately it looked better than it tasted, it wasn’t awful by any means but it really did look super and when we did eat- it was just okay which disappointed us a little. We did however enjoy watching a seagul try and eat some of my daughters battered sausage through the windscreen as it cooled on the dashboard 😂

Very disgusted how greedy they have got fish £9.30 powdered curry sauce £2.00 a pot we won't be buying from there anymore there are just as nice and reasonable fish and chips else where with a lot better menu they won't last like that. Very Expensive

Came here on a busy Saturday evening after spending an afternoon on the arcades. It’s not a surprise the food here is award winning 😍 my partner got the biggest cod and chips I have ever seen, it was lush. The staff were super friendly too despite it being incredibly hectic and busy, the one young lady who served us was so cheerful and friendly despite it all so a big shout out to her and all the other hardworking members of the team

This a regular haunt for me and my partner when we visit. We both opted for the battered sausage and chips. The chips were beautifully cooked, the batter on the sausage was crispy, not a soggy chip in sight, the staff are lovely and welcoming, nothing was to much trouble, if you’re near here, definitely worth a try

£4.50 for large chips, disappointing and mushy. I wouldn't recommend as your paying more for the location and nothing else

Whilst enjoying a lovely mooch about Paignton on a warm March lunchtime, we became hungry. It was too nice (weather) to sit inside, so fancied doing that very British thing... Fish and chips on the promenade!!! We used Google reviews and decided to try Paignton Pier Fish and Chips. We were not disappointed. We had large haddock and chips and small cod and chips. Everything was cooked to order. The batter was fluffy, not greasy and fresh tasting. The same can be said about the fish too. The chips were a good size and again delicious. HIGHLY recommended ********

Food was ok but got the order wrong , despite asking 3 times what we wanted. We still ended up missing a small chips and the 2 curry sauces we ordered turned into 2 gravies..

The cafe restaurant offers good views of the shoreline and harbour from its window seats. Service decidedly mixed. Interactions range from friendly to remote. I have had to wait at the counter, ignored by staff whilst they focus on other tasks (food preparation, cleaning). On the most recent visit I discovered later that an old 50p coin had been given in change. If you sit outside you'll endure a cacophony of noise.

Very good traditional fish and chips stall. Right on the pier. Always busy. Behind it is a nice park to sit right by the sea.

All staff over the summer nice and food great only loose a star due to a young lady who I've never seen seemed to be grining when asking a valid question in amongst a great team a shame just one member of staff seemed unprofessional I'm sorry to say as I'm a friendly person to all people

Had a horrible experience at this place. My friend first ordered chips as a take away and then we decided to eat in. They were very unreasonable by not allowing him to have his chips inside. As the discussion with the rude employee continued he swore at my friend. At this point I decided we should leave and told them to give him his money back. Very disappointed hope that rude boy gets sacked!!!

Atmosphere ok for a pier chip shop.. just not very many seats outside, and it felt like you're sitting in the main walkway to the pier. Food was amazing, though, so it made up for it and very quickly served despite it being very busy.

We walked in and sat down at a dirty table as there were no clean tables, we were given dirty cutlery and found HAIR in food. 🤮🤢 over priced food and not even a coffee due to the machine being broken. Would NOT recommend this place to anyone.

Came on our last night of holiday as we hadn’t had fish and chips by the sea yet (obligatory family holiday event). As you’d expect being this close to the sea front, you will be paying a premium, particularly if you want to it in the restaurant (which adds £10 to the price of a meal). We had 3x cod and small chips which was almost £9/head plus a kids scampi and chips £6. The portions were pretty small but the fish was tasty and came with a sachet of tartare sauce. The chips were a little over done. I dare say if you venture in-land a few streets you’d get a much better deal but on a Sunday, chips shops that are open are a little few and far between unfortunately.

Get a choice if sitting inside or outside if you want too eat in. The food (we had large cod and chips) was tasty but a bit overpriced in my opinion. We sat inside which is good but the leg room at the table we sat at was not generous as the seats and table are fixed to the floor, this was a downside.

We had some tasty cod, sausages, and chips for the beach.

Forgot part of our order so had to go back. Met with some resistance regarding missing item but did eventually realise their mistake. Food was good, wait times were good too. Would return. (but check order before walking away ;) )

Fantastic food, fish is beautiful, flakes away and so full of flavour, chicken filled burger really tasty and chicken nuggets some of the best around, chips just really really nice. Can't go wrong here for a fantastic fish and chip supper.

Amazingly tasty fish and chips. The Tartare sauce was wonderful. We ate inside the cafe so the food prices are very expensive. Probably best to eat outside or find a bench somewhere then the prices are more reasonable.

Nice food and nice view but very small indoor sitting area with very tight tables. We enjoyed the food and the staff are really nice. The only drawback is over price mostly due to the perfect location. Over all nice experience will go back again.
