Beautiful pub in a great location with very nice service and a delicious selection of food; Prices are sometimes not cheap, but the quality is excellent - we'll definitely come back! A few free parking options along the street - otherwise in a parking lot that is almost chargeable (refund possible if consumed in the pub!)

A nice pub tucked away near a remote small beach. We thought a family lunch would be a nice treat. The food was ok if a bit overpriced in our opinion. Nice garden and the staff were cordial. After reading some reviews on here we felt it was a bit overrated. There are better quality and better value restaurants in the area.

I hadn't been to this pub since I was in my twenties & back then it was a very dark old fashioned pub serving very traditional pub food. Fast forward 35 years I came in the week with 4 other girlfriends just before Christmas last year for lunch & had a really gorgeous meal & delicious pudding. I came here last Saturday with a friend for an evening meal & we commented what an amazing meal we had eaten Yesterday I came with all my family & had the best roast meal I think I have ever had. Beautiful taste, excellent fresh vegetables in season with plenty of meat. Staff were so attentive & nothing was too much trouble. I Cannot recommend this pub enough. Stunning views, beautiful garden, very stylish decor, excellent service, fantastic tasting food & drink, what more can you ask for I would give it higher than 5* if I could

Exquisite!) That started off our stay in the area & we stated that before our return home another visit would be needed, so we booked online for our final nights meal & yet again absolute perfection 👌 we both had the steak & Guinness pies 🥧 that yet again were a delight to the taste buds 😋 both meals were excellent value for money & we left the premises feeling well stuffed. Location and garden were fantastic and selection of drinks great. Staff and restaurant however were not. Considering tourism is likely their primary income, the welcome was cold, even though we were in there every day. The attitude was as if tourists are to be tolerated and kept at a distance and served under sufferance. The food was poor. Forgot all our starters, my daughter's fries were cold, radishes on a duck dish were just chopped in half and dumped on the plate, ratte potatoes were simply boiled spuds chopped into quarters, bottle of wine was dumped on the table with us having to open it ourselves. All in all, lovely building and location but very poor and weird staff and service.

We booked a family table in their dog-friendly area for a Sunday roast. Food was excellent and service was great too. The roast was huge, the yorkshires were bigger! The accompanying veggies were beautifully cooked and lunch was really well presented on the plate. We love that children can have the same as adults and it’s half the price as our little one devours a roast! Really disappointed with dessert. Could t work out why it appeared to be so poorly put together and have the ‘bought in’ look - really lowered the quality based from the high experience from the main. We loved the venue; quaint, warming and stylish. Parking is a nightmare so leave extra time. Came here based on a local review, would definitely return for the food.

The garden is beautiful. Close to the beach. Food was a little expensive but quality was alright. The chef does know how to accommodate requests and provided us a good lunch. We were happy it wasn’t frozen ready-made meal from shops which a lot of restaurants make it hot in oven and serve these days. One of the dish was not impressive. we did not request anything changed in it But thats just bad luck i must say as the other food was alright. Manager said the peas in dish were fresh and made yesterday morning. 🤣 … Never heard ‘fresh’ and ‘made yesterday’ in one sentence before so was funny and hence did not continue the conversation. 🤣 Definitely good place to go with family for a mid-high priced lunch/treat.

So I went last night with my Son and his girlfriend.....service was top notch, they made a fuss of my Sons pooch. The food was to die for. Nice little restaurant, it may be the season but it only serves food after 18:00 which seems a tad odd. Food seems to be of a good standard but quite an odd menu; again, it may be the seasonal aspect as I understand they like to find locally produced ingredients. I suspect it is a very different atmosphere in the high season. Staff are wonderful, not sure about the burger patty but the fish is very pleasant. I noticed that the pub donated a defibrillator down by the sea nearby which is very admirable.

If I were to imagine the most wonderful Pub Restaurant, this would be it. From the outside it is charming and enticing. Inside like a Tardis it has many enchanting areas that offer different options to sit and drink, a bar snack or a more formal dinner, all of equal comfort, cosiness and delight. The atmosphere is super friendly without a hint of pretention but the food is amazing and could easily grace a Michelin stared restaurant. There are areas where you can take a dog and others where it's dog free. So, something for all wishes. Prices are very reasonable for such excellent cuisine. There is a very comprehensive selection of wines and again the prices reasonable. Great choice of beers and the best dog treats our dog has ever eaten. The journey down the narrow lane to get there will reward you.

This was a lucky find as we were intending to eat elsewhere on Babbacombe front but they were fully booked due to the theatre. A quick Google suggested the Thatch as an alternative in roughly the right direction to our journey. Husband, who was driving, was concerned on the dark narrow lanes to here "this place better be ok!... " however once we were stood in the friendly, welcoming bar area then shown to the quiet, relaxed charming ambience of the dining room all was forgiven! It was Fish and Chip £10 Friday so I opted for that asI wanted to test it against the place we ate similar on the Quay at Brixham a few days before (yours won! ) Husband had pie of the day (steak and madeira) which was also excellent and was a large individual proper pie which was obviously home made. Very filling too. Staff were friendly and genuine with just the right mix of attentive but not overpowering too. It would be great to return in the summer and experience the garden area with the stunning views and wood fired pizza oven. I bet it's amazing. I'm so pleased the place in Babbacombe wouldn't seat us... Everything happens for a reason.

Parking meter only takes cash (no phone signal means it can't take cards) you do get a partial refund from restaurant if you show your parking ticket when you pay your bill, as long as you'd paid at least £3.60. As locals we love to come to this beautiful pub. Beautiful garden with ocean views from the elevated deck. Beautiful food. Beautiful team lead by the front by lovely Matt. Decent napkins. It's the little things that count. 5 stars? A galaxy, surely? A lot of money and effort has gone into this business.

An amazing gastro-pub. The food was magnificent, a real credit to Liam the chef. I regularly eat in Michelin star restaurants as a treat for special occasions and the venison dish I had this evening would not have been out of place on any one or their tasting menus. Top notch!

Lovely looking place in the heart of Maidencombe but unbelievably a pint of lime & soda was £2.30!!!

Fantastic service and selection of local ales, yummy olives and "thatch" burger & chips. We loved the beer garden, so relaxing to spend a few lazy hours watching the sun set over the bay.
