The best restaurants serving British food in South West

If I could my latest experience zero stars I would. Over the years I’ve been buying fish and chips here and it’s been great with decent portion size or if anything too much. I always order large cod and it is massive however today I received 2 slivers of cod. I went back after buying with it to ask if I had been given the wrong cod - the grumpy lady behind the counter opened it and declared it was definitely large and told me sorry you came back and its now cold, wrapped it up and gave it back to me. Not what you expect and I could clearly see the fish that was cooked and waiting was larger. Awful customer service, would rather drive 5 mins further and go to Simpsons-similar price but with food customer service and better tasting food

Super food and nice atmosphere. The add on stellar service from Jake Stokes in the Bistro who really knows his wines and enhances the experience. Reasonably priced and great quality. Can only be very heartily recommended. Building in general is very interesting too.

We had a very enjoyable Sunday afternoon at this lovely pub, it was packed but the service was good, the beer was excellent and the entertainment ('Adam in the hat') was brilliant. So good that they provide live music to liven up a Sunday afternoon!

Amazing customer service and delicious well cooked food. Perfect food for a cosy night takeaway at home. Will definitely be coming back here again

5 stars for for this incredible venue, alway happy staff awesome food and service. Been coming here for years in the winter and for boardmasters. Constantly good and down to earth beach bar

Visited after being recommended by the reception staff where we stayes at Bideford Bay. Really nice roast dinner and sunday lunch. The little gnome walk outside was fun and quirky too.

Great friendly efficient staff, lovely breakfast of poached egg on toast. Service was fast, will certainly return often

We'd read some reviews, so we knew they didn't serve food, so we planned to take in a takeaway. Popped in to make sure we could get a seat (4.50 on Friday). Glad we did as we got the last table, and I can see why. The landlord greeted us on arrival and was only too happy for us to bring food in. Asked us what beer i liked and was really accommodating. Pub was small and quirky with good selection of beers. We went with kids, it's not exactly a family pub (they were the only youngsters in there), but everyone was super friendly and I'd certainly go back family or not. Thanks for having us

Excellent Ham, Egg & Chips and Pizza (very generous). Was disappointed with a teabag in a cup rather than a pot of tea - thought it rather let this special place down

Why put herbs and / or mustard in all the veg. This used to be a lovely place to eat but seems to have gone down hill. If it ain't broke dont mend it. Also noisy drunks at the bar swearing. Not something you want in a restaurant.

Half an hour wait for a DRINK! Asked for tap water to sip on until then and was told I'll be with you when I can. Very shoddy service indeed.

The staff made us very welcome as soon as we arrived. Check in was very easy. Service and food excellent. Our room was spotless a d extremely comfortable. I will definitely stay here again when flying from Bristol airport.

This is our go to beach for family get togethers. Plenty of parking, loos, stunning beach and the brilliant venus cafe! Great coffee and milkshakes. A bee line is always made for the delicious pastys and the fish and chips are great quality and very tasty. There is plenty of choice for veggies and vegans as well as meat eaters. Everything is locally sourced and ethically produced., which makes it taste even better 😋. The staff are always so friendly and helpful even when they are run off their feet busy. This is a great place.

Stunning location on South beach. Best bacon rolls around. Great coffee, lovely staff. Then at the end of the day a cup of tea watching the oyster catchers. A very special place
