A pub full of character with some well kept, well priced beers. We stopped by for a couple of pints which were tasty. The bar is quite dark with all sorts of wierd stuff hanging from the ceilings, you did feel like part of history was all around you! I attended the Hole in the Wall pub in Bodmin on a Sunday afternoon, following a conversation at the bar between friends we were confronted by what I can only describe as a mad woman. It turned out to be the manager of the bar who in my opinion had too much to drink. She shouted at us then turned her attention to me, so I tried to leave but was slapped on the face by this woman before I could leave. Tried to report this matter to Landlord but he seems to have a thing for her so would not investigate the matter. I will not be back.

Making a day of a long journey down to the west of Cornwall my wife and I pulled off the A30 to visit Bodmin a town we had not been to before. We were hoping to find somewhere for a quick bite to eat but arriving just a little too late, the towns cafes had all just closed. After wandering around for a bit and almost ready to give up we spotted the Hole in the Wall and intrigued decided to give it a try as the sign outside said food. First impressions were good, the place has lots of genuine character and an interesting mix of customers, Despite it having obvious 'locals' appeal it was very welcoming and our hopes were high. Unfortunately the kitchen was closed but the lady behind the bar said she could rustle us up a pork pie. It initially didn't sound very inspiring but we plumped for it anyway as we were keen to eat and get on with the rest of our journey. We decided to take our drinks into the garden and the lady brought out the pie(s). Not one, but two. Small but homemade and they were absolutely delicious. Served with homemade pickles they went down a treat. The service and friendliness were excellent. Hopefully will be able to visit again soon to sample the lunchtime menu.

I live less than 2 miles away, from Cornish Arms, must have driven past so many times. It was one of the families birthdays 12 October. We wanted somewhere different, from the same old same old. Looked at the menu's and decide this was the place for us. All ages from old to young. What can I say, very welcoming, service perfect. Were with us all in seconds. Drinks first then menu's and daily specials board. What0 a wonderful selection. All tastes covered and all needs. There was no waiting time at all. considering the diversity at what was ordered. Food excellent, piping hot and delicious. Everyone very full. however the children wanted ice cream. I wanted the roulade. Then everyone caved in and had desert. Fantastic again. Our party finally left full and satisfied, having enjoyed great food and company. My daughter said how wonderful to be somewhere that was full, of people all taking. We love the atmosphere, will we be back, of course we will.

We had a gift voucher for two nights.when arriving at the Hotel we had problems validating it. It seemed lack of communication between the hotel and voucher company was the problem. Maybe the booking procedure should change. Apart from that a great hotel with an exceptional breakfast. The rooms were clean. Staff were friendly and 1am their was a nice vibe about the place. We had to use a public car park.only 5mins away so no problem The evening meals were nice and fairly cheap. The hotel is in the town centre with some great walks along the estuary and camel trail.will definitely stay there again
