The Swan Hotel in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

We didn't have many restaurant options the evening we chose to eat in Wadebridge, and this seemed an OK option for a simple meal. I did have some issues finding something on the menu that would satisfy by capsicum allergy and the bar tender had difficulty finding the chef for advice because he was outside smoking somewhere. (Information direct from the young man...not my opinion.) Our table, which was inside near the bar, was sticky which kind of bugged me because the whole place didn't seem very clean. Cigarette smoke was wafting inside from the door that was open due to the warm temperatures. My meal was well presented and very good, but I didn't find it to be a comfortable experience eating it while smelling smoke. We didn't stick around long.

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday lunch, excellent food and good to have a choice of size (small, medium and large) plates. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially barman/manager - great banter with lots of laughter! Would definitely recommend and if ever we're back in Cornwall will call again. Thank you!

Just popped in for a morning coffee with hubby and Hugo our little dog. Always a warm welcome and a fuss made of Hugo. BUT no decaf on arrival so manager went out and purchased some there and then what GREAT SERVICE can’t ask for more 😁

Food was very poor, badly prepared, cold and did not represent value for money. Front of house staff were very pleasant and helpful, but the standard of food served to us spoilt our experience completely.

We were in Wadebridge overnight before the Macmillan Mighty Hike and needed somewhere close by for a pre-event evening meal. My friend booked a table at The Swan in advance and it’s a good job she did as it was a busy Friday evening with walk-ins being offered outside seating or to try again later. Staff were friendly, service was quick and our macaroni cheese and bolognese linguinis were really tasty, crazy hot & just what we needed before walking 26 miles. Having walked past The Swan many times in my life I’m sorry to say I hadn’t stopped in before but based on this meal I’ll be back.

We stayed in room 4 and the entire room vibrates from morning till evening as the kitchen extractor runs somewhere near it. It feels like you're standing on a vibrator plate until the kitchen closes at night, it made me feel sick and we had to stay out late until it stopped as it was impossible to stay in room. In the morning and hour and a half before check out whilst we were getting ready one of the staff just walked into our room without knocking or checking if we were checked out yet. The milk provided in the rooms was completely past its sell by date and was thick and lumpy. I don't recommend this hotel at all and I would definitely suggest looking for a real hotel if you're looking to stay in this town.

Booked a table only a few hours before arriving and they were able to accommodate us. Staff where friendly and helpful, and the food was amazing. We ordered a pesto chicken salad, kids spaghetti bol and a crayfish linguine. It was top notch. Happy to go agai

Stayed twice for works Xmas dos. Good value for money, rooms are clean. Reasonably priced for the area. Can’t really complain.

We had a super Roast Dinner today the portions were large It tasted all home cooked with lots of veg and the Yorkshires were amazing. We would definitely recommend it.

An absolute must if you're in Wadebrdge. Friendly & welcoming staff and the food is the best we've eaten this holiday. Generous, tasty and piping hot food & reasonable too what more could you ask for. Defo revisiting this holiday.

In for a late lunch after a cycle on the beautiful Camel Trail. Food was fresh & tasty with good serves & great value. Service was good too.

Had a lovely Sunday lunch here today, food outstanding and the service was great! Special mention for the manager (didn’t get his name), who made us feel very welcome!

Lovely pub with great atmosphere. Food was delicious and the steak and ale pie was clearly homemade with fresh vegetables, hunters chicken was cooked perfectly and not dry as you can sometimes find when eating out. Compliments to the cook

Delicious food and great service. It was very busy but our lovely waitress Jasmine was exceptional. She was smiling and friendly whilst obviously very busy. The food was superb.

Stopped in, stayed for some food and then stayed for the evening. I arrived with the wife and our furry friend and was served a tasty ale and a glass of plonk with a welcoming smile by the friendly bar staff. The beer was good and we were enjoying the company, so we ordered food and another round. The food was very good, steak for me and gammon for the missus. Well prepared, exactly as requested and with very generous portions - we couldn't finish our puddings! A couple more drinks and we left fat and happy.

Good selection of lunchtime food all freshly cooked, a very tasty lunch. Also very delicious puddings! All at a very competitive price. Portions are very ample.

Poor breakfast, bacon that thin had to close the door in case it blew away, sausage cooked on top raw on bottom, Staff not bothered unless you are local, Made such a fuss about the bread, it was one slice Staff never asked if everything was ok , Expensive for what it was

Lovely lively pub, friendly staff breakfast good. Unfortunately there is no car park so had to use council one which was located a bit far for me. And was worried about leaving the car there overnight as its quit secluded

Came in for a drink the night before we came in for an evening meal. The quality of the food in here is very good from what I had my wife and I had. If you come to Wadebridge it's to me it's worth a visit.

Went for a lovely Easter lunch with a few friends and my friends autistic daughter, food quality was good but kept getting sniggered at by a few staff members. Service quality needs improving to not stare and laugh at customers

Loved the food here ate here twice both times the food was excellent staff very friendly and helpful great location just by the bridge. My partner had a burger and said it was the best he has had in a long time I had chicken which was well seasoned and tasty I also tried the Sunday roast which was just as delicious I will definitely eat here again when visiting

Mother’s Day roast was fantastic. Our server was attentive and fantastic when interacting with our 3 year old. We had the privilege to see one of the chefs Josh after our meal who done a fantastic job of preparing our meal. The meat was so tender and delicious we could tell it was really quality produce.

Booked a room for my partners birthday on the 24th of this month party down stairs was acceptable noise wise however the heat alarms going off and waking us 6 times was not acceptable we were offered no compensation or apology I even messaged Rob the owner to air my concerns a good family run business I think not

Top quality as usual. Welcoming and dog friendly. Never disappointed we come back every year. Today’s visit was top dollar. Even though they had just about stopped serving food the serving lady asked the kitchen to make an exception. We were happy to go without but she could see our disappointment. A treat to have a proper crumble. Loads of crumble. See you next year guys

Excellent ciabatta with Sunday roast meat, chips and salad. Pleasant surroundings at a reasonable price.

Stopped for lunch while cycling the Camel Trail. Sunday roast ciabatta was very filling and good value with a decent side salad. Good beers on draught too. Nice interior. Good pub.

Don’t be fooled by the ordinary pub vibe the food is real quality and generous portions. The staff are friendly, helpful and efficient and the chef is truly talented. Would recommend to anyone

Popped in for lunch and staff said we could take our dog in. Nice varied menu with good prices and friendly staff. Lots of tables and booths inside and quite busy. I had burger and fries and wife had a lasagna with garlic bread. Really nice and large portions. Recommended

Tried this hostelry after disappointment elsewhere and didn't go anywhere else during our stay in the Wadebridge area.Ate 5/5.30. The staff were friendly and efficient.The menu covered a wide range of dishes to suit most palates and our choices were delicious and well presented.The drink selection was excellent. The atmosphere was good.

We have eaten here twice recently and on both occasions the service and food were excellent. It is not often nowdays that you enter a pub and feel like you are actually valued as a customer, nothing is too much trouble. We had Sunday lunch here and the food was lovely with decent size portions. I am not sure how they do it for the price, they definitely don’t cut corners on the quality! By far the best value we have had in this part of Cornwall.

Yearly August holiday re-visit. As ever, the menu was extensive and the food quality was excellent. I felt the barman was a bit offish and didn't really know what he was doing, with regards to food orders, but he was polite enough and we got what we ordered, so job done.

Couldn’t even get served let alone try anything !! Three staff behind the bar and not one had a clue about who was next! I let the first two go by the third I’m now feeling ignored and served around for a reason ?? but held on in there finally straw a new customer came up BESIDE ME and their served next !! I’m. DONE… even a half decent member of staff KNOWS who’s next and will Communicate where they are in line .. but to be deliberately Served round was downright rude!

Arrived for evening meal . Manager arranged a table upstairs which was nice of her . Waitress was pleasant . However the special on menu was far from what was advertised. Scampi in some sort of mashed beans etc , did not work at all , bland and Gordon Ramsay would of rejected it !! . Lasagna was stodgy. Garlic bread dry . No staff to ask for bill . Went downstairs and could of walked out . Went to bar and no idea of the order. No communication between staff upstairs and down .

We visit The Swan probably once a month for breakfast and generally it is good. The staff are forever changing but that is the industry. Today we walked in and asked if we could order food (at 11.28 am). “No not really” was the response. “But you serve all day” I said. “Yes but we stop the breakfast menu at 11.30”. The board on the wall said 11.45, when challenged “we’ve changed it”. At no point were we offered the opportunity of the lunch menu, just zero help or interest, so we left. It wasn’t full (peak season) and hospitality is struggling, in part this is why. We want to support local businesses, but they have to do better.

If the staff hadn't been friendly and helpful (my mother wanted something from the lunch menu), I would have given it a 1. I don't know if the chef (cook) is limited in what he or she can do with the food, but everything was of low quality. When you can make a better burger and jacket potato at home, you start to wonder why you bother going out. What's the point of putting the cheese on the side? Even though I don't know how to cook, I know you grill the cheese at the end. Also, my wife and I have been on the toilet all morning because we ate the "special" burger.

Just come back from staying for two nights not sure what to expect but it was a really clean pub with live music and the rooms are very well presented.The staff were accommodating and helpful and Cathy and Mandy where exceptional went above and beyond to help me as I struggled with the heat and they laid up my room with fans and couldn’t have done enough for me. These two ladies are a credit to the establishment and I hope there employer realises many thanks to all at the hotel we will be back x

Ate here twice. Both times the food was lovely, and a lot better than most pub meals. The food was prepared in a timely manner. It was hot on a hot plate, which is praiseworthy in itself. We had a couple of drinks, which we both thought were expensive which was a shame. The dining area was clean and wasn’t noisy. As I said we ate there twice which is a recommendation

Called in while visiting Wadebridge in the rain. The Swan has an excellent winter warmer menu - only £12.95 for a two course lunch. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. Real value for money.
