The best restaurants serving British food in South West

Went on the 1st june, we walked in and customer service was none existent, just talking behind the till amongst themselves and laughing, until one girl told them to serve us and she said sorry I was having a laugh. Right time n place. While having a laugh they could of cleaned the tables and swapped the floor. Ordered food and she didnt really make much of an effort with us. While waiting alot of customers got ignored and I was shocked. When our number was called out didnt really say much again. Good was ok.... batter was abit over cooked an chips abit anemic... im afraid I wouldn't go back

Excellent garden, playground and atmosphere.

Previously I had come for Sunday Roast and found that they had been both generous in quantity, and in terms of the ingredients high quality. However, more recently we visited and found that the quality had deteriorated and the roasts definitely felt like they had shrinked. In particular both the lamb and beef were far more fatty than previously with quite a bit of gristle and inedible parts. The veg had not been cooked particularly well and nothing sang on the plate. I couldn’t find any mint sauce even though that was promised with the roast lamb. The meals themselves were also not hot - which is a bug bear of many I am sure. I also think it is quite cheeky to not serve starters with some bread when they clearly need some - and they are nearly £10. On the plus side the service was good throughout. All in all I probably wouldn’t come back to eat, which is a pity because the pub is situated in a lovely spot - but you never want to be feel like a place is taking the mickey…

Great experience , popped in for lunch a few times.always great , friendly service.food is fresh and never had any problems, although I always have the pie as it is well yummy.great atmosphere and would recommend for a great lunch.

Very busy, but the staff did an amazing job, catered for our needs nicely, we were expecting a long wait for food because of how busy it was, but our food was presented quickly and quality was great.

Perfect friendly service, incredibly clean and excellent fresh fish and chips! Being a dog friendly restaurant was also really helpful to us. Highly recommend all round.

Absolutely amazing little find, we had the Wednesday special of 2 steaks and 2 desserts. The staff were fantastic and friendly. Will definitely be back for dinner again

We were refused entry today (9 May ) because we arrived in our motorhome!! Told to leave immediately!! Our motorhome cost £145,000,000. We spent £800 at Daylesford last year on a special family meal. How rude, Daylesford Organic you can keep your overpriced wares!!!

Lovely cocktails which we had sat in the garden enjoying the sunshine, perfect Sunday afternoon! Pizzas looked amazing but no GF options which was a shame.

I called to get two portions of cod n chips to be told it’s £17 per portion which is ridiculous ☹️ , just along the road the wheelhouse takeaway in Dartmouth it’s £12.25 . Moral of the story is shop around

We stayed at The Swan for one night on our way to Cornwall. Our room was lovely, bright, quiet and clean. The staff were great, nothing too much trouble, Lucy especially looked after us so well. Will definitely use again when in the area.
