We had Sunday roast yesterday, it seemed like it was not home made, more like 'aunt bessie' potatoes and veg. The only thing that seemed made at the hotel was the Yorkshire puddings and they seemed to have been cooked twice so to heat up for our plate as they were quite brown. It's a great place, but the quality of roast dinner was low.

Can’t fault the room we had - fantastic size with huge bathroom. Nice and clean. Huge bed and blackout curtains. Very quiet couldn’t hear any other guests through the walls. Didn’t eat there. Car park not very big but we didn’t struggle to park each night we were there so can’t complain. Good location

I booked online for my father’s 91st birthday. The staff were great on arrival. We both had the Sunday roast and it was sublime. Cooked to perfection and so tasty. The Yorkshire pudding was huge. Hats off to the chef. This will be my go to place for Sunday lunch in the future and I have recommended that we go back on my birthday.

Can't give 5 stars for my room as a couple of very minor issues. But a proper old style hotel with large dining area, large "pub" room and very large dining conservatory too. Location is right next to the shops and other restaurants etc. The "Yeovil Country Park" , which is lovely for an hour walk through woods, past ponds and falling water, is not 5 minutes walk away down the road.

We stayed two nights here it was clean but very tired my husband was disappointed that it being a green king brewery pub the the I.P.A was off we where there two days and it wasn’t put back on tap . Breakfast was a bit like faulty towers first day we had breakfast about 8.30 the continental breakfast wasn’t replenished I asked for poached eggs with bacon and holidaise sauce it came out just poached eggs on toast so sent back it came back with bacon no holidasie sauce so went back again 3 time lucky it was very good my husband went to get cup of coffee no cups and saucers there he asked the waitress she literally brought out 1 cup and saucer so I had to say i needed one you would think she stands there she would be aware of what needed replenished

Good check in, good ensuite room, very friendly staff. Had a really good meal, reasonably priced, on the evening of arrival, and breakfast on both days was exceptional. The spread they put on for the after-funeral reception was amazing, good variety, lots of it, and frequently replenished. My only adverse comment is the lack of a lift. There is a wheelchair lift from the reception/bar area to the restaurant, but nothing to the rooms above except stairs.

Staying at the hotel. After meeting work colleagues we booked online for main menu at 8:30pm. Was told when we arrived at 8:10pm food had finished so we couldn’t eat. Had to find somewhere else which was hard on a Sunday night. Very disappointed. I would understand if we hadn’t booked online line and got a confirmation of the booking. Very poor service.

Stayed three nights at the Manor over the xmas period whilst visiting family, and it was excellent. The staff are the friendliest, big shout out to Yvonne who assisted with my booking and went above and beyond. As a dog-owner, being able to bring him and be given a specific dog friendly room for a small additional fee was absolutely amazing, rare to find dog friendly hotels! The cooked breakfast was absolutely delicious, the shower hot and powerful pressure, bed super comfy, and the room was always warm and had absolutely everything needed (iron, hairdryer, blackout curtains, TV, tea/coffee, hangers etc) Would definitely recommend and will be back to stay again in future! Fantastic experience!

Didn't book, we were quickly met and seated and told a waitress would take our order, after twenty mins and another couple arriving and their order being taken, we asked a wandering waitress if she would care to take our order, and ordered drinks and main course, eventually both were served eaten and plates removed, requested dessert menu and that was it - no one came for our order it was now one and a half hours since arrival, and we were out of time. We paid the male table cloth folder and occasional waiter at the bar, collected our coats and left - unacknowledged. Felt we were invisible, staff had zero coordination and we would have still been waiting to order desserts at closing time. Also since when does one cook the BBQ Sauce on chicken melt - it's added afterwards not baked! Having been there several times we always ask why did we go again - answer it was the only one of three Green Kings in town with spare tables - is it any wonder!

This is a very good bar/restaurant. Service is very good. Bar service very good. Staff pleasant and helpful. I take exception to one single item. I only had one course Chicken and Ham pie chips and vegetables with a soft drink. The pie was excellent but for a business based on The Green King brewery in the heart of the British potato growing countryside ( near where I grew up) and served in a restaurant in the heart of another key agricultural area to serve chips made of compressed potato powder rather than potatoes is heresy and does it’s loyal local customers and suppliers a disservice. As the menus in most Green King Restaurants are the same at any one time this smacks of management and ordering by spreadsheet rather than quality. In other words the accountants are running the kitchens. Replace a few of them with kitchen staff.

I was hoping for better, thinking that the management may read some of the reviews about the rooms. I guess they don't act on them. I was in a single room that was above the kitchen. I accept it was a bit noisy. But the room was so run down - the shower was small and hadn't had a good clean in a long time, the general decor was so bad, I couldn't believe they allowed this room (11) to be used. The room layout was dated with the toilet separated, shower separated and wash basin in the room. The carpet and clean bed were the only good features - really! The restaurant is the complete opposite with good food, pleasant staff and good service. I won't be returning

This hotel is in dire need of some care and attention, and that is a shame because the staff were really lovely and the food was cooked well and nicely presented. We appreciate that a full refurbishment would be expensive but a days work and some paint would improve the look of our bathroom with is chipped paint, broken loo roll holder and rotting mouldy windows. It was the same story in the restaurant with chipped paint on the radiators and sticky tables caused by a spray which damages the varnish. Change the spray or repaint the tables or use cloths in order to stop drinks and menus sticking. Our room was up in the attic and was not an easy climb for an 80 year old whose wife has a heart condition. We are sorry not to be positive because all the staff did their best to make our stay pleasant and were very helpful.

Probably the worst Sunday roast I have ever experienced. The beef was like three rashers of bacon, thin and fatty. The roast potatoes were quite obviously frozen, the gravy was like Bisto. Whilst I was understanding of the fact we were eating a little late on the day (4.30) there was no turkey left, no carrots left. One small floret of broccoli accompanied with some bland, no colour parsnip. My friend asked for an extra Yorkshire pudding due to vegetable shortage and it was added to the bill as an extra! Another disappointment was everything was plated up for you. What you saw was what you got. No opportunity to add a little extra veg or avoid something you didn’t like. The waitress was great however as was the rum. Not my cup of tea, unlikely I would return based on my experience.

Have been here before on a few occasions and found it pleasant and good service. However yesterday was disappointing. On arrival we were told the conservatory was rather hot would we like to eat elsewhere so I asked about the dining room where we had eaten previously but told that wasn't possible as was laid up for breakfast the following day. So we are now in the bar. I asked for them to clear a table. Chose our meal and went to order. Because of the bad WiFi signal could not pull up a discount code as the app didn't open. I was told that the WiFi is always crap. So I ordered food and drinks anyway. Lasagne came out dry and overcooked. Our drinks still not received and now half way through our meal although there were no customers at the bar at that point (and 3-4 staff) so I went up and asked what I ordered and apologised. When the drinks arrived they were wrong. Have been there about 8 times over last few years and found the staff so helpful and the food good. What went wrong? New staff? New management?

I was staying in the hotel overnight and had to book a table by 7.30pm at the latest. The Manor restaurant is housed in a large airy conservatory next to the Ashdown Suite (presumably named after the former Yeovil MP Paddy Ashdown) for wedding receptions. Huge portraits of Victorian worthies sat cheek-by-jowl with the huge yellow inflated numbers two and five commemorating a birthday reception at a table towards the rear. There is a view over an attractive garden towards more substantial late Victorian properties in this the more sedate quarter of Yeovil in contrast with the somewhat run down town centre. The food I ordered was of superior pub quality of the type available in most Wetherspoons. I started with a ‘vegan’ tomato soup. What tomato soup is not vegan I wondered. A sirloin steak served medium rare with onions tomatoes and a peppercorn sauce was a tad chewy. An ice cream and fruit sundae was an unnecessary indulgence.

Stopped here for a last minute lunch. Luckily they had availability. The roast dinner was amazing, great to have beef and turkey roast and my partners pie was also very good. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. We’re very glad we stopped here for a bite.
