The Channings Hotel Restaurant in Bristol, City of

Me and my partner love the Channings and visit every time we are in the local area. The building is beautiful and Dan and the team always make us feel welcome including our dog who always gets a little treat which he has become quite accustomed too. The pub is also impeccably clean and every single time we have food it’s absolutely delicious and very good value for money. I am very much looking forward to some warmer weather so we can sit outside in their spacious garden. Thankyou to everyone who remembers our names and makes us feel special every time we visit, it really is appreciated.

Sara and the whole team always looks after us would highly recommend. Jaz is also one of the most attentive staff. Guiness is amazing.

Fantastic pub with a vibrant atmosphere. We celebrated my 47th birthday and had a cracking night! Special thanks to Lucy at the bar for being very friendly and pouring the best pints of Guinness all night long! Will definitely be back soon.

what a fantastic venue... its bloody lush i was here the other week, visiting my friends and they suggested going to the Channings for a cheeky pint and i was pleasantly surprised, nice menu choices, plenty to choose from, i went for the loaded fries and they were stunning. The staff are lovely too, the supervisor with lots of tattoos and black hair really made our visit here the best, Kayla i think her name is, she was so welcoming and funny also id like to mention taylor as she was very friendly and accommodating . i will definatly be returning again soon. :)

I met a friend for a drink. I had to stand at the bar for over 5 minutes while the girl slowly made a basic latte. Finally someone else come over, no apology for the ridiculously long wait, I ordered a Blue Moon in bottle 330ml. I was handed the bottle, no glass, no orange slice. And then charged £5.70!!! Insane. Don’t go here. Don’t support them. Awful service and even worse prices!!!

Great local spot for some lunch, there is a selection to choose from for a local affordable lunch menu which includes a drink. Staff are always friendly and the building is absolutely stunning.

Great service and massive beer garden! The manager Bradley was great with us enquiring about the function room.

Amazing building and good quality food. We had a function recently and from the start to the end was amazing. Buffet food was top quality and Bradley was a credit.

I was served by a bar staff called siddha, her service was amazing and knew her stuff when it came to alcohol!

Great poker nights here on Tuesdays. Large team and staff are always friendly and welcoming. Food is affordable and quick.

I’m a regular here and every time I come im always greated by Bradley who makes everyone feel so welcomed!

Tried it for Sunday roast. Wished we hadn’t . Food was very poor quality and initially came out cold. For an inexpensive Sunday roast you’d be better off going to a local carvery. However the service was good and the manager apologized for the meals and refunded our bill . Wouldn’t recommend for food but it looks like an ok place for a drink with a good sized beer garden. They have large screen for Footy / sports .

Absolutely beautiful building with inside furniture matching . A hidden gem. With friendly staff and spacious interior it is a good place for groups and small parties. I love being here

Very friendly staff, nice wide selection of breakfasts on offer including cooked. Rooms are tired and dated however for the money we spent and the location we were in we felt it was good value for money. Many thanks to the manager Bradley for helping with our luggage on arrival and knowledge of the local area.

I had the pleasure of dining at Channing’s around Christmas, and it was truly a delightful experience. The decorations inside were absolutely beautiful, and the grand Christmas tree added such a warm and festive touch. The staff were incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. It was a lovely way to celebrate the season.

Information for Dog owners - The Channings hotel in Bristol - say they are a dog-friendly hotel. They are not. Dogs are not allowed to stay in the hotel. You need to make this clear on your site Channings hotel. You are misleading people. *REPLY to Channings hotel* - where is it 'clearly stated on your website' as you suggest? As the front page photo I uploaded shows, it says clearly: Channings Hotel - and below it: 'Dog friendly". You're concerned about hotel clientele being allergic, but not restaurant clientele being allergic? All I am doing is letting people know so they are not misled, like I was.

Beautiful location in the heart of Clifton, very close to all kinds of amenities. Very good range of beers and ales and the food quality is very good for a Greene King.

The food was fantastic they were happy to cater to my friends allergy really well staff were really knowledgeable. The new kitchen team are excellent and super speedy! Megan and Bradley were outstanding Monika too

Lovely pub nestled in clifton. the building has plenty of character with hotel rooms above. The pub was really busy when I was here but I was well looked after and the atmosphere was very pleasant. the pub has 2 bars and a large garden. the lower bar shows all sports and has a pool table. I had the Fish and Chips which was beautifully cooked and was great value for the area. the team were very friendly too! cant wait to come back again

Totally neglected, the rooms were very old, my room couldn't even be closed, you had to slam the door to close it and when we returned the cleaning service hadn't closed it properly and only by pushing it opened. If you go in summer and it's hot, it doesn't have air conditioning, just a rather noisy fan. The rooms are large and the bed is comfortable, but in general everything is very old and neglected, peeling walls, dirty curtains, old and dirty carpet as well. Of course for the price there are many better options in Bristol

Came in on a Sunday for some food. Relaxed atmosphere, great choice of food and drink. Service was very good. Would definitely recommend. Tacos were really good.

Great service and top quality roast dinner for the price paid. Our server, the new manager was an asset to the team, made sure our food was ok and got us some extra sauces with our roasts.

Oh dear, where to begin. We came before an event locally. The pub wasn’t busy, and 4 or 5 bar staff on the bar. Ordered food, and nothing appears 20 minutes later. Went to the bar, to ask when we might expect food. The staff seemed confused, turns out order hadn’t gone through ‘as the kitchen printer was out of paper’! I asked when it might be ready, and told 15 minutes. 20 minutes, still no food! Again return to the bar, and no one can say how long. I now need to cancel the order to get to event. Takes 10 minutes for manager to sort out the tab! No apology from the grumpy manager, although one bar staff was lovely. I know things can go wrong, but talk to your customer, and if it’s gone wrong, don’t sulk!
