Love this pub- the food’s great, the wait staff are lovely and it’s very family-friendly, with a nice outdoor play area and beer garden. It can get a little noisy inside when busy but well worth it for their Sunday roasts and their excellent puddings!

The Sunday roast is epic, the best roast dinner in Bristol and maybe the best roast I’ve ever had! I went in during the week and the menu is quite limited and the food was pretty standard but omg the Sunday roast - insane!! Can’t wait to go back!

Almost great. The climbing frame is warn out so my son can't climb up the slope. 10 mins work to fix with some battons, like a chicken coup ladder. The pizza is almost great, but unfortunately the oven isn't cleaned properly between pizzas so there is always loads of burnt bits stuck to the bottom. Really strong burnt taste. They just need a quick sweep every few pizzas and it would be 10 times better pizza. Also, the pine nuts are always burned black. Cover them with cheese or put them on half way through the cook. @staff, please start looking at the underside before you serve! Gross!

Booked a table for 18.30 and was promptly seated, then forgotten about! Half to three quarters of an hour later, my friend went to the bar to enquire about menus and was told "yeah, they're over there" and pointed to where they were located. She picked up three, as that's all that was there and had to ask someone from another table if we could use theirs, for the fourth person in our party. Very small menu. Went to look for the specials board, to find that there wasn't one! As the menu was so limited, most of our party went for the small dishes. We were told when we went to the bar to order (couldn't possibly afford us table service!) that there wasn't any aioli, so we went for plain mayo, then around 15 minutes later, we were informed that although two of our party had ordered the prawns, that there was in fact, only enough for one portion, so I swapped to the whitebait, again with no aioli. The food came out some time later, except mine, (a portion of chips and the whitbait) which came out 5 mins or so after everyone elses. An older couple came in and sat at the table next to ours and were immediately brought drinks over and handed menus. Then after a while, the chap came and took their food order! I don't know if they were regulars, but it didn't give a good impression. The food was good to be fair, although I struggled to find much smoked haddock in the smoked haddock fishcake and they try to make out they are some sort of flash eatery by advertising their "on the vine, Isle of Wight tomatoes," correct me if I'm wrong, but don't all tomatoes grow on a vine?! All in all a very disappointing experience and I can definately say that we won't be returning.

Went for dinner and had booked. There were lots of empty tables but had not been cleared from previous customers who’s eaten. Only 2 staff serving so long waits, when the food came we asked for more drinks but told we had to go to the bar ourselves, the q was long and only 1 person serving so we ate and left. Overall really disappointed with the service, lack of interest from those working. Food was nice though. The westbury park pub is much better for service. Really sad as this could be a great pubs

This review is NOT about the lovely young staff and young managers, or the quality of the food. The judgement is about the beer. It has been awful for days and it is down to the temperature in the cellar and lack of attention given to all that is functioning down there, I suspect. I am a regular, local and a member of Camra. I know that someone with experience needs to be regularly making checks down in the cellar. It is a conversation I have often had in pubs around the Southwest and have been impressed by the care and attention other landlords /landladies give to this. Obviously most money is made here from the food and functions and they do a great job in this area. Perhaps the locals and regulars that spend money on drinks but not food are less important (although the young staff seem to value us and are welcoming). Don’t let it stop you from visiting this pub if you don’t drink beer and love a fab homemade pizza!

We got 1 chicken roast and one veggie lentil roast. Chicken was delicious. Veggie lentil roast was too salty for my taste but otherwise lovely! Great atmosphere, beautiful pub, friendly staff. When booking, it's made clear that you only have the table for 1 hour, which made us feel rushed as our lunch arrived 30 mins in. Staff didn't mention the 1 hour limit, so I don't know if this is just something put on the online booking or something that is enforced during busier times. Will happily return.

Been a few times and really love the pub. The garden is amazing and the inside is lovely. Unfortunately the food is expensive and varies wildly. It has recently gotten particularly bad as the portions have shrunk. They have experimented a few times with the venue (for a while they were trying to push tapas) but they really need to focus on classic pub food that is either better quality or a better price. At the moment it's definitely not worth going to eat but I really hope they work it out and hope this review helps push them to better food.

Absolutely shockingly bad!!! Waited at our table to order, in the end went to the bar and tried to attract the attention of one of the 5 gormless staff who were talking amongst themselves, waited 45 minutes for starters listening to the toilet door and door to outside area banging constantly. Starter finally came - burnt king prawns, stale focaccia and overcooked cold whitebait, one minute into our starter the mains came???? We were told we had to have it now or it would go cold in the kitchen. Burger was tiny, burnt and rock hard, we declined to eat any of it, I paid for our drinks and we left vowing never to return again - don’t go!!!!

This used to be my local but unfortunately a recent trip here has resulted in me not returning. Wheelchair and pram access was locked even though we had arrived 2 hours after the pub opened. Rude customer service when asked for help. When asked another member of staff to unblock and unlock the 3 access points, her reply was an unfriendly ‘well you could’ve just asked for help’ instead of any apology. Nobody should be made to feel like they are an inconvenience. Food is good but absolutely not worth returning based on the poor customer service and experience.

Not wheelchair friendly, nor pram friendly if that's the case. In our case staff were rude and should react better to customers requesting assistance with access. Me and my partner recently moved to the area and decided to give this place a try. We were warmly welcomed by the front of house team. After taking our seats and checking the menu we wanted to give the small plates a try for something different, this would give us the opportunity to try multiple dishes without wasting food. We tried the; Foccacia, buttermilk chicken tenders, Crispy ham hock, Monkfish kebab and the standout dish was definitley the scallops served with parsnip puree and sherry caramel. I highly reccomend visiting to taste this food yourself as my words will not do it justice.

Must admit having a disappointing visit today. Call in for a snack and a drink at lunchtime. Having been told that they did not do sandwiches or rolls , we chose the Pork Pie from a rather overpriced menu sheet. At £7 each I was expecting something more than a pie slither of cheese, smallest piece of onion a relish- some crisps or crackers would have helped make the presentation somewhat. Whilst I cannot fault the ales offered - these too were priced at the top end for an out of town pub. As always, the pub was very clean and staff very welcoming.

I've been here a couple of times over the past few years. Overall it is a really pleasant experience. Friendly atmosphere, staff are polite and attentive, and there is a lovely outdoor area with a pizza oven. It's quite picturesque. It has a relatively small menu, but in my experience that's a positive thing. They're more focused on the quality of the dish. The bigger the menu, generally, the more rushed the final product is. In this particular visit I ordered the fish and chips. What is seemingly a basic choice, it was delicious. If you're unsure of the more out there choices on the menu, this is a fantastic safe option for fussy eaters. The overall atmosphere is casual but classy. The menu and prices reflect somewhat of a place thats a bit more on the fancy side. I do think the prices are a little steep for what it is to where I wouldn't return on a regular basis, however for every now and then as a treat, I would recommend visiting.

As a local resident, my family and I have often visited the Eastfield over the past 7 years since moving to Henleaze. There has been transition, and thankfully the pub survived the covid induced lockdowns. I can honestly say that it has improved a great deal since then, the menu and food has gone up to a different level and the return to an old fashioned pool table and darts in the bowling alley area is fantastic, not to mention the weekly pub quiz. Also, a special mention to a lovely member of staff, Grace, who during our last visit was polite, attentive and funny and really made us feel at home. Visited the pub this evening, have had mixed visits on a few visits, but tonight was the last time I’ll visit. Sat down i n the garden, purchased a wine which was lovely. However, then went to order food and was told we couldn’t get food in the garden. Only ordered cheesy chips, prior to us ordering the waiters passed us delivering food to people also in the garden. Asked the lady why we couldn’t order food to our seat when she was delivering food to every other table in the garden, she replied it was too far to deliver food, despite as I said walking past us to deliver others food. Have prior visited for a large group which has been an absolute shambles. Kids meals arrived an hour after the adults, completely unacceptable. Steak ordered well done arrived rare, sent it back, came back just as rare and cold. Won’t be visiting again unfortunately because the vibe in this pub is nice, good garden, good entertainment, quite a shame really.

Worst treatment ever! Was invited here with family for refreshments after a funeral, there was 25 of us in total, On arrival everyone commented on the smell of fish hitting you in the face, There was no welcome on arrival, nothing was ready just some cups and plates stacked up on a table.. it took a further 45 minutes for food to make an appearance after querying this with staff. The Sandwiches were of poor quality, 1 tray had watery Tuna Mayo, 2nd tray was sloppy red pepper Hummus with a slice of soft red pepper hanging out (never have i ever seen a Hummus sandwich) and the third tray nobody was sure what was in them..best guess was beef/ham or pastrami, cheese and a type of slaw with horseradish/ wholegrain mustard mixed in. We had 4 small children in total 3 of which being toddlers, 1 plate of plain ham sandwiches was the only requirement when booked which where intended for the the children, this wasn’t done apparently it was peppered pastrami..? needless to say none of the children ate these, We had only been there an hour & a bit when we where asked to move everyone away from the bar & into the corner.. when asked why we was told they had another party coming in, we was not told this when booking & in fact was led to believe we could use the area, even after an hour we never seen one other person come into the bar.. (Seemingly because the other quests were better looked after in the other room) We was rudely told we wasn’t watching the children and this was a health and safety issue.. this did upset everyone because it was not the case and seemed like the staff where looking for a reason to be rude. Every parent was with their child at all times, walking up and down with the kids in the area we thought was ok as it was booked.. Please tell me when at any one point was any child left unattended? One of which was asleep in a pushchair at the time & for toddlers who had just sat through a funeral service, id say they was very well behaved, you was advised of young children being there when we booked, From the off we was made to feel unwelcome and got the feeling the manager was not happy with the fact James had agreed a £200 budget for the food, being told we normally charge a lot more, we never agreed on any fillings, we actually chose chips instead of salad, and asked for ham.. we said we would be happy for simple fillings, as for saying we agreed to the chosen Hummus, tuna, beef is a straight out lie! Also saying we would allow kids to “play” behind a bar.. really? My 2 year old made a run for the bar entrance one time and was stopped promptly by myself We was promised it would look nice.. it didn’t , yes it was highlighted to us you normally charged more but you said you was happy to work to our budget and took our money, for this reason we was happy for less, we was happy to have the basic minimum and no one complained but what was served was just a joke and your attitude cost you us not settling the bill The treatment we received for people that have just been to a funeral and in a very emotional state was very unsympathetic We paid £200 for 3 trays of sandwiches and 5 small bowls of chips and 8 hot drinks! We never paid the outstanding £57 for “10% service charge”and £30 for 15 Teas because we wasn’t provided with what was agreed, We made 8 hot drinks from the 2 teapots you provided, not the 15 requested We instead received insults to our children And the service was non existent.. no one checked on us at any point the grand total was supposed to be £257 we already paid £200 upfront otherwise we would of disputed paying anything. The organisers was so embarrassed and upset as it was for her father that had passed and she wanted somewhere the family could all come together and spend the evening, such a disrespectful way to treat guests of a wake.

Looks nice of first appearance, but rude unfriendly staff & don’t seem to like children very much, not professional and over priced!

Have always enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere when coming here for drinks previously, but today was the first day I'd visited for a roast. The staff were so amazing and understanding when I turned up with a reservation for the wrong pub! My partner and I were seated at a table and made to feel like it wasn't a problem at all, and continued to receive really attentive and friendly service throughout our delicious meal! Can highly recommend the roast beef (and obviously cauliflower cheese added on!). I will definitely be back in the future, and will be sure to reserve a table in the correct pub next time!

Old style pub. No food, apart from GREAT rolls. Beer quality exceptional. Generally no kids. Wheel chair accessable. LOTS of spirits choice

We had a truly delightful evening at The Pump House that exceeded all expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed, including our young daughter, who was catered to with the same thoughtful care as the rest of us. The vegan tasting menu was a masterpiece — every dish was creative, thought-provoking, and utterly inspiring. Each course was beautifully presented and full of vibrant, unexpected flavors, showcasing the chef's skill and passion for plant-based cuisine. It was a high-end dining experience that could easily rival any 5-star hotel or renowned vegan restaurant. The prices were extremely reasonable for the quality offered, making it an incredible value. A special thank you to Kerry, who hosted us with a warm and welcoming smile, and to the chef, who took the time to come out and explain the intricacies of each dish, adding a personal touch to our dining experience. We can't wait to return, especially to try the highly recommended vegan Sunday roast! The Pump House has gained new loyal customers in us. We wholeheartedly recommend this venue — the ambiance, service, and food were all impeccable. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening! We look forward to many more.
