Sadly, in our opinion, the Basset Arms has gone downhill. The roast was not good, it took an age to get to us, the vegetables arrived a good 5 minutes after the main plates, the cauliflower/broccoli cheese was very crusty, the roast potatoes were like leather, the chicken portions were very small and the service was poor. It was very disappointing!

Amazing breakfast and wonderful service. We had the pleasure of staying here for 2 nights and enjoyed a delicious dinner on both evenings, pub classics as well as more refined restaurant dishes. Breakfast was also on point each morning and we felt so welcome. 100% recommend and we look forward to booking another trip very soon. Felt extremely sorry for the staff having to deal with an extremely stuck up vegan guest. They have the patience of saints

This pub is lovely. Everyone was so welcoming and really made our weekend memorable. Brett really makes all his customers feel like old friends and we will definitely be back there. Great entertainment on Saturday nights and very reasonably priced. Thanks for a great time Brett and the other staff.

Busy Easter Sunday lunch with 4 generations. Our table service from Caitie was exemplary. Friendly, cheerful, helpful, coped when half our party decamped to an outdoor table due to issues with a nervous dog and a 3-year-old... She really made the day for us.

This pub is simply fantastic!. The lady behind the bar is so warm and friendly and really makes you want to return. The food is wonderful, really good value and super tasty. We now go to Sherborne just to eat here. I can’t recommend it enough !!!!!

Despite living in Tavistock The Mary Tavy Inn has been one of those places we kept meaning to go. Tonight we finally went and wow!! It’s beautiful, super cosy, a total vibe. The staff were brilliant, the food was brilliant. The whole experience start to end was perfect. Highly recommended. We can’t wait for the warmer weather to check out the beer garden.
