Great Sunday roast, massive desserts!

I can't believe what excellent customer service we have experienced with our stay at The White Hart Royal Hotel! Upon arrival they had given us a complementary room upgrade. We've stayed for dinner and it was absolutely top notch. Servers are all super kind and helpful. Quality of food was amazing and felt right at home. Amazing experience.

A lovely place to stay with a really good restaurant . The best thing about this place is the staff . Every single staff member was excellent . Great customer service . We will be back . Thanks

I really wanted to give this place a 5 star review. We ate here a few days ago and the food was amazing. Some of the best I've eaten in ages. Classy food reasonably priced. I had a souffle and the chicken supreme and both were amazing. We went back today though and the soufflé was still fab but the chicken supreme was almost a different dish, the chicken skin wasn't crispy, there was no gravy (although this wasn't on the menu but was served with it last time) and the potato looked like it had come out a massive traybake and was pretty insipid looking. Also I've come home from dinner with an upset stomach so assuming something was maybe not quite right in the way it was cooked. Such a shame as it was so fab the first night and the staff were so lively both times. Not sure if it was just because it was busier tonight as a Saturday or a different chef, but unfortunately really disappointed having been on a huge high after the first meal here.

Lovely North Cotswolds hotel. Well placed to visit the beautiful villages of the Cotswolds. Our experience at The White Hart Royal Hotel was positive. I have added a couple of photos of the locality at Moreton-in-Marsh

Beware!! The front desk at this hotel breached customer trust by overpromising and sugar coating information which was far from reality. They did not follow through. We had booked two rooms and on arrival a front desk member and we aligned that we will use one room and he gave us high confidence that the other room would be refunded. As soon as we came back to US, they all went back on their words and flatly denied refund. Had they told us before, we would have gladly used the other room. This behavior breaches customer trust. Avoid staying here! You never know when you will be cheated.

We ate here last week, the food was excellent, my husband said it was the best steak and ale pie he’d ever had. The staff were so friendly, we would definitely recommend.

Mediocre at best! Trying to be innovative. Very slow service. Simple lamb chops would have been better than the rolled lamb fat! Menu did not change in 3 nights.

We had afternoon tea in the resident lounge (although we were not residing at the hotel) and there were very beautiful decorations and board games to play. The staff were very friendly and respectful, definitely will go there again ✌️

The roast dinner was fabulous. Great portion size. Beef was beautifully tender, vegetables really well cooked. Roast potatoes lovely and crispy. And the chicken and beef burger went down well too. Will definitely be back

Right in the heart of the village. Does a lovely pint and beautiful food and the rooms are nice.

4 of us went for Sunday lunch, after popping in on the Saturday for drinks. 3 had beef and 1 had burger along with a shared Ploughman's and shared souffle and then a shared cheese board and sticky toffee pud. It cost about £70 per couple along with a bouteille du vin blanc and 4 excellent pints of Hooky. Attentive young staff and table service only. All good in my book

Took our daughter for afternoon tea for her birthday, and the staff was so welcoming and made her a special plate beyond the children’s tea menu to make it extra special for her. Everything was delicious and she loved it!

We met our friends from London here for drinks and a meal, they highly recommended the hotel and had a fabulous time. Lovely atmosphere and nice staff. The food was lovely. The hotel is very close to Moretons shops and cafes.

Excellent location in the centre of Moreton in Marsh. Bed one of the most comfortable I've ever slept in. Everything you could need in the room. Worried it might be noisy being situated on the High Street but the only thing that woke us up was birdsong.

Only called in for a breakfast after Cheltenham Races the day before but food & service was great

Very good food, Service was friendly and efficient. Parking on High Street was difficult as Moreton-in-Marsh was busy this weekend.

I had lovely Birthday lunch today. The staff were brilliant and extremely attentive. The food was delicious , beautifully presented .

We stayed for just one night and had a delightful room. The hotel had tremendous history and character. The staff could not have been more courteous and accommodating but by far the most delightful thing was the food in the restaurant. We regularly stay in hotels and the food here has by far the best we have had, the starter,mains and deserts were absolutely superb and not expensive. The wines also were fabulous. We tasted three reds but could hardly choose because they were all so good. All in all it was a wonderful short stay and really delivered what quality hotels aspire to. Well done!

Popped in for lunch. Great menu with some really nice imaginative fare. Food was delicious, service top class. Could not fault our experience and all at a reasonable price too.

My husband and I visited the Snug bar last night with the intention of having a meal to celebrate his birthday. Upon arrival we checked with a lovely young girl behind the bar that they were dog friendly (as we had our labradorJasper with us) she confirmed tthat he was fine to cone in. We sat close to the lovely fire ordered a drink and sat down to have a look at the menu thinking we had found the perfect place to relax enjoy the evening. How wrong we were....after a short while a waiter ( with a scottish accent) approached our table and made a huge fuss about how Jasper was laid next to the table and how he couldn't get to us. He clearly wasn't a dog lover and made us feel most unwelcome with his rude comments and ridiculous hopping around tthe table, presumably in an attempt to make a point that Jasper was taking up some floor space close to the table. I should add that at the time there was only one other person in this part of the bar and Jasper was laid quietly and not blocking any gangway past the table We both work in the leisure industry in customer facing roles and recognised that this is NOT the way to make customers feel welcome. We felt most unwelcome and an inconvenience for daring to have a dog with us. They call themselves dog friendly but the comments and attitude of this particular staff member suggested otherwise! Sadly he managed to ruin what could have been a lovely birthday meal, we will not be returning and took our business to another hotel across the road that know how to treat all their customers!

First off the hotel is like sleeping next to the m25 Secondly despite the gorgeous building and well kept interiors the sound proofing is utterly useless, I got to enjoy my neighbour aboves 6 am wake up and radio every morning The worst was my last night there the people above had the TV so loud I was able to recognise the news, I spoke to the desk and was told it would be sorted but still sitting here listening to the TV Avoid this hotel

Just had an absolutely fantastic stay at The White Hart Royal, had a dog friendly room on the ground floor. Food was excellent with a good choice, sat in the snug where there was a roaring fire going. All the staff were very friendly, ideal location to explore the Cotswolds.

Such a relaxed atmosphere. Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault the accommodation and customer service. Bill and James are so friendly and attentive, went the extra mile to resolve issue. Can't wait to return.

We enjoyed a family Sunday lunch and have been returning here on many occasions. Delicious meals made with great quality fresh ingredients. The Chef is clearly talented and cares about his dishes. This was matched by excellent level of service, friendly and attentive. Highly recommended it. We look forward to our next time.

Met here again for a family birthday with a group of 9 plus a lively toddler. Staff, James in particular, were brilliant on a very busy lunch service, plus a special treat for the 88 year old birthday. All meals were tasty and empty plates tell the story. We live 5 minutes walk from the White Hart and come here regularly - good to see a place continue to do well Thank you all.

Very disappointing…. One of the most beautiful venues in town, however we walked in at 12pm for Sunday lunch. All the staff just totally ignored us, the member of staff that did eventually speak said he didn’t even know if they were serving lunches as “he just got here”… when he walked away for a while and checked he came back with “we are fully booked is what I’ve been told to tell you” even though only 2 tables had reserved signed in and have been set… Such a shame, we went to the black bear and it was beautiful and the staff were lovely not like this in incompetent members of staff!

Dined here last year with great food and fantastic wine menu - NOT ANY MORE. I ordered Hake Fillet @ £24.95 - Coarse grain mustard crushed new potatoes, braised artichoke hearts, fine beans, pancetta & shallots. Sounds nice? I thought so too. What arrived was a piece of fish on crushed new potatoes but the rest? It was swimming in a broth-like soup. The artichokes were not like anything I have ever seen - bullet-like pellets that a knife couldn’t penetrate. I complained to the staff and actually spoke to the hotel manager who was helping out in the bar. He took the item off my bill with the option to order again from the menu which I declined. However, the stock reponse I received from the manager (which is one of the reasons for posting this review) is that “no one else has complained about this dish”. Really? Unfortunately this hotel has become, maybe because of never ending tourists, blasé in the quality of food served daily and there doesn’t appear to be any quality control in place - maybe the staff are over worked or maybe a new chef is needed. Shame. Avoid paying over the odds for mediocre food.

I was a little dubious where to book for my mums 60th celebration due to a number of mixed reviews. I’m so so pleased we booked the White Hart , the service was impeccable, we were really looked after . To start we had the cheese and bacon parcels with chilli jam , bread and whipped butters , halloumi sticks , For mains I had Corn fed chicken with a white wine reduction and the rest of my family had lamb shanks with olives/feta/salsa/tzatziki…. Both dishes were absolutely fantastic, so tasty ! I would highly recommend and as frequent visitors to the Cotswolds , we will most definitely be back soon

My friend and I had our “Sunday Toast” at The White Hart Royal Hotel. We were warmly greeted by James Brown, and made to feel at home. The “Sunday Roast “ exceeded my expectations- absolutely delicious- fabulous presentation. James arranged for a cab for us to go on to Chastleton House after our fine meal. I cannot say enough about the lovely atmosphere of the restaurant, the service, and the food! If you are in Moreton-In-Marsh on a Sunday- go for the “Sunday Roast”, and hopefully you will meet James Brown!

Awful stay. The place is VERY tired. The staff are brilliant but having stayed there 5 times now, we will never stay there again. The quality of the room (304 garden room) was abysmal. Please don’t waste your money here. They have totally ignored my emails and tweets with video evidence. Coaching inn group get your act together, start caring about your guests and stop being a money machine.

Pre-booked as a treat and arrived on time. £16 per person we expected something a little 'special.' First surprise was the 10 minute wait after being offered the bar or an empty lounge to sit. I also expected at the very least a choice of tea to drink. There were finger sandwiches on a mix of white and brown, the white was certainly not the freshest either, perhaps prepared earlier? Bizarrely just one of those had smoked salmon but two cheese and pickle and two cheese and tomato? A fruit scone each of different sizes which came with raspberry jam & cream and bite sized brownie, half a meringue nest, a sliver of cheesecake and possibly a 1/4 of a madeleine sponge. We were in and out within half an hour and that included the 10 min wait. You can see how big the cheesecake was in the top right of the picture with the raspberry on top.Very disappointing and when presented with the bill we asked for the 10% discretionary service charge to be removed (we truely felt that we had not received value in terms of content or service.) This had the effect of not even receiving a goodbye when we left.

We were staying the night so decided to have food at the hotel. Great surroundings and the food was to a very high standard both dinner and breakfast. You can tell that they use local produce, very fresh and very tasty.

We were staying in the hotel and decided to eat in the restaurant both evenings due to the great sounding menu and the AA rosette for food.We were not disappointed - over the two nights we tried 4 mains, a starter and a dessert and they were all excellent - perfectly cooked, very tasty and good value. The first night we were in the large room at the back, the second night in one of the more intimate rooms at the front. The draft cider was Orchard Pig which was great but not such good value at a too high £5 a pint.Service was excellent from friendly and helpful waiting staff.

Called in for a late lunch after a long muddy walk, a traditional place with decor to match. Steak sandwich and tuna melt both very good, exactly what we wanted. My son was extra clumsy and spilt 2 drinks whilst we were there, the staff were fantastic, so understanding and helpful.Would highly recommend.

We chose here for lunch based on their wonderful menu online . We arrived a little early for our table and took a seat in the Snug Bar where we enjoyed some drinks and a chat .Our table was booked for 3pm so at 3:15pm when I could see people had finished eating and just drinking on our table I asked the server if our table was ready . I don’t think it’s unreasonable to accept after 2 hours of a table booking you would be moved to a drinking table so others can enjoy their booking . At 3:20pm we sat and ordered . We sat by the roaring fire which the staff topped up for us and it was wonderfully cosy . We had mini pigs in blankets as a snack whilst we waited for our mains and the warm side plates were a lovely touch . For mains I had the lamb roast special which was lamb rump and my partner has the roast beef . The beef was rare which was perfect for him and I stole a bit which tasted delicious ! My meal was equally as nice ! I probably would have liked a little more cauliflower cheese but it is my favourite . All I would say is when you’re paying £19 for a main meal and you ask for mint sauce you don’t expect to receive 2 sachets of cheap watery stuff . Was such a shame for what was such a lovely meal ! ( I understand this may be due to Covid but my partners horseradish did come out In a little pot ) Just something to consider !Overall very enjoyable x

Cóctel compartido de morralla y cangrejo de río para comenzar desde la sección de bocadillos. Encantador. ¡Y no creas que son pequeños bocados! Mamá tenía truchas y yo rabadilla de cordero. Ambos deliciosos. Lleno de sabor. Nos sentamos en la zona del bar. El servicio fue amable y el entorno lleno de carácter. También tenían una señora que mantenía todo impecable todo el tiempo. Una velada fabulosa.

Me alojé la semana pasada 2 noches, (27 de septiembre en adelante). . . super amigable, fácil y sin complicaciones. Pedimos un cambio de habitación (nuestro problema, no los hoteles, puedo agregar) y obedecieron de inmediato. Buena comida, lugar tranquilo, estacionamiento afuera. . gracias James y equipo, fueron geniales. ,. . ooh y para aquellos interesados :) en estos tiempos extraños, el hotel tenía súper procesos en su lugar. (eso es lo aburrido, pero el hotel debe ser elogiado, es importante, por supuesto)

Mi esposo y yo visitamos hoy para el almuerzo del domingo. Reservamos en línea. Teníamos la mesa perfecta frente al fuego con nuestro perro. Teníamos el pollo asado que venía con un cerdo en una manta, todo estaba delicioso. Todo el personal fue amable y atento. Todo estaba limpio. ¡Definitivamente lo recomendaría!

Start to finish. Staff were great, beer was, Malbec likewise. As an expert in Sunday dinner they smashed it pork fir my wife, chicken for me. Just great food and atmosphere loved it.

Llegamos alrededor de las 3 de la tarde y nos sentamos en uno de los ventanales cerca del bar. Ambos cenaron el domingo que fue fantástico, las patatas estaban especialmente buenas. El servicio fue bueno y no hubo que esperar demasiado para tomar una copa. Las pautas de Covid son claras y el lugar parecía muy limpio. Visitamos nuevamente para tomar algo la noche siguiente y tuvimos la misma experiencia. Definitivamente uno de los mejores lugares de la zona. Volveremos

We stayed for one night while travelling through, but wish we could have stayed longer. Our room was great - spacious, clean and with all the facilities and even little extras like bars of chocolate Breakfast was good - fruit to start and eggs royal, which was delicious. The staff were friendly and attentive. We happened to stop on a Monday night and Tuesday was market day which was nice to have a look around. It would have been nice to have had time for evening drinks in the lovely courtyard garden. So, we may have to come again.

We chose to eat here on our last night of our short midweek stay in the town as it looked so nice walking past previous days.From being greeted at the door to everyone that looked after us we found a very warm welcome which we enjoyed. The menu choice and drinks options had something for everyone . We booked our table in the restaurant section which has nice interior feeling cosy and warm . although the bar area would have been another good option. Service was perfect all evening. Thanks

We’ve all had a wonderful weekend staying here - so very well looked after by all the staff who are all good humoured, friendly & charming without exception. Ate here on Friday evening & breakfast over the weekend - all delicious it seems regardless of choice of dish. Upgraded the room from a standard which was well worth it as had a lovely courtyard view & was very quiet. Hope to come back again soon.

We were staying at another hotel, but called in for a mid afternoon drink and quickly became attached to the place.Very friendly staff and super efficient service. After a couple of days, the staff recognised us on our daily 4.00pm visit and gave us a warm welcome.We had dinner in the restaurant which was superb and ran like clockwork due to the maitre d'.Special mention to the waitress who introduced my husband to Camden Town lager, the lovely guy behind the bar and the amazing Covid Champion keeping us all safe.We will return to stay at the White Hart next time - great hotel.

Arriving in Moreton-in-Marsh on Sunday 23rd August for a three night stay across the road, at the Redesdale Arms, we were looking for a Sunday roast. Part of our enjoyment of a trip is exploring different dining venues so we rarely eat at the same place twice. We were already booked for dinner at the Redesdale on Tuesday, so wanted to try somewhere else. At 1:00pm we popped our heads into the White Hart on the off-chance they might seat us at 5:30. They were able to accommodate us and said that, even if they were out of the Sunday Roast menu by then, some of the other items on the menu are very similar to a roast. When we arrived, they seated us in the bar area, which was fine with us as it had a cosy atmosphere. We half expected the roasts would be gone but I had the loin of pork and my partner had the honey roast chicken. Both dishes were excellently presented and cooked to perfection. The pork was flavoursome and so soft and tender. I had a taste of my partner’s chicken, which I’d usually avoid as a bland choice of meat, but it was more delicious and succulent than any chicken I can remember tasting. We then shared the peanut butter iced parfait which my partner said was the tastiest dessert she’d ever eaten (and we eat out a lot). Although our dinner across the road, two nights later, was exceptional, I would definitely recommend dining at the White Hart. Our food was delicious and the service was attentive, helpful and friendly.

Sat in the courtyard, the Covid precautions were good and felt safe. The staff were lovely and attentive .Food was good and fresh. Being dairy and wheat intolorant it can be a pain but was fine here and I had gluten free fish and chips so that was a big bonus.

Service was good, friendly, lovely building. Food choices were limited and disappointing. Fish was small and had soft, oily batter, chips were anaemic, portions were small overall. Onion rings tasted good, but again quite greasy. Dessert of peanut butter ice cream biscuit thingy was bland. OK, but I expected more..

We did not have a booking, asked at reception if a table for two was available, and they found us one, asking us to clean hands on way to restaurant, good distancing from others, and a very relaxed atmosphere, food was excellent and our waitress Charlotte, made the evening....would return

Really really nice food in a gorgeous setting. Not expensive or stuffy, and a good selection of dishes. The service was exceptional, despite it being busy. Can’t fault this restaurant.

Visited the hotel for afternoon tea, the hotel is very nice and situated in the centre of town. The set up for social distancing is done correctly and tables set apart. The afternoon champagne tea was very nice but could of had a little more sandwiches.

We were a little concerned about the bad reviews when friends asked to meat them here. I can assure you we need not have worried. Excellent food and service, so much so we went again the next day. The weather was in our favour so on both occasions we sat in the courtyard surrounded by the historic Cotswold stone hotel and stables. The attention to detail in adhering to Covid guidelines was second to none. Would highly recommend.

We have walked around the little town and searching a place for dinner. Then we ordered baked trout, Rumo steak and a side dish with two drinks. I like the fish and the service is okay. The bill was £47.

Very friendly accommodating staff. Nice pub atmosphere. Lovely beer garden. The food is good The burgers and roasts were nice. Puds are delicious. The hotel looks very nice and will give it a go next time in Moreton.

Came here for a meal on the 12th for evening meal, what a shock!!! Starters arrived of sharing tapas which was the best part of the meal, only had one plate so had to ask for another, mains came I had chicken breast with chicken leg bon bon and charred potato,chicken was dry and un seasoned the charred potato was tasteless the bon bon was wrapped in a cabbage leaf that was tough what was supposed to be a filling of chicken leg was not chicken it tasted like smoked salmon with dill...inedible, my wife chose the rump steak medium rare and chips, we had to ask for a steak knife then waited five minutes as no chips arrived the waitress said the chef forgot ????? Thought it couldnt get any worse until my berry sundae with crushed meringue and whipped cream, a scoop of vanilla and strawberry ice cream with a crushed meringue nest with half a solitary strawberry and a raspberry doesnt constitute a sundae especially when it arrives with no whipped cream, £7 for something my 6 year old nephew could have done better, I returned it only to hear the chef shout " oh Boll@cks" as again he knew hed forgot, couldnt fault the service as wasnt their fault.

Recent stay for couple nights with our dog.Lovely building and garden/courtyard to sit out to eat/ drink in, dog friendly too.Staff very polite and nothing’s too much trouble. Clean and well managed.Food choice was limited though and probably could have been cooked better, although the weekend was very hot and busy therefore may have affected quality.Room was clean, nice little thought of dog bag containing chews and treats with provided dog bowl which was a nice touch. Rooms probably could do with updating, stayed with coaching inn group quite a lot and this may not be the best but still nice.

Disappointing meal wouldn’t recommend such a shame.....however the staff were very friendly and couldn’t do enough.

Had Sunday dinner at the white hart. Freindly staff , lovely to sit outside on a very warm evening. Sunday dinner served till 9 at night and was lovely. Bit of an issue with the dessert as ordered by it never arrived , also ordered a coffee again never arrived. Asked a waiter who went to find out what at happened and the coffee eventually arrived but still no dessert and when we asked for sugar again no sign. Eventually gave up and left the coffee . Staff apologised, but felt that if they had been told of an issue the restaurant manager should have come and checked everything was in order. That said the meal itself was lovely so wouldn't put me off going again.

•We only called in for a pint of Hells and a glass of Prosecco. Which were both reasonable priced. The service was very attentive. We hadn’t booked , however they accommodated us very quickly. We had a lovely table in the courtyard which was steamed with fairy lights. •We had a lovely chat with the manager who was serving us. Next time we’re in the area we would definitely plan ahead and book a room and food. •Lovely venue , who have set in place COVID19R&R; orders and bookings via an App service;tables set out with social distancing precautions;Mask advised when inside; one way system in place. • A nice romantic and relaxing setting for a couple.

Visited on Friday with friends for post lockdown lunch.Ate in the courtyard, which was very pleasant. Service was a bit slow once we had been seated, as no one came to take even a drinks orders for quite a while.Once we ordered, drinks and our sandwiches came out in good time. Served by a professional and friendly young lady (sorry didn’t get your name- with long blonde hair).Food and drinks were an average price, well presented, and enjoyable.Felt safe that covid was being addressed. Would recommend a visit here.
