I visited the MBB brasserie and was incredibly impressed by the exceptional service and the food. I met with the lovely Manager Ionela who was simply charming and helpful. Additionally I was served by Ciaron, Antonina and Samira, all of whom were so polite and welcoming. I would heartily recommend this fine establishment.

We received a truly warm welcome from Veronica on our arrival. She is so friendly and helpful. A real asset to this fabulous hotel. The hotel is situated in the town, perfect location for shopping, restaurants, and going out and about. Parking was very reasonably priced in the carpark. The hotel carpark is very small and has to be booked. The room was spacious, with a comfortable bed and a large bathroom. We liked that it had a bath with a shower. Plus, armchairs to sit and read. A tiny issue was the wardrobe. You can't hang anything long inside easily because of the mini fridge and safe. But there was an iron and board available in the room. The service we received from all staff was exceptionally high, especially in the brasserie. The quality of food is fantastic, everything is presented superbly, and it tastes delicious. We got the impression staff are very happy working here, and we could feel it in the way we were treated with such kindness. A very memorable trip, thank you.

Avoid if you don't book. We went on the 15th September for lunch and we were told by a lady they were fully booked when 75% of the restaurant was empty. Plenty of tables empty. Really ??? We have eaten there in the past and the food is good however we won't be back after this experience.

Ok food. Below average service. The food was ok though not freshly made as had all gone a bit stale. No issues with that. However lots of niggles from cracked cups, chipped tea pots, water jug full of dirt! Seriously it was filthy, no one asked if we’d like another drink…it’s just not great. It’s not cheap and I wish I’d just gone to a local cafe. Service is just poor.

Always a good spot for work meals and get togethers ,had dinner in the brasserie followed by some light hearted drinks afterwards at the bar ,everything was excellent, from the food to the cocktail exhibition put on for us we felt welcomed as always, such polite staff ,our waiter keiran was funny and made our night better with witty humour that made us feel more in place than any other of usual meet up spots. not to forget our eventual cocktail masterclass by the bartender Oliver who showed off to the fullest making all kinds of concoctions that could not have been any tastier ,the attention to detail at the Kings head continues to surpass all expectations every time without fail

Our stay at the hotel was thoroughly enjoyable. A combination of seeing friends nearby, and celebrating my wife's birthday. A personal touch of a hand-written note and chocolates from Joanna and her team was a lovely touch, and much appreciated by my wife. A distinctly 'character' hotel with retained period features consumate with a 16thcentury Coaching Inn, added to the oveall ambiance. A good selection of menu choices in the restaurant for the evening meal whether you went a-la-carte or fixed price. Breakfast also provided a good selection of both cooked, and/or continental offerings. The positioning of the hotel with ease of access to the vast array of shops, in the town centre is reflective of the pricing, but we found the staff, polite and accommodating, and would not hesitate to recommend.

A beautiful spot in the centre of a beautiful place. The staff are the most friendly team I have had the pleasure to meet. They cannot do more for you and are so polite. Our room was an unexpected surprise, large and well equipped. Comfortable bed, lovely spacious bathroom and lots of little flourishes which made our stay extra special. We celebrated our ten year anniversary here and were greeted with a lovely handwritten note and some delicious choccos. The breakfast, oh my! Such a vast array of quality pastries, cereals, juices, meats, cheeses…. And the full English was locally sourced scrumptiousness. Highly recommend. Will not dissapoint.

What a wonderful stay. Massive thank you to Jo, for going the extra mile to make sure all my needs were cared for. I have MND and use a wheelchair, I can walk a very small distances but require help. Jo made sure there was a shower chair in my room and grab handles on the wall, the room was beautiful, it had one step into the bathroom but that was perfectly manageable for me and there was space in the room to get around in the chair. Every single member of staff were fantastic, attentive and polite, even helping us with luggage to our car. We had evening meal in the restaurant and breakfast in the morning and the food was excellent. I couldn't find a fault. Beds were comfy and both myself are my friend had a great nights sleep. Thank you everyone for a lovely experience.

I have to start by saying this is clearly a lovely hotel and many other people have had a brilliant experience. My room was £150 a night which to me is a decent amount but I was going to a wedding so wanted somewhere nice to stay. The bed had two mattresses stuck together so you could feel a firm ridge down the middle where they join. When I used the shower on the day of the wedding it was cold - obviously these things can happen but it was incredibly disappointing. It took me a long time to get through to reception to let them know (they were very busy with checkouts). By that point I had to get ready and leave. When I got back to my room after the wedding my room key didn’t work so I had to go back to reception to get it fixed. When I went back to my room it didn’t work again so I had to call them to get me into the room. Also the view from the window was just a brick wall and I could see directly into the room next door. Overall I didn’t have the best experience but it seems like other people did so maybe I was just unlucky

Popped in with my wife for a pre-dinner drink. I ordered a dark cherry rum with coke and a Cotswold dry gin and tonic. 10 minutes later, it still hadn't arrived. So I watched the bar staff serve other people and after another 5 minutes, I asked for a refund because we had a restaurant booking.Only to see a notification from my bank that he'd charged me again!!! So I went back in and asked for a full refund of both charges. I said to the barman that it wasn't good enough only for him to mutter an apology under his breath. But it didn't sound sincere and no explanation of what went wrong. As I can't review the quality of the drinks, the service was diabolical but the ambience was lovely. Hence the 1 star. If you go here, then I hope you have better luck than we did so don't be put off.

A truly exceptional hotel. I stayed here over the Christmas period and managed to book a good deal for a standard king room last minute (literally 2 days before my arrival on Christmas Eve). The price was much cheaper than the standard advertised price. The room was lovely. Modern and yet felt historical complete with a small private patio to sit and unwind under the stars. The service was excellent throughout the stay, and there were some lovely touches, such as the manager leaving a handwritten personalised Christmas card to myself in the room. Also, I had ordered a cheese platter for one, but the chef accidentally prepared a platter for two, but the hotel kindly charged me for the one instead. The hotel was tastefully decorated with the perfect amount of festive decorations. The location was excellent...right in the heart of Cirencester in Market Place. All in all, I can't fault this hotel. An excellent choice...highly recommended!

2 night stay bed an breakfast. Room stifling as soon as walked in with the tiniest window that opened a few inches. Tried turning air conditioning on. Came on for a couple of seconds then went straight off. Spoke with receptionist next morning. Said would speak to house keeping and supplied us with a stand alone fan. The air conditioning was never fixed. Paid for bed an breakfast. Waited 35 mins after being seated for our order to be taken. Breakfast was served which was lovely but again had to wait a good while for milk to be bought out for our coffees. No teaspoons so just used a knife to stir. Second morning, service was quicker. Breakfast and coffee ordered at the same time. Never received the coffee. We Was never told that only the continental breakfast was included in the bed a breakfast charge so upon checking out we paid an additional £54 for 3 hot breakfasts. We would have ate elsewhere on the second day if this had been known to us as the service was poor the day before and probably would have got a better meal and service at a cheaper price elsewhere. Instead of paying twice for breakfast. Would not make a return visit.

Wee cheeky weekend away, hotel beautiful, service outstanding, rooms large and very comfortable, great shower and you can bring your dog. Only 4/5 as the room was hot so we had the windows open and it was quite noisy when the pubs/clubs emptied then early start for the market set up (there is air con but that’s a bit noisy too.) Cirencester is a beautiful town one of my favourites , plenty to see and do.

The entrance, off the main square, is through a beautiful double glass door with many large candles in large glass lamps placed on the floor on both sides, creating a delightful effect. The hotel has been decorated with a predominance of browns, beiges, creams and greys. Well designed, albeit not to my taste. The hotel is well staffed by teams of well-trained, smiling staff who are very pleased to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. Our room was an Indulgent Room on the third floor. It was very spacious, with the hotel 'colour scheme', and was very comfortable, with views out over Market Street. The breakfasts were first class, freshly cooked, and with a huge buffet of continental choices. Parking at the hotel is very limited, but the Waterloo car park is a 3-minute walk away, and it uses a system that allows funding of next-day parking. We were very pleased to have had a restful and luxurious 3-day stay.

So the hotel has great potential - its a lovely place with a few really large vaults. Firstly, as others have stated, the rooms stink of drains. You initially think it's not that bad. We woke up, and it was pretty awful - we just wanted to leave the room as fast as possible - it actually made us feel quite unwell The spa which we tried was OK- other than the fact they have domestic stlye baths in there that don't appear to be filtered and the water smelt. Not to mention, they kept the lights down low purposefully since there was mould everywhere. Massage was OK Food- very poor - the breakfast was boardline edable but EVERY person present whom ordered a full full English left most of it. How hard is it to not have bacon with ribbons of uncooked fat. The mbb restaurant below average - I had steak for £32 which was basically a minute steak about 1cm think and luke warm. Extremely overpriced for what you get and worse than anything you could get at a harvester. The service, however, was great. I won't be back and for the prices this would have been (we luckily had a voucher) it's terrible!!

When visiting a friend, we have stayed twice in this hotel and eaten in the restaurant once. We booked a deluxe room both times and were not disappointed, other than the somewhat musty drain smell on one occasion. The rooms are large and well equipped. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was very good indeed. Our evening in the restaurant was also very good (we had steaks) and the service was friendly and efficient. There is no on-site parking, so it is a short walk to the nearest car park and a drop off point at the front door.

We were staying on one of the hottest nights of the year and decided we didn't have the energy to venture back outside after some very nice cocktails in the lovely bar area - despite being a chef down and a hen party to cater for (in a private room), front of house were very helpful and got us a table. There was no pressure to over-order - we weren't that hungry with the heat and just ordered two starters and then cheese and dessert - everything was perfectly cooked and presented, (mushroom risotto and crab linguine, both yum), staff were lovely and the prices reasonable for the excellent quality. The staff still managed to smile despite the heat and running up and down stairs for the private function all night. A couple were back on the breakfast shift having to work hard all over again and were still smiling. Thank you to all, we really enjoyed it and would come here again,

Had dinner in the brassiere as staying at the hotel. Very attentive friendly waitresses, with lovely decor & open kitchen to watch the chefs. Had an Arancini Parmesan ball starter - bland, barely taste Parmesan, lack of seasoning & could taste flour in the creamy sauce. However did have a nice crunchy exterior & soft inside texture. Followed by a fish stew main served with garlic bread. Lovely fresh taste, added own black pepper & salt - good variety of fish, mussels & prawns with cherry tomatoes & potatoes in the soup. Enjoyable, but lacking slightly.

We booked a last-minute room here, as everything in the Cotswolds seemed to be sold out for Saturday night. The price was quite high, but it looked like a nice hotel right in the heart of Cirencester. Parking was a nightmare. We were unable to unload bags at the front of the hotel and ended up just walking from the car park a few blocks away. After checking in, we decided to take the stairs after waiting quite a while for the single lift, which was never available. The trek to the room was surprisingly far from the staircase, with several additional random steps up or down in the long, winding corridor. We entered a small, absolutely stifling room with a tiny window and no functioning air conditioning. As there was also no phone in the room, this required a return trip to the front desk to address the temperature issue. The staff tried to remotely turn on the air, but it was inoperative. We were told that no maintenance person was available to fix the broken a/c. The room was so uncomfortably hot, there was no way to stay there. The hotel agreed to refund the almost £300 cost of the room, but it was very inconvenient to find accommodations for the night, which required driving well out of town. Awful experience.

Again this review is only for the bar area. We usually love visiting the bar here. It’s cosy and comfortable and service is generally excellent while the drinks are great. December has been a bit of a disappointment unfortunately. Poor service - non-existent one evening when we just left as there was no one to take our order. Quality of cocktails varied widely depending on who was mixing them - one I actually returned as it was so poor. It might be Christmas but please don’t let things slip. We really love the atmosphere here and the usually friendly and efficient staff. But we’ve had too many poor experiences this month . I do hope things return to normal in the new year.

However, after a quick recce around the town and seeing if you empty bars we headed back to the Kingshead hotel to try the restaurant as it seem to be the only place that was full of people. We were initially put off by seeing some of the negative reviews on here, but we are very happy to say we had an excellent meal, with really good service. After a couple of cocktails, we shared a starter, then my husband had the duck while I had the guinea fowl. Both were beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. Following that we shared the small cheese plate. The server was extremely polite and attentive, popping back frequently to ask if everything was okay. Very pleased overall, and would definitely recommend the restaurant, I would also advise readers to ignore the negativity on here. In our experience it was not justified, and that sentiment was backed up by the fact it was the only busy bar in town this evening.

La comida era excelente, el servicio era educado y amable y muy servicial. Altamente recomendado

Good quality food and drinks in a pleasant environment with attentive service. Restaurant is spacious and well laid-out following comprehensive refurbishment 2010-14. Reasonably priced.

A very enjoyable evening celebrating my husband's birthday Fantastic food choices, the Duck main and Souffle dessert were amazing (wish I had taken a pic of the Souffle) Staff were attentive without being imposing or absent from our needs Good atmosphere and not noisy at all for Saturday evening Will be back again soon

Planned celebration of Wifes birthday. Entered bar area, it smelt like a sewer. Barmen told us external drain problem. No smell outside building! Smell persisted, we cancelled booking and celebrated at a more hygenic venue. Disappointed. Staff werd ignoring smell and trying to get us to order.

First time we have been for a meal here, but we will definitely be back. The food was delicious, waiting staff were attentive and my daughter who has a birthday this week was made to feel very special.

Overall experience very good. Food high standard however would have liked to have been made aware that a10% service charge would be added. (Who reads the extremely small print!)

Sadly the fish and chips weren't that good..the batter was very greasy, dripping onto the board it was served, and the chips were sent back to be cooked again. Shame really as the cocktails at the KH are really good and it's central location in Cirencester is great for meeting clients.

The Sunday roasts at the Kings Head are the best in the area imho. The portions are not massive (which is good) but the flavours are excellent and good value for money. The roast beef is always pink, juicy, very tender and very tasty. A couple of things to improve the service to 5 stars. 1. Make sure the serving staff are fully briefed on the dishes on the menu. 2. We asked for horseradish when our roast beef was served however it took a few mouthfuls before it arrived and we had to ask twice. Why not ask what sauces are required when the order is taken and bring with the main course? These are minor issues and would not stop us coming again.

Booked for lunch and very happy with food, service and value. But it's a rather strange experience having lunch with you wife when there's a group of several women, three or four of whom are in bath robes and slippers sitting next to you having drinks and lunch. While I appreciate a relaxed environment means different things to people but why some might think it's okay to sit in a hotel restaurant having lunch dressed as if you've just climbed out of the bath leaves me baffled. I would suggest that either less public areas be used for spa customers who may wish to relax after their treatment but please don't subject diners to sitting next to them. It tarnished an otherwise pleasant lunch. It would be really embarrassing if it had been a business rather family lunch!

From walking into the restaurant and ordering we waited 50 minutes before our lunch arrived. The muscles were cold and had to be replaced with fish and chips which put us out of sync eating our meals. The fish and chip meals were OK and although the steak was good there was a shortage of trimmings. The puddings were good. When the bill came it had 2 service charges on it which on request were removed.

The most UN-welcoming pub I have ever had the misfortune of visiting, I sincerely hope they close down & the sooner, the better. It's also a "Pub Stopover for Campervan/mobile homes, my advice is, DON'T BOTHER, there is a better pubs just down the road !! Bottle of wine in this pub £22, (plastic cups)same wine in a shop £6....I don't mind publicans making a profit but £16 on a cheap wine !!!!
