We were late coming to the restaurant. The restaurant rang a quarter of an hour after our due time and asked where we were. I apologized as we were running late and I apologized also in the restaurant. However, if somebody is going to ring then they need to be ready for the guests and this place certainly was not. Firstly on the Bank Holiday Friday we were there, the service seemed disorganized. The server that we had hardly said a word to us. I don't know if she was shy or just starting but I am sorry she should not have been serving. I even asked where she was from so quiet was she and got the answer back "England". There was a big delay in service and getting our glasses of wine. I went to the bar several times and despite there being enough staff, the service was very slow. From the starters to getting our main course, it took more than a half hour. The restaurant was not busy. Even getting the simple things like some mayonnaise was problematic and I had to ask a number of times for it. Neither the server in question or her colleagues apologized. The service was pathetic. The food was ok. The prawns with their heads on were edible but the sauce was terrible. My wife's pork belly was by far the most successful and in fairness tasted lovely. My fish and chips were ok but I have tasted a lot better. The fish was small while there were plenty of chips. At the end there was a server who was at least willing to be attentive and help us with a taxi. Better late than never. However, I certainly will not be back if in Falmouth.

We hadn’t booked and it was late evening and busy but we had a lovely warm welcome and the food and wine were amazing! What made it even better was the music choice!! Nothing was too much trouble, we’ll be back for sure! Thank you!

A bit of a walk from town center but well worth it. A great all round pub at sensible prices and great service. Why cant more pubs get it right??

Booked as a 6 with the dogs. Sat outside in terrace overlooking harbour. Lovely, friendly & attentive staff, good range of beers, wines and spirits. We all went for a choice of Sunday roasts, all were good and hearty so we had a happy table! Some went for puddings, again homemade, tasty and generously portioned washed down with some coffees, Highly recommended, good for dogs and little uns and great for views!

Nice Sunday lunch, attentive staff, good food and drink. Slightly spoiled by the fact there was a homeless man in the women’s toilets. When brought to the attention of the staff, was told that he’s allowed to use it as they need to wash themselves in there. Obviously I’m sympathetic to vulnerable people, but would be nice to have had a bit of warning as they’re using the ladies, and maybe have someone clean the sink afterwards as they’re washing their body in it.

Shanty festival weekend, can't beat the atmosphere

We had a delicious roast lamb dinner here. The food was excellent. The staff are hard working. The views are stunning. I would highly recommend.

Sunday roast a bit dissapointing. Two thin slices of beef quite dry. Veggies a bit tastless. Yorky pudding not crispy. Coming from a Yorkshire lass. The staff and service was awesome. Views lovely.

It was such a nice place to eat. Lovely staff, they couldn't have been more accommodating. Food was great, so much so we went back again a few days later.

Went for a Sunday roast. I had been for a roast on my previous visit to Falmouth the year before and it was exceptional. This time round i was a bit disappointed. The roast was a bit bland. The environment is lovely, the view beautiful and the atmosphere is awesome.

Fantastic location with views over the harbour. We were upstairs so the view was especially good. Food was absolutely delicious. As starters we had deep fried squid and also scallops in pesto oil with chopped tomatoes and onion; then both had baked hake with herbed mash in a beautiful creamy sauce. Great service. So good we’ve booked to return next year week. So popular you should probably book.

Had a amazing meal here I had the fish pie and my friend had the belly pork. Then we both had the maple and vanilla cheesecake. Lovely friendly staff highly recommend this place.

After reading through TripAdvisor Reviews, we were a bit dubious to try The Boathouse for Sunday Lunch however we decided to make the decision on its quality for ourselves. We were pleasantly surprised, the service was fantastic and everyone we came across was polite and attentive. On arrival we asked if we could have a seat by the window and we were told it was fine as long as the table was returned within 1 hour 45 mins… I always find it funny when restaurants say this, my time spent HIGHLY depends on how fast your service is, luckily they were very efficient and we did not feel rushed in any way. The roast itself (despite other reviews) was huge, the amount of meat was spectacular and there was a fair amount of other items too. Whilst slightly pricey the quality was worth it and we felt we got our moneys worth. The cauliflower cheese as a £5 extra was slightly small and disappointing but this didn’t ruin our experience in any way. We asked for extra gravy when ordering (I like my roast swimming - also there were some reviews saying the gravy was like water, this was not the case at all) and this was brought with the meals although a fair amount was already on the plate. My only reservation was the potatoes, they lacked flavour and crisp and this is normally my favourite part of a roast so maybe I was overly sentimental, again not bad enough to have ruined the experience or mentioned to our waitress. Overall a good experience though 😊

We went for my partners birthday and staff were lovely and friendly. Food was lovely (but I didn’t like the mac and cheese balls as they were quite dry!) The loaded chips portion was huge. Thank you to the staff who served us lunch and helped us celebrate a birthday!

Food, beer, location, views all great and a nice big pub with outdoor and 1st floor. The only issue was the bored staff member who just couldn't raise a smile.

Here in Falmouth on holiday , went in for drinks and decided to go back for food. Very dog friendly, was seated at the restaurant with a very group….. very happy that we was not forgotten, service was very good and the staff made us do welcome. I would highly recommend if you are in the area ….. once again , thanks to all of the team.

Great place to catch up with friends over a drink and a bite to eat. Good food and affordable prices. Phenomenal views over the Fal make it the perfect place for day or evening.

Went for Sunday lunch yesterday. Really nice food, one of the best Sunday Roasts I’ve had. Highly recommended. Excellent service from the staff. Will be revisiting next time I’m in Falmouth.

We chose this place for dinner (roast on Easter day) based on reviews. The place is nice (if you have a seat next to the window, you will have a proper view), food was below average. Roast was not particularly tasty ( not even the Yorkshire pudding). Service was OK. Above all, we were disappointed.

Had Sunday lunch late afternoon. Food was average wrt meat, veg side was really good especially cabbage and greens on the side. Wine was old/off in my view. They did offer to remove from the bill but places struggle enough. Staff were great.

I had been here for a self date on Sunday. I’d never been there before, and asked for a quiet table in the booking form. I got a really nice table with a beautiful view. The staff were really lovely and so kind to me. Food was nice and so was the cider. Highly recommend! Only tiny gripe would be I used the extra ladies loo and I don’t think the toilet paper was made for that dispenser, so it was hard to get any paper out, and I skinned myself a little trying to get some out! But that was the only thing! I had a really wonderful time, thank you so much to the staff:)

One of the best Sunday roast we ever had! Beef sirloin gorgeous, Yorkshire pudding large and crispy, veg and potatoes lovely. Ample gravy and a good size plate. My wife did think the potatoes could have been a bit more crispy but this is personal preference- they were delicious anyway. Cherry cheesecake and ice cream for dessert nice too. The ladies serving were very attentive and polite. There is a dog friendly and non dog friendly seating area.

9 family members had a beautiful Christmas lunch at this venue A lovely festive table with fabulous views Very attentive, friendly and happy staff. Any special requests where implemented The turkey was moist and beautifully presented with the usual bits and pieces. Excellent xmas pudding. If you want a break from preparing Christmas lunch, I can highly recommend this venue.

This was our first visit here although we have visited Falmouth many times. The staff were very friendly and provided great service in the restaurant. The restaurant had a great atmosphere with every table taken. The menu had a small but good selection of dishes and there were a couple of specials. The lamb shank was delicious- one of the specials. The fish pie was ok- it lacked flavour but was nicely cooked. Overall a good experience and we would certainly dine there again.

Sunday evening , no booking . Served a limited menu which was understandable . Felt really rushed to eat and order . The food was nice and the staff were pleasant. If we had booked we wouldnt have been so rushed .

Fantastic Sunday lunch. Lamb and pork both tasty, tender and well presented. Nice selection of vegetables, very tasty gravy with more on request, all served piping hot. Great service and great views, would definitely recommend.

We came in at 3pm and got served immediately. Very friendly waitress, and good food. The fish and chips was very good. The chips were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Delicious fish, and good tartar sauce. If you drive there, you may need to park and walk a bit to get to the resturant.

Lovely staff, great views, and one of the best places in falmouth to find a welcoming atmosphere. Love it!

Good food at a reasonable price

We booked for mid afternoon, for a Sunday Roast, thinking the rush would be over - it was but, our food still took over an hour to come out and was, sadly, at best tepid. The waitress was very understanding and I imagine it wasn't her first problem if the day. They did deal with our problem but we ended up with a pizza elsewhere!

Had yet another fantastic Sunday lunch here. Miranda who was our server was so friendly and nothing too much trouble. By far the best pub in Falmouth and not to be missed. I don’t want it getting too popular as I want to still be able to get a table 😂

We left booking for Sunday lunch very late and were lucky enough to get a table here. We all had burgers, which were great, the Sunday lunches also looked very good. Great atmosphere and views, had a proper pub feel about it. Would definitely visit again.

Sunday roast is banging. Great service and great wine too. They made quite a fuss of our dog too... Cleverly they keep the people with dogs in a different room to those without.

The food was amazing, we had tapas it was delicious. The choice from the menu was small, but that was a good thing when ordering this type of food. Staff and service were brilliant. We also were able to take our dogs in they enjoyed the treats!

I recently went for what was to be a family Sunday lunch. It stated on Google it was less than usually busy. There were 2 people outside drinking not eating. I asked for 3 menus as we'd like to eat lunch and was dismissed with a very rude hand gesture and advised "No we are too busy" My Sister left a review that you replied to stating if I'd waited around this would have been explained and I could have come back later! As a customer service manager for a blue chip company I would advise this isn't the best service and both your responses were nothing short of bad manners. Thanks but no thanks I don't spend my hard earned cash in such establishments. We had a beautiful lunch around the corner in Penny come quick. The service, food and atmosphere was excellent. You should visit and get some tips on how to provide the best service to your customers. As a regular visitor to Falmouth (I'd flew down that day) I will be telling my family and friends of my experience and will be advising all to not pay you a visit. Please don't bother to reply unless you want to prove my point of being very rude and showing this in your response once again.

The service was great, and even though the pub downstairs was really busy, the restaurant upstairs was separated and a much nicer experience because of that. But, the food wasn't very good, or at least mine wasn't. I had the fish and chips. The chips were soggy fries, not fat chip shop chips. The fish was grey and quite small with floppy batter. I got a teaspoon of crushed garden peas instead of an actual portion of mushy peas. The tartare sauce seemingly had no pickles or capers or herbs in it, so I'm not convinced it was tartare sauce, but couldn't tell you what it was. There was a slice of lemon that probably belonged in a drink because it was so thin you couldn't pick it up and squeeze it like you would be able to with a wedge. Might seem like minor things to complain about, but so easy to change and get right and make the dish 10x better. My son had the steak, it looked good. £45 for 2 mains, 2 soft drinks and service charge.

We booked as a party of 9 Pre ordered our meals , when we arrived the staff were very welcoming, showed us to our table. They can back to double check the order was correct .. Food was really nice quality and plentiful. Service wears extremely efficient and quick . We have been serveral times before and would not hasitate to come again or highly recommend this fabulous pub Views over the Fal just brilliant

Came to falmouth on holiday and went here for Sunday lunch. Outside had a great seating area which had 2 people in. We sat down (3 adults) and my sister went inside to get some menus. She was rudely told that no she could not have menus as it was busy and the lady behind the bar waved her hand around to show about 15 people if that. We left and went elsewhere with much better service. After being recommend, it was a disappointing visit with poor service.

After a long walk I really need a cold beer & some good food and the Boatman did not disappoint. The first thing I noticed that there was a good crowd of people happily eating drinking chatting , giving the pub / restaurant a really good buzz. Our table was under the canopy offering a great view of the bay. We ordered fish & chips and I could not fault it, delivery was quick and the food look great & tasted great, loved it and the beer was really cold, well done 👏 thanks every one.

One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve ever had! A great atmosphere and amazing staff, very polite and attentive. Would 100% recommend to anyone wanting Sunday lunch and going off what this was like I can only imagine how fantastic the normal menu is as well. The view was stunning, it was a super rainy and miserable day but the views looking over the harbour were spectacular.

Very good food and service, and dog friendly too. Just be aware of the very limited menu on a Sunday.

Went there 3 times in a row, very nice and good quality food. If there was anything to comment on, it was that we where charged service costs without asking. Great food last night and fabulous friendly service. Used to be our favourite pub when we lived at that end of town but haven't been back for a while. Great to see that it is as good as ever with those fabulous views and friendly vibe. We won't leave it so long next time!

Very warm welcome for us and the two dogs, superb range of drinks and a very tasty Sunday lunch, the Banoffee pie is to die for, lovely staff great banter and reasonably priced.

This was our first time in falmouth as a family of 7 and chose The Boathhouse due to the good reviews. Sadly we left disappointed. The staff were indeed friendly but the food wasn't what we expected. We had the lamb roast, the portion was suitable for a child, less than a spoon of mash (no exaggeration) and a couple of extremely small carrots. For the cost it really wasn't worth it in our opinion. We were still hungry after finishing our meals so decided we would have desserts, unfortunately for us, the desserts had been very popular that day, as our server explained, and there was only cheesecake and ice cream available. We decided to go elsewhere for desserts. We did mention our issues with the meal portions when paying and was advised if we had aired our concerns with the portion sizes at the meal check they would have happily given us extra (although this is charged on the menu). Food for thought when ordering the roast.

Lovely pub with good food, service and nice atmosphere. Evening music downstairs terrace as well for vibes.

Great place to hang out with friends, even during Falmouth week it was just right not rammed but plenty of happy people enjoying the atmosphere as we were.

Pros were the really attentive service, the presentation of the food and the drinks, cons, salt and pepper squid over cooked and soggy batter (no salt and pepper), mezze platter the bread tasted gluten free (falling apart), balsamic dip was drowned in oil, olives very standard, definitely don't recommend for £10. Mains good, burger was nice, chips delicious but the bread wasn't nice again. Pork belly was 80% fat but the mash, crackling and sauces were really tasty. Steak was really well cooked and went down a treat. As always beer was great (mena dhu!)

A lovely, historic pub with awesome views over the harbour. The vegetarian options were excellent and we recommend the butternut squash dish. I had the apple and celariac which was also splendid. Great staff, friendly and professional. A supurb place to eat.

My son had planned his proposal with you and you pulled out everything you could to make it extra special. Everything was all very relaxed and we felt very looked after. The food was amazing too

The views across the bay are incredible and worth the visit alone. Add the excellent food and a great menu choice and you’ve hit on a winner. Arancini starter was exceptional and the burger probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Staff were amazing....
