The scallops (light bites) were delicious but the white gravel under the shells was rather unpleasant, the shells rocked around. The burgers were fine. £18 for a 250ml glass of sauvignon blanc. The decor was tired and, as a previous reviewer mentioned, the garden is full of weeds.

Such a charming hotel and the brasserie is a lovely room which looks out onto the Camel estuary. Had a super meal. Creamy Porthilly oysters from the waters below. Main course was sole in a superb sauce. Good and friendly service, all very enjoyable.

A wonderful family lunch at the St Enodoc Hotel, James and his team looked after us and we couldn't have had a better day sitting under an umbrella on the terrace for our lunch. The food was superb and they took our rumbustious grandchildren in their stride. We'll be back.

Dropped by for coffee and ended up choosing an impromptu sandwich lunch on the terrace with a partial view of the estuary. We had wine, mocktail and then coffee. The sandwiches were delicious, the mocktail ok but the grenache rose can only be described as superb. The two coffees to round off lunch were barely warm as we told the server - no fuss, they were removed from the bill. The gardens were screaming out for attention but it was obvious they had been carefully chosen and planted originally. Very friendly service, we would like to have stayed!

Went for Sunday lunch as this was a regular spot for us over the years but we have been away this year. Our first impression was the garden was very neglected beside the patio with bind weeds growing up the flowers. Iunch was ok but a bit disappointing for the price point and poor choice of background music. Probably won’t go back again this summer as it seems to have lost its way slightly, perhaps they have had to cut back due to lack of customers as Cornwall is very quiet this year.

My wife and I really enjoyed our summer lunch at this lovely hotel/restaurant overlooking the Camel estuary and their beautiful Cornish gardens sitting outside on the terrace. We both had no hesitation in awarding the food and service here as 5/5. We have dined recently at Steins restaurants in Sandbanks at Poole and at the Mariners at Rock and were ready make some comparisons - and we unanimously agreed that St Enodoc restaurant was clearly with winner. The food was simply divine - from the heritage beetroot starter salad - the silky Porthilly oysters - to the fresh and sweet lobster - the the beautifully poached gurnard - obviously caught within the last few hours and brought to the hotel that morning -- we marvelled at the tastes and the standard of excellence in every dish. Nothing could have been more enjoyable.

We arrived early and not knowing where to go. The reception desk was unattended so we waited. We eventually wandered through and found another guest in a library area and took directions to the restaurant. The restaurant was almost empty, and with that and the lack of any background music every awkward echoic step was heard as we entered. The Maitre'D was friendly as was the lady behind the bar. We had to ask multiple times for our wine order as the Maitre'D seemed to forget. When we ordered, the food came very quickly and was okay, but nothing as special as we had been led to believe. We waited a long time for dishes to be cleared despite the other tables having left by this time. We were sat with a good view of the kitchen door, and suggest service might have run smoother had the Maitre'D not been so invested in canoodling with the chef. Not a good first impression.

It’s so difficult to get a table in or around Padstow at the moment and to be honest we hadn’t considered this place as a serious option despite the good reviews. Having searched and searched we eventually decided to take the plunge as one of the only remaining options with a table on a Friday night. We had a fantastic meal, the staff were friendly, welcoming and efficient. The absolute best meal we had during our week in this area was at Rick Stein’s Seafood Restaurant, it just had that certain extra something raising it to a higher level, but our meal at this hotel came very very close indeed at about half the price. I can’t finish this relatively brief review without mentioning the Knickerbocker, which was absolutely sublime and the best dessert I have had anywhere in a long time (including the one at Rick Stein’s!) and I have to make a request of anyone who eats there having read this review: Please, please, please everyone order this and make it their most popular dish, to ensure it’s still on the menu when we next visit Cornwall - we will absolutely be back to eat here again and I will absolutely order this dessert if it’s still available!

Firstly the food was very good, even for the area. Unfortunately, this was let done by a rude manager who was boastful, arrogant, and wholly inaccurate about almost everything he told us about the menu, the wines, and the whiskies (My partner and I have worked in Spirits sales for years). I have never written a bad review before, and so I want to emphasise that everything beyond this, including the service from the other staff was really very good. As we left we also saw him shouting at the young waitresses and being very unprofessional. Great place let down by one individual unfortunately.

Recommended by a friend and what a recommendation. As a family of 4 it’s unusual to find a three course meal where everyone’s choices are great - but our visit here broke that theory. I’m so pleased we booked this whilst on holiday in Cornwall. We will be back, and will likely stay a few nights. Well done everyone. Exceptional experience.

Booked from TA and were not disappointed! On a dismal evening, the only disappointing was to find ourselves at a table looking out over the oyster farm in the estuary on such an evening. Must be an incredible view on a lovely evening. We started with the Porthilly oysters which were the best we have had in varying places all over the world! The food continued to be tasty and ably assisted by a very professional brigade of young ladies who were not only helpful but also fun Thanks for making a dismal evening, weather wise, into an extremely enjoyable one.

Vraiment si vous logez à l’hôtel et n’avez pas envie de sortir le restaurant est correct sans plus. Salle tristounette, dommage car le site est magnifique.

This used to be a favourite restaurant, but the slide downhill from the days when Nathan Outlaw had his restaurant in the same building is almost complete. The only day they serve lunch (rather than an “all-day menu”) is Sunday and so we went on the Sunday of our week in Cornwall. The serving staff were very friendly and attentive and the view was as good as ever, but the food was not what we hoped. The menu was very brief, but even so they managed to serve the hot food fully cooled, especially the moules. I had asparagus soup which could have been made of anything because there was little or no taste and not a lot of seasoning either. It was very hot indeed, which made me think that it was straight out of the microwave. The children’s menu was a good try, but the grandchildren were not all that impressed. Few people were eating that day. Unfortunately this place is probably in a spiral of decline. People don’t go there any more so the management operate the restaurant on a shoestring. It needs a new chef and a relaunch. I hope the St Enedoc hotel decides its worth the bother.

We stayed at the hotel and ate 4 breakfasts and 2 dinners there. All was very good and the staff is great. Very attentive and wanting to please. One of the better options in Rock to eat.

Went there for Sunday lunch with friends. The service was very slow, we waited over 15/20 minutes just to have our drinks order taken and they was even slower to arrive! The staff were friendly but not attentive. I am gluten free and when ordering they had no gluten free bread at all which was disappointing. The food, when it finally arrived, was delicious but during the meal it sounded like half the shelves of saucepans in the kitchen falling onto the floor, and the staff kept dropping stuff everywhere. It was one big disastrous clatter after another. We found it all quiet amusing but not sure I’d want to go back again sadly.

Excellent crab sandwiches and cream tea in the sun on the terrace. Quiet, but clean and helpful staff. We were not staying, but would have been happy to.

This was a mixed experience. The food, it must be said, overall was very good. Admittedly we were only having Sunday lunch with a slightly restricted menu of three choices per course, but what arrived on the plate was very satisfying. Starters of charred asparagus with a soft poached egg and a truffle sauce, or local moules mariniere in a smooth wine and creamy sauce or smoked chicken with various leaves were all enjoyed.

Visited today at lunchtime after seeing their new policy of allowing dogs and the interesting menu. We were the only people in any restaurant eating which was not ideal. Although we appreciated having a separate room to eat with our dog it was a little stark. The menu was not quite as advertised outside which was a shame. The wine was an excellent Australian Shiraz at just the right temperature and the bread was top quality to go with it. The breaded oysters were easily the best item on the menu and we ordered two more. This was the second time in Rock we had ordered Porthilly mussels and it will be our last- the portion size was disappointing, as was the quality- too many empty shells, gritty and a mediocre sauce.

Hadn't been for over a year and in the interim, the hotel had changed hands so we looked forward to seeing how things were. We needn't have worried. The welcome was as warm as ever. We were relieved to find some staff still there giving a sense of continuity.

We booked afternoon tea for family celebrations. Afternoon tea was presented beautifully and was delicious. Our waitress Pinka was friendly and looked after us. The special offer was a bonus too. Highly recommended!

Beautiful building. Amanda the barmaid/waitress was very helpful and friendly. My family had the ham egg and chips, which was outstanding. I had fish and chips, the fish was delicious and fresh. The puddings were sinful and beautifully made.

We stopped for an ice cream while on the search for our car keys which we lost on the beach!! 🤦🏽‍♀️ The rum and raisin ice cream was AMAZING and no complaints from the kids and hubby with their choices! The lovely gent who served us got his wife Zara to help us with locating the keys which luckily where found and left at the RLNI across but was closed, she managed to find someone who got the keys So thank you so much for your help lovely people and for the ice creams! 🥰 wishing you all the best x
