Really lovely place. We recieved a really warm welcome including the toddler in our group great food. Great value too.

We had the carvery couldn't fault it was fantastic, 4 meats to choose from and all you can get vegetables, homemade stuff can have a gravy jug all local .

Excellent service. A proper pub and very good food which was well priced. The landlord and landlady really care to look after their customers. My friends who were visiting from Wales loved it and will certainly visit again.

While the service and quality of the food was good, in fact the chips were quite excellent, the portion size was very disappointing, id go as far to say the size of the slice of steak and ale pie we had was child like. Not good value for money at all imho.

We went to visit santa at this venue. Went went inside the pub to ak where the grotto was. We was told where is was being held and could pay here at the outdoor marquee. Whilst queuing for santa my son and his friend were 1st online. We had no one ask us to pay 1st so presumed we would pay afterwards. Then a lady came marching in who I can only presume was the owner/landlady, she said some people havnt havnt paid and will have to take your children out of the que and go to the bar to pay inside the pub. She made a huge scene and told santa some people havnt paid and made us out to be common thieves infront of our children and all the other parents, santa then said we must pay 1st, I said if it was made aware to us where we could we would have pre paid but it wasn't. The children looked sad so my friend stayed inline and I went off to pay. When I got back my son had gone into see santa without me and I missed the whole thing! The experience was completely ruined by this rude lady and I was very Dissapointed in how she handled it. It was a £5 per person event not £500!! It would of been decent to just let them see santa and kindly say we could pay afterwards. She could of even escorted us to the bar to pay after if she was that worried we wouldn't pay!! It was ridiculous, rude and damn right unnecessary!! I will be telling everyone about the experience and how rude that lady was about something so innocent to us. We had no reason to think about not paying for our children. So to be accused of this infront of everyone, the children and the workers was so Dissapointing. We Will never return! Hope she feels proud of herself for ruining this experience for us all! Merry Christmas

Booked christmas meal brought starters no spoons for soup waiter dropped cutlery for guests I rather they gave cutlery to us personally rather than on side of table for us yo give out No condiments table ie horse radisj/ cranberry. Dinner given to us no beg ask where is our veg server said you want extra veg? No we haven't got any veg yet. Asks for gravy boat. Waited so long for extras main dinner going cold beef tuff asked for sharper knife.was asl is there anything else yes can I have a glass of wine no i can't do that well can you order ne a glass no I can't do that either. Poor service can't believe family member left, £5 tip not a Christmas experience for the money

This is a very friendly welcoming community based pub. It is spacious and comfortable serving good food at very reasonable prices. We had two ham and turkey pies with mash and veggies, a whiskey and ginger ale and sparkling water for £31.90. Real comgort food and we left full up without space for a pud.There is a spacious carpark, you need to enter your registration on a computer in the pub. We will definitely be back again!

I love this pub - the food was amazing and now with options during the week, I can’t recommend enough. The Sunday Roast is outstanding, tasty and if Mark and Rachel are about it’s delivered with humour and lots of smiles. If you’re in the area, I recommend this as a stopping point. Amazing.

This was by far the worst carvery I’ve been to mainly because there was no meat! The table had been booked in advance but when we went to get our food were told by Mark, the owner, it had been a busy service & there was only “scrag ends”left. All he could offer my husband & myself was a very bland, pale, rubbery, tasteless chicken breast (done quickly in the microwave?) & a strip of thick bacon he said was gammon. All the carvery meat had gone! The veg was OK, not brilliant & not very warm. We asked for a price reduction, we didn’t get one or any other goodwill gesture. Poor service!

Went to a quiz and it was a great night

Went today with an old friend. Previously had been to a carvery nearby and we weren’t impressed. As I live in Carharrack i suggested The Star Inn as had a dinner in there on a Saturday evening and it was lovely. Bit picky about carvery as my dad is a retired butcher so am always sceptical. Today did not disappoint. Lovely meat and veg was gorgeous and stuffing unbelievable. Incredibly delicious and very reasonable. Will 100% recommend to others.

Just went for a family carvery and some deserts. Blown away by the fresh ingredients fantastic food and felt very welcomed this will now be a firm family favourite pub to get food

Before I start the review on food you have to understand this is a community pub, not a 5 star eating establishment. If you can handle this then you will not be disappointed with your visit and especially the food. We visited for Sunday Carvery and I was blown away by the quantity and quality. We were there early and joined the queue at 1230. Choose between 4 meats or even a bit of all 4, then stack up with veg, perfectly cooked. Pork for me was slightly over done but that was the only gripe. Roasties were best I’ve had at a carvery and the choice of remainder was great. We were so full we couldn’t fit in a dessert even though there was a 20% discount if paid for with carvery. Staff very friendly and helpful and for those into their beers a goodly selection of cask ales and ciders. All in all a great visit. We came here because of the appearance on Jeremy Vines radio show of this establishment so be prepared, if you leave too much on your plate, eyes bigger than belly, you may be charged for the waste. In my opinion nothing wrong with that. Well done to all at The Star at Vogue, loved it!!!

World famous. The landlord went on the news saying he would charge a surcharge for people leaving food at the carvery. Actually made it on gogglebox aswell. Good on him! Greedy beggars!

Held our daughters 1st birthday party in the marquee yesterday and had the best day. Such an affordable rate and the staff and owners are super friendly and helpful. If you're looking for a venue for a party/wedding reception or anything else, 100% come here. Amazing!!! Thank you ❤️

Lovely Sunday roast, nothing to complain about.

Took my son for his second birthday 🎂 Can't fault the team, food and surroundings. Really grateful that you could accommodate such a large table/party. The park was great for the little ones. Would highly recommend and look forward to returning next week.

What a great Cornish welcome and the best ever steak and ale pie with good mix of vegetables and crispy chips. Are you tired of pies with three bits of meat and a teaspoon of ale, then make this place a must for a memorable meal. Great range of beers on tap. Staff friendly and efficient.

Utterly embarrassing to charge people for not eating food they've paid for, which is already accounted for in its price, so your charging people on principle? What a load of sanctimonious tosh Edit: is it a crime punishable by financial penalty to have eyes bigger than ones stomach in one specific instance? You provide the service you take the risk.

Absolutely poor quality food served up to the masses in cheap buffet style. Owner of the pub is rude and clearly judgmental or others. Disgusting pub wouldn't return.

£12 for an eat as much as you like carvery and people leave full plates, the landlord should charge more than £2.49 for food waste. This is an independent business, people should respect that.

Food dry, processed and bland. Owner/landlord is very grubby and looks unwashed. I'd imagine bad habits in the kitchen, God knows the state of the kitchen. Definitely avoid

So glad you charge for unnecessary wastage of food . It's called an all you can EAT carvery. If you fill your plate twice over you should eat it not waste half of it.

Quality food on carvery, good reputation, as will charge for those who over fill plate and leave behind excess food. You can go up for more food as often as you like. Price is extremely reasonable.

Fair play to you sir. After seeing you clip on the local news I couldn't agree more with you after being a chef for many years and seeing the amount some people put on there plate then throw it away used to really gaul me. Well done.

A Gorgeous Older Pub, very clean, food especially the carvery was absolutely Gorgeous, plenty if meat, and you can return as many times as you like for vegetables aslong as you eat what you take. Staff very polite and very helpful. It was our first time there for a Sunday roast. 100% Guantee we will call again..

Fantastic community pub serving decent cask ale

We were staying nearby on holiday for a week. We booked in for our first night here for a meal and I can recommend . It was all lovely . We also went in on the Sunday night for the quiz and were made to feel so welcome by everyone . Thank you to all the staff . We would call in again if ever down on holiday for sure .

Stayed in St Day in August and this great pub was only a 10 minute walk away, best Guinness I've had for ages and the carvary was really tasty and delicious, also I messaged them before our holiday and explained that my son would only eat Spag Boll when going out and they made sure that it was on the specials board all week especially for him and he loved it! Really great pub, nice atmosphere and good outside area, would definitely recommend

With great character a proper honest country pub serving real Ales, good food and on top its dog friendly as well. Large covered outside space as well as a beer garden make this a versatile space whatever the weather. Good size car park to the side is controlled by cameras so don't forget to put your reg number in at the bar.

Feels very much like a local pub that probably gets lively when it chooses. Great selection of real ales and a traditional cider when we visited. Plenty of parking and an outside seating area. Slightly off the main road in a small village but definitely worth seeking out.

We ate here 3 times in the last week and loved it. The staff are welcoming and friendly as are the locals. The food and ales are excellent and reasonably priced. The beef and ale pie is not to be missed. The cheesecake and the banoffee pie are delicious. We will be coming here next time we are in the area.

This was the first time we had been here after other friends had recommended it. The food was good, but a very limited menu ( which we understood) , my criticism is that though we were in the dining room, nobody came to say that the kit was closing (8.30) did we want dessert!??

We regularly visit the Star Inn. It's our favourite local place. Great for stopping in whilst out for a walk for a drink, we love lunch in the sun while the kids play in the park, the annual ale festival is insane!! We LOVE the carvery and know it must be booked by the signs and regular social media updates. We sometimes take a chance on stopping in as a 3 but ALWAYS book when the 6 of us are wanting to go out. A small family run establishment with the best ales and ciders around, well looked after garden and lovely staff. Inclusive pub and nothing is ever too much trouble. Fresh, local sourced ingredients, you can't get better than that :) Yet to try the breakfast but it's on our to do list.

Like to put pen to paper when things are good, so a detailed review below. Right I live in Carharrack so we often go for walks to the pub in vogue. The main reason is the selection of ales/ciders x 5 and they are swooped out regularly, I dont think there are many pubs with a selection of drinks like they have here. There are some nice touches, retro free credits on an arcade game with the kids love. Great big beer garden and covered area, large car park. Don’t forget to put your reg no in on the touch screen). Will split the food into two reviews light bites and carvery. Light bites, holummi cheese ciabatta sweet chilli sauce and chips. This is very good value, generous portion and tasty, my 3 daughters love this meal. Had liver and onions, fish goujons, burgers.. all spot on. Carvery, I’m a bit of a carvery snob there are many local places… but imo the star is one of the best, mark is very generous with the meat When compared to others, there are normally x 4 to choose from and the meat is sourced locally in st day butcher which I I over heard why.. the quality and I won’t disagree the meat is first class. Good selection of veg, lovely spuds, gravy and sauces. We have had puddings we’re normally stuffed but if the kids have one we tend to share are there on point. We are becoming more of a regular as you can’t get this kind of quality elsewhere. The ale festival is really good as a local event, large selection of drinks. Good entertainment and again good..give if a try Oh and Rachael, Mark and staff all friendly and take time out to speak during their busy lives.

Rude staff and unfriendly atmosphere. Made to feel uncomfortable, loads of cameras everywhere and staff get defensive when you express your opinions. Won't be returning and will be warning others not to go.

On a sunny bank holiday weekend, thought it would be nice to sit in the garden, have a few drinks, some food and partake in the pub quiz. On arrival the staff weren’t particularly welcoming and made comment about us being a large group (family of 7). Not thinking much of it, we sat in the garden to enjoy our drinks. At 5.30 we decided we would like to order food (the time the kitchen opened) so went to the bar to be told ‘how many of you, to which we replied 7. To then be told we’re very busy we won’t accept food orders for more than 6 unless you pre order’ now we completely accept that if the pub is busy there could be a wait on food…. The pub was empty and although there were reservations, the tables were free until 6.30/7pm. No offer of a pre order for later and no offer of small bar snacks, just a rude response. It made us feel like we were very unwelcome. We finished our drinks and decided to go to the St Day. It’s a shame because if we had been made to feel more welcome, we would have spent money on drink, food and quiz. And definitely returned. But as locals, instead will avoid this pub and spend time in friendlier local establishments.

Shame on The Star Inn at Vogue!! On Thursday 14th March as normal people attended one of the circuits sessions held in the marquee at the rear of the pub . Three people having thought they’d entered their vehicle details in order for them to park without incurring a PCN, for whatever reason whether it was user error or technical error these people later received a PCN for £60 which would increase to £100 if not paid within the allotted time. The fact is these people thought they’d paid and were attending a bona fide event on the land belonging to the pub. Repeated requests were made to the landlord asking that these PCN’s could be quashed. I attended the pub on Tuesday 16th April having received a reminder stating my PCN was now £100. I was told that the landlord had dealt with the matter that very morning. There was no way I would have paid this PCN and did in fact appeal it officially. Today I have learnt that 1 person has paid £60 as they were concerned that the would face an increase upto £100 if not paid. I do hope that the person who paid the PCN is reimbursed. This could have been avoided if dealt with in a timely manner!!

Visited the star inn today, the food and service were amazing, will certainly be making another visit.

Had Sunday Lunch with my Sister in Law, the Carvery was the excellent, good value for money, well cooked, piping hot and served with a smile. Beer was good too.

Perfection!!! We went for Sunday carvery, we had one meat eater, one vegetarian and one vegetarian coeliac. The food was perfect, everyone was catered for, dietary ingredients explained clearly and vegetarian and gluten free catered for. Everything was delicious, staff were first class, friendly and welcoming.

Wonderful Sunday roast, with gluten free Yorkshire pudding, stuffing and gravy. Can not fault it, consistent good food, service and atmosphere. Added bonus was the music in the marquee afterwards. Toe tapping and sang along... even though I didn't know the words! Thank you once again for a lovely few hours.

Lovely local 'real' pub with amazing food. We visited for the first time today, for their Sunday carvery. Simply delicious and extremely great value for money. We had a very warm welcome from the landlord and landlady, which totally made it. We thoroughly recommend a visit.

First time we’ve visited the Star Inn. All four of us really enjoyed the food. Well worth the wait for the tasty main courses. Very friendly staff. We’ll definitely be visiting again.

Lovely, friendly pub. Good beer. Husband had Chicken and Leek pie, made by the chef, excellent. Followed by hot fruit crumble, excellent. I had Steak and onion ciabatta, excellent. Followed by, my favourite, sticky toffee pudding, excellent.

Update January 2024. The massive carpark has now grown cameras and warning signs. Bit off putting when it’s not an area where parking is in heavy demand - expect it stems from some misuse. Anyone easy enough, just log on car reg at bar. Extensive beer choices and food choices. Ordered a ciabatta, sausage and onions - just a light snack. Well pleased to get a filling plate/loads of sausages. And wide range of options available, food range is very good. New outside area works well, sofas, tables, heating etc. Very extensive menu and decent pub grub. Worth a stop.

Lovely roast, one of the best in the area, which was tasty and very good value at £12 for a standard size and £8 for a small. One of the best I've had, but you will need to book, especially on a Sunday.

Wonderful lunch here today, 16 of us ordering lots of different dishes but the staff coped admirably and with great good humour, really made us feel welcome. We had pre-ordered before our walk so only had to wait a few minutes once we arrived to be served. Tasty, generous portions, just the job! Thoroughly recommended.

Came over for a birthday event for an old friend really enjoyed the party. Spent a while in the bar afterwards for a few shorts had a great time. If you’re in this area pop in and see I’d recommend it.

Sunday carvery was amazing. I booked as a vegetarian in advance and had a lovely cashew and cranberry roast. Choice of 4 meats and an amazing choice of veg, perfectly cooked. It was beautiful and great value. The owner is friendly, welcoming and has great banter. Booking again soon for my friend's birthday as it's just so good. I've had a couple of other meals here too and they've been delicious also. Can't recommend highly enough.

Pretty disappointed with our first visit to the Star Inn. Heard good reports, particularly regarding the food. We had a curry, liver and onions, and oriental salmon. The first two were average, but the glaze/sauce with the salmon tasted awful and was left uneaten on the plate.. Too much soy/fish sauce in the mix? Clearly, it was not tasted before serving. "Well, it's oriental" was the response from staff after we expressed our dislike. Right. And the dining room was decorated for Haloween. Dark, gloomy and completely unwelcoming. Sorry, but we will look elsewhere next time.

Worst meal ever,cold food ,then gravy pot smashed all over the floor. Had our meal no gravy.had to wait until they got some more ,as only had one pot.so gravy less dinner for ten mins

Great village pub with loads of character. The carvery was one of if not the best we have had. Choice of 4 meats and lovely fresh vegetables. Puddings were gorgeous. Lovely friendly but very efficient staff. The landlord (retired "killick Fishhead") If you are retired or serving RN you will know what i mean. Great hard working bloke. Will definitely be back.

Several rooms in this pub which is just outside St Day village. Seems to be a local centre for community. Very large garden also, with play area. Range of beers, not the usual Sharps or St Austell.

Looks like it could be a great venue for music and celebrations as it has plenty of sitting areas we only went for lunch to celebrate our 57 anniversary and nephew’s 12 I have to admit I hadn’t heard of the place but had heard good reports on their carvery which was excellent you had a choice of 4 meats some of each if you wanted plenty of freshly cooked veg small portion was ample for me after a little break I went for saffron bread and butter pud unknown for me to have dessert it was delicious ate most of it will defo go back again staff very obliging only down side was I had to have a lie down at home ,so stuffed ,great meal

The best Sunday Carvery around and pretty much all gluten free for the awkward ones like me! They will even provide a gluten free Yorkshire pudding and stuffing if you ask. Service is excellent. A proper village pub, consistently getting it right. Even for the awkward ones! Well done 👏
