Kelly's of Looe in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly

My wife n I get so dissapointed with Fish n Chips wherever we go, but our Cod n Chips today were excellent, we could'nt fault them, great counter service too, great job Team Kelly's👏 Annette & Steve Wilson

Last time i paid £11.00 . Last night it was £13.30. The chips were good and fresh. The fish was disgusting. Wet and floppy.instead of firm and Crispy. Before the fish would fill the length of the takeaway box. Last night less than a third. Total RIP OFF. Tourists might except this But locals will not. Michael.

Lovely fish and chips and the staff were so obliging and friendly. Reasonable price too.

Great fish and chips, portion size very good, I couldn't finish mine so took my chips home for the air fryer.

Can't believe I paid £5:95 for 5 tiny pieces of flavoured chicken slices no bigger than a fag paper £1;25 each one bite and gone such a rip off place avoid at all costs gave 1star as couldn't give minus

Kellys are the best fish and chips in the whole wide world.

This has restored our faith in Fish and Chips! Creamy tender fresh cod’s and light but crisp chips which didn’t clump together in a blob of potato. Impressive 😁

Great place for traditional seaside chips

A real disappointment. We usually find that fish on the coast is so much fresher, but certainly not here. My cod was passable, but not that lovely fresh succulent taste, however my husband's haddock was either not fresh or badly cooked . . possibly both? Come on Kelly's you can do better than that. The only good part was a smiley young lad on his first day

Prices and portion size are really bad… my local choppy at home is loads better. hygiene isn’t good either…. I got a really long hair with my order.

Taste was fine but completely soggy batter and chips which is appalling for the price (we ate within five minutes of the chips being wrapped)

Quite possibly the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Soggy, greasy, drowning in vinegar, tasteless, extremely overcooked and low quality fish, long wait for takeaway food with nowhere to stand/sit to wait and now heads-up that it would be a long wait, poor service all around, and overpriced to boot! Avoid.

Ordered large fish and chips, had about 20 chips which would just about feed a small child. Fish was big but tasteless, avoid.

Been a few times usually better than today, chips were odd. Fish was smaller than I’ve had before. As a comparison Coddy shack up the road same portion mini fish and chips £5 and £1.60 for curry sauce here they charge £8.25 and £1.75 and the fish Is way smaller and not as good imho. If this was my first visit I’d give it 1 star but as it was better before. I’ve give them 3.

We ordered 2 portions of fish & chips and 1 scampi & chips. When the scampi was being served, 1 piece fell on the floor & another on the worktop. Whilst the servers put the floor scampi in the bin, they pretended that nothing had happened & protested when we questioned paying full price for the portion. Rude service, but brilliant food.

Ordered chips and curry sauce and a cup of tea to eat in. We were told the kettle was broken - well..why not buy a new one?! The chips were dried out, and the girl passed the plate over the counter with barely a word. I sat down then realised there was no cutlery on the tables. Went back to the counter and asked for cutlery...the girl just passed it over, no apology of any sort. The two girls behind the counter seemed too busy talking and looking at their phones to bother with any decent level of customer service.

Always use Kelly’s when we want takeaway fish and chips .. good food, good value and good service .. would definitely recommend

Very good haddock and chips and food in general. Reasonably priced too. Service friendly and good except forgot a sauce we asked for. Really enjoyed eating outside on the balcony on a lovely sunny autumn day.

Always our go to when we visit Looe. Great fish and chips, could do with more seating as when busy, it’s difficult to find somewhere to sit down.

Went again for lunch...fish and chips cooked to perfection ...service really lovely and friendly ....dogs allowed in too...all in all perfect day out from where we live in Cornwall ...we will be back

I don’t understand some of the previous reviews - the haddock was beautifully cooked with a very thin and crispy batter, the chips were soft inside and crispy outside and the tea was obviously made by someone who actually drinks tea! Great lunch spot.

Really nice food however the portion sizes are terrible considering the price nearly £5 for a large portion of chips is average however the size of the portion leaves a lot to be desired

Food was just about passable after having to return it to the kitchen for being an inadequate temperature. I will look for alternative eateries next time I'm in Looe.

Went with my Husband for Lunch looked OK but fish was served up side down which I don't like the batter was like chewing what I would think be like cardboard the fish was so thin. the chips were very nice but considering we were in the restaurant upstairs thought 14.95 for what was supposed to be large cod and anything worth eating was chips. Definitely won't waste my money there again we not holiday makers as live locally will go round the other one in future. Just bit advice try liven batter up a bit as you can't expect it to stay the same way mixture all lunch time. Just a Thought.

Beautiful fish & chips & fish cakes

Returned home with 2 portions of fish and chips with curry sauce, costing £18.25 and what a disappointment it was. Chips undercooked, portion size of both the fish and chips was very small. I'm happy to pay a little bit extra in touristy fishing villages but this was a bit of a p*** take. Never again

Can't fault this place the food was lush and not badly priced

Visit here often on our annual holiday to Looe, we went tonight and it was lovely food, very plentiful large portions, friendly waiting staff and quick service.

A bit disappointing to be honest. Went in at 5:45pm and the first two things we ordered they didn’t have any of. We ordered mushy peas with our food, confirmed the whole order before we paid and they were on the receipt but weren’t in with the food so didn’t get everything we paid for. We also asked for no salt on the sausage we ordered and it was covered in salt. The food we did get was fine. Nothing extra special but decent fish and chips and the halloumi was nice and crispy. The girl who served us was nice too. Just be aware if you’ve not been before that there’s no free parking, you have to pay for a ticket in the car park next door for an hour, minimum.

Waited ages for food despite loads coming in after us to eat in and take away. Nearly £40 for 2 adult meals, 1 child’s meal and 3 drinks. Food was okay and fresh, fish was a little sloppy, how was it an additional £1.40 from a regular dish and chips to a large… pricing doesn’t add up No longer have outdoor seating and was fine eating in until a couple say next to us with a huge dog. Didn’t stay much longer as didn’t want to eat sat next to a huge dog and didn’t feel comfortable with it near out 2 year old. Food establishments should not allow dogs inside.

This place is amazing!calamari is incredible highly suggest getting it staff are amazing and kind food comes in a short amount of time if you come here on a trip I highly recommend coming here

Fantastic, best fish and chips I've ever had .....

With being in Looe I was hoping for great fish and chips and sadly I was disappointed. Slightly soggy batter than just falls off on the fish and some very under par chips at a premium price. Edible but same quality as any chip shop anywhere

Some of the best chips with quick and polite service from the staff, Can be a bit crowded in the cafe in the holiday season, but so can the whole of town!

We popped in here as we had just arrived in Looe and wanted some food. The server was most unfriendly and after I’d placed our order, was handed my receipt with a “there you go” from same girl. She had a very straight face and no personality whatsoever. We will not be returning nor will we recommend.

Went here on a late afternoon visit to Looe. Sat in the restaurant upstairs. Food was excellent, especially the chips. The menu in the restaurant only lists fish in the adults section, but if you ask they will do other things (I had jumbo battered sausage). Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was really down to being quite expensive. Two "small" cod and chips, one scampi and chips and one one sausage and chips plus coffee, tea, coke and a bottle of cider was £60.

Had the Best lunch here , Service was great ,very welcoming, dog friendly hosts. Would definitely recommend 👌. See you guys again in February . 😊.

Takeaway Chips Service was slow and chaotic. Food was bland. Being one of two chip shops in town, there isn’t any real competition so standards don’t have to be high and the next load of tourists will be there shortly! Staffed by youngsters with no customer service skills. When ordering chips, they should be ready almost immediately, not a 20 min wait for all the other orders to be processed. Also, if operating a queue system, put signs up so people know where to wait, no need for the aggressive shouting. If we hadn’t already paid, we would have gone elsewhere.

Visited here on a busy Tuesday just after some rain made everyone leave the beach. Ordered sausages and chips (two portions) and apart from the fact that the sausages were wrapped separately from the chips no real complaint. Staff were polite and the prices were good. Waiting time was quite quick considering it was busy. Meal was enjoyable and I would recommend visiting when in Looe

Had fish and chips twice whilst in Looe, first evening they were ok but the second evening I am not sure that the chips were even cooked, fish was grey and tasteless, no point in going back to complain as they have young people serving who shout at you as soon as you enter if you are stood in the incorrect place. Will not go back!

Really poor fish and chips. Chips were underdone, soggy batter on the fish, inconsistent portion sizes, we ordered two of the mini cod and chips and one fish was half the size of the other. Asked for salt and vinegar putting on but none of us could taste it. I guess living within an hour of the best fish and chips in the country at Whitby and Bridlington has spoiled us!

An outstanding fish and chip meal on our holiday, we visited here twice, I first had a regular sized fish and chip meal which I struggled to finish; and I usually have a massive appetite. Later on we visited again and this time I had their mini-cod and chips which was a perfect portion for me that time, sufficiently full without feeling like a beached whale after. It unfortunately gets very very busy here, but for understandable reason given the time of year and quality of the food being served. I cant accurately rate service as I didn't order this myself, but have no known reasons to fault them. Atmosphere only loses a star due to how crowded this shop can become. Thanks again for the excellent experience

We visited here today 19th of August 2024. We were greeted by a very pleasant young man. This young man continued to be our server. I can not say enough about this young man. He was polite friendly and he was willing to go above and beyond. I believe his name was Justin? He is a credit to your business and should be commend for how well he does his job. The food was also very good. All round great experience.

Staff were about 13, forgot our gravy. Not their fault being fresh out of the womb but the food was also absolutely flavourless. Do not recommend. Go to the kebab shop five minutes away and get a nice pizza to walk home with, spare yourself the pain of this place

This is the only bad review i have ever made out of many.Nice looking fish and chips resteraunt and takeaway with a lot of people queing you would think very popular. Fish, chips and peas for both me and the wife please. Waited ages for them and was even offering free drinks from the fridge for people waiting. When eventually,our number came up and we paid,went outside to eat them. Chips ok ish but the sprats they had caught that day were also inside my box and cooked in a thick batter to make them look bigger. Honestly 70% batter and 30% dry fish with all the taste fried out of it.Actually thought we had got someones kids meals. If you havent got any quality fish that can be served as a friday fish dinner then dont. Called at the co op on the way back for snacks in the campervan. Only 2 stars cos the chips were average

Kelly’s is our go to for fish and chips, always good food and always great service .

We visited Kelly’s on a Monday evening during our stay in Looe. We sat in the restaurant upstairs. Put order was taken quickly and drinks arrived promptly. The portions were huge!! Literally the best fish and chips I’ve ever eaten. My daughter doesn’t like chips but we persuaded her to try one this evening and unbelievably she finished my portion! Would visit here again!!

Had the fish and chips from the restaurant section, food was good quality traditional chip shop style and reasonably priced for the portion.

Lovely fish and chips and a cornish rattler! Sat inside to avoid the seagulls! Would imagine it's very busy at peak times but we were lucky on this day. Loved looe though, fantastic little place and the crabbing is fantastic.

Probably the best you could expect in looe but high prices poor service and below average portions and quality.

Lovely takeaway/restaurant near the start of the harbour walk in Looe. Had several portions of fresh Cod and Chips. Was able to make substitutions for curry sauce with no fuss. Got Panko Calamari Rings and Scampi. Normally, I'm a bit worried about the quality of those two but they were both amazing. Best squid I've ever had, for sure. Lovely staff, very reasonable prices and great tasting food. Smashing job, all.

Me and 4 friends came yesterday,the staff were pleasant the food was nice but overpriced and I was disgusted that if I wanted tartare sauce with fish chips and peas I would have to pay extra. I have NEVER in ANY restaurant had to pay for tartare sauce. I think it's mean and penny pinching to charge. But there are many places to eat in Looe. We won't be back.

Dined in, wished we hadn't. Large cod and chips it wasn't. More like a medium and more batter than fish. It was hot however, unlike the chips. Disappointing.

Visited here twice during our week in Looe. Both times were amazing. The fish was fresh and not greasy and chips were spot on. The curry sauce made a great addition.

Food was ordered quickly and arrived 10-15 minutes even when they were mildly busy. Food arrived fresh and hot and tasted incredible, not bad portions for the price.

Seriously good fish and chips, been going here for years and it's always fresh and delicious, really thin crispy batter and moist flaky fish. Not greasy at all

we stopped off for Tea whilst down on holiday, we used the downstairs seating area which was nice to be able to do in a takeaway( although they do have an upstairs resteraunt) the staff despite being busy were very polite and not rushing the customers. the food was done in a timely manner and really good value for money.

Below Average food. 2 pieces of fish one overcooked. Because of the abundance of fresh fish in Looe I was in the hope that the fish would have been ultra fresh with that translucent look when cooked mine was dry. The batter was greasy and heavy. The chips were ok!!! There are seating areas both inside and out. On a whole both areas could do with a good clean up and made more inviting. .Very disappointing and won’t be returning.
