The best restaurants serving British food in The Vale of Glamorgan South East

We went for my Granddaughter’s 16th birthday for a family meal, there was a group of young boys there ,there swearing was awful and very load , I asked to speak to the manager after a hour as it was very loud , he sent a waitress over to say he would speak to them , he never did he then sent a waiter over to say we could have £20 off the bill , it was t about the money it was a special occasion and it was ruined. The meal was average as I had been to Ego two days prior and that was really good . I think the manager should have come over to our table and apologised as that would have been good customer service. He obviously thought more of selling drinks to the young lads than people eating in the restaurant. I would have been better going to a Witherspoon’s.

Visited here today after travelling to Barry from Swansea to purchase a car! The guy we bought the car from recommended it to us. So we thought we’d give it a try! Well, I wish I could give more than 5 stars! This place was absolutely amazing. We obviously hadn’t booked, however when we arrived they found us a table immediately, we were served really quickly, and our food came out quickly too. We both had the Beef Sunday Roast, and it was phenomenal. The staff were great , the food was awesome, the restaurant was lovely, plenty of parking, I literally can not fault this place. So much so, I’ll definitely be returning even though it’s a fair old drive from Swansea, it will be 100% worth it. Highly recommended

We booked the Six Bells about 6 weeks ago for my husbands 70th birthday for a group of nine people. Friends went on the internet to look at the menu only it discover that it is shut. We have had no notice no contact from then to find out what is happening. My daughter phone them NO reply. I contacted Soul 'n' Smoke only to find out they are shut due to a gas leak and they might be shut for some time. We found out with only 3 days to go that Soul 'n' Smoke would not have been there as they are on holiday until 21st March . So very disappointed in the fact that The Six Bells could have contacted us to let us know that they had an emergency and had to shut then I would have had more time to find a new restaurant to book.

Called in on the way back from Cowbridge, what a find. Welcoming staff very accommodating. All five had a dessert and a drink , which were excellent . A must if you are in the area.

We had the most wonderful stay at The Fox And Hounds this weekend for my partners birthday with our two friends. Adam is the most wonderful host and couldn’t do enough for us. Very attentive and we did now want for anything. Adam you and your staff did a fantastic job this weekend. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay. Our room was beautiful and the food was incredible. Thank you so much for everything this weekend. We can’t wait to come back 🥰❤️

Beautiful place, lovely staff especially Jake the chef, great inventive dishes. Definitely recommend.

A lovely afternoon lunch. My wife and I visited this afternoon and were truly impressed with the food and service. I had the venison pie and it was one of the nicest pies I’ve eaten for a long time. I also ordered a side of onion rings and I was not disappointed. My wife had a beetroot and falafel ciabatta and again it was delicious. Wonderful atmosphere and service was great. We will definitely return

Great meal tonight. We were a table of 6 . Starters mains and dessert were amazing. Can not fault the restaurant. Big thumbs up to the staff.

Staff were pleasant efficient and very friendly, will definitely be going back very soon and I can’t wait to go back……..

Unfortunately it looks like the Beachtree has closed. A favourite place we have visited many times and we will miss our Christmas visit this year. Let’s hope it opens again in the coming months.

Lovely food and lovely old fashioned pub. The guy was on his own doing everything serving, taking orders, cooking but he did an excellent job under really trying circumstances. All four of us enjoyed our food and will definitely be going back, we went because our first visit was for an excellent Sunday roast and our second visit didn’t disappoint.

The cafe was very busy, when mine and my daughters food arrived it was abysmal..food wasnt cooked properly. Fries were raw, couldnt eat it. Never going again.🤢

My daughter & I popped here after a short drive. After a sudden bereavement we decided that we wanted to go somewhere quiet so that we could chat. The owners could not have known what we had been through but were the kindest owners that I think we’d ever met. Both of us had allergies and they went way beyond what we would have expected. Many thanks to Nico for his kindness and gentle manner with us. When we feel ready we will definitely go back and thank them for their kindness 🙂

We have been visiting the Casa Paco restaurant for a few years. Each meal is better than the last and we’re always made to feel welcome. The meals are consistently high standard, I can’t wait to go again. We had many deliveries in lockdown and they were always piping hot and fresh. Karen and the team are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for us. My favourite it the fillet steak and Rossini sauce - highly recommend!
