I don't usually write reviews but this place made my day today. What a lovely place! My first time in Barry, I thought I'd pop in and get a frozen yoghurt for my best boy as I could see the freezer from the doorway as we were passing. There was water out the front for dogs, so my boy had a quick drink and it looked fairly quiet inside so we decided to go in for an early lunch. The service was excellent, where we sat was very clean, calm, comfortable - just really, really lovely. We loved the dog wallpaper, plates, menus, etc. Plenty to choose from, we ordered a couple of tuna-mayo toasties, a milkshake and cappuccino along with a sausage and frozen yoghurt for the dog. Well, he was treated like royalty with his own water brought over and his sausage cut up in a little bowl, and he loved all the fuss from everyone. He had a great time! Will definitely return the next time I take a trip to Barrybados and happily recommend to anyone (with or without a dog). The food and drinks were delicious and reasonably priced but the service really was superb. (Thank you for making us so welcome!)

We attented today for afternoon tea for my husbands birthday and were so impressed. The afternoon tea in itself was amazing! All freshly homemade made and delicious with the tastiest warm scotch eggs and scones ive ever tasted!! It was also a really decent portion as afternoon tea for 2, fed 2 adults, a 4 year old (and a baby) and we still had a takeaway box. We went with young kids who were making a fuss so we moved to the back seating, out the way and there were no issues/bother letting us move our pre-booked table as there was space. Staff were polite and lovely and they even popped on my husbands favourite band which was just lovely. Defo recommend a visit. And the clifftops park is directly opposite to keep little ones busy if needed.

This is an excellent venue, been coming here for a few years. Staff always friendly, prices are good and portions good size. Place is always spotless. Thoroughly recommend a visit to this premises, one of Penarth's hidden gem's.

We were walking along the pier on a hot afternoon. Fancied a whipped ice cream and saw this place give it a try. We had a mixture of ice cream on tubs, whipped ice cream on a traditional cone with flake. All good but a little on expensive side. The guy who runs it is retired chatty all good.

We found this little gem and the food was very good. Breakfasts with buttered toast, proper job! Very friendly too. Just what we needed after our drive up from east Devon for a local funeral. 10/4/2024 (3 ladies)

This pub has been bought by the villagers. It’s is wonderful in so many ways. Cowbridge seems to be a black hole of decent food aside from the hare and hounds and maple and bean. This felt like a proper community pub in the 90s. The staff were all amazing. The food was amazing. There wasn’t a 400% markup on rubbish wine. The service as great. The atmosphere was lovely. Great starters of crab and squid were followed by perfectly cooked steak. The doughnuts with custard cream and strawberries were lovely. No rip off frozen food or “small plates” that nobody likes here. Go and support places like this. The rest of cowbridge eateries need to up their game.

Very nice place, good service and lovely food. It was great to sit outside even though it was raining a little bit. I just think they need to sort out the kitchen ventilation as sometimes you leave there with your clothes stinking of cooking. Good value for money. Well worth a visit.

Having been in the lunchtime we decided to book a family evening dinner. Unfortunately you can't book online but a quick phone call got the booking sorted after being advised the kitchen was not open Monday nights. On arriving you have to walk through smokers on the door step which is a little off putting. Then the family dining was next to the darts team evening. It would have been great to have been told this to avoid when booking. As the language used was not child friendly, nor was the vaping conducive to eating. The customer service was excellent.

Great service including phone call to book and dining experience. Food was great and really good value. They welcomed our 2 dogs and made us all feel welcome. The setting is beautiful. It was so good we went back the next day! Looking forward to going back when we return in 2 weeks!

We went here following glowing reviews on social media and here on trip advisor. Very disappointed with our lunch. You have to order at the bar and pay include the tip without the knowledge that they earned it! Our lunch which was from the small plate menu Lamb, and portion of chips. It took 40 minutes to arrive even after a reminder. others near us had theirs served before us even though we had arrived first. We sat on a table in the middle of the restaurant. We seemed to be isolated, window seats on larger tables were available but not to a 2. We quite often find this in some establishments but are usually offered a better table when requested. When we left 6 customers left. Oh dear, we shan't be back. By the way we find the shop also expensive. Other deli's offer more and better value.

Unusual for these days - the pub does not serve food. Pleasant welcoming and friendly bar staff, six ales on offer - good. Not the most comfortable seating for those who are not vertically challenged (low wooden back support). Toilets need updating. Expect very colourful language from clientele. Returned end of March 2025, nice welcome from the staff, the one ale we tried was poor, place looks fairly run down, sadly this looks like another pub on borrowed time.
