Willmore’s is absolutely awesome! What a wonderful addition to the Cliff Tops! Amazing food and super friendly service. Definitely the number 1 choice for the BEST ICE CREAM in Penarth! You can see the love and care and professionalism that goes into running this excellent 5 star business. Watching it grow from day one, it has exceeded expectations. Whether a hot day visiting with friends where the kids can have delicious ice cream and adults can enjoy a sunny pint or a cold winter day for a flap jack and hot drink…. Willmore’s is the place to be. LOVE IT!

First time for us having a breakfast at Willmore's since they moved premises. What can I say, same great quaility and kept us full until mid afternoon. Nothing is too much trouble here and it shows by how busy they are. Keep up the good work guys.

Myself, my partner and my two young children absolutely love visiting Wilmores. It’s the perfect location being right opposite a great playground and on the cliff tops where there are beautiful views and a lovely walk. Not only that, but the coffee is fantastic, the cakes are delicious and homemade and the staff are simply brilliant. Matt and Charlotte are the owners and you can tell that they’ve poured a lot of love into the place. If you’re visiting try a scotch egg! You won’t regret it!

Amazing service and fantastic location. I am often here with my dog, and bring family and friends here when they visit because it is such a great venue. Staff are efficient and friendly. The dog treats are a huge plus. I attended a day-after-the-wedding breakfast gathering in the gardens there in July 2024. Absolutely fabulous and owner Charlotte couldn't have worked harder or done more to ensure that everyone attending was well fed and well watered! Fantastic place. Go there!

We visit this cafe on a regular basis. The staff are always exceptionally friendly and the food is home made, excellent and reasonably priced. My elderly Mum loves it too, the staff make a fuss of her and we can then have a nice walk along the cliff top. I can only assume the recent bad reviews have been about a different place because they are certainly not a true or accurate reflection of Willmores.

Stopped here for a quick lunch halfway round a long walk on the Wales Coastal Path. Although this little gem of a café was VERY busy (often a good sign) the team made me feel so welcome. Enjoyed an excellent coffee and the BEST club sandwich - all good quality ingredients and well seasoned. Sat in the 'secret garden' which was a chilled space - they also have seating overlooking the playground, so busy Mums & Dads can have a treat too. Will be back soon and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Willmore's - its about time this location had a quality spot for food & drink, obviously run by people who have a genuine passion for what they do.

We visited Willmore's for lunch before a trip to the cinema. The food was excellent, freshly made and well presented. I have a gluten intolerance and it was no trouble for the staff to cater to my needs. The food and service was so excellent that we returned the next day, where a staff member offered to make me a gluten free scotch egg, which was delicious, served with chips and salad. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very accommodating. We then returned again the following day as we had such a lovely experience. I would recommend this eatery for snacks, coffee and something more substantial. Well done Willmore's!

Great breakfast super service plenty of seating. Coffee was very good too. Right next to the children's playground. Perfect for breakfast.

Simply terrible!! ordered beef burger , egg&chips, ver basic agreed but burger came with a bun, no butter or any spread, no onions which you would assume you would have with a burger,and a burger over cooked . no effort made, just thrown together. get your act together guy,s as this was simply not good enough.

I had lunch with my three children here over the Feb half term. The chicken tikka sandwich was delicious, bread very fresh and the decaf coffee was great. The kids meal deals with sandwiches, crisps, drink and a yoghurt for £6 was a good deal. When my son turned his nose up at his cheese sandwich, the owner very kindly offered to make him pancakes, even when they had officially stopped serving them - they were excellent, and my son was delighted. We sat in the garden at the back which caught lots of sun, even in Feb, and it was nice to be out of the wind. This is a lovely spot, friendly staff, right by the children's playground - we'll definitely be back. Thanks again for the pancakes!

Went in while visiting Penarth, but clear attitude and off atmosphere from the start because we weren't from there/didn't fit the right 'look' of Penarth. Even though the policy was no outside food/drinks (which is understandable), so we were immediately addressed with awful attitude when we tried drinking our own drink. However, we HAD purchased some food/drink, so it was clear we were just not good enough customers for them (even though it was not busy). We weren't even given a chance to explain we had purchased from them and that dietary restrictions meant one person needed to drink what they had brought with them from home. Huge difference in attitude seen with other customers because they were in business attire.

We sat in the enclosed garden area and enjoyed our lunch - two club sandwiches and a fish finger sandwich. All came with coleslaw and salad garnish and skin on fries. Choice of granary or white bread. Friendly service. We read a lovely time and look forward to returning. As locals, it’s so nice to have a clean, friendly cafe to eat at and take visitors to.

The food was ok, but it took a long time to arrive and parts of it cold. It could do with a little more signage so customers don’t stand at the counter waiting for non existent staff when you should know to pop next door to order your food. I wouldn’t bother going there again.

We visited today (Sunday) we had been for a lovely walk in the sunshine. We were really looking forward to trying Wilmores as I heard great things! We got a table, hubby went to order 2 ploughmans lunches, a jacket patotoe and drinks to be told "no food" was being cooked. It wasn't late it was only 2.15pm in the afternoon. We enjoyed our lattes but couldn't help feeling very disappointed. We went elsewhere for food. We only have Sundays where we can get out and about and visit these places like most people, as we work.

I have sampled a fair few breakfast baps in my lifetime and Willmore’s Breakfast Baguette is by far the best I have had. They do lovely caramel lattes and hot chocolates, and such fantastic service too. The outdoor seating area provides shelter from the rain and they even provide blankets on those chilly days. Such a great service from a relatively small small business. Very recommended.

Recently re-opened in a beautiful new settling on the cliff tops. Fabulous cofffee and snacks - there’s always a warm welcome. Dog friendly too - our lab Toby loves the puppucinos! 🦮 If you’ve not visited yet it’s a brilliant pit stop for a warm up on a wintery walk, would highly recommend 💫

We love Wilmore’s. The food is so so good and great value for money. Since lockdown we have been enjoying their takeaway menu. The corned beef pie is to die for! Staff are always friendly and super helpful.

The guys at Willmore’s hosted a 70th birthday gathering for us in January. The food was fantastic and the service exceptional, they couldn’t do enough for us. I would highly recommend!

This was the first time that I had visited Wilmore's 1938 and on a cold, dark, damp and miserable evening, we had the warmest welcome from the hosts and owners, Charlotte and Matt. Not only is this restaurant tastefully decorated and serves lovely food, it has character, and, it's past contributes to the history of Penarth. Matt will gladly tell its story and, together with Charlotte, have added objects of interest into the restaurant's decor that were found when the building was renovated. I won't spoil the story, go and see for yourself . On this occasion, we had hired the venue for a private birthday party. Nothing was too much trouble, and every effort was made to make it special. I cannot recommend Wilmore's 1938 highly enough - give it a try and as they say in Spain, "Qué aproveche!"

Willmore's hosted a private Birthday party for us and every detail was just perfect! We opted for the prosecco on arrival and grazing table - both went down very well with all the guests. We were able to supply our own Spotify playlist which was then played during the evening - which was a lovely touch.Willmore's even arranged a birthday cake for us - which again was superb! All of the above was coordinated over email as I live abroad and I cannot fault the communication or delivery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them for this type of event.

Huge thanks to Charlotte and her team for sorting out a cracking buffet for guests at my 40th party. It was incredibly easy to organise, Charlotte took control and I didn't have to do anything! The food was delicious and was presented in a really arty and contemporary way. Lots of guests commented on how good it looked and tasted. Thank you!!

I visit Willmore’s on a regular basis. It’s such a friendly place to go whether it’s on my own or with family and friends. Nothing is too much trouble which is a big plus to me. The food that I have had there is second to none. I highly recommend here.

I had my 50th birthday party at Wilmores last night. Charlotte was fantastic, the grazing buffet was outstanding and the staff made sure that all my guests were well looked after . My party was for a small number of people and this is an ideal venue for an intimate private party. I was so pleased and we all had a fabulous night. Possibly the best place in penarth for breakfast/daytime dining.The menu is varied and there are plenty of choices to choose from and at great prices,When we arrived the service was friendly and when we were ordering and being served they was attentive and quick to any requests we made. When the food arrived it was fresh,tasty,warm and plentiful. Since we have visited many times and they are always consistent on every level which is more that can be said for some of the other pretentious establishments in the area. If you want good honest, fresh and tasty food at a great price in Penarth then look no further than Wilmores.

Lovely spot for coffee and food, and a real asset to Penarth. We visited today for lunch and have some breakfasts and a fish finger sandwich. Some fantastic ingredients and service, in a building with real history.

Just called in for a coffee, had scone as well both very good. Can recommend, God service with a smile as well, don't always get that nowadays.

I had Willmore's do the catering for my wife's surprise birthday party in Penarth and it was brilliant. There was a great selection, it was reasonably priced and the food was delicious!

We were looking for a place to have a full English in Penarth as a birthday treat and discovered that the two most likely places didn’t take card, were in the 21st century, right?

Five of us went for their excellent Sunday lunch today. Wow! Great service and feels like a wonderful Sunday lunch at home - really tasty, huge portions and we are all stuffed. Thoroughly recommend

Called in for a quick espresso, brilliant orangey notes followed by treacly liquorice finish with no bitterness. Friendly staff good menu options for all. Highly recommended.

Lunch was Toasties... Cheese & Onion and a Tuna & mayo...with salad and sweet potato fries. The bread was lovely, brown with seeds, hand cut...hence the doorsteps! :)

We have visited Willmores several times for coffee and lunch and were so impressed that we decided to book a party for our daughter's 18th birthday party. The owner is extremely helpful and menu choices are very flexible with all the food being home-cooked and selected to suit our rather fussy group of teenagers. They also allowed us to turn up early to decorate the room, and were very relaxed compared to other venues we approached. My daughter had a fantastic evening and I would absolutely recommend Willmores as a party venue for young adults and grown ups alike! I hope this lovely local business goes from strength to strength.

We absolutely love Willmores and have had several amazing Sunday lunches and weekday visits since it opened. (I can't believe it's taken me this long to write a review!). The food and service has always been outstanding and we love the friendly, family-run atmosphere. Whatever ends up on our plates or in our bowls is always fresh and delicious and whether you're drinking coffee, draft lager/craft ale or a glass of wine, there's a great choice on offer. We'd really highly recommend the Sunday lunch. It's all homemade, the meat is sourced from our favourite local butcher and they serve the best Yorkshire puds and roasties we've ever eaten in a restaurant. You will not be disappointed by the portion sizes, yummy gravy or variety of veggies on offer either and the puddings are just too good to resist. (You have to try some homemade cake if you're there for a cuppa or coffee on a weekday!). An extra treat on our last Sunday lunch visit was the live music - not something you really find around here! It made for a great ambience. The team there seem to have thought of everything and we can't recommend them highly enough. Go and sample it for yourself! You won't be disappointed

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Willmores celebrating my sisters baby shower on Saturday. Willmore’s were so accommodating to our needs and the food was fantastic. I highly recommend this venue and will be booking it again in the future.

Visited today for lunch with smallest son. Shared a ploughman’s board and fish finger sandwich. Absolutely delicious food, the ploughman’s is enormous and we’ve brought the leftover cheese home. Great value for such good quality food, super-friendly service, highly recommended 😊

We visited willmores for a birthday treat and tried the afternoon tea. We had both a standard afternoon tea and the gentleman’s afternoon tea to share between four of us and I have to say every aspect was lovely. The whole selection was homemade and there was plenty of it too!!

My mother and I booked an afternoon tea as a birthday celebration. I was delighted by the choice which included homemade savouries and cakes. I love the fact that there was a Gentleman's afternoon tea option which looked so good, we had one of each! The burger( homemade, of course) and chicken wings were delicious. I would highly recommend this place both the food and service. Matt and Charlotte were great hosts and you could tell they were passionate about what they did.

First time at Willmores and we weren’t disappointed. The food and service were both excellent and we can see why they get such good reviews. We would definitely recommend and will be going again as soon as we can.

Recently discovered this place after walking past many times. We have been in about 10 times since in three weeks. Lovely breakfast (the full Welsh is terrific value), very good dairy free cakes and super friendly staff. Dog friendly, baby friendly and dairy free friendly - what a find.

Not a place to relax , more a eat ,drink and go sort of place . Sat here early morning for breakfast ,and found the staff very loud , talking among themselves with no consideration for the clientele . Trying to read the paper , but just couldn't relax . Coffee ok , food ok , but not a place to chill .

Willmores Cafe Penarth is the place to visit! Great food, service, atmosphere! Ploughman’s lunch “to die for”! All food freshly cooked and at a very reasonable cost! Cannot recommend too highly. Drop in for lunch or just a cuppa!

Really good breakfasts, I had the full Welsh and my daughter had the vegetarian version. Very non greasy, really couldn't fault the food, extremely well priced fo the quality of ingredients. Great customer service, will definitely go again.

Went out for husbands birthday lunch. Sat outside on a lovely sunny watching the world go by. Staff and food was amazing. Ordered the burger and corn beef pie. The burger was the best burger I've tasted so juicy and succlent and the corn beef pie was yummy. Nice portions too☺

What can I say I have been a customer of willmores since it has opened and every time I go in the food seems to get better nice portions and very well priced the beer goes down lovely no matter what the weather and there is always a good variety the staff are quick and friendly and always very polite

My partner and I went to Willmores on Saturday and were left a little disappointed. Maybe we caught them on an off day and they got distracted by the Royal wedding or the Cup Final.

Booked for one of their monthly Sunday lunches & also to celebrate my 50th with a couple of friends. From the moment I made the booking, to popping into speak to the owner, to arriving on the day, it was 1st class service.

Discovered Willmore's on a cold Saturday afternoon, in need of a late lunch. Service was immediate, and food (all home made we think) was excellent. A good example of a small privately owned and run café.

Great latte and cappuccinos- really super tasty flapjacks and shortbread. Very relaxed comfortable atmosphere- and lets well behaved dogs sit quietly with you. Will come again

Willmores hasn't bèn open very long but is a winner. They allow well behaved dogs inside whic is rare. The food is delicious and they will serve requests if you're not sure what to have. Great servers, nothing seems to be any trouble. Lovely fries too.

A great improvement over the dreadful bistro that was here before. Had a tasty breakfast toastie and strong flat white. Will return.

We visited this morning, myself and a wheelchair user. Although there are two steps into the cafe, the owner said that they had ramps they could put out for us, which they did, I walked backwards on to the ramps and the lady helped me with wheelchair.

We visited Penarth last Monday with my elderly mother in law and my husband and popped into Willmore's 1938 - what a joy and a find! We only popped in for coffee and the service provided by the waitress working was exceptional. She goes way and above to make sure your stay is an enjoyable one. We didn't stop for lunch but we will be back as the food coming out looked fantastic - good quality and presented beautiful. The coffee was superb - again top quality ! This is a great place to stop if visiting Penarth a real gem! When I paid again the gentleman behind the till was a joy so pleasant and friendly. The staff on this day were a credit to the company and on this point alone we would go back as it was such an enjoyable experience. Can't wait to try one of their delicious lunches. A huge thank you for making it such a pleasant visit.

Booked here for a party of about 35 of us for a Monday night. Very well organised and helpful with moving tables about to suit us. We had booked the entire place for the evening with a buffet. What a successful evening! The food was out at the time we were told and was really great with a good quantity It's not the biggest place around but the service and friendly atmosphere made it a great night. I'll definitely be going back again for coffee and lunches!

I run as part of a group and we often have meals here for our socials. The food is great and there's lots of variety. I enjoy the chickpea burger most. The woman who runs the restaurant is an absolute star and is kind enough to fill our bottles up for runs if we pass. She just provided me with cold water at the end of a run. Great to see a local restaurant thriving, producing great food and supporting the community!

Sat outside (in their lovely seating area) at lunchtime today in the glorious sunshine, enjoying a ploughman's platter (quality ingredients and generous portion size, including delicious homemade scotch egg) and a great coffee. Lovely staff and super friendly owner. And really lovely with the children. Perfect lunch!

Friendly staff, lovely interior, nice bar area for a quick coffee, scrummy breakfast, lovely lunch my favourite 'fish finger sarnie' and a nice place to relax on a Friday or Saturday evening with a glass of wine, some nibbles or a full meal - front of restaurant has bi fold doors leading on to deck which is lovely on a warm evening.....

In Penarth a lot wanted to try something different for lunch so came across Willmore's and popped in nice friendly service and good menus so we Marilyn and me opted for a club sandwich Marilyn on brown me on white, the blend of coffee they use was very very nice in fact Marilyn had two cups that's a first, the cloud sandwiches were really good and on reflection we should have shared one portion but added fries, but there we are lessons learnt as they were filling no room for cake. Will visit again and have something hot next time.

Willmore's 1938 has become our new café of choice for a weekday breakfast or lunch. Food is always fresh, service is excellent and the place is spotless. Charlotte is a lovely host and always makes you feel welcome. There's a really good breakfast menu but don't be afraid to ask for combinations not on the menu - nothing is too much trouble. The lunchtime sandwiches are also delicious. Would highly recommend.

After a long drive back from up north my partner and I decided to pop in here for a bite to eat. The venue was clean and the decor was beautiful everything was finished to a high standard. We were served by a very friendly waitress who recommended a few dishes on the menu as we couldn't decide. We both went for burgers I went for veggie and he went for the stack. The food was amazing, nothing was a problem for the staff . They were very friendly and welcoming . This was just what we needed after the long journey. Can't wait to visit here again !
