Is ok , sometimes staff good , other times not so much.However , the main point is this has got to be the earliest closing fish and chip shop in Wales if not the whole of the UK!

Cannot recommend this place highly enough. Put in an order for 20 + meals, 48 items. The order was spot on, ready on time and served by charming helpful staff. Needless to say the food was also brilliant. Thank you Farnhams.

Visited farnhams earlier tonight. Requested a large bag of Chip - Very disappointed with quantity recieved looked more like a small scattering which cost £3.20p. Won’t be going there again. Nothing like Value for Money.

What a great pity to see this hitherto excellent Chippie going down hill so quickly. Having survived 3+ years of Covid, during which time the Staff went out of their way provide an exceptional service to the local community, Farnhams, it would appear, is now doing its very best to shoot themselves in the foot. Formerly they offered a choice of both a ‘large’ or ‘small’ Cod, but in recent weeks this has changed to just ‘Cod’. The large cod, though not cheap, was always exceptional with beautiful white flaky fish up to 40 mm thick in places. Compare this with last night’s £6 offering of a grey, textureless and tasteless 13mm strip of fish that would not have not passed muster in a Motorway Service and things just don’t add up. Yes, the Staff are still wonderfully helpful and polite and Yes, the place is spotlessly clean, but I’m afraid we won’t be back until such time as the fish is of a similar quality.

We ordered two portions of fish and chips with a curry sauce. The food was cooked to order, the portion sizes were excellent and the food was superb value for money. The food tasted really good and the fish was flakey and boneless with a crispy batter. The staff were friendly and Covid compliant and the fish shop was clean and well organised.

My parents asked me to post a raving review to say the fish and chips they collected this week's for my Mum's birthday were so delicious. Beautiful white fish, no bones and excellent covid safe service. Thanks so much!

Lovely chip shop best around. Lovely staff. Never been disappointed. Now known as Farnhams. They do great kids boxes and very good prices. Follow all guidelines.

New to the area and called in and ordered chicken curry off the bone and cod and chips, chicken curry all breast and thankfully no skin was delicious as was the cod and chips Highly recommended

Visited as our first night in the area, staying locally and our daughter visits this fish and chip shop.Really great service, couldnt fault it. Fish was a little greasy for my liking but it did have great flavour. Chips were great. Loved the different curry sauces, that went down well.

Went to have a Fish and Chips last night, the business has completely changed with young kits serving a product that they know nothing about. The actual fish was disgusting, all batter no fish. Would definitely not visit this establishment ever again and not recommend to anybody-else. Simon's Plaice was outstanding but good things come to an end and this has definitely has.

I’m so pleased that we have at last got a very decent Chip Shop in Llantwit Major, the quality of the food is excellent and all freshly cooked to order. I particularly like their fish as they coat it in a light batter. Had several fish & chip meals since their opening and each has been very enjoyable. Like the previous reviewer we stopped going to this Chip Shop as the previous owners used to serve a thick grungy type fish batter that was not enjoyable, the chips too were of poor quality.So well done Farnham’s - keep up the good work.

Simon's Plaice has been taken over and is now Farnhams. We had stopped going to Simon's because quite honestly the Fish and Chips were not so good anymore. However we decided to give it another try now it is under new ownership. It is much improved, let's hope it stays that way. We had the Pensioners Fish and Chips special, which comprises a small piece of fish in a scrumptious batter, chips, which were delicious and not the least bit greasy, and a selection of sides, which were Mushy Peas, Beans, Gravy or a choice of 3 Curry Sauces. We decided not to have a side. The fish and chips were delicious and plenty for my husband and myself, in fact I could not eat all my chips. At the price of £3.75 it is great value for money too. The staff were very friendly and happy. We will definitely buy our fish and chips from Farnham's in the future.

Large Fish and Chips, excellent, nice really clean plaice, very efficient staff. Fish cooked to order, so you have to wait but its worth it!

this chippy is ok. Great staff and food is reasonable priced, my only observation is the Batter is full of oil, would be great if there was a lightly dusted option also the sausages are and taste cheep

We bought Fish, chips & mushy peas from Simons Plaice, they were absolutely gorgeous. The chips weren't greasy, & the fish was lovely, with a good batter. They do a home delivery.

Food and service is great in Simons place however I do find the food to be a lot more greasy than it should be which gives me a bad stomach.

Just enjoyed the most gorgeous large Cod n chips with lovely curry sauce, served by lovely staff. The batter was lovely.

We have been customers at Simon Plaice for many years simply because they are the best. We buy a pensioners portion each once a week. Each portion is ample and comes with a wedge of lemon as standard. My wife has mushy peas with hers and I have curry sauce. The prices are very reasonable, the service is good and they also do a home delivery service too.

Often have fish and chips from here. Always wonderfully cooked and presented haven't had better anywhere in the UK. I can recommend the real onion rings, delicious! Very reasonably priced too, especially the pensioners special.

Highly recommended this traditional fish and chip shop, all the fish is cooked to order, so order when you go in! All the staff are efficient, friendly and polite.

Lovely fresh cod, plenty chips, we usually share one bag between the two of us, the fish is very large and the batter is lovely and crisp and food is usually wry had and on top of this they do a delivery for a small fee

Not the best fish & chips I've ever had but runs in the Top 5 for me. Great portions & the delivery is very unique for a chippy. Slightly too much batter on the fish for me but the chips are the best in town.

Grande cod y patatas fritas! ! Lo mejor que he tenido! No hay huesos, patatas fritas perfectas, personal agradable! El precio era razonable, teniendo en cuenta la calidad de la comida. Lo único que añadiría es que tener cuidado al hacer la salsa de curry. Como puede a veces sabor un poco aguadas. Pero, aparte de eso, es el mejor que he tenido en años! !

Excelente menú para elegir, el pescado y patatas fritas son siempre frescos, y los pasteles son geniales. El personal es joven, siempre amable y educado. Altamente recomendado

Haddock and chips x 2. Large fish, nice batter, very large 'small' chips. Cooked freshly while we waited. Good price. Will go there again.

Called in for a small bag of chips yesterday and waited in the queue, during which time a young lady came into the shop handed her meal back and asked for a refund, when asked the reason, she replied that it was 'disgusting' and she was unable to eat it, she was duly given a full refund. To get to the point, on arriving home I opened my bag of chips and tasted them, and, I have never been so disappointed with a simple bag of chips, I believe it was a combination of being undercooked and poor quality potatoes which made them chewy and tasteless. They were so bad that I threw them in the bin, something I've never had to do before. Although this is my nearest fish & chip shop I'm afraid that I will not be visiting them again.

I have eaten fish and chips in many different places but to have this outlet so close to home is a special treat. The fish is cooked to order thus very crispy and fresh. You don't have to wait long from the time of ordering and the short wait is worth it. The fish is usually quite sizeable and a 'half' portion of chips is enough for me. They are also very fresh and delicious. The staff are very pleasant and a wedge of lemon added to your box of food is a nice touch. I don't use Simon' Plaice too often as it really is irresistible when set on your lap in front of the tv and my weight would probably escalate from frequent visits. Try it if you are in the area. Superb

Fish is cooked fresh, so order as soon as you get there. Really lovely food here at very reasonable prices. If you like really white fresh fish, this is the place for you.

I use this fish shop a lot and it gives a wow factor, lovely and friendly staff.The food is fresh and cheaply priced and can get a large selection to eat and also they have a good and cheap delivery service, so where can you go wrong.

It's a rarity trust me, and a real treat for someone on a Gluten free diet. Very friendly staff and great fish and chips, mine is always cooked fresh which of course must make a difference, yet with just a simple phone order my fish supper is ready in 10 minutes. good value too.

Great food to be had here. Their new delivery service is good forward thinking for a chippie! Our regular chip shop now as I've always been made welcome by smiling faces. The interior decor is lovely and clean too.

Food is usually of a very high standard at Simons Plaice. However, on this occasion (having called in around half an hour before their usual closing time of 9.30pm), I was very disappointed - the chips had clearly not been replenished for some time and we're tired-looking and soggy, and there was very little selection in the range. This was only 9pm, and whilst they are still open serving food to paying customers then that food should be up to standard. I also feel that they close way too early for a chip shop. Normally my score would be 5. On this occasion it's a 2

Simons never fails to please, always great food and great service! The fish is fantastic, meal deals are great value and never have to wait long to be served even during extremely busy periods... I am a regular of this place now I am very impressed!

Good fish and chips to take away, well presented. Only down side to this place is the expensive price tag for what it is.

Fish cooked fresh to order. Lush chips, always cooked to perfection and never get any of the rubbish "end of the bag" type of chips. and friendly staff. Can't fault it.

I visit here about once a month most times very good but sometimes the fish can be a bit stale and crumbly, I like the inclusion of a lemon slice with your fish though.

Simon's Plaice is one of my favorite Fish'n'Chip shops - so much so that we often visit even though we have moved away from the area!!The fish is always fresh and well-sized....but the chips are the best, great quality perfectly fried...this place knows that it's far better to wait a few minutes for fresh chips than have some that have sat around for a while.Highly recommended, top job Simon - keep it up!!

Visited Llantwit Major recently and as you drive into Llantwit from the rhoose end you come across Boverton and this fish shop on the left opposite the pub. Firstly spotlessly clean and greeted by the lady behind the counter ordered cod and chips and had a chat whilst the fish was frying fresh. Locally owned by a family whom have been in the business for years from South Wales and also knowledgeable regarding the area. I left with my two portions of cod and chips and drove down to the beach went the back way to avoid the narrow lanes in the village of Llantwit. Down at the beach parked up and enjoyed our meals which nearly every one whom passed by commented on the smell gets the juices flowing. Fish lightly battered and plenty and an ample portion of chips served in a box which made it easy to eat your meal and it was still piping hot. Something about fish and chips at the seaside. We both went for a walk along the coast which made for a perfect day. Please Simons Plaice keep this up and may you continue serving up such delights.
