Started coming to darts every Tuesday , brilliant atmosphere , great laugh ! Since then this is our go to for food , food has always been great , always feel well looked after by Lee and Marie

The food was amazing and so was the staff so much selection to chose from this place has come a long way would recommend this place to anyone

Sunday lunch 10/10 Best Sunday lunch I've had in a very long time . Good variety of vegetables. Crispy roast potatoes and tasty gravy. This will definitely be a regular spot for Sunday lunch for me and my family.

Highly recommend the merrier harrier.. Marie a the team have turned this pub around a back its warm friendly atmosphere that was lost for sometime.. the pub has been freshly painted but still getting the original warm atmosphere whilst visiting. The food Sunday dinner I had just gone was the best I’ve had in there to date.. the place is extremely clean the kitchen is a 5 star rating also so you would be daft not to go an have lunch dinner or jusr a few bevvie’s an enjoy the environment an see it for yourself 👌💥

We visited for Sunday lunch with a large group, and it was fantastic! The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive, making sure our entire group was well taken care of. The roast was delicious, plenty of veg with a super tasty, rich gravy that everyone loved. Service was efficient despite the size of our party, and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a homemade Sunday lunch and excellent service!

Served by lydia and the manger Marie. No fault at all everything was perfect. Lovely pint and good food. Nice to see a change around from when I was last in a year ago.

Just moved into llandough from Barry. Needed food and drink to relax. Recieved a warm welcome from Lauren behind the bar. Was served a perfect pint of brains bitter. Lauren was very pleasant and interactive with myself and other customers. I felt relaxed after a stressful day. Ordered a rump steak for food. The meal was hot,inviting to eat on the plating side. Was just perfect. Compliments to the chef,it was perfect. Keep up the good work all of you. See you again, very soon. Well done Lee and Marie. You have a great team.

Warm, friendly and welcoming staff and great beer. Whilst I didn't have food myself, what went past me looked very good and I did give it consideration. I will gp back for the food.

A lovely gem on the outskirts of Cardiff. The staff here are wonderfully friendly, so much as to help a stranded bus driver in need of some help! There is a large amount of parking and it's easy to access from the 'diff, Penarth, Dinas and beyond. Highly recommend 👍

Totally turned around, Marie and Lee have breathed new life into the Harriers! Great food, friendly service and a cracking pint!!!

Amazing place for a drink and a meal. We visited here tonight june 1st, 6 of us had a meal and they were all exceptional. Staff all friendly and polite and the place including the toilets are spotless. Give this place a go, you won't be disappointed.

Burger buns were so hard we couldn't cut them let alone eat them. Put on booking that I was dairy free yet they had no dairy free custard or ice cream to accompany a dessert. Only exceptional thing about the place was the waitress.

Bit pricey with their paint and they can't make a decent cocktail, haven't tried the food

Popped in on a day out sun was out and the beer garden looked inviting though I didn’t eat the food coming out the kitchen looked and smelt amazing and was told it’s one of the best roasts around service was amazing from the new owner and her team 10/10

What a lovely welcome we all had from Marie and her husband. Nothing was too much trouble. Was so lovely to bring the two birthday cakes out (lit) and sing Happy Birthday to my sister and sister-in-law celebrating their 70th birthdays! Meals were lovely, good prices and good choice of food, including sharers, small plates, main, etc. Marie reserved an area for us so we were able to put banners and balloons up which looked great. Cannot wait for the afternoon teas and bottomless brunch (hopefully) to start! Will definitely be back, was such a lovely friendly atmosphere

First visit under the new management. Food is much improved - chips and nachos were notably yummy. Space has had a good spruce up, and is looking a lot fresher without losing any of the traditional local vibes. Staff friendly and welcoming. Just a few very understandable growing pains in evidence, but this looks like great news for the neighbourhood.

Excellent service from a young waiter named Alex Evans speedy and the food was the best Ive ever tasted definitely come again

Perfect little pub. Has an amazing atmosphere and if you ever go I recommend the southern fried chicken burger. It was so lovely and the staff there were awesome. Had a young lad serve me and he was polite and had a smile on his face which really added to the amazing atmosphere. Will definitely be going again

Visited here today (Sat 13th April 2024). We had a friendly and welcoming service, the food was outstanding and at a fair price. Will definitely be visiting again.

Fantastic value for money, great service and more importantly great food, totally enjoyed the experience, the Cowboy Burger was a firm favorite with the teens. Highly recommended, we will be back for sure :)

Come here quite often with my two children and it is such a friendly warm atmosphere every time we've visited !! The steaks are unreal better than miller & carter and half the price 👏🏻

Sunday dinner was lovely, definitely came again! Veg is in a separate bowl so you can choose how much you want on your plates- so much easier especially if you don't want loads. Cracking little pub and has turned around from previous visits. Staff are very friendly and even allowing changes to meals as I don't like BBQ sauce so swapped to hot sauce for my hunters chicken. Very good value for money and a reasonable pace for food. Look forward to my next visit

Wonderful staff and amazing food! Would recommend 100% for anyone who wants a proper local pub and some good grub. Had a good friendly chat with the landlady (Marie) and landlord (Lee) made me and my family really welcome. Will be going back again.

Highly reccomend, me and my husband popped here for some lunch we were greeted and served by the lovely Marie who was extremely welcoming and friendly. We came with our baby and she gave us a table with lots of room and informed us we're the baby changing area was . We both opted for a steak which did not disappoint , nicest steak we've had in a pub and such good value for money. We will definitely return , not just for the great food but the lovely welcoming atmosphere, so nice to go somewhere were you are felt your custom is appreciated.

A new person, Marie, has recently taken over the Harriers and has completely turned out around. Ignore any negative review posted before March 2024. Although they still have the obligatory Marsden's menu they have supplemented it with their own fayre which is amazing.

Finally the Harriers has owners that want to wake this pub back up. Great service, pints crisp, so much cleaner. The improvements in such a small time spell a great future!!

Just WOW. Whilst visiting family popped into pub with our Great Dane, Buddy. All received a warm welcome. Having a large bread dog is a joy but can come with challenges when socialising out. Not here!!!… New land lady is friendly, smart and highly knowledgeable of the industry. We really do wish you all the luck and will definitely be back. Like we did everyday of our holiday after this first visit. We ate at the Merrie Harrier once and really enjoyed it. Great selection of food. Lovely family atmosphere with a good balance of tradition pub banter. Can’t recommend enough. Please support these lovely people. You will not be disappointed. See you next time Marie and staff. Lovely meal at the Merry Harrier tonight with my family. Everybody enjoyed the food, fish and chips, steak and chips and Hunters chicken and chips all beautifully made. Lovely atmosphere seeing the community using it again. Well done !!!

I visited earlier to 20/3 2 pints 2 mixed grill 1 peppercorn sauce 1 garlic bread and onion rings. All very nice. We used to be regular for a afternoon meal but stopped after a previous landlady left during covid have found it very inconsistent...

Been a few times since the new owners have taken over. The place is definitely cleaner and the atmosphere is wonderful. They are so welcoming and happy to have conversation also. The food has been lovely and their Sunday dinners are absolutely to die for....

Car broke down outside the pub, breakdown rescue took hours to arrive so we sheltered from rain inside the pub. We were given a really warm welcome and amazing hospitality. We’re so grateful for this kindness as we’re both nursing students and had just finished a 12.5 hour shift. Thank you all so much

An old fashioned pub that could do with more patronage. This is a great pub in the sense that real pubs were. Friendly staff, good food and a warm atmosphere. I really recommend more people use it and take advantage of a great resource to the local community

The food was appalling, sadly our party were disappointed in the quality and the whole experience. Would definitely not recommend and only gave 1 star as that's the lowest I can give. I would also like to add the facilities were disgusting and in much need of a good clean

I didn’t expect too much while going for nice Sunday roast while trying out a pub I’ve never been to before. I was most definitely not disappointed. My afternoon went quite pleasantly with a properly cooked and warm beef roast with homemade Yorkshire puddings. I was shocked with how well the pub was put together and how excellent the staff are at their jobs Welldone all I will certainly be back.

Went there today on the 5th November had a Sunday dinner all the veg was cold hard and tasteless so it went back to be warmed up come back still cold gravy was warm and tasteless will not be going back there as it was disgusting

Went today 5,11,23 , quiet, staff mm OK, food, tastless and cold, only thing that was warm was the gravy, told them and when bought back out there was 1 roast potato that was hot and everything else was COLD. I would never go again or recommend this place to anyone

We visited the Merrie Harrier to celebrate my eightieth birthday on the 4th of October 2023. The service was excellent, the food first class, and the experience memorable. But what made the visit distinctive, was the care and friendliness of the staff.

Food was terrible, staff were friendly. Food reminded me of back in the 90s when my mum first discovered a deep fat fryer. Verly greasy and taste like month old oil. By far the worst food I've had. Shame because they used to serve great food a few years ago.

We went for my sons first birthday party, staff were lovely and atmosphere was good, will definitely be returning!

The food here is just OK, the curry tastes like a microwaved meal. Other things on the menu aren't too bad, however I did get served squid rings instead of onion rings. And alcohol free lager isn't included in the meal with a drink deal, but alcoholic drinks and other soft drinks are. The atmosphere is good and staff are very friendly

As soon as we opened the door, the "regulars" stopped talking, and all stared at us, we held our heads straight forward, sat down, and looked at the menu. There are lots of dirty tables, and there is no spare clean cutlery in the pots on the tables. We had to take our cutlery from the reserved table near us. The food was delicious, and the gentleman got us our sauces requested. We could overhear them, saying they'd been busy, but no one was cleaning the recovery process. We wouldn't return as initial walk in was embarrassing.

Very enjoyable. Charismatic place with good reasonable food. Hope it gets back to the nice vibrant pub it used to be. We could do with a reasonably priced carvery/Sunday dinner pub which always attracts people. Hoping for quiz nights etc to be added.

I have been visiting this pub/restaurant for getting on two years, and as a pub it is fine, mid range price-wise for the area. However, it has changed management many times and none of them can get the food right; the change of owner from...

Lovely staff which made my visit but pub was empty at 1:30 lunch time which I found unusual and although meals were reasonably priced mine was luke warm and steak a little chewy. Also onion rings that I love were burnt and inedible. Sorry.

Great pricing and the food was very nice, its had a few landlords recently and a bit of a bad rep but it seems to have turned s corner, well done all involved now.

Went for a birthday dinner and out of the 9 meals we ordered 1 was inedible, 3 were pretty bad (curries and spicy pulled pork), the veggie burger was ok(ish), the steak was ok and the prawn salad was nice. The chips were all over cooked, the poppadoms were stale and greasy and the peas were raw.

My Saturday mid-afternoon visit was on a showery day so the pub was pretty quiet when I was there. The place was neat and tidy and the service was friendly and helpful, I would call in again when visiting the area.

Excellent staff and food. New managers rebuilding the local pub so a few more punters will get it back to its very best now the foundations - staff, food and very reasonable beer prices - in place.

My sister was given the all clear of cancer today so we decided to go for a little drink and something to eat , what a great choice, they couldn't do enough for her the staff were bloody amazing to my sister, we live in Barry and we will be eating and drinking there again, PS thank you for what you done for my sister,

Went for a family meal with 13 of us in total and the wait for food wasn’t too long but the food was amazing itself, staff are very friendly and welcoming, will definitely be going again and would recommend to anyone!

Absolutely loved it food was good staff were absolutely amazing they went above and beyond for me and my family tonight and made my evening which was fabulous as I just had the all clear of cancer and they were so welcoming and really made my evening so thank you so much and we will be back for sure

The Harriers last night was lovely . The staff were very accommodating and food was great. Their in the process of refurbishing it and its looking a lot better now. Great pub happy memories there too.

Pub interior is under refurbishment as of the writing of this review; however, todays service was perfect. Andy’s staff this Friday evening (16th June) were incredibly friendly and ensured a fast service throughout the night. I ordered the steak and ale pie which tasted delicious - not to mention the chips which have that crispy yet soft structure. All food and drinks - especially the Brains SA - were served with a smile which made this pub one to revisit. Thank you, we’ll be back!

Lovely beer garden, great friendly service, cracking food and very reasonably priced. So pleased we popped in for lunch.

Disappointed with meal yesterday evening. Medium to well done steak was almost raw. No peas supplied. No tartar sauce for the Turf and Surf and all food tepid. Sadly we left before any staff were available for comment.
