Absolutely amazing welcome for my partner - Simon - and I for our Valentine's Night meal. Marie, our landlady, couldn't have been more welcoming, fussing over us to make sure that we had a fabulous night. The food was outstanding, the surroundings clean and welcoming and an overall friendly atmosphere and vibe. We will be recommending to friends and family and will definitely be back.

Great hosting skills by Maria, very welcoming & with a smile - nothing is to much trouble for Maria & her staff. Great food, steak was cooked to perfection & the ultimate southern fried chicken burger with chips was delicious & huge. Prices are good too. Enjoyed the experience left happy & full. Would highly recommend a visit We will definitely be back.

Amazing night here with the rugby with such a wonderful atmosphere. Landlady and landlord brought out chips and curry for everyone to enjoy. Can honestly say always a great experience here and would recommend couples and family to try this place. Good prices and lovely food and always friendly.

Had a fabulous lunch today, table of 7 all different meals and everyone said the food was beautiful! Great pub atmosphere with a full pub grub menu, looked delicious.

Popped in for a bite to eat after visiting at the hospital. It was a much better visit than I had with the previous owner. The food was tasty and the service felt much better. We will be back again.

Such a shame, really good food but failed to answer the phone all day, when we got there they said they closed the kitchen at 17.30 even though its normally 8pm what business does that on a Saturday evening if it wants to survive

Wow what I night. Went to the Merrie harrier last night for food with a couple of friends and wow I have to say that the service, food and atmosphere was immaculate. Staff were kind and patient and the food was decadent and filling. Will definitely be back soon

It amazes me these good reviews?? Took my elderly mum with her friends for a pre booked Xmas meal - Without telling them they cancelled the Christmas disco and Christmas karaoke and put on the boxing match instead on every screen. The pub was absolutely empty! Just a bunch of older ladies having to put up with the boxing in the background, it wasn’t even the main fight! They wouldn’t even put in some Christmas music in the background for them. If we’ve known this, we wouldn’t have gone . The best thing - The managers Happily sat and watched the boxing whilst eating a takeaway that they had brought in that stank the whole Place out! They knew we weren’t very impressed, but they decided to ignore us. Occasionally looking over with dirty looks! I felt so sorry And her friends – I can see why the pub was empty! I would never go there again! My starter was still frozen in the centre where they haven’t even bothered putting it in the microwave for long enough! The only thing I can say the younger members of staff Were very sweet and lovely. But myself, family and friends will never go again.

Fantastic cosy pub. Staff with a smile. The only negative thing here is prices. Maybe I'm just to accustomed to spoons. But 2 drinks for £12 a shandy and a spirit with coke is way to much. Apart from that ticks all boxes.

Marie and Lee (along with family) have transformed the Harriers, once again (after the shenanigans after the Malsdon takeover) it's a proper pub doing what a proper pub should

What a great night at the harriers, Marie, Lee and team made the night an amazing one! Karaoke to start the boxing off, building up to the main fight! The atmosphere and company were absolutely amazing! Couldnt recommend the pub enough for these events! Everything was spot on! Well done Marie, Lee and team, fab night! Just moved to the area, decided to try the local for a light lunch. It's much larger on the inside. Very clean and welcoming. The light lunch menu was reasonable and very tasty. All of the staff were professional and friendly. Will certainly be returning to see what it's like in the evenings.

Haven't been to the harriers in years and i have to say what a revamp. i love the new decor and the Christmas decorations add a very nice homely vibe to it. and i have to say, the staff are lovely. there was a young woman behind the bar and she was nothing but kind to us and very helpful. food came out quickly even though we arrived very close to closing and it was all very lovely food. thank you very much staff, keep up the fabulous work and we will definitely be back soon

Went for Sunday lunch once again. Everything was lovely, plenty of meat and fresh vegetables which was all very tasty. Service and atmosphere excellent. Would highly recommend.

After not having the best experiences over the past couple of years, me and my family decided to try this wonderful pub again. And it did not disappoint. Marie and staff could not do enough for you, making sure your needs were attended to. The pub is spotless and has had a lovely makeover since the last time we had visited. The food… absolutely delicious, all of our meals came out hot and fresh. Definitely have improved with the food as well. We will definitely be returning now that we can see it has improved so much. Thankyou marie and team for making mine and my family’s visit so special and for making us feel so welcome.

Not been in for a little while, but wow, it was nice to be back! Living around the corner we’ve been waiting for a wonderful local to enjoy….. great food! Attentive staff and lovely, clean and well presented surroundings……. Would definitely recommend to get back in here if you’ve not been for a while- what a transformation 🙌

the last time i came to the harriers was years ago and we stopped coming because the old manager made us feel unwelcomed and not appreciated in the business. the food the last time we came was also shocking. However, i have to say this was a major turn around in terms of food quality. the sunday roast came out piping hot and they were all so delicious. the roasties were crispy and the stuffing was beautiful. However, my favourite part of the meal was the carrots and the parsnips as they were crispy but still soft. a new experience for me. hats off to the chef or chefs if there is multiple. i will definitely be coming back to the harriers during the week for a nice meal. thank you so much for your hospitality and your kindness

Just moved into llandough from Barry. Needed food and drink to relax. Recieved a warm welcome from Lauren behind the bar. Was served a perfect pint of brains bitter. Lauren was very pleasant and interactive with myself and other customers. I felt relaxed after a stressful day. Ordered a rump steak for food. The meal was hot,inviting to eat on the plating side. Was just perfect. Compliments to the chef,it was perfect. Keep up the good work all of you. See you again, very soon. Well done Lee and Marie. You have a great team.

A lovely gem on the outskirts of Cardiff. The staff here are wonderfully friendly, so much as to help a stranded bus driver in need of some help! There is a large amount of parking and it's easy to access from the 'diff, Penarth, Dinas and beyond. Highly recommend 👍

Amazing place for a drink and a meal. We visited here tonight june 1st, 6 of us had a meal and they were all exceptional. Staff all friendly and polite and the place including the toilets are spotless. Give this place a go, you won't be disappointed.

Burger buns were so hard we couldn't cut them let alone eat them. Put on booking that I was dairy free yet they had no dairy free custard or ice cream to accompany a dessert. Only exceptional thing about the place was the waitress.

Bit pricey with their paint and they can't make a decent cocktail, haven't tried the food

Popped in on a day out sun was out and the beer garden looked inviting though I didn’t eat the food coming out the kitchen looked and smelt amazing and was told it’s one of the best roasts around service was amazing from the new owner and her team 10/10

What a lovely welcome we all had from Marie and her husband. Nothing was too much trouble. Was so lovely to bring the two birthday cakes out (lit) and sing Happy Birthday to my sister and sister-in-law celebrating their 70th birthdays! Meals were lovely, good prices and good choice of food, including sharers, small plates, main, etc. Marie reserved an area for us so we were able to put banners and balloons up which looked great. Cannot wait for the afternoon teas and bottomless brunch (hopefully) to start! Will definitely be back, was such a lovely friendly atmosphere

First visit under the new management. Food is much improved - chips and nachos were notably yummy. Space has had a good spruce up, and is looking a lot fresher without losing any of the traditional local vibes. Staff friendly and welcoming. Just a few very understandable growing pains in evidence, but this looks like great news for the neighbourhood.

Perfect little pub. Has an amazing atmosphere and if you ever go I recommend the southern fried chicken burger. It was so lovely and the staff there were awesome. Had a young lad serve me and he was polite and had a smile on his face which really added to the amazing atmosphere. Will definitely be going again

Visited here today (Sat 13th April 2024). We had a friendly and welcoming service, the food was outstanding and at a fair price. Will definitely be visiting again.

Come here quite often with my two children and it is such a friendly warm atmosphere every time we've visited !! The steaks are unreal better than miller & carter and half the price 👏🏻

Sunday dinner was lovely, definitely came again! Veg is in a separate bowl so you can choose how much you want on your plates- so much easier especially if you don't want loads. Cracking little pub and has turned around from previous visits. Staff are very friendly and even allowing changes to meals as I don't like BBQ sauce so swapped to hot sauce for my hunters chicken. Very good value for money and a reasonable pace for food. Look forward to my next visit

Wonderful staff and amazing food! Would recommend 100% for anyone who wants a proper local pub and some good grub. Had a good friendly chat with the landlady (Marie) and landlord (Lee) made me and my family really welcome. Will be going back again.

Highly reccomend, me and my husband popped here for some lunch we were greeted and served by the lovely Marie who was extremely welcoming and friendly. We came with our baby and she gave us a table with lots of room and informed us we're the baby changing area was . We both opted for a steak which did not disappoint , nicest steak we've had in a pub and such good value for money. We will definitely return , not just for the great food but the lovely welcoming atmosphere, so nice to go somewhere were you are felt your custom is appreciated.

A new person, Marie, has recently taken over the Harriers and has completely turned out around. Ignore any negative review posted before March 2024. Although they still have the obligatory Marsden's menu they have supplemented it with their own fayre which is amazing.

Finally the Harriers has owners that want to wake this pub back up. Great service, pints crisp, so much cleaner. The improvements in such a small time spell a great future!!

Just WOW. Whilst visiting family popped into pub with our Great Dane, Buddy. All received a warm welcome. Having a large bread dog is a joy but can come with challenges when socialising out. Not here!!!… New land lady is friendly, smart and highly knowledgeable of the industry. We really do wish you all the luck and will definitely be back. Like we did everyday of our holiday after this first visit. We ate at the Merrie Harrier once and really enjoyed it. Great selection of food. Lovely family atmosphere with a good balance of tradition pub banter. Can’t recommend enough. Please support these lovely people. You will not be disappointed. See you next time Marie and staff. Lovely meal at the Merry Harrier tonight with my family. Everybody enjoyed the food, fish and chips, steak and chips and Hunters chicken and chips all beautifully made. Lovely atmosphere seeing the community using it again. Well done !!!

I visited earlier to 20/3 2 pints 2 mixed grill 1 peppercorn sauce 1 garlic bread and onion rings. All very nice. We used to be regular for a afternoon meal but stopped after a previous landlady left during covid have found it very inconsistent...

Been a few times since the new owners have taken over. The place is definitely cleaner and the atmosphere is wonderful. They are so welcoming and happy to have conversation also. The food has been lovely and their Sunday dinners are absolutely to die for....

Car broke down outside the pub, breakdown rescue took hours to arrive so we sheltered from rain inside the pub. We were given a really warm welcome and amazing hospitality. We’re so grateful for this kindness as we’re both nursing students and had just finished a 12.5 hour shift. Thank you all so much

An old fashioned pub that could do with more patronage. This is a great pub in the sense that real pubs were. Friendly staff, good food and a warm atmosphere. I really recommend more people use it and take advantage of a great resource to the local community

The food was appalling, sadly our party were disappointed in the quality and the whole experience. Would definitely not recommend and only gave 1 star as that's the lowest I can give. I would also like to add the facilities were disgusting and in much need of a good clean

A warm welcome and helpful service, food was excellent and a large varied menu with some specials up to 3pm for each day , also a larger option for those who were really hungry , just good hearty pub grub
