We found this little gem and the food was very good. Breakfasts with buttered toast, proper job! Very friendly too. Just what we needed after our drive up from east Devon for a local funeral. 10/4/2024 (3 ladies)

On the way to airport always allow a couple of hours to pop in and have good breakfast and if you’re lucky you can chat to the parrots as well. DON’T DRIVE PAST!!

Popped in for a full cooked breakfast. I had a full English, extra egg ,half and half with a lovely hot latte. The owners were very friendly and attentive. You order in the shop then walk through to the restaurant. All the food was cooked beautifully and very tasty. The buttered toast deserved a special mention, soft, light, crispy and with lashings of butter. The only improvement I might suggest would be the sausages, which seemed to be a basic type, apart from that we came away feeling very full indeed. I can thoroughly recommend this breakfast and will be returning as soon as my belly returns to normal.

We pass this establishment weekly and have often been tempted to stop for breakfast, we’ll, we did today and really enjoyed. Piping hot, well cooked breakfast served by very friendly staff at a reasonable price. I would be happy to pay extra if they would swap standard catering sausages for butchers sausages , just a personal preference.

Choice of small or regular breakfast. Had small breakfast with coffee, Reasonable food with fresh toast. Tinned tomatoes, and presumably owner stayed in room while we ate our food, a bit disturbing as he could have left the rom.

It advertises that it's the best breakfast in Wales and it certainly does not disappoint. Every single morning of our week long stay in Bonvilston myself, my husband and our son ate breakfast here. Myself and my son had the small (for me) and large (for my son) breakfast and everything in it was locally sourced, fresh and perfectly cooked. You get a cup of tea or coffee with your breakfast at no extra cost which is great. The Old Village Shop/Cafe is also the local village shop and my husband must have cleaned them out of their glass bottles banana milk it was so good. This is a lovely quaint local cafe and shop and the staff were very welcoming and friendly too

After a long night shift I couldn't think of anywhere better to go than the Village Shop and Cafe in Bonvilston, Vale of Glamorgan. Excellent cooked breakfast and served by friendly staff. This family business has gone above and beyond throughout the pandemic supporting the local community. Thank you to Andrew and the team. I will return again soon. :)

Me and my wife recently stopped at the Old Village Shop & Cafe for a takeaway breakfast roll and one of their daily specials. Wow! My delicious roll included a generous helping of sausages, bacon, hash browns, and, as requested, eggs easy over. No wonder they have such a good reputation for breakfasts! As for my wife, she was blown away by her chilli con carne, and their chips are to die for. Really friendly service (thanks Julie and Victoria!), and they made us feel very comfortable with their COVID safety measures in place. They had some amazing looking cakes too!

Been going here every couple of weeks for a breakfast roll, went today and ordered a large roll with no butter and a very small amount of brown sauce. I had three sausages, hash browns and egg. The roll arrived and even though I had asked for a small amount of sauce they felt it necessary to empty an entire bottle of sauce onto the roll. I took it back and showed the counter server to have the reply you can have your money back. I did not want my money back I wanted an apology but that did not come. I refused the refund and told them I will never return.

Travelling from Bridgend on the A48 and came across this little gem. Really tasty and a considerably large veggie breakfast and good Americano coffee. Friend had small breakfast which wasn’t small. Can’t imagine how big the large breakfast would be? If you’re passing you won’t regret popping in for a bite to eat

We called in to have a post golf breakfast following recommendations from some fellow golfers from Cotterell Park, (which also has a great breakfast menu and friendly staff). We had a lovely friendly welcome from the staff at the Old Village Shop. The 4 of us opted for the Regular Breakfast, which was superb and good value for money. We were glad we did not go for the Big breakfast as the Regular was big enough and it came with toast and tea/coffee.We got chatting to the owner, Andrew and his wife and it was plain to see that they were very proud of their business and strived to only supply the best products from local suppliers such as free range eggs etc etc.We will certainly go back and try their Curries and Lamb Shank etcIt is a great stop off if you want a quick good quality meal at very reasonable prices.Plenty of free parking space.

On visiting this cafe with my friend we ordered our breakfast and sat at a table. After 5 mins we were told very agressively to move table with no reason. The cafe was very quiet. Understandably if it was busy and the 2 of us had taken a table of 4 and we were asked politely to move, then there would have been no problem. We asked for our money back(£7.50 per breakfast) and we were physically thrown a £10 note. Many words later we were given a full refund of £15. I can't see how a place with such appauling customer service can keep any customers. I can't comment on the food as I didn't get to enjoy my breakfast. This place was recommended to me for the food but I only have bad things to say about this place. Such a shame.

Nice breakfast, but not "The Best Breakfast In Wales", as advertised. The eggs were cooked hard, and I like soft yolks. The tea tasted bad, but I think that's the water in the area. Everything else perfect. Good, but not the greatest.

I think the best breakfast in Wales is a bit of an exaggeration. However stopped here and had a decent breakfast. Lovely thick buttery toast. Found it strange that breakfast included tea or juice but you had to pay 50p extra for coffee. It was full of Police - so it had to be good!

This pub has been bought by the villagers. It’s is wonderful in so many ways. Cowbridge seems to be a black hole of decent food aside from the hare and hounds and maple and bean. This felt like a proper community pub in the 90s. The staff were all amazing. The food was amazing. There wasn’t a 400% markup on rubbish wine. The service as great. The atmosphere was lovely. Great starters of crab and squid were followed by perfectly cooked steak. The doughnuts with custard cream and strawberries were lovely. No rip off frozen food or “small plates” that nobody likes here. Go and support places like this. The rest of cowbridge eateries need to up their game.

We have been visiting the Casa Paco restaurant for a few years. Each meal is better than the last and we’re always made to feel welcome. The meals are consistently high standard, I can’t wait to go again. We had many deliveries in lockdown and they were always piping hot and fresh. Karen and the team are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for us. My favourite it the fillet steak and Rossini sauce - highly recommend!
