On a short visit to South Wales, we wanted to visit Barry because of it's links to a certain TV programme. Unfortunately it was a wet, windy autumn day. The actual sea front at Barry has been extensively modernised and now has great walks to explore. It still has some of the old more traditional sea side businesses, which are important to retain. Bay 5 is in a great location, and provides good quality coffee and snacks, at a (slightly) higher price than some of the traditional businesses nearby - we felt there was room for both here. In summery, great coffee, pancakes with friendly/helpful owner/staff.

Faced racism when visiting with my family. Will never recommend this place for anyone visiting wales. Food was sub par but it was the behaviour of the staff that completely ruined our mood and vacation.

Popped in when we arrived in Barry Island for coffee, sat outside under the shelter of the small canopy. Super view in the fresh air. Returned later in afternoon for bacon rolls and pancakes, where we sat indoors. Cannot fault the food or the location. Staff were super friendly and efficient. Highly recommend.

Being locals, we often stop here for a coffee/lunch break and have also enjoyed several evenings here. Last weekend we hired it for a family event (17 of us ranging from toddlers to pensioners) at which we enjoyed afternoon tea with glasses of bubbly. What can I say? It surpassed our expectations. The food was amazing and the vegetarians and vegans in our group were catered for exceptionally well. The sea views are truly amazing here - even on a wet and windy March afternoon. This is a lovely venue; we appreciated the fresh flowers on the tables and the bunting which they had kindly agreed to put up. However the outstanding feature without doubt, is the staff - from the booking process with Elena to the amazing Jane and Jeannie who treated us like royalty on the day - nothing was too much trouble - it was a first class experience that we will always remember with great fondness. Thank you all - including the staff whose names I don’t know who also helped out on the day. Highly recommend this fabulous venue. Thank you all from all of us!

Myself and my partner visited on the day of the pride festival, we walked up and grabbed a coffee from Bay5 Coffee House, we opted for a takeaway cup and walked around the rear of the building to firstly get away from the wind to try and drink our coffee and secondly to sit whilst we enjoyed our coffee. We are sat for 10 minutes when a waitress walks past myself and my partner, does not make eye contact but raises her voice “that’s takeaway cups, you need to leave the table”. Now there is a service and a way to speak to customers, frankly the fact this waitress didn’t make eye contact or even stop to address us in a personable manner shows the lack of customer service this waitress has. Upon trying to ask what the difference was between a china cup and a takeaway cup, the waitress ignored us and proceeded to clear a table before walking back in the building. I for one, will not be returning to Bay5 without an answer and apology from the waitress as to why she thought customers could be treated in this manner.

We like Bay 5, the coffee and cakes are quite good. However, on a recent visit we were charged over a £1 more than usual for our coffee's. I asked for a till receipt, when we got home I checked it. to discover that VAT had been ADDED to the advertised price rather than being included. This is illegal. To be sure I checked out a few legal advice sites Here's the conclusion: "VAT, AKA Value Added Tax, must be included in meal prices displayed". In short, the people at Bay 5 are taking the mick. Bad form, very bad form.

Visited here Sunday with a friend for her birthday. We reserved a table for breakfast and we're running a little late but they kept it for us and were really friendly. Little disappointed to not have any egg choices for breakfast, breakfast stuff quite limited just had pastries, bacon sandwiches, pancakes etc which is nice for sweet tooth customers but just fancied a simple eggs on toast. Coffees come as only one shot which I personally don't think is enough but ordered a double shot latte which was nice. Such a jewel of a little café, in a gorgeous setting. Menu and décor takes it way above the average. We arrived very hungry, having been stuck in a traffic jam for ages. There wasn't much of a queue of people waiting to order, and the place wasn't absolutely rammed, but it seemed to take forever to get to the counter, and then the wait for the food to arrive was interminable. It gave us time to see what others were eating - those pancake stacks and tiers of cakes and pastries were works of art and we eyed them enviously. Unfortunately, when my cheese and tomato crepe finally came, it was lacking in both cheese and tomato. Hardly any filling at all. So I left as I had arrived - hungry. I really wanted to give this place 5 stars - it is a delight to the senses - but it really was very slow.

We have visited Bay 5 in the past, enjoyed the views and been happy with the drinks and food. However on this occasion we were surprised to see that dogs are allowed actually inside the already crowded cafe. One rather large dog was quite smelly in a doggy way and it was a bit off-putting. Another small but yappy dog was on its owner’s lap and frequently had its paws on the table. Judging by how busy the staff were, I doubt they would have had time to wipe the table with disinfectant in between customers. I am surprised about this as I thought there were hygiene laws concerning dogs and eating establishments. There are several tables outside which would be appropriate. Not everyone appreciates dogs as much as their owners and some people and young children are actually scared of them.

Atmosphere left a lot to be desired as everything was rushed and noisy. There was a cold and damp feeling as well, in fact we never removed our coats. Better I would think in summer. There is a wide variety of fare and most of us took advantage of the bacon crepes with maple syrup. In fact, you can have any combination of just about anything - just ask! Also they cater for the gluten and lactose avoiders and nothing was too much trouble. There was no hurrrying-up either. The selection of coffees was also wide-ranging and the place was very enjoyable -- watching the waves! Well done!

Great food. Great view, great staff, couldn't fault it. Particularly liked the fact dogs were visiting so I could give some love to other people's puppies!

A real treat. Sipping a delicious cappuccino while watching dogs and their 'humans' enjoying the morning sunshine on the beach below. Made to feel very welcome. Such a relaxing moment.

Have visited before, but today's visit surpassed previous visit. We had difficulty getting through the cafe with the pushchair, but a member of staff encouraged people to move their chairs to let us through. Everything was brought to the table. Food was excellent. Lovely crispy bacon sandwich, Nutella crepe yummy! Toilet is lovely and clean. Staff extremely friendly. Only downside was the table of rude customers who objected to moving their chairs to let us through, despite being asked by my daughter. They were taking up extra room with their dogs, and reluctantly moved after being asked to by staff! But that's people.......not the establishment!

I have previously reviewed Bay 5 and today we sat outside in the sunshine of a late November day and could have been abroad,it was so pleasant. Service was friendly as usual and as Lavazza coffee is my favourite we had a lovely time.

It doesn't really matter if it's raining, windy or sunny, at Bay 5 you will be always received with a smile and enjoy a drink or meal. Small and cozy venue with stylish decoration and a personal touch. I am a regular costumer and I won't change :)

What could be nicer than eating a yummy crepe and drinking excellent coffee while looking out over the sunlit Bristol Channel. Our crepes were made with very good bacon and drizzled with maple syrup. Only criticism was that the place seemed very slightly disorganised (probably because the kitchen space is small), however the service was friendly and quick. We'd certainly return. There is some outside seating though, to our annoyance, some of this was taken by a party who'd brought their own sandwiches and refused to move when asked by a waitress.

My 8 year old daughter & I stopped at Bay 5 for a warming hot chocolate & pancakes after a blustery winter walk on the beach. The staff were exceptional & friendly taking the time to chat to my daughter despite being busy. The food & drinks arrived promptly & were absolutely delicious. Well behaved dogs are also allowed into Bay 5 which is great as we spend lots of time walking the dog on the beach at this time of year. This visit certainly won’t be our last & we’re looking forward to trying their festive afternoon tea - delicious!!!

I went here on an absolutely miserable day and was pleasantly surprised by Bay 5. I was initially drawn in by their inventive hot chocolate menu, but when inside I was happy to find their large crepe selection. The staff members were all incredibly lovely and had some great customer service skills. The only thing better than the staff members were the crepes! They were fresh, piping hot and put many of the ones that I've had in France to shame.I'd recommend eating here to anyone if they are in Barry Island.

This pub has been bought by the villagers. It’s is wonderful in so many ways. Cowbridge seems to be a black hole of decent food aside from the hare and hounds and maple and bean. This felt like a proper community pub in the 90s. The staff were all amazing. The food was amazing. There wasn’t a 400% markup on rubbish wine. The service as great. The atmosphere was lovely. Great starters of crab and squid were followed by perfectly cooked steak. The doughnuts with custard cream and strawberries were lovely. No rip off frozen food or “small plates” that nobody likes here. Go and support places like this. The rest of cowbridge eateries need to up their game.

We have been visiting the Casa Paco restaurant for a few years. Each meal is better than the last and we’re always made to feel welcome. The meals are consistently high standard, I can’t wait to go again. We had many deliveries in lockdown and they were always piping hot and fresh. Karen and the team are wonderful hosts and cannot do enough for us. My favourite it the fillet steak and Rossini sauce - highly recommend!

Unbelievable food, and top notch service. Staff always super attentive and friendly. Not many places give this level of service and food quality.

Is ok , sometimes staff good , other times not so much. However , the main point is this has got to be the earliest closing fish and chip shop in Wales if not the whole of the UK!
