It was cold in the pub. I've eaten in here before and you have really good size portions and food is good. I felt we were being rushed even though our tables were booked as they knew they were going to need our tables later on.

Fab place which delivers large tasty food. My only negative comment is they use 15% fat mince, which I find way to fatty to eat. Highly recommend though I just don't eat the lasagna anymore.

Managed to get in for Sunday dinner today with the wife. Absolutely beautiful beef dinner. The meat melted in the mouth, and the roast potatoes and carrots were divine, cauliflower cheese, and broccoli with garden peas and gorgeous beef gravy. Very fast service by very friendly happy staff. My apple pie and ice cream polished off a the meal. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend you visit if your in the area.

Staff absolutely welcoming and so friendly

I have been visiting The Highwayman Inn for many years it is a great place for eating out...food is excellent and staff are very friendly and helpful..

Turned up on the off chance and were squeezed in between reservations. Staff were lovely and we were served very quickly. The food had huge portions and was absolutely delicious. We very much recommend this to others as a place for Sunday lunch. It isn’t the prettiest of pubs tbh and could do with a bit of a makeover but the toilets seemed very clean.

Outstanding food every time I visit this restaurant. I have never had a bad meal here. Well worth calling beforehand to reserve your table. Be warned, the plates are big.

We popped in for a spot of lunch, having not visited for a few months and everything was fabulous. The staff were super friendly and efficient even though they were quite busy. The food was delicious and the portion size amazing. Highly recommended

Quality of food has gone down hill ,steaks tuff and full of gristle, portion size a lot smaller ,used th be our favourite restaurant ,not any more and a lot of my friends have said the same , very disappointed 😞

Huge portions, mussels and crispy beef were delicious. Pasta as a main was huge and also delicious. Service great and not too expensive for the quality and portion size.

Another pub which refuses to serve full sugar drinks on tap. But instead force you to buy expensive bottled coke. Sick of these places.

Fantastic meal. Staff were great they all did a fantastic job, very attentative and polite and seemed to be really well trained at their roles. We had a food alergy within the party which was not an issue as they had a GF menu at the ready that was packed with choice so we were more than pleased. We had a variety of food, one being the over 60's menu which had a great selection of food, one had the highwayman burger from the menu (this thing was massive did struggle a fair bit and thats a good thing). Then we had the GF option of a hunter chicken style dish that was also very generous. The dishes very aample and well worth the price, we have frequented here many times over the years and recently it has been the best meal yet. Highly recommend.

Mixed feelings. Although I've only ever had a positive experience and good food. It's extremely concerning that the establishment only has a Food Hygiene Rating of 1 star, which will certainly put me off visiting until this is rectified.

Bit expensive massive portions good wholesome food

I hate leaving not so good reviews but the whole idea of reviews is to give your opinion on your own experience somewhere ! Went on a sunday with some friends who love going here and their young son.. It was raining and cold outside winter is here for sure so why is it so cold inside ! It was not jst me saying it eithr 2 of us left our coats on..we hsd jst left a warm toasty pub. It was so cold in there didnt feel like any heating was on at all ?and its november!lookd st menu pretty good selection butcrikey pretty expensive too.we orderd 4 meals. My friends meal lookd banging cheese burger onion rings chips lookd huge .the little boy had steak salad ..but hated the sauces thatcame as a side in little pots only to find under the steak was salad and more steak coverd in the same sauce or dressing he cldnt eat it .if serving it as a side maybe leave it off if they want to add it tney can..tbey were eating their meals for a gd 10 to 15 minutes when we had to ask politely for our 2 sunday roasts ideally people should eat together not 2 finish while 2 waiting to arrive. We had lamb sunday dinner..lamb was perfectly cookd and very very nice..however i found gravy watery andnot quite enough.i also didntfind my food hot ..? Not going to cause a scence its embarresing .cauliflower cheese was tasteless and no potatoes jst 2 roasties and not great veg..or choice.yorkshire pretty decent..size of dinner pretty small as the price expensive yu still have to pay extra for lamb ?? I froze tp death while eating hoping a hot gravy come along warm me up..service ok..not great or the best ..however soon as we finished and askd for the bill wow quickest service had all day take the money in seconds. Drinks expensive too.so what did i like!?? The look of my friends huge burger fries chips. .loads on his plate very hot yeh can deffo see where the reputation comes from. But for me..way to cold..inside and my food ! Not worth the money had bettr for cheaper elswere however no issue paying that price if worth it / happy. Would i recommend or return absoloutly not and im sure they wont be effected or care..butcannot see what all the hype was about and why didnt anyons tell me to wrap up warm .3 of us were frozen..1 star for the look of mt mates food fairplay !

Celebrated my Niece's birthday, great atmosphere and the service was amazing didn't wait long and the food was 10 out of 10. Would definitely go again and recommend.

Great food, service and overall experience!

Absolutely fantastic find at Roose. We went on a Sunday and chose the roast. There was a choice of meats and although plated extra vegetables and gravy came too. There was a very comprehensive menu available also. Would definitely suggest booking, although we just did a walk in at about 4.30pm it was rammed.

Fabulous meal, very big portions. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. I would happily recommend this place

I hav been told about this place for so long . Me and my wife finally got there last night . I want to thank you all at the inn for a fab evening. Your food was amazing. Your service was amazing and the atmosphere was amazing and that sums it all up . It's a big must to try the inn and share our visit there . Thank you to you and your staff it was just AMAZING 👏

Ate here today for the second time and just thought I'd leave a review. Both times I have eaten here the meals have been outstanding and the staff were very polite and helpful. Would definitely recommend!

We enjoyed a lovely night out with friends. The food, the service, and the atmosphere were great. The food was cooked to perfection for all of our meals, so compliments to the hidden diamond, the chef. The chef has done a fabulous job in the kitchen, and the quantity of food served. The staff serving the food to the tables was very efficient and helpful. It is well worth a visit for a lovely night out.

We stopped here before flying at Cardiff Airport and the food was fabulous! The portions were big and I was sad I couldn't finish it, it was that good! I had the linguine dish. With a drink, it was around £20. Bargain for what I got!

We came from Bournemouth for a birthday. The lady looking after us was working her socks off but was was very kind and patient with us. I’d read mixed reviews regarding the food but the pie and chips was very tasty and filling and I’d have it again. As we left, we were in a rush, however she came to find us with a surprise cookie with a candle in it for my friend. This was a lovely touch and she really didn’t need to do this. My friend felt very special and we were all touched. Loved the scissors in a basket! I’ll be back :)

Food was OK but take plenty of money , not like the old days ,

We was recommended the Highwayman Inn by our hotel. There was four adults and two children. It was a last minute decision to eat at the Highwayman Inn and they accommodated us perfectly finding us a table inside. The highwayman Inn has alot of choices on their menu, including the Vegan and Gluten Free menus. They accommodated for my intolerances (Gluten and Dairy) perfectly tweaking my chosen gluten free dish to make sure there was no dairy. The portion sizes were large! So big no of us could manage a pudding! (Including the kids!). The kids enjoyed the outdoor play area too. Altogether the bill came to approx £80. I would definitely recommend the Highwayman Inn! Thank you for a lovely evening!

Very good meals not small portions good selection of beer and spirits. I had the monkfish which was very nice maybe could do with a different type of rice. The only downside was not being offered a dessert menu. Good parking and wheelchair access.

Booked a table last minute (30 mins) before arriving and was no problem at all. Great service and the food was the best we’ve had in a long time. I highly recommend this place! Give it a try you won’t be disappointed. Also have a children’s play area and outside seating making watching the children stress free. You can also watch the planes as right by the airport can’t wait to go again!!! Many thanks

Went for my birthday (70th)but I'm not old🤪 was a little cramped anyone on the inside had to sit on end and shimmy through meals were amazing best chips I've ever had my grandson is 2yrs old so we ordered chicken nuggets & beans & chips the plate was massive and it cost £7.99 which was a silly size foe such a little person couldn't fault the staff or meals we will go back sometime

Seems more set up for the pub grub trade, rather than a beer drinkers' destination. One hand pulled Ale, Felinfoel Double Dragon, otherwise generic beers and lagers. Friendly and helpful staff, pleasant decor. Menu looks decent, but nothing special for non-meat conscious consumers.

The starters are way to big so you don't get to eat your main meal

Went to the Highwayman Inn for dinner, haven’t been for over 10 years! Portion sizes were very good, didn’t need side orders!! Overall standard of food much better than average . Ambience is not up to much full of children and young persons. The meal was ruined as we had a table in front of the bar and within minutes of being seated a group of 13 people turned up and stood alongside our table drinking while waiting to be seated, we had bums and bags practically touching our plates, they had no sense of personal space!! They were seated as we left🙄 This has put us off returning . Although food quality and quantity was very good .

Went for over sixties menu what a fabulous meal lovely staff got relations coming over from Australia be a pleasure to bring them here great menu fish to die for definitely coming back again very reasonably priced everything homemade even children's chicken nuggets nice surroundings

We went here for lunch before travelling and it was really nice little pub. It has a large car parking lot and kids play area outside. The food was very tasty and definitely worth paying that little bit extra. The pub was full of the older generation. It was difficult to get to if you don't follow the signs as there are some tight backroads.

Been here before but today was dreadful the chips looked like they had been over cooked in old oil, the fish was watery and batter soggy. I wasnt impressed and only got asked if everything was ok when we asked for the bill. I explain that the fish and chips wasn't very good he came back and said the chef said sorry and he takes my points on board and it will be better next time 🤦🤷🏻‍♂️ there won't be a next time thank you not for £57+ for poor quality food. I would say the food has gone down hill!!

Enormous portion sizes. Brilliant and tasty food. Fantastic value. Service friendly. Would happily return. We were only people in the place on a weekday mid afternoon - but imagine it would be busy at evenings and weekends. Phenomenal value for money.

I used to rave about this place but sadly it’s gone downhill over the last year or so. Never seems to be anyone in control, just young staff who clearly haven’t been trained in customer service and simply don’t seem to care. Ordered a m/w fillet, only for it to arrive very rare. Had to go looking for a staff member who took it back (tho he left the pepper sauce behind to go cold). On returning about 10 minutes later he informed me it was ‘only the end bit’ and the rest was fine. It wasn’t! At no time did anyone come to the table to check. Some time later a waitress cleared our plates and asked if everything was ok. I pointed out my plate, still full of rare steak, and explained I wasn’t at all happy with my meal. In fairness, she did deduct it from the bill, but the whole experience was disappointing - poor food, terrible service, but most of all the fact no-one cared. The poor service has been something we’ve noticed on our last few visits - no-one checking on tables, no offering further drinks, and just a general lack of interest from staff. Always used to be Kyle in charge - he was always on the ball, incredibly efficient, as were the more ‘mature’ waitresses. Get them back!!
