The Sully Inn in The Vale of Glamorgan

This Sunday lunch came highly recommended by two dear friends of mine. It certainly came up trumps when a party of five of us dined there today. At only an hours notice did Nathan kindly accommodate us a table at the front of the restaurant. The decor is contemporary modern and the ambiance was perfect for a family occasion. The servers were excellent and far exceeded expectations and coped well under pressure. They were professional, courteous, attentive and engaging. They certainty do The Vale Of Glamorgan very proud. My two cousins and their partners were impressed and they don’t impress easily. Complimentary sour dough bread, butter and iced lemon water was brought to the table. Adequate time was given before our orders were taken. Only one starter was ordered whilst four of us opted for desert. The starter was ham hock terrine and salad which was divine. An assortment of soft drinks, lagers and cider was enjoyed whilst waiting for the main meals. My cousin and I chose the pork belly with crackling. Other family members enjoyed a slow braised brisket of beef, a roasted Glamorganshire sirloin roast dinner and finally a cod fillets with Mediterranean vegetables and new potatoes dish. All meals were flawless. Excellent Yorkshire puddings, seasoned meals and delicious gravy. All portions were heartily and plates were cleared! Deserts were sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, a bakewell tart and two lemon cheesecakes. All were exceptional and staff checked in on us regularly. Nathan and the team really looked after us and we cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. We tipped generously to show our gratitude. A well deserved five stars. 🌟

We arrived 4 mins before 12 and was told they were not open but we could wait in the entrance. So, we waited and waited and then I had to ask the manager if we could come in?? Only guests in the building and shown to a round table for 3 of us that quite frankly is meant for two. Looked at the menu and that was enough for us to cancel drink order and make our excuses. Would it of hurt to allow us to sit at a table for a few mins with the menu? Would it of hurt to ask if we would like a drink while waiting? Hospitality was non existent today, very sad and we will not be returning.

We had a lovely lunch here on Saturday. The food was really excellent and great value for money. Staff were very friendly and the service was also excellent, the chef even came out at the end of the meal to check we were happy with everything. Pub interior was a little dark but overall i am very happy to give this one five stars.

The Sully Inn is exceptional. The service is faultless. The food is of great quality. It’s such a treat to have table service and sparkling glasses. We can’t wait to visit again very soon!

Visited this restaurant/pub as a family of 8. Plenty of room in the area we were in. All staff were friendly, helpful and accommodating. The food was of a high quality, 4 of us had the rib eye beef for Sunday lunch and each one was cooked exactly as we asked for. A generous size portion of meat and the veg was also cooked to perfection. Plenty of choice of desserts, again everyone can was happy with their choice. Our first, and definitely not last, visit to this place. Thank you for a lovely dining experience and great value for money too!

The 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed our bottomless brunch here last weekend. The food was tasty and beautifully presented and the drinks kept flowing! Highly recommended!

After walking around the lakes we decided to search for a place for lunch and we ended up at the Sully Inn. The service and food was very good and the waitress charming and looked after us. I enjoyed a beer before my prawn cocktail arrived and then the fish and chips, which were both perfect. My wife had a starter and main which were both cheese based. We met the Manager who I thought was most professional in looking after us. We’re planning our next visit already!

Visited for Sunday lunch with my dog. We both got a warm and friendly welcome. Staff were great and the Roast Pork dinner and then Bakewell tart for dessert was absolutely delicious! Will definitely visit again. Poppy the dog also really enjoyed her special treat! Thanks again.

Fabulous courtyard perfect for an impromptu lunch in the sunshine. We were made to feel very welcome indeed. Food was outstanding! Service was little slow for second drinks but that’s being very picky - It was a hot day! I would highly recommend this gem, cannot believe I’ve never been there before, but already looking forward to going back!

We went for an evening meal & it was exceptional. The food, staff, surroundings, presentation, what more can I say. Very very good. Will definitely go back. Very reasonable. Also told us Tuesday's & Fridays buy one get one free! Which is amazing for the quality you get. Well done.

Great place for a get together with friends. We went on a Wednesday which was steak night. Excellent value with choice of rib eye or sirloin including chips, grilled tomato, mushroom, onion rings, salad and either a glass of wine or beer for under £18. Three of us had steak and we're not disappointed. They were delicious 😋 Also ordered was the chicken supreme, which I believe was equally enjoyable. Service and atmosphere is very friendly and we didn't feel rushed to leave after finishing our meals.

We took a group of 28 to the Sully Inn for a 70th birthday celebration. Pascal and the team could not have been more helpful (even when we added to our numbers at the very last minute!). Fantastic food, very reasonably priced with a great beer, wine and spirits list. It was pouring with rain when we came to leave and the staff were very helpful in letting us stay warm and dry while we waited for a few taxis. Thanks so much for another great family experience!

2 weeks before our visit last night, my father, who has Motor Neurone Disease, was sitting eating lunch when the chair he was sitting on gave way and he was thrown back on the floor and hit his head. Dad is incredibly slight due to muscle wastage so goodness knows how the chair broke. Before visiting again last night my lovely mum took the time to actually drive to the sully inn and speak to the manager to ensure that the faulty chairs had been removed. Half way through our dinner last night my brothers chair broke in half and he was lying on the floor and his arm this morning is covered in bruising and very swollen. When I approached the duty manager and told him what had happened, he didn’t apologise, and told me that yes the chairs do break!!!!! I am only thankful that it wasn’t my dad in the chair because it would have taken us at least 20 minutes to get him off the floor in his condition. We had to ask to fill out the accident book and it was reluctantly brought to us but when this happened two weeks ago mum and dad didn’t think to ask for it and it wasn’t offered to them. As the staff admitted the chairs break I do hope they are upgraded as this is quite unbelievable. A sorry would have been helpful! Such a shame as this is a good place for wheelchair users but it’s now too much of a risk to come back, it’s shocking.

Delicious Sunday lunch - one of the best I've ever tasted! Will definitely be going back! The restaurant is very comfortable, clean and the staff are extremely polite and attentive. Excellent and highly recommended!

What can I say but this is by far the best place in the Vale for great service, great food and we always leave feeling great. Welcoming staff, delicious food and although not as cheap as others the food and service quality align with the price you pay. Accommodating, smiling staff and great food drinks in a comfy warm welcoming gastropub.

Three of us just decided to drop in on the way home, for a drink. We saw the food being served which looked absolutely tremendous. The front of host host was most friendly and certainly judging from what we saw. We will be going back.

A family visit for 2 birthdays. We had a warm friendly welcome and were shown to our pre booked table within seconds. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. The menu choice was excellent. Dietary restrictions were dealt with easily. The scotch egg for starters was delicious. My son ordered the cod goujons which he said were amazing. Our main course arrived promptly. Our table had the braised beef- delicious, tender and flavoursome, cod fillet- again delicious and tasty. My husband had fish and chips- portions were large with tasty fresh ingredients. We were too full for dessert! We can wait to return. Thank you to all the staff.

Fabulous food &service in a cosy welcoming pub. The Sully Inn never fails to deliver top quality food despite them being very busy . It’s always service with a smile , food piping hot, great quality as well .
